Fantastic gem in Covington! Delicious, beautifully plated Thai dishes made with care. The Gaeng Kiew Wan (green curry), Kor Moo Yang (grilled pork), Larb Ok Ped Nam Tok (roasted duck breast salad), Guay Tiew Tom Yum (soup) were standouts. Charming setting with friendly service. I've only ordered takeout- but the restaurant has always looked clean and quaint when I've been in to pick up. Give them a try if you're looking for solid Thai food. I'm pretty convinced Thai food isn't for me. I have had a few decent meals, but most of the time, I'm less than impressed. I decided to try this place and although it's doubtful I'll return, I can recommend it. I found $17.50 a bit ambitious for lunch, but when my plate came, it was truly a dinner portion. There is no way you come here for lunch and leave hungry and I can tell you, many places could serve lunch on a saucer, not here, this was a large plate and it was full. The flavor didn't impress me, but again, 99/100, I'm walking out of Thai less than impressed. Service could not have been friendlier. The people struggled with English, but they knew enough to take and serve your order. I think 4 stars is fitting for this place, I'm probably closer to 3 stars, but the service and portion were both over the top and again, I've had a lot worse when it comes to Thai, so you should give them a try. read more

I like this new owner than the previous one. The menu is not so typical Thai food. A lot of home made dishes. The soup noodles come with fish balls and fish cakes. We noticed the fish cakes are not something I have seen in Seattle. Sure enough, it is home made by the chef. The price may be high but you can tell a long of time put in to make a bowl of noodles. The red curry duck breast is good. The sauce is bold and tasty. I like they offer brown rice as well. They kept the previous decorations with the old school Thai cafe look. The restaurant is small but the decor is clean and modern. I am not very familiar with Thai cuisine but I like spicy food. I ordered the Tom Yum w shrimp spice level 3.5 stars and it was just right. The temperature of the soup was so hot I had to stir and wait a bit to be able to eat it. I also ordered a side of rice to go with it. Very good sized portions and was cooked nicely done. They don't have fountain drinks so I ended up getting 2 cans of Diet Coke. About the soup, it was spicy yet sweet. I am not sure if that is normal or not. But as I said, I enjoyed it very much. The service was friendly and helpful. There is seating at the location with lots of ways to take your order to go. The servings are very generous! read more

I had the Tom Yum Soup. Compared to Thai Chili in Kent, it was like, well, I can't go there. Let's just say I wish Thai Chili had been open. The flavor of both was incomparable. Covington Thai was sweet, had about three full tablespoons of unedible shrimp scales, and had other unexplainable components. I tried take out from here over the weekend and was very impressed. I was a bit reluctant since the pervious Thai restaurant in this location wan't very good. Good news, this place is really good! The Massaman Curry was fresh and very flavorful. The Pad Thai noodles also were excellent. The chicken Satay had more of an Indian curry flavor which was different and also very good. This is located at the strip mall next to Safeway. This is the same location where another Thai restaurant (Chok Dee) used to exist until not too long ago. Not sure if the management/ ownership changed or just the restaurant name changed but they definitely have more options. The food tastes pretty good. There appears to be several vegan/ vegetarian options as per the menu although the description on almost all items says they contain shellfish. It's a bit confusing. Perhaps they mean, it can be made without shellfish? So if you have any shellfish allergies or need to avoid it for whatever reason - do confirm if they can positively exclude that. Ambiance is the same as the previous restaurant as the overall design of the restaurant has not changed. For now, I'd recommend this place for good Thai food in the Covington area. read more

There are a few tables inside for indoor dining but despite the good ambiance and cute decor, we opted for takeout. My husband ordered the pad ka prao and I ordered the pad kee mao. We both loved and were impressed by the amount of flavor in our dishes. This place gives rice with their stir fry dishes which I've never gotten at the many Thai places I've eaten at. Covington Thai Cuisine is a new spot (for us.) We have been rabid fans of Noodle Boat in Issaquah but now we have a local gem. Well presented, spiced impeccably, and large servings. Appears to be a family owned business. Go to the counter to order and what a variety to choose from. Husband had pork belly (definitely not my choice) he was over the moon to have it. Large portion, crispy and crunchy served with a hot sauce.We ordered truly delicious Phad Thai, brown rice and Tom Kha soup. We both enjoyed our orders and took home leftovers for lunch. Food was just not very good. Ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, Panang Chicken Curry, Fried Rice and Chicken Wings. The chicken in each of the entrees was rubbery and gray - odd texture to it. The wings were crispy but upon biting into them they were raw in the middle by the bone. We were the only patrons in there...should've been our first clue, I guess. This business has changed its name from chok dee and probably has new owners. The sauces are great, the proteins are terrible. Phai Thai tofu was 4 star rating. The other three meals I ordered were Chicken and beef dishes and tgey were all fat and tough 2 star. It's another restaurant that will be gone in a few years.
