I love the Lucky Spot as much as the last Hanoverian, but when there are ants crawling on the table and the wall and food crust on your "clean" silverware, it's not a good dining experience. The food is cheap, that's true-- and the service is fast, but the environment just made everything feel dirty. read more

I love the lucky spot for breakfast. My man and I been going here now for 5years. Go no where else for breakfast. They got great service, very cheap prices and all the coffee you want cheap. I love the Big Lucky, that Texas toast with scrabble egg, your chose of meat and cheese. Comes with Home fries or Hashbrowns. But they got a great special everyday before 11am. 2 eggs, choice of meat and choice of potatoes 5.75 with coffee or tea included, other special come in snd check it out. YUMMY!!! read more

I really want to love this place, as I have a soft spot for diners and great breakfast food. My husband got a country scramble, which was really delicious. A nice level of potatoes and fillings to eggs. I got the chipped beef, which was kind of bland, but nothing S & P can't fix. The issue I had with it was the texture. You can't just throw flour in a gravy to thicken it, you have to cook it out. This just had the texture of raw flour at the end that was unpleasant. We did agree that they had the best scrapple in Hanover, which we've been looking to find! The food also came out relatively quickly and was definitely on the inexpensive side. The main reason for the low rating was the service. At first, our waitress was just okay. She was by no means friendly, but she seemed attentive and kept up on our coffee and checked in on us. Once we got our food, she pretty much forgot about us. My thing is, if I worked in a place like this where most of the patrons are older and I didn't make great tips, I'd jump at the chance to give a younger, and probably better tipping couple decent service. That's just me. We will probably go back and try Lucky Spot again. I just hope the chef will improve the gravy and we get a different waitress. read more

Went to lunch with a friend on a Sunday. Place was quiet, cheap lunch, good enough. Apparently they have pan-fried chicken every second Saturday from 3-8PM. I wonder if it's good? Seems to be something they sell pretty hard. read more

I just moved into the area from Florida and I've been trying out the restaurants that the locals enjoy the most. My dad and I decided on the Lucky Spot this morning and I was pleasantly surprised! It's a small dining room with a hometown feel. Neat, clean and tidy! The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. I was facing the kitchen and I could see that the back of house staff is organized and efficient. Our food didn't take long to get to the table. It was cooked perfectly and with the bill for 2 people totaling only $14.36 we left full and feeling it was a great meal for a great value! Here's a shout out to the gentleman doing the dishes..he was handling his business efficiently and in such a small restaurant you can usually hear noise from the dish area but not in this establishment! I typically do not eat breakfast, mostly because I live away from this place (my home town) and don't want to pay $30 to eat at a chain restaurant. Every time I get to Hanover, I make this restaurant a MUST STOP for breakfast. The price is astonishing, the staff is amazing and the food is almost perfect. I paid a few dollars for a breakfast meal, that I don't think I could even buy the bacon for. Now the bad... I would suggest ordering the potatoes "well done". But, really? That's the only bad thing. We sort of wandered in here by accident and were pleasantly surprised. We didn't know that they only serve breakfast on Sundays, so we modified our order somewhat (no egg on the hamburger) to make it more lunch-like. Great service, good food and good prices. I hate eating breakfast and midway through staring at the bottom of an empty coffee cup while the wait person walks by like I'm invisible. That is one of the main reasons I like this place, because that has never once happened to me here. I enjoy the breakfast skillet which is. Combo of eggs with cheddar cheese, biscuits, home fries drown in either sausage gravy or cream chipped beef all for $5.95. You would think for that price the portion would be small. Food is alright for the most part but dont expect good homemade soups. For example the hamburger veggie is obviously just cheap frozen vegtables with beef and broth. I would be asgamed to serve that. And speakint of service is also hit or miss depending on who you get. Overall not bad but nothing to go out of your way for. read more
