FINALLY! I found THE Chinese food place. I've been searching for years to find EXACTLY this type of food. It reminds me of college and my twenties when I'd eat this after a drunken night out or the next day hungover. The family meal for 2 (beef broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp fried rice) was LITERALLY PERFECT. Delicious, fresh, flavorful, great portions. I also ordered the tofu with mushroom, and it was so amazing. Great sauces for all the dishes! Chinese restaurant fried rice is a hit or miss a lot, but this was a HIT. It's hard to find a Chinese place with decent reviews, so I wanted to help uptick this spot. It's pretty inexpensive for the large portion sizes (we ordered smalls and we have two meals of leftovers meals between 3 people). Before, I've had the orange chicken-- it was good, but ORDER CRISPY and NOTE it has. the orange peel bits. Last night, we got bbq pork fried rice, which was massive, delicious portion.. BEEF CHOW MEIN which was our FAVORITE of the dishes. Deep brown in color with mushrooms and tender beef. Then we not recommend the chicken and cashew chicken.. it looked like gelatin and has translucent onions too... once we got over that, the chicken was lean and tasted good mixed in with other items. Our new go-to place for Cantonese staples. Food is quality ingredients, tasty, and you get ample portions for the price. (Which is reasonable). Dishes that are reorders: Chicken with Broccoli, Mongolian Beef, Egg Rolls, Pad See Ew. Yes, don't sleep on the Thai dishes on their menu. This place used to be my main Chinese spot. Been coming here since I was a kid. I went and got my regular order today and the fried rice was filled halfway but the prices have gone up. Got take out on a Friday night. Quick turn around and great food! Loved all the tofu/vegetarian options. Got the General Tso tofu and it was delicious. Very spicy which we liked. The tofu was a great firmness. Would have loved a little more brocolli or even the option of adding more but it was great and fresh. Also had the vegetable fried rice. Very good. The vegetable egg rolls were probably the best we've ever had. Crunchy and not overly oily. The wontons were okay but there was no filling like we thought they would have. Husband liked them so we'd order them again. They gave a good amount of complimentary sauces and fortune cookies which I appreciate. The order was ready when they said it would be (which again on a Friday night to have a minimal wait was great). Clean restaurant and efficient pick up. They changed the egg drop soup recipe. It isn't as yellow and is lacking some flavor that the previous recipe had.

They have obviously changed ownership. The people were nice enough but I had ordered here many times and not been disappointed. This time, the egg roll was overdone, the General's Gao's chicken was not spicy and so overdone it was tough and leathery. The crab rangoon was soggy because they put it on top of the chicken and rice. There was no hoisin sauce with the moo shi veggies and the pancakes were stuffed in a box and dried out rather than put in an insulated bag as I have had them before. This used to be our regular place for Chinese. I think they must have changed ownership sometime during the pandemic. It doesn't even distantly resemble its old self. Generally, the food quality has plummeted. Egg rolls are as narrow as pencils and hard as a rock. Pan fried noodles were stale, hard and ice cold. Beef Kung Pao was packed with green peppers and other fillers, but light on the actual beef. Nothing tastes fresh. They're just going through the motions here. I wanted to like the food from here, I really did..... It was hot and seemed fresh, but the seasoning. We got two very different chicken dishes in brown sauces and the were both full of either clove or star anise. Either way, it was utterly disgusting. $90 down the drain (it was a big order). As others have noted, the "egg rolls" are more like spring rolls and were not good. Best thing I can say is that the fried rice was ok after I added some soy sauce. Gong Ho in Downers is our usual go-to and I will be sticking with them in the future. Also, side note, when I went in to pick up, the place smelled horrible. Like stale grease and horses. Just don't. The place looks like a great eat in, cozy spot and I'll have to come back for the dine-in experience. The food was A++! Service was good very friendly. Food was not very good. My mom got beef chop Suey and I got sweet-and-sour chicken and we did not like it. The breading was undercooked and this sweet-and-sour chicken. Nothing special about the sauce or taste of the breading and chicken and the beef chop Suey had his very weird taste wasn't very hot and it was for a pick up, this was recommended, but I would not recommend it. They are very small and overcooked. It's just a place in a strip mall couple doors down from a Rosati's Pizza and next to a liquor store playing pictures on the wall. General Tso chicken oh how your food portions are so generous! Seriously had left overs for lunch then next day. What I love about Lucky Star is the fact they are super fast. I usually order a side of chicken fried rice with my rosati's pizza order too. Call it strange but in my house its tradition. Since they are next door to one another who can resist? New to the area so have had take out here several times in last 2 months. Overall the food is ok to good. Always hot and packaged well. We have found egg shells and chicken grizzle often in the various meals. We get a variety as we have left overs each time. Extremely salty...to the point that one has to consume a lot of water during the meal. Now I do like a bit salty but this is over done. Food is otherwise tasty and most ingredients are good. The main lady who takes the orders needs to take a class in customer service. She is not very friendly... Gets orders wrong often... And is not very apologetic or willing to rectify situations. Last time we ordered... I ordered pan fried noodles with shrimp... She charged me for the shrimp dish but gave me beef! Getting her to give me the correct order was like pulling teeth. And they would not deliver the right dish so we had to go pick it up! 4 stars on the food. 1 star on the customer service. I wanted to rate then 2.5 stars...
