We are always excited to try a new place so off to Cotati we went. Actually we went twice in two weeks! They are easy to find with a nice bright sign on Old Redwood Highway. I read some reviews that stated the service was off, but on the days we went, it was quite the opposite. Two men were pleasantly attentive and our water was always full without us having to say a word. The dining area was fairly busy when we walked in for our late lunch so I was happy to see they are already getting some good business. Lunch specials come with soup of the day, egg roll, and choice of fried rice or steamed rice. Small upcharge for chow mein ($1) or chow mein/rice combo ($2). The hot and sour soup was flavored perfectly and the egg roll had a lot of filling so it was substantial and quite delicious. What a great start to our meal. Beef with mushrooms - I don't eat much beef but decided to make an exception. There is a generous amount of tender meat in this dish! The fried rice was fluffy and not greasy. Overall, the beef dish was a little salty for me Eggplant with fried rice/chow mein - hubby is a big eggplant fan and he loved the flavor of this dish. He would order it again without hesitation. The chow mein noodles were bouncy and again, tasted freshly made Kung pao chicken with fried rice/chow mein - lots of peanuts on top with stir-fried chicken and a nice variety of veggies cooked to perfection Wor won ton soup - filled with veggies and well flavored dumplings and a couple bonus shrimp. The veggies included peas, carrots, napa, mushroom, zucchini. I appreciated all the perfectly cooked veggies, not mushy at all. I would order this again but would like to try the west lake soup next time We look forward to coming back with the kids because they have so many other enticing dishes. We love their robust menu and different offerings including a few dim sum dishes. First time trying Lucky Garden and overall we really enjoyed it! We ordered takeout online, everything was ready on time, the restaurant looked clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The honey walnut prawns were definitely the standout--fresh, perfectly cooked, lots of delicious sauce, and they were very generous with the walnuts. The chicken fried rice was also great, with plenty of white-meat chicken and vegetables that actually still had some texture and tasted fresh. We also received complimentary fried wontons with our order, which were warm, crispy and delicious. I liked that their sweet-and-sour sauce wasn't the super-sugary bright red kind, although personally I would've liked it just a little thicker and sweeter. My only real disappointment was the golden fried tofu. The outside was beautifully crispy, but the inside held a surprising amount of water and was a little too soft for my taste. It may have just been an off batch. Overall, great food, generous portions and wonderful service. We'll absolutely be back to try more of the menu! read more

Lucky Garden restaurant is located in the Grapevine Shopping Center in Cotati. I was there for a late lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I was very much surprised to find the dining room over half full with customers at 2:45pm. They seated me on the far side of the dining room, and I waited about 5-mins for someone to bring me a menu. A young lady brings me the lunch menu, and we discuss what's good to order. I decide on "Ginger Scallion Fish and Fried Rice lunch plate," and Potstickers. OMG! The lunch plate is 5-stars delicious! Generous portions! The Ginger Fish was fresh, moist, and tasty. The fried rice was moist and showed the charring of "wok hei." The egg roll was crispy and had crunchy shredded veggies. The hot 'n sour soup was perfect in taste and appearance. However, the potstickers were the frozen type, and had no flavor. I had to drown them in soy vinegar and soy sauce to eat them. If this restaurant has so much business, they should offer "house made" potstickers. Ginger Fish Lunch Plate, Price $14.45 Potstickers (6), Price $10.85 This is a nice spacious restaurant. It has separate mens and womens restrooms. Lots of free parking in the shared lot. Overall, a very good first time experience and I would return. I decided to try this new restaurant in Cotati. I had heard good things about it. I decided to get the princess chicken, I got the soup and rice to go with it. I was judge a Chinese restaurant by the hot and sour soup. This one was delicious. The princess chicken had just enough spice and there was enough food that I was able to have two meals. The white people were very friendly, and I appreciated their attentiveness. The restaurant itself was not very fancy, but it was comfortable. I went here with 2 other people but ordered enough for 6-7 ppl. Why? I haven't had good Chinese Food in a while (since my fave Jennie Lows closed) I have especially been in search of a good crispy Hong Kong style chow mein. So I wanted to try several dishes (and I went really hungry... bad idea, lol) The dishes we ordered were; crab puffs- these were really good. You could actually see and taste the crab in there. It wasn't mostly cream cheese like a lot of other places. The house special crispy chow mein and bbq pork crispy chow mein- the toppings had a lot of veggies and the sauce was good, tho a bit too salty. But the noodles were way too deep fried to the point that the sauce didn't penetrate them and they were a bit hard to chew. I asked for extra brown sauce and they were very accommodating. Chinese chicken salad- the lightly breaded chicken was good with a lot of shredded lettuce and little crispy noodles. The dressing needed more flavor but we added some soy sauce and that helped. We also got green beans and beef. This was quite delicious. My niece added chicken curry- this came with chicken breast, onions, carrots and bell peppers. I found it bland but she liked it. The portions were so nice and big. As far as ambiance, that could use some work. The walls are this cafeteria like salmon color but the booths are comfortable. The service was excellent. Everyone who works there is so nice. Too nice even, this one guy kept coming and checking our table every 5 minutes, lol I don't know why. At the end a lady asked us how the food was and we all said it was great but I gave a note about the noodles being overly fried. And she told us, next time you come, let us know and we won't fry it so much. I really appreciated that. So all in all, I really recommend this restaurant and look forward to trying other dishes. read more

Walked in and was greeted into a clean, well organized dining room by the owner and young but savvy and attentive waitstaff. The menu was well laid out and easy to navigate. We chose to start with 2 orders of dim sum selected from a limited but pleasant array of choices. Also, we added the salt and pepper chicken wings from the Appetizer section. The dim sum was well prepared. The chicken wings were a fine example of what a good 'salt and pepper' Chinese American preparation should be, not too salty, shatter-crisp batter, and slightly briny meat - all steaming hot! Following that impressive foray into deliciousness, we ordered their Mongolian Lamb and the Sesame Beef. Whilst they both arrived piping hot and looking amazing, the flavors were well-composed and textures were crisp, we found the Sesame Beef sauce to be a bit overwrought by a cloying thickness and the Mongolian Beef lacked the spice profile and aromatics such as lacking significant cumin to make this dish craveable. However, they were not bad - but when I return, I will probably order different entrées. Overall the experience was GREAT and I look forward to multiple happy returns to Lucky Garden. Cotati is indeed most fortunate to have such a pleasant Chinese American restaurant as you have carefully constructed. read more

My wife and I were very excited to see the grand opening signs. Luckily the wait was worth it as the food was delicious. We took our food togo as we were short on time (and i forgot to take photos before eating so forgive the lack of full portions in the images). Bbq pork buns (steamed char siu bao) were filled generously with plenty of flavor. The bao themselves were not dry or dense. Vegetable fried rice had a good balance of veggies. They were not over seasoned and the rice still had a good firmness Lemon chicken had a nice fry to them (and we were pleased that they weren't 'nuggets of chicken but actual breaded chicken). The sauce had a fresh lemon taste and was just the right consistency. Walnut sweet buns - perfect as our "dessert". Nice bites of walnuts with a sweet sauce inside (similar to a cinnamon roll in flavor). The bun itself was soft and looked amazing. Overall great experience. The staff were very friendly and answered all my questions without issue. Restaurant itself is clean, well decorated and welcoming. We will definitely return. read more

My wife and I went to dinner last night and we were absolutely blown away by the ambiance as well as the food and the service. When we entered the restaurant we were immediately greeted and seated. The low volume of the noise level and the neutral colored walls brightened up this beautiful establishment. We ordered our drinks and then our food shortly after. Everything came a decent pace and arrived in good time. All the food arrived to our table pipping hot with great seasoning and all tasted delicious. This was a very disappointing experience. Gone are the days of having lunch at an authentic Chinese restaurant. I am Cantonese heritage so I do know the difference between authentic and Americanized. The entrees at Lucky Garden are over-sauced. A good chef seasons the food perfectly, without having to add a ton of sauce with the seasoning in it. Lighter sauce is preferred so that the food is not drowning in it. I requested an appetizer that was on the menu, but was told they no longer make it. Please remove it from the menu. Servings are very small, child-like portions, IMO. The waiters are too attentive, coming to your table every two minutes to remove an empty dish, etc. We were of the opinion that they were trying to rush us out for the 12 o'clock rush hour. Not very nice! We will not be dining here again because of all of the above. Also, the tiny parking lot does not accommodate the many stores that are in the tiny mall. Good luck, finding parking. I would rate this one of the worst experiences in authentic Chinese food that I grew up with. If there was an option to give zero stars or -0 stars, that's what Lucky Garden would get. Went for the first time last week after seeing rave reviews on socials. I had the lunch special beef with green beans and chow mein. All SOO good. This is my fave dish I order from another local place so I wanted to see how it compared. IMO way better! Everything was fresh and the veggies were cooked just right. Still with some crunch. Hot & Sour Soup is in my top 5 but I like mine a little more peppery but that's just personal preference. Decided to go again today to try something else- Snow White Garlic Chicken. Yummy garlic sauce with chicken breast, onion and green onion. Again delicious! Had a mostly diff wait staff the second visit. But both times it was nothing but smiling faces and they really are trying hard to make it work and give you a great meal. Prices are awesome and it's so clean and bright inside too. read more

It included: Egg Rolls; Either Sweet and Sour or Wantan soup; BBQ Pork Fried Rice or Chow Mein; Cashew Chicken; We replaced Mongolian Beef with Curry Chicken; Chicken with Mushrooms on a Sizzling Iron Platter; and Walnut Prawns. This place opened a few months ago, replacing another Chinese restaurant. I popped in on a whim and grabbed an order of potstickers to snack on. Of course I can't say with 100% certainty, but although they tasted okay, they seemed commercially manufactured rather than house-made. I looked on Yelp to see what others had said about this place - and was shocked/disgusted to see that they had SIXTEEN health code violations in their July inspection. I mean, they literally opened a short time ago - how do you rack up that many violations? I absolutely will not be back. read more

My husband and I had been eagerly anticipating the opening of Lucky Garden. As someone who is Chinese and grew up enjoying authentic Chinese food in San Francisco, I've always felt that there haven't been many great Chinese dining options in this area. Chinese food is my comfort food, so I'm so happy to have a new restaurant with authentic flavors. Lucky Garden opened just last week, and we've already been there twice-once for takeout and once for dine-in. Both experiences were excellent. The food is delicious, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. Every dish we tried was full of flavor, and you can really taste the wok hei. Last week I ordered food to take out and did have to wait a bit, but that was understandable since they just started and were popular. The customer service was excellent. Very helpful. Specifically, a young lady, who seemed to be waiting on tables, helping to-go customers, and checking people out at the register. The young gentleman who was there was a little lost and wasn't really able to help much, although he tried. Overall, we really enjoyed the food. The veggies were fresh and everything was cooked perfectly. We ordered the beef broccoli. The ratio of beef and broccoli was perfect. The beef was tender. My only slight complaint would be that it needed some more flavor. We also ordered the sweet-and-sour prawns, which were delicious. We also had the vegetable chow mein. There were lots of vegetables, maybe not enough noodles, and again lacking a little bit of flavor. Maybe just needed more soy sauce or something. But I will definitely be going again. We ordered- Walnut Prawns, Beef and Green Beans, and Chicken Chow Mien. We ordered online, received a free appetizer, because our meal was over the said price. All portions were plentiful. However, Walnut Prawns were overcooked and rubbery. Chow mien noodles could of used a little less time (overcooked), The rest of the food choices were on par with some other Chinese restaurants in the area, for us we will probably not be back as we have found our favorite Chinese restaurant, and Lucky Garden is not it. read more

Food just ok. Prices decent. Mongolian beef pretty tasteless and no heat st all. Sweet and sour chicken pretty good and decent proportions. House chow mein bland and little meat, no prawns. Spicy lemon prawns was scant, maybe 14 tempura type prawns on small side with a separate sauce that was pretty flavorless and little spice. Was hoping for much better food. We went to Lucky Garden for late lunch/early dinner. Food was just wonderful! Waitstaff was attentive but not overpowering. The walnut prawns were delicious and the fried rice was outstanding! Our favorite Chinese restaurant in Novato, China Village, just opened a sister restaurant here in Cotati. We came from Novato to congratulate the wonderful and talented owners, Kelly and Ken on their grand opening. My hubby and I love their new spacious location filled with awesome natural light. We love the very comfy booth seats next to large windows that allow us to soak in some beautiful sunlight. Our waitstaff Andy and several others (sorry I did not get all of their names) were all very helpful and friendly. We love and pretty much always get the same items: honey walnut prawns, Singapore fried rice noodles, beef chow fun, salt and pepper chicken wings, and crab rangoons. First off, we almost never write Yelp reviews of any kind, but our recent meal at Lucky Garden was over-the-top delicious, and we are so glad that Lucky Garden has opened. Three of us ordered a wide range of dishes at lunchtime. Each dish we ordered was exceptionally fresh, very flavorful, and served in generous portion sizes. The tables are large enough for many platters to be served, and the seating is spacious too. The restaurant is sparklingly clean (though a bit minimalist in decor), and the service was gracious and attentive. We ordered seafood, several different meat dishes, as well as vegetables and moo shu, and everything we ate was very delicious and appealing. We wish the staff all the best with the success of Lucky Garden; it's a standout! read more

I went with 4 friends yesterday. The food is AMAZING. The best Chinese food here in Cotati. We had pot stickers, coconut prawns, Mongolian beef, hot and sour soup. EVERYTHING WE HAD WAS SO SO DELICIOUS. My friends loved everything they had to. WE WILL ALL GO BACK AGAIN. The service was excellent. They are all very nice. The place is so nice and clean now.
