Here twice already. First time was on a Saturday and the 2nd on a Friday. On both occasions, the place is not packed but also came to a point that line can get long. Since they are in downtown SJ, parking is indeed very difficult. We had to park on the street a few blocks away but my daughter said she was able to park behind the building for free but she's not so sure if it's really free because she was quick and was just picking up so the attendant let her go without paying. We've tried a few of their other dishes during this trip and on our last visit. I would definitely skip the bread pudding, though. Saturday morning was a breeze to park (paid) in the streets of SJ. A short walk to the bakery was what we needed before our bread focused meal that was to come. We had ample time to pick our food before the line of 5 customers were done with theirs. We decided to eat in to take photos of this brunch spot laden with Japanese pop culture characters and bric-a-bracs. Japanese Egg Salad, Breakfast Sando, Longaniza Sando, Spam Ham & Egg and Lox No Bagel with a generous side of Potato Tostones. Plus a half-loaf of Shokupan (milk bread). That's 5 of the 9 published Milk Belly sandwiches on their menu. They did have seasonal drinks and special menu sandos but those are items to try out when we return. We shared half of the smoked salmon and breakfast sandwich with a cup of Vietnamese Ice Coffee before we called it quits for breakfast. We brought home the rest of our haul for the kids to partake. The egg sando reminded me of Japanese konbini's egg plus egg salad sandwiches. My wife's breakfast sando was likewise filling with bacon, egg, cheese & herb mayo inside the fluffy shokupan. We did get yelled at for blocking the entrance but that's okay, it's a fire hazard so they had to be firm and tell us. Lots of seating and bar seating. First time trying Milk Belly again after they opened up their storefront! Their potato tostones were just as delicious as I remembered. I first experienced Milk Belly when they were a ghost kitchen in Ruff Dr. (and I was a repeat customer), so it's pretty cool to see them have their own shop serving unique Asian-inspired baked goods and sandos. This spot is located near San Pedro Square, around the Mini Boss and F1rst Cafe area, next to Pastelaria Adega. Parking is either lot parking or street parking due to the nature of being downtown. When I got here, there was no line. However, I will say they were slammed with pickup orders. When you order your food, it goes into the same queue as pickup orders, even if you ask for it "for here," just as a heads up. Because of that, it took quite a while for my partner and me to receive our food. When we were here, I ordered their Dirty Hojicha Latte and man, this drink blew my mind. I was not expecting to be so wowed by it. This might have been the best cream top I've ever had. The peanut butter flavor paired so well with the hojicha. For food, we ordered the Spam and Egg Sando, the Breakfast Sando, and the Potato Tostones. For the sandos, I really enjoyed the fluffiness of their shokupan. It worked really well together and wasn't so soft that the sandwiches felt soggy. Each sando had its own unique sauce that I enjoyed. The sauce on the Spam and Egg had a nice Kewpie and sriracha flavor going on, whereas the Breakfast Sando was citrusy and cilantro-forward. Our favorite dish was the potatoes, though. There were loads of baby potatoes, fried and coated with fatty olive oil. It was so good. Additionally, I have picked up their Black Sesame Sourdough before and enjoyed it thoroughly. I like the typical shokupan you can find in Japan (I guess they're called milk bread in US) so I've been wanting to check this place out and I finally got a chance to try it out. I got the longanisa sando. The bread was just like the typical shokupan you can find in japan. Fluffy, with a hint of sweetness. The sando's meat worked very well with the sandwich. The egg was a very nice combination too. My only complaint is that the egg could've also been fluffier, more soft and raw where egg here was pretty hard and firm. Also, it would've been good to have egg flavored with dashi or more butter, but that's all just my personal preference. The cheese really bind the meat and the egg well. What I have to mention is the habanero sauce (Or I think it was? You can see in the pic the label was kinda washed out so I'm not sure exactly what the sauce was). Perfect amount of spicy kick and a sweetness combined. Using the sauce really took up the sandwich by a notch but it might not be for everyone since it is rather spicy. The Breakfast and Egg Salad sandos were amazing (though the Egg Salad one did get a little bit messy) while the Hong Kong Milk Toast was just okay. Came here on Valentines Day morning, i called ahead around 1:30pm bc i didnt want everything to be sold out. They said only their longanisa sando was sold out so went! There was a line inside and it took maybe 15 mins to get to front. The lady at the counter (probably the owner) was so patient with us as i told her it was our first time and i asked her a recommendation and she recommended the lemongrass chicken salad sando with chili oil and the breakfast sando for cold and warm sandwich. We also got the avocado toast and hot tea (green tea flavor). (They only have cold coffees which is fine!) I really enjoyed the lemongrass chicken salad sando! The chili oil added a small kick and the bread is so fresh and soft. I also liked the warm breakfast sando. The bacon is so crispy and pairs well with the buttery toasted bread and eggs! The avocado toast was good too! So much avocado! And the bread is crunchy yet soft. They do have tables inside, maybe people let others share the 4 seater tables, also a few bar spots. U buss your own table and there is filtered water! I will be back to try their egg sando and buy one of their milk loafs! Recommend! read more

Visited a couple weeks ago for lunch! Came around 1pm and there was no line, about half packed in the smaller restaurant. I loved their plant and studio Ghibli decor out in the front area by the cashier. I ended up getting their guava mochi, Japanese egg sando and their hot cinnamon rose hojicha tea. I sat at the small high table near the window away from everyone else, and it was so cozy and nice. The Japanese egg sando came out fairly quick, you grab it at the counter. The milk bread was nice and fluffy and the slightly runny egg was so yummy. I also used their house pineapple habanero sauce on the sandwich and that added a delicious kick. Pricing is fairly steep but enjoyed it nonetheless. The sandwich really filled me up, I almost didnt even finish my guava mochi (that was also really good). It came cold but it had a nice chew and good solid bite. I smelled the guava fragrance before I bit into it, so the flavoring was very prominent. The cinnamon hojicha tea wasnt what I was expecting -- for some reason I was thinking latte but it was a tea. my bad on my part. It was still nice and hot and great for a cold winter day. They were closing up shop as I was leaving. I mentioned I really love their house habanero sauce. They made it in store in the morning! When I mentioned I really liked it, they poured some in a small container for me to take home, which was super sweet. 10/10 food and 10/10 service!!! I remember getting milk belly back when it was in a ghost kitchen so I'm sooo happy they have their own store front now! I bigbacked with my housemate and we got three sandwiches (two savory and one sweet), ube scone, and a slice of egg tart. Always get the spam egg cheese sandwich with hashbrown add on! And steak one which was a seasonal one I think was sooo good that I hope it stays!!! And ugh the dessert... so so good if I wasn't worried about my carb intake I would come back every week read more

The food here is so yummy! The vibes and decorations are cute and cozy. We ordered the Ham and Brie Toast & Longanisa Sando. Absolutely love that this spot is surrounded by my favorite places. it's so fluffy stopped by this place for a quick lunch/snack. this place is a cute little cafe. order at the counter and find yourself a table. their menu is very simple: sandwiches and toast. we tried their japanese egg salad which was simple yet delicious. egg salad with a whole egg in the center. my favorite was their longanisa sando, which is basically a egg and cheese sandwich. the sausage had a mild sweetness, which I found quite pleasant. the bread on this one was toasted, which provided a nice contrasted to the egg salad sandwich. the bread is def the star of the show - fresh and majestically fluffy. the sandwiches were surprisingly filling, perfect for lunch. my only qualm would be the price. it is slightly pricey for san jose, but given the relative novelty of it, it makes sense. read more

Their potato tostones is part of my "what is your last meal on Earth" meal. It's so crispy, full of seasoning, and perfect in each bite that I went twice in a row cause I was craving. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about this. I've only tried their Longanisa and spam sandwich. Both are good but the reason I'll keep coming back is for their potatoes. I wish they sold their seasoning for it. I'd put that on everything!! The only downside is this place is in downtown so parking can be a pain and when this place gets busy, it's hard to find seating. read more
