This has happened twice now in 6 months - this Lucky in Carmel sold me expired dairy and I had to make another trio to return it. They must not go often enough through yogurt and things like that and throw it out when it expires. So gross to get home and open moldy food, then see it expired the prior month. Check the expiration on everything at those store! Employees are super nice. read more

My wife' and I have gone to the Lucky store in Carmel for a number of years. And it has been a good experience. Unfortunately I am disabled and she now does all the shopping. She has had good experience with this store. Especially with the meat department and the friendly staff. However, she mentioned recently the store is in decline. A number of their long time employees are gone. The produce does not seem as fresh. Some dairy products are near or past their pull date. When she brought a cheese product home it had mold. Other than losing personnel, the other problems can be rectified if management gets involved and makes a concerted effort to change the direction of this store. read more

Shopped at luckys store in carmel today. I wanted to return some food products, it was unsatisfactory. The clerk said since you bought this at the salinas store I can not refund you your money. You have to take it back to the salinas store where you bought it to get your refund. I said okay thank you. I went to the deli to possibly buy zesty chicken wings. I was there waiting for about 3 minutes to get assistance in ordering. There were a couple of people, both were busy, one guy saw me waiting, but he did not say anything, I just left. Luckys store in Carmel is the worst place to shop! I tried one more place to get my refund at luckys store in Pacific Grove. They refunded my money. read more

Interesting that this place opened up at 6am. Very very few people up. Parking lot was almost empty, though it never really fills up. Wanted milk as a latte wants milk. Walked in the front door and to the back. Grabbed a bottle and walked to the front. Did self-checkout. Spoke to no one. Lights were on, shelves were stocked. I did see one worker who was busy arranging something but that was after I'd paid and was leaving. Much smaller than the gargantuan Safeway on the other side of the village. read more

It was not a pleasant experience shopping at Lucky Supermarket today. What was supposed to be a quick stop at the deli for some sliced ham & and cheese turned into a very unpleasant encounter with the deli girl. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, it was finally my turn to order. A pound of sliced ham and sliced cheese seemed an easily understandable request. However, what she began to fetch was the already pre-sliced ham that was rolled up and on display for who knows how long. Since there wasn't a pound of product there, she then began slicing additional meat to get to a pound. When I noticed what she was doing, I informed her again that I wanted sliced ham and not a mixture of rolled and sliced. Well, that didn't sit well with the deli girl. In a very agitated voice, she stated, "You should have said that to begin with." After telling her I did ask for sliced ham and not rolled, pre-sliced, she left in a huff and finished my order, tossing the product on top of the counter and walking away. It's not a great example of customer service on Luckys' part, I'd say. read more

My experience at Luckys is always exceptional. Every employee that I have dealt with is five stars, except for one. Her name is Tracy and I think she exceeds five stars by far. Every time I shop, Tracy is always friendly and helpful. I can't say that I have ever seen her have an off day and I am at your store every week! The Carmel Lucky gets high marks for customer service during the covid pandemic. I utilize their old and vulnerable hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Business volume is obviously down due to covid but the corporation has earned my business once this era passes. The store is smaller compared to the Safeway around the corner but the store has everything we need. I nicked one star because one young meat department worker was sporting a very offensive facemask a couple of visits back. Politics and virtue signalling has no place in a grocery store. Ordered a Thanksgiving prepared meal. Extra helpful at pick up to contain leaking juices. Turkey wonderful and perfect. Stuffing tastes like Diner Stuffing in the best sense of the word. Mashed Potatoes perfectly flavored with spices. A lot of pepper added to our taste. Cranberry jelly interesting with crunchies and not overly sweet. Gravy (thick Diner gravy)...lots of gluten. I love that they leave all the power outlets and water nozzles open and available for the homeless drug addicts to use. It's always nice to see a bum sitting here at the table with all of their garbage thrown out all over the place with all of their Contraptions plugged in to the wall. Twice now - when Chris was busy doing other things - he has stopped what he was busily doing and opened a Register quickly to help reduce the long lines of anxious shoppers. This is a review of their fresh squeezed Orange Juice. I grew up in an orange orchard so yes I know good fresh OJ when I drink it and their quarts of fresh OJ are excellent. I love this store! The management is superb and the folks that work there are always friendly and helpful. The gals at the sandwich counter make the best sandwiches in town and always have fun suggestions. Dirk and Zeke, the managers, are always looking to bring in new items and the selection has greatly improved on organic and unique items. Julie and Hilda at the registers are so friendly. Carmen in the meat department is the best--she knows my son's name and always asks about him. It's awesome to shop at a store where you know the names of people who work there and of the other shoppers too. My favorite place to shop in the area by far...I'm there almost daily. read more

Such a pathetic store. Not sure why it still operates. Very deceitful. Went in today, saw honey crisps for .99 cents a pound but at checkout they didn't ring up at .99 cents a pound. Was told by the rude lady at the register that it is a mail in rebate and that I should read the fine print. Really, read fine print on a store advertised yellow sign that says manager special!! Give me a break. You won't get my $s anymore. Looks like they have forgotten already about the previous bankruptcy and layoffs. Amazon Fresh will boot you folks out of business soon and am rooting for them to do that. read more

This is the VERY BEST food store in Monterey / Carmel area - bar none. This is due to the superior store management of Dirk VanOst. He cares to make sure to hire the best checkers and helpers. I even had one of the baggers personally come out to find me in the parking lot because I forgot some of my items at the bottom of my cart. More recently I had 11 star service from Hilde cashier and Stephan bagger. In addition to that they have a real artist named Zeke who worked on an apple display. The produce is fresh, the store is very clean, I get rave reviews when I buy the steaks there, and I receive friendly service throughout the store. The Pharmacy staff at Luckys goes above and beyond to make sure everything is done properly, when we are standing at the counter, they give us their attention and listen to every word no matter how busy they are. My 93 yr. old mother takes 18 different Rx medications which means the pharmacy staff has to be on top of matching insurances, refill dates, and new prescriptions. They carefully explain any new orders or new medications. All their efforts and coordination with the Drs. means we don't have to worry. This Lucky's in Carmel Valley is phenomenal, they are so intentional about bringing in local product as often as they can. Their staff is kind, patient and incredibly helpful. Every time I go there, the store is perfectly clean and easy to find what I need. I'm so impressed by the assortment of products and prefer this store, even when it's a bit out of my way. I love this grocery store. They have had a recent remodel and upgraded their deli and now offer a coffee bar. Cannot say enough about the staff. I especially love the welcome I get every time I visit. Zeke is the manager and very helpful. Tracy one of the cashiers could not be more sweet. There are too many employees to recognize.
