There is some dining space though their business revolves mostly around takeout/delivery. Needless to say, they're owned and staffed fully by a local family so support local! For those working in the Oak Brook/Downers Grove area, Lucky Wok is a good lunch delivery option. There seems to be a dearth of Chinese takeout within delivery distance relative to the availability of other excellent sit in restaurants. You can't really go wrong with any of the dishes. I really wanted to love this place it was recommended by a friend I took the 20 minute drive. And it was a waste of time and money for $36 dollars I got a large chicken fried rice that was sprinkled with chicken and the rice didn't even seemed fried and it had no taste. We also got an orange chicken which was pretty good and a chicken egg foo young which had absolutely no chicken and no taste. I'm not a sauce person and to get this food down I had to drench it in sweet and sour sauce. The service was good and the decoration could use some sprucing up. I will not be returning if you want good Chinese food go to number 1 chop suey in Oak park. I'm never disappointed and the food is always delicious it's worth the hour drive. read more

We used to eat here a lot. Ownership changed and now it's horrible. No flavor at all. We had the Mongolian chicken, Hunan chicken -- extra extra spicy, and the crab Rangoon. Mongolian chicken had more onions then chicken and bland. Not spicy at all. Hunan chicken had no flavor and was not spicy.....let alone extra spicy which I asked for. (Some places have gloppy lumpy gravy, theirs was perfect) The beef fried rice was a bit light in color and taste, and had a sweet flavor that wasn't appreciated. The beef and broccoli had some chewy fatty meat and also had the sweet flavor. The broccoli was nicely slightly firm still. The fine cut pork chop suey had a dark sauce and not the light colored sauce typically associated with this dish. Zero pea pods and also a slightly sweet flavor. My family wanted to try somewhere new for dinner. Lucky Wok looked a bit dirty inside, but I thought maybe we won't judge the book by its cover... A terrible decision. The first thing we found was metal dish-scrubber fiber in the fish fillet! Swallowing that could have sent one of us to the hospital... How careless do your workers have to be, to allow something like this to even happen? Well this wasn't the end of our issues, we all stopped eating as I decided to check the rest of our order for any more problems, and then I saw it. There was something on the peking pork chop... It looked like a thin brown hair but as I picked it up, I see the hair is attached to part of a chopped in half beetle/cockroach. Many legs were still intact and it was all coated in the sauce. We are absolutely disgusted, I want to throw up just thinking about this "restaurant". Everything is in the garbage now, where it belongs. I don't even want to know what was in the corn soup... If I could give this restaurant a 0 I would. I ordered fried wonton's that were chopped in little pieces and VERY greasy. Tasted more grease than wonton. My husband order a combo plate that had lots of grease in the bottom of the tray. They could not answer me if they were the new owners. The only thing they said was the new menu was as of Dec 10th. This spot was interesting. We missed it the first time around due to their actual hours not matching up with the hours posted on Yelp. Decided to give it another shot a few days later - after calling to confirm the day's hours, that is. Our table was so grimy and sticky when we sat down that my Irishman grabbed a rag and wiped it down himself - and it was still sticky even after that. Not the best second impression on top of the wrong posted hours. I was personally hoping for a home-cooked quality of fare, regardless of what meals were being served on. Unfortunately, this was definitely not the case. We ordered a sizzling rice soup and a sweet and sour chicken. The soup came out quickly, a tall plastic container filled to the brim with fresh-cooked veggies and shrimp. The server then announced she would get us two bowls, and returned with two short empty plastic container. A few minutes later, a small white waxed paper bag joined the table. The definitely-not sizzling rice component. We weren't terribly impressed, though certainly amused at this unusual experience. Some good minutes later, the server reappeared with three to-go containers pressed against each other between her hands - a tall paper container of battered and fried chicken, a shorter paper container of white rice, and a plastic container of sauce. Portions were decent for a large order, though again definitely not home-cooked fare. The sauce was clearly premade and full of cornstarch with barely any veggies thrown in for bare-minimum effect. The rice was on the dry side. The chicken was typical battered and fried chicken pieces you'd find at any food court Chinese fast-food joint. I used to love this place, but from reading reviews it seems they changed ownership. Nothing I ordered tasted anything like it used to unfortunately. They used to use those very thin almost curly noodles in their lo mein, but they switched to the fat noodles which I'm super disappointed about. The egg rolls tasted off and the general chicken was very bland with only 2 giant chunks of green pepper (supposed to have baby corn and mushrooms.) Their delivery person didn't know how to use my apartment call box, even though I left very detailed instructions. I'm sick so requested no contact delivery and he made me come down and get my food. This used to be our favorite Chinese takeout place for the past 7 years. I know the business was sold about a year and a half ago. The quality has gone way down. The new owners tried to change the recipes to cheaper ingredients when they were first sold and they probably lost too many customers. Then the food returned to it's goodness. Now a year later, same thing has happened. They changed their recipes to cheaper ingredients. I understand the pandemic has been hard on restaurants. I try to support local businesses. A few favorite places are long gone because of the pandemic. Lucky Wok still has the best prices in the area, but the quality and taste of the food shows it. Lucky Wok is out of this World!!!! A few years back, we catered from them for over 50 people. Lucky Wok was the talk of the party. The pans of food were delicious and mostly meat!! :-) We get food from them all of the time. It is hot, tasty and the portions are huge. We just catered from them last week (for over 30 people). The pans of food were delivered hot, delicious and ALL MEAT! :-) We have gone to other restaurants where you order (for example) General Chicken and half of it is vegetables-not Lucky Wok!! Lucky Wok in my FAVORITE Chinese food restaurant in the United States. I have tried Chinese food in IL, FL, AZ, CA and no other restaurant compares to this spot. My family and I have been dinning here since I was in junior high or high school. It taste just as delicious now as it did 13 plus years ago. They have the best lunch menu. The restaurant have a lot protein, noodle, and rice options on their lunch menu. My best advice is if you missed lunchtime (until 3:00pm) and the entree you plan to order is on the lunch menu the staff will charge $2.00 more outside of the lunchtime frame. Personally, I think this is a better deal. My favorite items are: The Shrimp Egg Foo Young (the best I ever had), the Hunan Shrimp (a must try), and the Crab Rangoon. Their Crab Rangoon has the best quality of cream cheese and wonton I ever tasted; in addition, each piece is quite large. I can go on and on with how great this Chinese restaurants is. Gotta say, if you want your money's worth for some decent Chinese food, Lucky Wok is the place for you. I've eaten a few of their take-out dish from family friends who visit and would bring us some food and it had always tasted decent so today I decided to go to the place and check it out myself. Plus, it was Chinese New Year and being a Buddhist, we had a tradition of being vegetarian on the first day of the Lunar New Year for good karma. We picked Lucky Wok because they have a decent Vegetarian selection and was very affordable. We had a group of 3 so we ordered 3 entres and 1 Large Hot & Sour soup that all came out to roughly $20. We had plenty leftover to take home afterwards. Even if you had ordered a small it was decently proportions and it was for under $5. There were some dishes that were House Specialities but they were still very good deals at $5-$8. Today I tried everything vegeterian: Vegetable Kow, Tofu Country Style and Egg Foo Young Mushroom. The Egg Foo Young, hands down was the best I have ever tasted and it didn't even have meat! I didn't even miss meat the whole time we were eating. The veggies were fresh and green and they were cooked just right, crunchy and not over-cooked. They did used a lot of corn starch in their sauce as far as I can tell because it was thick (so note that one meal will make you full for a while) but their seasoning and flavor were not over the top or too salty. The only thing I wasn't totally fond of was their Hot & Sour soup that tasted too sour! It tasted like they had went overboard with the vinegar but hey, if you are a die-hard fan of that soup, you'll find a way to get used to it. Overall, great place. So affordable if you are a college student or anyone just looking for cheap Chinese eats. Come here to order or get take out. You just gotta know that if you are going to eat-in, they don't have bowls and they will give you your food in Chinese cartons and plastic boxes (it's ready for you to take to-go afterwards). There are no official silverware or plates, so plastic forks it is! It's not about the service or presentation here but their food alone will leave you feeling satisfied ;) Oh and Credit Card payments of amount $15+. read more
