Ordered a general tso shrimp over the phone, I understand it's not in the Menu but you guys can make substitution. That's what a good restaurant do, they first refused to make it, then I pushed them and said how hard is make shrimp instead of chicken? So they finally made it for me. I also ordered small cup of hot and sour soup, it was okay, just the basic and now the reason I'm giving 2 stars. You have no option of rice? Why should I pay $2.50 for rice for eating a Entree. So you guys want me to pay $16.95 for shrimp, $2.50 for rice soup was $2.50 and if I want fried rice I pay another $10. That comes to $35 with tax for take out. Spring rolls were fresh, pork was tender and flavorful, the chow mein had a hint of garlic (blew my mind), and the pork fried rice had a hint of brown sugar maybe? I use to come here a lot when I lived in Maple Valley, I now live in Kent I have drove to Lucky Chopsticks two times and they have been closed or closing. I look on the website first to check to see if they are open. The website today showed they were open until 9:30pm we pulled up and got out of the car and the waitress came out and said they were closed. It was 8pm I asked why does the website say they are open until 9:30? She just said sorry but the kitchen is closed. Then she turned around and asked would you like something to go? I said no we want to sit down and eat. I got back in my car and said how can the kitchen be closed and then offer up to get something to go??? One of my very first jobs was at a chinese restaurant. I have had good, great and poor quality chinese. Golden Chopsticks has great food and service. We have been in the restaurant 5 or 6 times and have enjoyed every dish. My boyfriend and my favorite is the BBQ pork, It is served warm and it enhances the flavor. This is THE BEST bbq pork I have had. My boyfriends favorite is the Mongolian beef. Mine is the Mu Shu Pork and the kids hands down, the PuPu Platter. Everytime we have come in Damon the owners wife comes by several times throughout the meal to check on us. In addition, he said if we ever want a dish served differently, he would customize it for us. THIS is excellent customer service. Both the waitresses are nice. The place is always pretty busy with to go orders flying out the door. **as a bonus, they give you a 5% cash discount. That says they are really thinking of their customers. This place used to be The Golden Phoenix. Of the two locations I thought the other was better. Something must have happened because the other location has a sign in the window saying they are no longer affiliated with this location. These guys told me that they wanted to use higher quality ingredients and serve a better portion all wrapped up in better service. This lovely restaurant is just about as good as it gets when it comes to Chinese cuisine. Their blend of Mandarin & Szechuan food leaves you wanting to order MORE than you could ever eat in one seating, just so you can have "seconds" later! Their Honey Walnut Prawns is NOT TO BE MISSED! 'Best I've had - ever! The Broccoli chicken was fresh and even their luncheon special portion was considerably filling. The nicest surprise, on this cold wintery day, was their wonton soup. It was high quality with what looked to be homemade wontons and a broth that was immediately soothing. Another plus was that, upon checking, they do not use NO MSG in their food, which is especially important to a lot of people (including me!) I did not see this posted on their menu, so perhaps best to ask when ordering. Finally, the service and presentation of the food was superb! Our server kept checking that we had enough water and fresh, hot tea - which is served in a delightful little round, clear glass pot. The food was piping hot and came to us fairly quickly. The booths are comfortable and, as this was a birthday celebration and reunion of friends, we enjoyed lingering without any sense of being rushed. The service was fast and We ordered chicken egg foo young, BBQ chicken chow mein, lemon chicken, egg rolls, and crab rangoons. The chow mein was delicious and not greasy at all, the lemon chicken sauce was light and tasty (the chicken was a little tough, but not too bad), the egg foo young was well cooked and tasty, and omg the crab rangoons were AMAZING! Unfortunately we have tried coming back to this restaurant several times and out of the 3 or 4 we have been disappointed. We feel like it's quite a bit more than our normal place located in Covington so I guess we will be talking a short drive for Chinese food for now on. I think other Yelpers have really underrated this restaurant. To eliminate any confusion, this space used to be home to one of the two locations of Golden Phoenix, a different restaurant which still operates, now at a single location in Covington. The new owners for the Maple Valley space changed the name, but kept the previous owners' menu largely intact, however they stepped everything up a notch. Golden Chopsticks is a substantial improvement. The dishes now seem to have much brighter flavors and better texture, the presentation is more attractive, and the service is more warm and personal. The generous BBQ pork appetizer is a (delicious) meal in itself. A couple of of my favorite (among many) standout dishes is the Golden Sesame Chicken and the Crispy Orange Beef (beautifully presented encircled with orange slices). Soup lovers will love the textbook egg flower soup. It would be impossible to list all of the dishes that are made really well at Golden Chopsticks. The restaurant has a full bar, and they feature a delicious array of classic tropical cocktails, which perfectly compliment Asian cuisine. Hint: order the "Scorpion Bowl" for two...you won't regret it. The decor at Golden Chopsticks is several notches above all of the other Asian Restaurants in and around Maple Valley. The space is charming, bright, extremely clean, and comfortable. Of course, the entire menu is available for takeout as well. Maple Valley now has many new restaurants, and residents naturally tend to flock to the newest option. But if you haven't been to Golden Chopsticks for a while, you owe it to yourself to go back. Ordered here through doordash, something weird happened to my order and I still don't know what happened mostly due to the fact when the doordash driver gave the phone to the lady in the resturant she instantly started screaming at me as I tried to ask what happened and figure it out. She would not even listen to a word I was saying and kept screaming at me until the doordash driver took the phone back, in which I could hear her still screaming at him in the background. Horrible experience, horrible customer service. Will never order or dine here again since they obviously dont value their customers and decide to scream at someone trying to figure some confusion out. read more

I was excited to finally try the honey walnut prawns my husband had been raving about. They were good but the resulting stomach cramps and nausea all night lead me to believe something wasn't right. When we got there no other customers were in the restaurant and I now know why. We've eaten here before and the food is okay, that's why we go to Moon's Garden, better food. Took a loot at the menu and everything is around 1 to 2 dollars more than Moon's, okay not that big of a deal. I ask the server, "can I switch out the House Special (whatever it was) for the Mongolian Beef? Since it's less than the house will I be charged a change fee"? "Yes, that is our policy". Hey buddy, I understand policy but no one is eating at your place and it's a Sat night. You may want to change your policy or close shop. We had a very excellent dinner tonight I had the General Taos chicken it was actually crunchy like it supposed to be. The fried rice is different then the standard very delicious. My wife had the Scheczwan shrimp with fried rice and chicken chow main. The dinners also come with egg rolls and chicken fingers deep fried like tempera. Vegetables have been mushy, fried items not fried until crispy, sauces tasting more like packaged/container sauces, etc. We really liked this place just a little over a year ago. Went for the first time last night. Food was good, surprisingly good. But service was worse than lousy.

I've been coming here for years, even when I lived in Auburn I would make the trip up here for take out or dine in. I would come on Tuesday or Wednesday nights as those usually are the less crowded nights. Friday and Saturday night tend to be pretty crowded and can slow things down. Love the food! Ideally, I honestly haven't had any food from this restaurant in years since I was a young kid. Recently I moved back to the mainland and kept driving past here! My younger brother loves their fried rice and finally after convincing myself and Dad we went in one Saturday night. They have these large combo plates that literally have it all, and they're HUGE in portion! I ordered the Mongolian chicken! It's very peppery and when I asked the woman who was serving us, she was from Hong Kong! It was delicious! The portion was massive and so we were able to take some home. It's truly your classic Chinese restaurant that has it bright pink sweet and sour chicken sauce. The interior is comfortable and seemingly clean! The only odd part is the excessive amount of ice that they fill each water cup with! After trying the variety of General Taos chicken and Kung Poa, it was perfect. Crispy where it needed to be and not too much peanut over powering the protein! I'd be back to enjoy this local place! I was shocked by the immense amount of take out orders they had.
