I've eaten at Lucky Liu's several times. Most recently, I ordered online and opted for delivery, something I normally don't do but it was cold and slippery out so I decied to try this option. I give Lucky Liu's a 5 star rating for their sushi. They have a large selection, is very fresh, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend the lunch special which allows you to choose 2 (or 3) rolls and comes with soup and a delicious salad. However, I was unimpressed with the Chinese and delivery options. First of all, it was very difficult to order from their website; it was glitchy and difficult to remove unwanted items from the cart. I also was unable to add my free California Roll/Crab Rangoon to my order (which they do on all orders over $25) which then made me decide to order less. Second, from the time I placed my order to the time it was delivered was well over an hour... the delivery man could not find my house and had to call me. By the time I received the food it was no long hot. The container containing the Peanut Chicken was leaking and made a huge mess. My biggest complaint was that they did not give ANY RICE, which was obviously suppose to come with the soupy chicken/veggie dish. I have never ordered Chinese from a restaurant and did not receive ample amounts of rice. The food itself was good. I had the peanut chicken and beef lo mein. The lo mein was less greasy and the meat was of better quality than many fast-foot/take out Chinese restaurants. I do recommend Lucky Liu's for Sushi (dine in only!), but would not suggest ordering delivery Chinese from this restaurant. read more

We use to love ordering from Lucky Lius however when they make a mistake with an order and do not admit it, and then call you a liar, that is not acceptable. It is not about not getting the ribs, or $7.00, it is about being a decent person. We use to order every week, and that will not happen again. The man who answers the phone should learn customer service. I don't care if he owns it or not, be a human being, admit you messed up and make it right. If it is between Lucky Lius and a pizza, go sausage and cheese. Being busy and /or short-handed is no longer acceptable as an excuse for being rude, you should be thankful you are busy, however you are not. People, order from another restaurant! read more

Just ordered delivery from this place for the first time. It was terrible! I know Milwaukee is not known for good Chinese. But the positive reviews had me hoping... Nope. We just got back from vacation in Florida where we had delicious cheap chinese. So I was craving it again. The sesame chicken was a large portion, however it was totally over fried and hard as a rock. Yuck. Moo shu pork had a gross taste like burnt oil. The pancakes were thick like tortillas, never seen that before. Crab rangoon was not crisp at all, it was very doughy tasting. The last dish, veg egg foo yung was ok but the gravy was rather bland. So, Lucky Liu's! I gave them a try last night. Its good, standby Chinese food when I need a fix, and...bonus, it's in my neighborhood! I ordered delivery through the Yelp app, which has become my preferred method for obtaining food. I dont have to pick up the phone, my credit card info is securely on file, I prepay the tip so it feels easy and seamless. Lucky's wasn't my most favorite Chinese take out, but by far, it was way better than my least favorite. I ordered my standard favorites of an egg roll, crab rangoon, steamed dumpling and ( to eat later) the chicken with mixed vegetables. The food arrived before the time expected (****!!!!), delivered by a friendly man who thanked me for the tip. My favorite item was the crab rangoon. Shaped like little purses, they had a ton of crispiness. Yum. I liked the (shrimp) egg roll, but it wasnt my favorite. There were big pieces of shrimp stuffed into an oversized roll. Next time I think I'll try the spring rolls. The dumplings were in my opinion meh - too much thick dough and a bland filling. However, honestly, i was so full from the generous portions of the other stuff that I didnt need much. I am pleased that i portioned out 3 lunch servings of the chicken and rice. The search for good Chinese in the midwest continues. While I havent found anywhere as good as I'm used to on the east coast, Lucky Liu's makes it into my top 3 in Southern WI. I went with a friend. I dont remember everything we tried, I know I had bourbon chicken, teriyaki beef, and wonton soup. My friend had sesame chicken, spring rolls, and we both tried fried rice. Bourbon Chicken is not a traditional Chinese-American dish and I was surprised to see it on the menu. It was cooked well and full of flavor. Teriyaki beef might have been the best thing we tried. Slight sweetness, tender, I dont think it even needed a sauce. Honestly I dont remember everything we tried but nothing stood out as something I wouldnt order again. I'm actually looking forward to going back, and I cant say that about too many Chinese food restaurants around here. read more

Hands down, the best. They are so consistently good I have never had an issue or bad order from here, and I have been going here monthly for the last 2 years. I get the egg drop soup, shrimp egg food young and general tso's chicken. The gravy that comes with the egg foo young is sooooo damn good. The sauce for general tso's, nothing like it. Always had a good experience and the owner/staff has always been friendly when I pick up or do delivery option. I will always support them and choose them over any other Chinese in town. read more

Purchased a large shrimp fried rice it had no taste at all. The rice was absolutely awful, it's usually really good first time for everything I guess.The young lady at the counter, customer service wasn't good! I called ahead to tell her that I was on my way to the window she replied "just come to window". I ended up waiting outside where people started standing outside from the bar up the street, she also answered the phone while I was waiting for my card and food. It's always the young staff at this location that lack in customer service skills. I am pretty sure I will not be back. The reason I called ahead to alert her that I was on my way to the window was because a had a bad experience with no coming to the window for over 10 mins even with ringing the bell! read more

Honestly, this is the second time I've experienced an extremely rude staff. They did not let me even complete my order before cutting me off multiple times with "anything else?". Furthermore, I kindly requested that my one order be split half-and-half into two separate containers...they said no, this is against their policy. What? We ordered food from here as we were staying the night in Milwaukee. It was a little different from the Chinese cuisine I've had before. I didn't particularly like the cut of beef used in the fried rice or Mongolian beef. The garlic chicken was good. I also didn't like the egg rolls because they were mostly cabbage. Lucky Liu's is an adorable and tiny restaurant paired with a friendly staff, SUPER yummy food, and solid prices. All in all, it was a win. We got the Egg Foo Young and the Hung Sue Pork and they were both delightful, fresh, and filling. One of the most solid Chinese restaurants that I've been to (and honestly, that's quite a few in my day). You don't typically find such great food in such clean/non-divey restaurants. I ordered for the first time tonight. I work on the East Side so I based my decision off of the reviews for Chinese delivery around the area. This was one of the few that only had a $1.50 delivery charge vs $5. It was easy to order, pay, and tip online. They arrived right on time. I ordered the crab Rangoon and the beef lomein (requested spicy). It was delicious! And they added a little calendar as a gift! I assume for the holidays. This is our go to Chinese place here in Milwaukee. Best egg rolls I've had so far, my only wish is that they could offer more than shrimp. My family always does takeout, so I can't speak to the dine experience. My first experience I would have given a 3 star review only because the women on the phone was rather short, but ever since my first order I've had nothing but excellent service. My personal favorite is the chicken and vegetables combo but I've also had the Kung pow, and sweet and sour. You know that movie, "There Will be Blood?" There will be review updates. Lucky Liu's does Chinese AND Japanese cuisine, and they deliver. This review is based solely on the Chinese delivery end of things. I've heard pretty good things about their sushi, and I am most certainly excited to try their Japanese stuff. But, I digress. The setting? A cold-ish, rainy Sunday. I'm a bit hungover, and I had just played in a pretty hard-hitting roller derby bout the night prior. I'm nursing my wounds and my ego (we lost again), so I'm hibernating. Me and the kittycat are snuggling on the couch, enjoying the first thunderstorm of the year. I'm oscillating between "Criminal Minds" and "Planet Earth," and sweatpants and blankets and pillows and it's awesome. I'm hungry and I don't want to go anywhere. (Would you want to?) So I call Lucky Liu's and decide on Chinese fare as opposed to the Japanese stuff even though my heart beats for it. (sushi + even the slightest of hangovers = not so good) The guy on the other end? So so funny and really really nice. Like, exceptionally nice. This surprises me, as most of the time ppl on the other end of the delivery spectrum are generally cranky. So that's the first bonus. The guy on the other side of my door? Also very very nice. More so than most ppl on the other side of the door. Again, I am impressed. The food? Yes, it's "Americanized" Chinese, but for what it is, it's really quite good. The veggie egg foo young was surprisingly good (water chestnuts and broccoli and bamboo shoots and bean sprouts = yum), as was the shrimp fried rice. I enjoyed it. It wasn't greasy or overly salty or anything... it was well done for what it was. (And frankly, who CARES if it's Americanized Chinese? Everything has its time and place, and this had a time and place in my belly right then and there.) I am a fan. I want to try their sushi. I want to try other things. Leading with: General Tso's Chicken: this is the FIRST time that I've had this here and found something nearly identical to what I was eating in Chinatown back in NYC. It's got texture, a little crunch, red chiles, awesome spice, a little steamed broccoli and it's goddamn awesome. EAT THIS! Anyway, I ate it two nights in a row, delivered once to my place west of Marquette (delivered within 25 min) and to Vintage (delivered in 35, but we ordered during the dinner rush). Both nights, I ordered the General's in a combo plate with white rice and spring rolls. They offer a choice of rangoon or rolls, steamed or fried rice, and additional soup for $1. There was also Cashew Nut Chicken, Dragon & Phoenix, Fried Dumplings, Crab Rangoon and Spicy Tuna Roll. (segue to...) Sushi Delivery. Not something that I'm entirely comfortable with. Lots of handlers, no idea how it's transported or kept...lots of room for trust to be abused. I was pleased to see two bags for the delivery, one with all of the hot food, and a smaller separate one for the roll. The roll was pretty well chilled too, so /edit - weird, the review cut off- so, I was pretty impressed with the delivery style, and the roll itself was really well made and presented rather well for a delivery.
