Came on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. They luckily got 6 of us right on a lane. The drinks are normal LA prices $10-$12 and the food ranges from $8-$15. What killed me was the music. We specifically came on a Saturday night because they have a DJ but the DJ was horrible! He was playing 70s music all night and when we asked if he could play some more updated or at least 90s music he said "Sorry I can't." We would have had more fun at a regular bowling alley dancing to more upbeat music! The crowd was mixed and the vibe was just very low key. Sadly because of that, I will not be coming back here. most people go to church on sundays. i like to go to lucky strike. for me it doesnt get any better than an good old fashioned knife fight i mean beer pong tournament, a little karaoke, a few drinks, a game of pool, and a dj spinning all my favorite songs, not to mention theres bowling too. its like doc brown and his delorean have taken me back a few years and dropped me off in my college dorm. what can i say, this place has got it all. its like a one strop shop for adult entertainment. the people are pretty friendly and so long as you're not being belligerent the staff lets you get away with murder. security is pretty heavy though as its 21+ after 10. i dont know what else to say except that if you're not having fun here then there is something wrong with you. this place is legit and you can even buy regulation size bowling pins in various colors. awesome if you ask me. read more

What a great customer service! Fantastic. Let's bribe our guest to pay us under the table to move ahead of the line to bowl! Unbelievable! Called to make reservations was told there was no wait came in and all of a sudden after 15 min there is an 11/2wait. What are these strong drinks people speak of?? If I had just had at least that, it would have been worth more stars. I was forced here because my friend wanted to bowl for her b-day. Bowl? Awesome! I used to be on a league and we had a great, trashy, drunken time! But a dress code? At a BOWLING ALLEY?? How the hell do you bowl all dressed up? Fine. Whatever. i was impressed at first by the appearance. Okay, it was pretty inside. Trendy but cool. All loungy and chic and shit. But the wait for the lanes was horrible and our drinks were so weak no one could catch a buzz. Including the light weights. Maybe it also had to do with the fact that our waitress was never around, so drinks were few and far between. When we finally gave up and went to the bar and ordered from the bar tender, we were literally scolded and yelled at by our "lovely", and "attentive" waitress. ?? Tough shit. You ain't around, I need to get my liquor fix. Good was good. Big deal. As good as Claim Jumper. A few days later, we finally get our lanes and play. Playing is fun, but now our waitress was even more scarce. Maybe to punish us. We finally glimpsed her rushing by us, several of us tackled her, held her down and ordered. I finally had to tell her to please actually ADD vodka to my vodka drink this time. Then the walk to the bathrooms was scary. You walk down a long, flickering, empty, industrial hall way. Mental note: Bring mace next bathroom trip. Amusing though when every time I walked out of the bathroom, I would see a poor lost female with a look of fear on her face wondering if she was going the right way. I would helpfully tell her to "RUN! Don't loiter!!" Of course we don't let b-day girl pay and when we get the bill we are shocked at the price of bowling. By the hour. Who pays by the hour?? I prefer my dingy bowling alleys where you wear your comfy duds and get greasy fries and burger at the food window and a good stiff cheap cocktails in the dark, cheesy, outdated bar. read more

I was wasting time here buying drinks and playing some video games. I don't know how anybody actually bowls here. The lanes seem jammed and packed. They also have a dance floor. However, it was a decent night as I was sitting outside and met a semi-famous drunk female. Let me just say I took advantage of her and don't regret it. My first time bowling was a bust. Horrible service. I still tipped 20%. They had this horrible band screaming pitchy vocals so pound no one could hear each-other. The host was not kind. This is the prettiest, coolest bowling alley I've been to. A group of about 10 of us came for dinner and a few games. There's really nothing special about dinner. The menu is essentially wings, burgers, pizza, plus the option for alcohol. After dinner, we worked our way down to the lanes, which is really pretty with all the dim, colorful lights. The seating area for the lanes is also comfortable and well designed, resembling a lounge with couches rather than having a line of ugly plastic chairs like many other alleys. The only downside to Lucky Strike is it's a bit expensive, both food and games. Still, it's a modern alley that's convenient and fun for small gatherings. I'd gladly do it again! read more

I would really like to give this place a good review. I've enjoyed myself with my friends and I happen to love bowling... However, the last 2 times here, the bar has tried to screw me. First, I was with a group that had specific drink specials at $5. I was charged 5 for my first by one bartender, then 8 by another bartender for my 2nd. Even worse, tonight... I got a well whiskey and ginger ale. Specifically WELL. This was after the bartender told me they didn't have stuff for the first 2 drinks I ordered (no sweet vermouth and no Bombay gin... Really?) So I settled on a simple whiskey ginger ale, to which the bartender asked "what kind of whiskey," and I said specifically WELL. Well, I got the bill for 2 whiskey gingers and $6 fries... $50. I asked about it to the different bartender who was closing me out (who was the manager) and he said I had been charged for Bullet not Well. The adjustment brought it down to $23. Less than half! Like I wouldn't notice. The manager said it must've just been a mistake... No, I specifically asked for well and he knew it. That was a blatant attempt to seriously over charge me. As far as I'm concerned that is tantamount to theft. He expected I wouldn't notice. Ha! Check your bill if you come here. BTW, I should also mention that this was not a busy night at all, and several of the group I was with waited quite a long time to get their drinks. So, slow service from a thieving bartender. ---------- *I wrote this while still there... As I was leaving, the manager I'd spoken with approached me to say it was his mistake. He'd wrung up the order, not the bartender, and there was someone else with a B name who had bullet (something like that) and next time I come in he'd buy me a couple drinks. While I appreciate that and I'm glad the manager was trying to make amends, I don't believe that story. He was not behind the bar when the first drink was ordered and even so, it was the first drink being put on a new tab. Makes no sense someone would get it confused with another tab. I would rather he had told the truth and reprimanded the bartender, rather than protect him and take the blame with a poor excuse. I will enjoy the free drinks if indeed I get them if I go again (not sure how that would work and he should have given me some sort of written drink comp ticket), but I will not be served by that same bartender again. ----------------------- **After reading more reviews I am now convinced this was a blatant attempt to over charge. It sounds like par for the course here, which the management is aware of and doesn't intend to stop. I assume this might be because they probably get mostly tourists and can fleece them easier. Doesn't make sense to me. The last time I was there was with a group that happens regularly, which includes free bowling and $5 drink specials. I assume they do that in order to try and drum up local business. And even then, they over charged me. This will never get locals to come back and bring their friends. I want to be able to love this place. I think it's cool and could be fantastic, but they need some serious changes. I also have been here with a celebrity friend who has gone a few times. So they have a full bar, big woop...don't most bowling alleys??! After all the traffic, and that horrid parking structure at Hollywood and Highland, it's just not worth it. I had fun, but that's just cuz I was with a fun group. I could've had just as much fun at Mar Vista Lanes or the one on Pico and fourth. If only there were "0" stars... Mike the manager was incredibly apathetic to our less than pleasant experience. When we decided to go bowling, we were thrilled that there was one in our area and very much looked forward to going. (We actually called beforehand to see if we needed to make a reservation, and were told that we wouldn't have any trouble finding a place to sit.) When we walked in, we were impressed with the design and layout of the lounge-like setting, but as we looked around we realized there were no seats at the bar, no tables available, and no lanes available, so, while waiting for a lane which would take half an hour to and hour, we had to sit in a section with "no service" just to sit down and share a couple of appetizers. Any and every time we needed something, we had to walk over to the bar and ask a bartender that couldn't move from behind the counter. We even had to go find our food, as it was taken to the wrong side of the alley because we had no server to let the kitchen know where to deliver the food! When I told Mike we were being neglected, he got irritated and blamed us for sitting in the section! (the only part of the alley that had open seats!!) According to Mike, their expenses are too high to hire another cocktail waitress. Yet it costs some in the hundreds to have a night of bowling at this posh bowling alley! And if there are no seats available at the bar, well you're SOL! When we expressed our concerns/ frustrations with Mike, he was unprofessional, rude, and took no responsibility for what had happened. He showed a complete lack of understanding for our experience. He has NO concept of what it means to give good service. His negative attitude and demeanor make it clear that he has no business in management, of any kind. He simply does not care about his customers' experience, just his bottom line. I came into town to hang out with my best friend and although we usually do one of the clubs I wanted something more chill this time around! No worries about the dress codes and extremely long lines that you usually have to deal with in Hollywood! I researched this place and sure glad I did because we hadst Blast! I didn't bowl but it sure looked fun! They don't have a bunch of lanes but enough. Looks like it can probably get pretty crowded but most of the people were chilling..drinking..and eating! My kinda scene for sure! Especially because there was no admission! And you know what that means?? More money to drink and eat! I will return here for sure :-) The best thing to do for parking if you cant find any on the streets is park in the parking structure right across from Lower hotel because its only a flat rate of $15! read more

My billion dollar company paid for a small management holiday party. Everything was great. Beautiful room, enjoyed the bowling and atmosphere. However our waitress was incredibly RUDE and condescending. What a disappointment to an otherwise perfect evening. We came as a small party to test for a potential party of 250 to rent out the space. It really left a bad taste in our mouths. She was very unprofessional. If this is the standard of service it's unacceptable. I went to this place for Dimebash 2016. Doors were supposed to open at 7pm. It was more like 745 and they had one person checking people in. We didn't get into the venue until 10pm. At one point they mentioned that they were at capacity and nobody could get let in. They sold tickets for the event and it was sold out and by sold out it was packed assholes to elbows sold out. Now I understand why the fire marshall shuts them down on a regular basis. The best part was when the entire bar staff stopped serving drinks so they could film Dave Grohl do a Pink Floyd cover song. This place is a joke, but I do recommend going to the Power House cocktail lounge across the street instead of waiting in line. read more

Had my sons birthday here and it was one of the best! Didn't have to worry about the staff or food everything was good... The staff was friendly and was on top of everything. There was always food and enough plates without asking and the drinks were always filled. They decorated with balloons and glow sticks and kept them coming for the kids. I sat down at the bar and the bartender passed me up three times. These ladies came and sat next to me and received service right away. So I made eye contact with the bartender and when he was finished servicing the ladies next to me, he continued to pass my friend and I by. So I said, "Excuse can we get some service please?" he immediately got on the defensive and told me "Whoa, what's with the attitude", I replied, "I don't have an attitude I would just like some service." He then got extremely RACIST and said to my friend "I've dated black girls so I know all about their attitude", "Black girls always have attitudes". I was SHOCKED! That explained why he kept passing me by so many times. It bothered me so much that I went and reported his behavior to the general manger Gene. He didn't do much about it and the bartender continued to be rude and racist to my friend and me. He continued to taunt us! At one point when my friend walked away, the bartender came and grabbed my money off the table, I told him no and to give it back and he replied, "Your a f--king joke". I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS LUCKY STRIKES AGAIN, based on the other comments I am not the only one who feels this way. I wanted to take him somewhere nice but made a horrible choice by coming here. I only gave this one star because the french fries were kind of tasty. Let's first start off at the door... strict dress code. Okay. This is hollywood... i get it. However when I am out with the ladies and one is wearing a white tank top with flowery cutouts around the collar, and I am wearing a plain light beige tank top (practically white)- why our third friend couldn't get away with wearing a plain white tank top was a bit ridiculous. Mr. door guy had to made it a serious point that she was in violation and even ready to kick her out! LAME. Secondly, the lanes are warped, majorly. Third, the service was pathetic especially for the prices of the lane, shoes, food and cocktails. If you want to bowl... go to a bowling alley. Well I walked in and immediately walked out. I went with my brother and dad, security asked for IDs and told my dad he couldn't come in because he was wearing shorts. Is this a nightclub after a certain hour? All I wanted to do was play two practice games, since I'm on a league. I live two blocks away and would rather get in my car and drive to PINZ. If you want to party and bowl, sure come here... Having a dress code/get IDs checked is a little ridiculous in my opinion; I guess we aren't the ELITE bowlers. read more

I would give this venue a zero if I could. We arrived at around 10:30pm on a busy Saturday night. We placed our name on a waiting list for a bowling lane and were told that the lane would be ready at 12:30pm. Understandable, it was a busy Saturday night and we had no reservation. We checked in several times during the evening and were told "about 20 minutes". We checked in 12am and were told that lane six would be done in 20 minutes because they were enforcing a 2 hour limit on lanes. We checked in again at 12:30pm and they finally asked us how many where in our party; there were 4 of us. We were told it would be another 25 minutes; the lane that was supposed to be "cutoff "was still playing (they were are larger party). They obviously were keeping the largest parties on the lanes to try to make more money, regardless of who else was waiting for how long. Worse, they lie about it. BOTTOM LINE: This place will lie to you in hopes that you spend lots of money at the bar; very unscrupulous and unprofessional. I recommend that you go elsewhere. We will never be back. read more

TERRIBLE Costumer service on the phone! I just called and spoke with some very rude guy who knew I wanted a reservation but hung up and pushed me off the phone before making it. He was difficult to get information from and it was like pulling teeth to find out how all their stupid rules work for reserving a lane. This guy should be fired. He does not deserve a job. Had a great time here with a group of friends. Even though it's a bit pricier than your run of the mill bowling alley, it is very cute inside. Bowling was 6 bucks per person per game and $5 for shoes. We played 2 games, so it came out to $17 a person, which I didn't think was too bad for the location and atmosphere. Went here with some friends and booked for two hours. We finished our game and then spent the next twenty minutes trying to find our waitress....twenty minutes that they charged us, BY THE MINUTE, more for the lane. Well, that doesn't seem fair. I am usually not one to complain but I was really upset because, not only was it rude of them and the whole experience very much overpriced, we just bought a house in Whitley Heights and live a five minute walk away, so I really wanted to like it! After twenty more minutes of telling the manager what happened, we were given some free bowling game passes. So, we were overcharged but they weren't complete jerks about it. lucky strike is a trendy bar, lounge and bowling alley all mixed into one. surprisingly the concept works. it's a good place to hang out with friends, or attempt to bowl while drunk. i've been here a few times, and have always had fun. the drinks at their bar are not expensive and surprisingly strong. i've never had their food, but i heard it was decent. drunk bowling is awesome!! and also very, very difficult. i think it's funny how people complain about the bowling here. obviously no one goes to lucky strike for serious or competitive bowling. read more

I went here for a company event and really enjoyed the ambiance. Walking in they have a stage and bar on your left. They have performances that are sold separately and also the bar caters to the after work crowd. On the far right side, is a nice secluded area that can be closed off by the curtains for more privacy. I also liked the upstairs which comes with a pool table and second bar. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere because it was very cool to bowl with all the lights and music. I must say the food is along the lines of ehhh and decent. Bowling wise was fun if you're okay with the price and looking for something cool and different. read more

Ode to Anthony (?) You were the saving grace of a night gone lame. As I arrived late to a birthday party (of moms, super tame) and spent another half hour finding my way (asking 5 different security guards where Lucky Strike was-none knew) from the bowels of the parking structure to the right lane. All had departed (babysitters) I was so agitated For I'd driven half an hour all for naught and to pay for parking left me also, distraught. I asked for validation (parking), and the bartender sent me to you: "Anthony will take care of you" (at least I think that was your name). Sir, you were the best thing about the crappy night. When I asked for directions to that *&#@*%! parking structure, you--gently, kindly, with the utmost of diligent professionalism-- pointed me in the direction of least distance to said structure. Laying your hand gently on my arm as you wished me a safe and good night, I felt peace wash over me like the fragrant warmth of a Calgon bubble bath; the ephemeral kiss of a butterfly softly landing on my arm; the compassion of a buddha in the form of an attractive older gentleman. Your kindness sustained me as I descended the hell levels of the dread parking structure again-- gagging among the smell of piss and skunkweed; wary, among drunk idiots chanting "white power! white power!". read more
