Hi Corporate Headquarters Manager: Your workers are rude, unfriendly, impatient, neglectful, inappropriate and discriminative; especially Jason. Your setup is catastrophic, disorganized, lack of clear signs and carelessness to detail. I was scrambling to locate a very specific item due to severe allergies and I had to practically stop Jason as he appeared disgruntled. He profusely conveyed to me that he was trying to learn the map for the resetting and he had just returned from a six week leave due to a passing. When I requested for assistance, he was frazzled, clueless and said, "I don't know." I asked for the manager and he said, "The manager is with the General Manager." Excuse me. What happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE??!! I apologized to him for bothering him. Your self checkout technology is disastrous and excessively sensitive. I informed your male worker that I am injured and the scanner was malfunctioning but he nonchalantly said, "No problem." I am gravely perturbed by this deplorable experience. A week before Thanksgiving for 1st in over a year 1/2. Due to major hip replacement surgery. I haven't been able to grocery shop I went to grocery shopping. Allen the checker was working he's awesome known for years. 2 guys in my line start a fight!. Chaos . Unfortunately My Sephora Gift card wasn't in my bag. Proof of payment for groceries wasn't in my bag. Lucky's customer service/unfortunately no was available. I finally got a hold Keith the manager also a super real nice manager. I came in the day after Thanksgiving,I told Keith the entire story. Keith says Karen how about I give a Lucky's gift card $30- to me that's awesome manager that alone calm me. Allen the checker he was great apologized that my Sephora g card didn't go home with also. Also Andres he also help me amazing gentleman! Produce. Very large tall man w/ glasses, balding. Staring down my Mom and I for getting 2 bananas from a bunch. Where does it say we have to buy all 7? This is one of my go-to grocery stores since it is on the way home. The store itself is big and organized. My only recommendation is to double-check the dates on items prior to purchasing. I always do and found one that expired in January, and we're almost in April. Cashiers are always nice here and helpful. read more

Everything was well maintained and fully stocked when I did a quick walk through. I was only in need of a present bag so this was a quick trip for me, but this looks like a nice place to get your regular grocery shopping done. It was pretty quiet too on a Sunday morning. One of their entrances is blocked off, which we didn't realize. We had parked near an entrance and then as we walked up, realized it was an emergency exit only and had to walk down the parking lot to the other entrance. read more

I'm grateful Lucky's was still open even tho lots of other stores were closed on Easter. My cousin had a last minute predicament. We needed helium to blow up balloons for her daughter's birthday party. Which was in less than an hour. Walmart was sold out. Target, Michaels and Big 5 were closed. Home Depot lied. She had called Lucky's before arriving to check if someone would be available to help her. She arrived at Lucky's and waited 10-15 minutes and no one came to the counter. I met her there, I went to self check out and asked the assistant if she can call for someone to help with balloons. She did an overheard announcement, waited 10 more minutes, no one came. I wasn't surprised they were short on staff, but wow. Finally, we gave up on waiting, went to pay for 2 packs of water, food, cupcakes, and cake. The cake was cute and all, but dry and extremely sweet. The potato wedges & tater totes had a huge gas smell and salty. The chicken breast were okay, but also huge gas smell. read more

2 days ago I went to this location to purchase food for work and found mold in my calzone I got from their deli section (there was also no expiration date listed on the item). Today I came to return the calzone and was told to grab another one by the staff and found this one to be even more moldy (this one had an expiration date for nearly a week from now, yet it was extremely moldy already?) I returned to the cashier, got a refund, then I figured I'd just grab a can of soup and realized this item expired almost 5 months ago! (Do you realize how long canned soup has to be sitting on the shelf to pass its expiration date?!) I promptly left the store at this point after notifying staff for the third time about their expired products. After reading multiple reviews from over 6 MONTHS AGO about this location constantly selling expired products and seeing this is still an on-going issue, at this point, either the owners just don't care or the staff is just too lazy to toss or even check the dates of the food they sell. Take your pick, but what I am sure of is that the customer service team that's reading these reviews does not care to change this on-going and very dangerous issue. Do not go to this store, and if you do, make sure you check the expiration date of what you buy! read more

The current store layout is a bit confusing, but it is well stocked. Also with the entrance on the Southside of the store shuttered it makes sense to park closer to the entrance on the Northern side of the building, As for parking it's ample, but again just take into account where the entrance is located. Positives include the fact that the store is clean, with a staff that had been cordial during my visits, and shelves that are well stocked. With the exception of the Extra aisles on the North side of the building the store is easy to navigate. Also use the Lucky Mobile Application this gives customers access to discount , free items, and frequent shopper rewards. read more

Some people get ice-cream sundaes when they take random drives. Other people like to end up at a nice beach or park or other natural place at the end of a random drive. Me? I sometimes go full-on grocery shopping on a random drive. I (almost) always have bags in the trunk of my car, right? And I can almost always stock up on at least one thing or class of things even if I went shopping less than a week ago, right? Well, I came to this Lucky on the front end of a randomish drive. I'll be honest that I did want to go to a supermarket to pick up some things because guests were arriving and I didn't want to pay through the nose by going to a corner store, plus corner stores don't (generally) have bagels, now do they? I love Lucky. Or I used to love Lucky. This Lucky? It's really really really expensive, for some reason. Like way more expensive than its Fulton Street-in-San Francisco sister store, or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about because I haven't frequented that Lucky since lockdown started in March 2020. It is impressive inside, especially to the left as you enter from the parking lot. The design and layout of the inside is odd, but not in a magical-feeling mysterious way, more in a Why-did-they-do-it-that-way? way. Like there's this expansive bakery and butcher section, and then the normal meat of the market, and then what? There's this weird area in the middle that looks like it used to be another store that they built this Lucky around and tore down the exterior walls. And then the section with all the drinks and alcohol and snacks and specialty foods is insanely huge. That part reminded me of the Southern California Alpha Beta supermarket chain (RIP) of my youth. Why aren't there any windows? They carry Original New York Seltzer, so that's a huge bonus. Their snack section is epic, but I still couldn't find any Rold Gold honey-braided pretzels. I haven't seen those anywhere in a few years, but I could always find them at my Fulton Street Lucky, so boo-hoo on you, Daly City Lucky! And I came back to use some coupons and pick up even more necessities, as in a real grocery run, and it felt the same. Even more expensive, but the same. The checkout people are emphatic about you getting a discount by shopping again within a certain time frame. I understand promotions, but jeez! I get it. You don't have to keep telling me. Will I return? Certainly, although I don't know when. Mostly, I want to introduce more people to the middle, because it's so weird. read more

This is my go-to neighborhood supermarket! I really like this one over the closer Safeway in Westlake as this Lucky seems to have a better selection of items overall. This is also one of the nicest Lucky supermarkets I've been in! HUGE spaces leave me spoiled for choice as I wander around looking for what I need. This was also one of the only supermarkets that didn't seem too crushed by supply chain issues during the Pandemic, so that was a big relief for me. Very rarely will I run into items that are nearing or past expiration on the shelves, but that's happened only a few times in the years I've shopped here. The only thing that kinda irritates me is the unpredictability of the self-checkout counters. They always seem to be in a state of repair, or they'll pop error messages at me while I'm scanning items. But there's at least one or two operating whenever I go in. Today, I went to return a product at Amazon and met an employee who misled me by claiming that the return kiosk was broken, directing me to Serramonte Mall instead. After leaving to grab some food, I checked for another Lucky location but found none at the indicated mall. Returning to confirm, a second, truthful employee informed me the kiosk was operational. Retrieving my return item, I crossed paths again with the first employee, whose surprised expression I met with silence and proceeded with my return. It's a pretty decent, possibly fancy, Lucky's. Definitely better than previous Lucky stores I have visited--but it feels... a bit haunted? You kind of walk around and there is this void lingering over you as you put the cheese-its in your basket and wheel your cart to the checkout. It's not bad or scary in any way, just slightly alter-dimensional. Also you can only enter through the far door, so make sure to park at the back side of the lot or else you're going to be walking a while--not to say that's a bad thing, I mean we can all probably use more walking in our lives anyhow. For starters... shoutout to the frontline workers for working hard and providing service to the public. It means a lot. Entrance is now on the left side of the Lucky's building. It used to be on the right side towards Starbucks but they closed that area off. Due to COVID, sometimes there is a line, sometimes there isn't. Regardless inside, there is always a line to wait now with the 6ft apart tapes on the floor when waiting to pay, which is good! Better to be safe than sorry. However, considering this location is decently big, I notice this Lucky's can be hit or miss or not as stocked when needed to be. This experience is even PRIOR to the pandemic breaking out. Decided to come here since I was in the area. Located in a Mission Plaza shopping area. There's plenty of parking and a bunch of shops in small spaces. Lucky's is a typical chain supermarket with a rewards program. If you're a part of this program, certain items have better pricing. I'm not a member so I don't know first hand what is offered. The layout has a pretty big produce section and items can be located with signs at each isle. Customer service tries to help you. read more

This is strictly for the checkout process. The lines were insanely long. Went into the self checkout, all the units were crashing. 100% of the stands were blinking for Employee Assistance to continue. I come here four times a year. There was two Lucky Employees staking out at the center of the Self Checkout for a few minutes. Several shoppers tried to catch their attention. They were too busy gossiping to care. Then a shopper approached them, one of the ladies was absolutely angry about being bothered. They spent about two minutes fixing the problem on the stations. Then went back to bitching. They then were joined by another coworker. More problems happened, two of them disappeared & the remaining lady was totally having a fit with customers. I'm guessing people walk out the door all the time. It was super time consuming to pay here. The staff doesn't seem engaged or happy. They've sealed off the 2nd entrance & seem completely understaffed. Maybe their corporate & upper management need to understand that hiring, paying & managing staff is way to run a business. After living in Daly City for 10 years, so much has changed, and more for the good. I pretty much know every employee of Lucky and Smart & Final nextdoor. I can't imagine why there's so many negative reviews for Lucky. One of the best part is their deli section. And it sure does pay off to be nice to everyone at Lucky. Simply being polite, I get extra portions of whatever I request, and get to have a nice dialogue with folks behind the counter. Animus begets animus. Things are hard these days with supply chain issues, COVID, inflation, but it's never worth taking frustration out on others that is not at fault. While grabbing dinner, the roommate and I realized we needed a few things from the supermarket. Since Lucky was right there, we stopped by on Monday, November 26th around 9:45pm. We just ended up getting a few boxes of soda. They were the boxes of 12. I believe they were on special, so it was either buy three or two and get one free. I can't recall. But most other markets have similar specials, so I'm pretty sure it was standard. This location is in a pretty dead plaza. Well, at least at night. They only have one operating door at that time, so you have to walk all the way to the left of the store to enter. Kind of a pain for me as I met up the roomie after grabbing takeout by walking across the plaza. So I had the walk the whole length of the store to get in. (Yes, I'm super lazy!) Convenient if you're at Mission Plaza and need to do some grocery shopping. read more
