The family was in the area late Saturday afternoon so we decided to get our favorites. The longanisa and Japanese breakfast sandos were still so good! We also got the avocado toast, Vietnamese coffee, matcha cloud, burnt almond scone, and guava mochi. The avocado toast is loaded, enough avocados to add to the other two sandos we had. Definitely made for anyone who loves avocados. The burnt almond scone was so good and went well with either drink. The guava mochi came in close second to the scone. Service was fast considering the was out of the door. It's pretty small inside but tables turn over fast in time to sit down when our orders were ready.

I would honestly come here just for the dirty hojicha. The peanut butter cream on top of the hojicha is what really makes it for me. The combination is so good. We've tried a few of their other dishes during this trip and on our last visit. I would definitely skip the bread pudding, though. It was way too dry, and I didn't get much of the yuzu or any real fruity tang. It was just a very slight hint. The smash sandwich was good, and the scone was decent, but I wouldn't go out of my way for either. It's self-service for utensils and water. The space is on the smaller side if you want to eat in. They have an open-kitchen concept, which gives the place a, almost like-you're-eating-in-someone's-home feeling.

Milk Belly Bakery is an Asian inspired bakery selling various forms of milk bread dishes, Asian inspired pastries, and other freshly made loaves. Ambiance: A very Japanese inspired decor upon entry with ambient lighting and tables with a mixture of booth / chair seating along the side. Music was not overly loud allowing for ability to do some work in the cafe. The kitchen is mainly open face allowing you to see the workers make fresh food and drinks to order. Service: The service was relatively quickly for a morning rush. They were also extremely friendly during the ordering and with pick up for to go orders. Wait time: Roughly 10-15 minutes from order to food being ready around 9:30ish time on a weekday. Food: The Hong Kong Milk toast had a smooth rich peanut buttery taste with sweetness from the condense milk and added cinnamon to give a depth of flavor. They also toasted the bread in butter to provide a slightly crunchy exterior with a fluffy interior. Corn Mochi / Pandan Mochi both had good flavors respectively with a nice mochi consistency to both of the desserts. Relatively small for the $5 price tag on both of them but would recommend if you like mochi consistency pastries. Overall, Milk Belly Bakery is a fun establishment offering a wide variety of Asian inspired food and drinks with friendly staff and a chill ambience. Would recommend if you are looking for a quick coffee or breakfast pastry before heading to work.

The loganisa sando with hashbrown was very good. The egg very fluffy, the hashbrown was very crunchy, and the loganisa was soft and delicious. The toast was toasted very well and held up the sandwich. The staff was nice and efficient with their orders. There was a long line of people but it felt like it moved quickly and seats also opened up quickly. We also got the ube mochi to go which was pretty good. The shop has lots of cute decorations and figurines and the like. It feels like a good place to also get some coffee and relax when it's less busy.

Amazing food, the longanisa sando was so flavorful. The japanese sando was also good but I liked the longanisa a bit more. I also got 2 drinks, the viet coffee with turon cream top (add on), and the Strawberry danish. I loved the turon cream top a lot! I can see the vision for the strawberry danish viet coffee, but the recipe might need a little tweaking. There was about 5 people in line on a late wednesday morning surprisingly, and I waited about 30 mins for my order to be ready, so plan accordingly! The decor was retro and vintage, with a cute plant corner that was a perfect photo spot. loved the vibes in this place!

Love everything I've tried here. My favorite item is the Matcha Cloud drink! Never thought the combination of Matcha with coconut water and vanilla would be so memorable! Also, their Green machine sandwich and their seasonal whipped cream and strawberry sando is delicious. All their breads are worth the hype. A coworker recommended this place and I have been coming back to grab lunch to-go at least once every other week. It can get super busy at noon tho. There are about 4-5 tables that get filled up quickly. Lovely little boutique ambiance. They sell some local products up front. They are closed on Mondays. Plan to wait 15mins for your order as they make everything fresh to order.

tried the prosciutto with peach toast today - not bad but def too overpriced as it was pretty small. egg sando and longaniza sando are still good as usual!

Saturday morning was a breeze to park (paid) in the streets of SJ. A short walk to the bakery was what we needed before our bread focused meal that was to come. We had ample time to pick our food before the line of 5 customers were done with theirs. We decided to eat in to take photos of this brunch spot laden with Japanese pop culture characters and bric-a-bracs. Japanese Egg Salad, Breakfast Sando, Longaniza Sando, Spam Ham & Egg and Lox No Bagel with a generous side of Potato Tostones. Plus a half-loaf of Shokupan (milk bread). That's 5 of the 9 published Milk Belly sandwiches on their menu. They did have seasonal drinks and special menu sandos but those are items to try out when we return. We shared half of the smoked salmon and breakfast sandwich with a cup of Vietnamese Ice Coffee before we called it quits for breakfast. We brought home the rest of our haul for the kids to partake. The egg sando reminded me of Japanese konbini's egg plus egg salad sandwiches. My wife's breakfast sando was likewise filling with bacon, egg, cheese & herb mayo inside the fluffy shokupan. The crew were friendly and service was as efficient as can be with a packed house. This wasn't a cheap breakfast by any means but the chance to tick off MBB from our to-try list was worth it.

First time in San Jose, looking for a quick breakfast. Location a little tucked away but fairly large inside. Menu is various sandwiches and they look like they bake their own bread. Ordered the longanisa sandwich, egg salad sandwich, lox no bagel and potato Tostones. Longanisa sandwich comes with a nice fluffy egg. Egg salad sandwich had a great ratio of egg salad to bread. Lox no bagel was balanced with a great assortment of veggies and lox. Potatoes tonstones with a little greasy but seasoned well. Overall a great assortment of sandwiches, longanisa and lox no bagels were great and would order again, potatoes were a large portion, but would probably skip next time. Recommended.

Date: Friday, March 27th, 2026 Meal: Lunch Delivery Ordered Thru: DoorDash DashPass Time Placed: around 2:15pm Arrived: about an hour later Neighborhood Delivered: Evergreen *Japanese Egg Salad ($15.50) *Hashbrown ($4.50) *Long Distance Fee ($2.99) *Service Fee ($1.99) *Tax ($1.31) *Discount (-$6) I've been meaning to try Milk Belly for quite some time. I adore a good egg sandwich. Especially a soft fluffy japanese style one. Since I was home alone, I decided to just go for it. Plus, I believe it was during DD's happy hour, so I got a discount. I enjoyed the hash brown. It fulfilled that McD breakfast / tater tot potato craving. I wanted to like the sando since this place gets great reviews. Unfortunately I found their bread dry. And the filling to bread ratio was off for me. It needed more egg salad to balance out the drier bread. Maybe their bread is normally lighter and fluffier and this was an off day. But I wasn't impressed with their egg salad sando. REVIEW #4039

6/20/2026 Milk Belly Bakery was such a delightful find! My family and I ordered the avocado toast, Japanese egg salad sando, Longanisa sando, and even grabbed a full shokupan to take home--everything was incredibly delicious. The inside of the shop is adorable, filled with charming little knick‑knacks that give it a warm, welcoming vibe. Just a heads‑up: seating is pretty limited, so it's not the best spot for a bigger group. I came with my family (all six of us!) and we definitely felt the squeeze, but the food made it totally worth it.

Very crispy potato tostones. Longanisa Sando was pretty good too. A large assortment of different butter mochi flavors and other pastries. Overall a fun and inspired menu with a matching cute and homey decor. Would come back to try other menu items. One nit is the back near the water station and restroom could use some renovation. There was a slight odor, etc.

Always looking forward to visiting when I'm in San Jose! So good that it has me wanting to hop on a plane to just get Milk Belly. I've tried a couple of things on their menu so far. From the breakfast sando (with the chili oil, trust!) to the delicious pastries, Hong Kong toast, and the breakfast potatoes, every bite is packed with flavor. This place caters to all, if you are a savory or sweet person, they have you covered!

Can we go straight to the counter for buying the country loaf only or pre-order for pickup?

you can buy at the counter but depending on the time or day they might sell out.

Went on a saturday and before 3pm (the hours indicated on yelp) and the store was closed. can you update them to avoid this sort of thing?

We post updates on our instagram page when we sell out. It was very busy today and we sold out before 3pm. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is it Saturday morning, 11am. They should be open. Yet when I try to place an online order through their website, it says unavailable. Can anyone clarify?

Another Saturday that they are not open. Does anyone know what is going on? seems like their hours keep shrinking...

We are taking the time to spend a family vacation with the kids. We are a small business and family is very important to us. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will be back open Tuesday, April 9.

What brand do you use for the chili crunch or do you you make your own?

We make our own house chili crunch.

How many days in advanced do I need to preorder pies/cakes?

24 hours for pies. That way we can prepare the pie shell. For cakes it would just depend on the type of cake you were looking for.

Are you still on DoorDash? You don't come up when I do a search?

Do you only take preorders or can we walk in and buy baked items?

There is a kiosk inside to place your orders. We do preorders for our mini pies and whole pies on our website.

Do you have indoor and outdoor seating?

There is indoor seating but it’s usually occupied by dashers/ Uber pickups. We are a ghost kitchen.

Someone noticed me standing by the door and after letting them know I was there to pick up a Too Good to Go order, he got my boxes really quickly. The meal I ended up getting was a turkley bolognese pasta with some steamed broccoli. Very simplistic dish that tasty alright. For this specific meal, I'm not sure I would so inclined to pay full price for the meal prep since it is cheaper and very easy to make this at home. That said, I can see the appeal for those who are just too busy overall and want fast, healthy meals without having to cook. Overall, glad to have tried another local establishment. Would recommend trying this on 2G2G first if you're not sure you'll like the food.
