My wife and I enjoyed the Think X show on December 30 and had a wonderful time. This is the type of smaller venue that makes everyone feel at home. Yes, we all bumped up against each other, but there were never any hard feelings about it. Instead, everyone always had a smile. Despite the fact that the bar was PACKED for the show, our server was almost unbelievably attentive. Even closing out our tab only took 2ish minutes, with a couple hundred people present. the drinks were good and STRONG, too. This is what I like - if we're going to pay L.A. prices for drinks, make them good...and they did! As for the show, it was incredible and the sound was remarkable (and important note, as good sound is sometimes lacking in smaller venues). Plus, the tickets were only like 35 bucks! WE DID NOT get to eat, as all of the tables were booked, but I could see and smell other people's food and it looked INCREDIBLE. The venue is great if you like small-ish intimate music. -Musicians are great, no problems there. -Ambience is great, however not enough seats/tables. You must get there early if you'd like to find a spot to sit and enjoy. -Wait staff is MEH. Additionally, they should really tell customers that the water bottles they bring out cost $4.00 each. They didn't tell us until we asked for a "full breakdown" of the bill. -Also, keep an eye out for "included tip" followed up by additional tip line. I thought was sneaky. read more

Had a great time at The Mint celebrating my grandmother's bday. The music line up was amazing and very entertaining. The food was mediocre but I usually don't expect much from certain places. We did have an issue with our table size & reservation but it was quickly resolved. Unfortunately we also experienced an unwarm welcome from the security guard and lady at the door. They were both very rude but it was my grandmothers bday so I let it slide. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves and the vibe at The Mint is joyful. We really enjoyed the other patrons there. This is an intimate music venue showcasing many local performance talent. Ticketing is online via App, or available at the door. Weekend crowds can vary from too crowded to just right depending on who is on the ticket. There are also a number of weekday performances worth a try. Ticketing prices are very reasonable, and there is a table minimum for food and drink. The menu is strictly cafe/bar items, and it is well done. Some vegetarian option are available too. Draft beers could be colder coming off the tap, and they have a full bar with some craft items. read more

My date has a disability that makes standing difficult, and we only had general admission tickets with the seated section sold out. Have you ever had someone smirk at you when you're really upset? That is exactly what the manager at The Mint did. In the 1990's I loved The Mint--it was a wonderful little blues club. My partner even played there once, so out of nostalgia we drove for over an hour to take some friends there who were going through a rough time. We bought tickets but never saw anything stating that we needed to make an additional reservation to get a table. When we got there and realized this, we asked for another chair so we could all sit at the bar. It was like we asked the most impossible thing in the world. We are not picky people--we would have been happy with a folding chair. The manager's attitude was too bad--I don't care. We were belittled, laughed at and made to feel like we weren't wanted there. They also wouldn't give us a refund and were told to ask for one after we left. The owner, Todd Christiansen, added insult to injury and said "Too bad, if you had more experience going to venues you would know the drill.  Sorry it did not work out." When I told him we are older and some of us have serious health problems, he went on to tell me about his ailments. He seemed like he was saying I'm in pain and deal with it, so why shouldn't you? My partner has MS and one of our friends was recently diagnosed with cancer. Most of us spend the week getting stepped on and just dealing with it. I don't think being treated decently when you're going out to escape and have fun is too much to ask for. The only thing I am happy about is that we took the hundreds of dollars we spent on food and drinks to another venue. read more

If I could give this place a Zero, I would. Worst customer service ever. I purchased four tickets for a Saturday night show. Apparently that is a standing room only ticket, yet that is not overly clear when purchasing. When I arrived with the three additional people, we were told we could stand or sit by the bar. We figured o.k. we can sit by the bar, until they would not let us move one barstool over from the far end to where we were. They gave us some BS excuse about how they didn't have any chairs in the back (which I cannot believe. How many restaurants that have live music don't have a single extra chair anywhere?). Bottom line is we just left as this is not what we bargained for. I requested a refund and was denied. Fuck the MINT! read more

A great time was had by all. On this particular night, the rebirth brass band from New Orleans was playing and boy did they ever turn the place out. It was a full house, and the band was great. I meant has more room than most would think if you just looked at it from the outside. Going forward, I highly recommend this club to see some great live entertainment. read more

Very disappointing evening. My wife and I attended the Craig Robinson show tonight, and before he even took the stage, an aggressive, bald man suddenly slapped a drink out of my hand, tore off his jacket, and tried to start a fight. Thankfully, my wife and I are adults with careers and enough sense not to risk jail time over a drunken altercation on a Tuesday night. We defused the situation as best we could, immediately returned the remaining drink to the bartender (who, for the record, was fantastic), and left the club. We'd been having a great time up until that moment and fully intend to return another night--but it's unfortunate that the experience was derailed by one belligerent individual. read more

The performance and the acoustics were fantastic. Room to dance great. Cool venue. Warning: they ask for a credit card at the table (add on 20% gratuity but don't show that on bill) and said you can split the bill with a max of 2 credit cards. Ok cool. Later when I asked for the bill the waitress ran the one card and put an automatic 20% gratuity but did not show me this on the bill nor did I have any details listed on the bill. Just the total and blank line for tip. I said we wanted to use two cards. She said we're busy: we can't remember that you asked about that earlier. We'll have to reverse the charges and bill again. What!? You already ran my card? Fine. But why did I not get the $200 detailed bill before you initially ran the one card? That's not how a $200 bill works. You show customer the detailed receipt first and then he authorizes payment. What she did was not ok. Did she do it intentionally so I would not see that we had already been charged a 20% tip hoping I would not ask so she could get another 20% tip on top of that? Thank goodness I asked for the detailed receipt before signing and adding more tip. Beware. I have never had this happen and I go out a lot. I will still go to this venue because it's nice. But I will not give them my credit card to hold. Ask for a detailed receipt before they run your card. read more

It's my third time going and it's always the same problem. The food is okay for bar food. And the service is all right when you can catch somebody's attention. read more

1/14/2026 Went to support a friend performing for the first time at The Mint. Loved the venue! A very nice and rustic aesthetic, feels like you're being sent back in time. I had a less than comfortable experience with my server, Camilla. I understand where she is coming from, working ALONE in a venue of at least 15 tables (I didn't count) and dozens of orders, having to bus and clean tables as well. I would like to apologize to her for not tipping at all, and that it is in no way her fault, that she is being overworked and seemingly underpaid- seeing as she felt the need to confront me for not tipping. She may or may not have known that guests had to pay to enter, and definitely knew that guests had to pay to sit down in a seat at a table. As someone who works two part time food service jobs, and therefore being a "broke college student," that doesn't party or go out to bars (this is my first time going to a bar, I'm not even 21 yet) after being told "If you don't have the money to go out, don't go at all," I am not obligated to tip my server before OR after paying. An outburst towards your customer(s) is never okay, even close to closing. To management, please give any of your SINGULAR waitress(es) on shift a raise, they deserve it. And to Camilla, if you are working for tips and living off of them, please advocate for yourself to management or leave for better pay elsewhere. read more

Another LA iconic establishment that is a must try if you're a local or in town for a visit. I've only been here twice to catch some live shows and support a friends band on stage. This last time I got a chance to try the surprisingly great food The Mint has to offer! I had a go at their taquitos dorados (chicken taquitos). They did not disappoint. It's off the appetizer menu and for me it was meal in itself. Comes with a plop of guacamole, cream and a spicy dipping sauce. Well done Mint kitchen! If you're here to catch a band performance, it's a great view from pretty much anywhere. There are also booths for your more intimate gatherings and slightly higher vantage point. Finally it's a full service bar that can knock out what ever you desire so get creative. Parking can be tricky so arrive with some time to search for a spot on the street. Great for music but some of the waitresses and bartenders are the worst. Super archaic system in place where they open multiple tabs under the same card during the night and there's zero communication between the bartender and the waitresses who will encourage you to open another tab with them but don't tell you that's what their doing. Even when you give them the same card and tell them there's already a tab open. They don't listen and do whatever they want. By the end of the night we had two tabs and were just trying to close out. We knew items were missing so we asked for all the tabs with our name and credit card. The bartender decides to start talking to us like we are stupid instead of just giving us the two tabs UNDER THE SAME CREDIT CARD AND SAME NAME. Explaining someone long drawn out reason why bar tabs and tables are different (note they didn't sell out the tables and we met the minimum requirement with one tab alone). It was pointless and the bartender just needed to feel like she was smarter than someone who's been there before and watched them pull this shady type of before. Disrespectful and ended up making her and the waitress have a smaller tip because she decided instead of just giving us both the tabs at once they tried to be shady and only give us one. It was the end of the night. There was no one else multiple tabs open. I Only come here to see specific bands but won't be suggesting anyone come here if the female bartender with long brown hair and really bad eyebrows is behind the bar. Just avoid her at all costs. Mint management and security should do better and stop being shady with your system. Maybe don't yell at your patrons and then expect them to just sit back and allow it. read more

Came here for a show. The Mint was showcasing about four musical groups that evening. We got there for the start of the first act, and so there was plenty of street parking close by. To the left of the stage was a photo area that a lot of customers took advantage of. Cover charge plus a $20 minimum per person for the evening. They serve food and desserts so you don't have to drink $20 worth unless you want to. The club was well ventilated and that night, they had a dance floor available. Bands use their drum kit and sound system, so the show moves pretty quickly. I'd come here again. Check it out. read more

I like The Mint. As a booker of touring acts, I appreciate the opportunity they give to musicians. So it pains me to write this about the service I received at the hands of "Kaitlyn" on Saturday November 15. I and my lady bought VIP booth seats to see Amina Buddafly. I start with a bottle of Chardonnay, which on the menu is listed at $46. When Kaitlyn brings the check - I bought it separate from the meal - the bottle price was $52. I'll come back to that. While waiting for the show to start, we order dinner. First my lady, then I order a Cobb salad, the Philly cheese steak sandwich and fries. Kaitlyn clearly hears me because I ask if the fries have seasoning and she tells me they're garlic and parm. A short time later, a server brings my lady's plate out. Great. Food looks good. 10 minutes go by. Then 20, 30, and after 40 minutes , and my lady's already finished her meal, and Kaitlyn darting past our booth several times showing no interest in the "VIPs", I finally stop her and ask where's my order. Her answer was stunning. In an almost joking or dismissive manner she says "I forgot". YOU FORGOT? Obviously this is upsetting, so I demand an explanation. Her non-chalant, uncaring, "so what" attitude is what angered me the most. So I get up and find the manager, Eloy, at the bar. I explain to him I've been waiting 40 minutes for the dinner and Kaitlyn tells me she forgot. He saved the night by taking care of the order himself and quickly getting it to our table. But, a discount should have been offered, if not a comped meal! Back to the wine. Before the dinner debacle, I asked Kaitlyn to explain the wine price discrepancy. She said whatever is on the ticket is the price, even though the menu, the QR code and online says the wine is $46, not $52. So, I say to her, maybe you can straighten it out with the bar and get the price to what it says on the menus - $46. She walked away and never said anything after that. I believe it was that interaction that led to her "forgetting" my meal. I'm not in her brain nor heart, but I can't help to feel her behavior was intentional. Let me suggest a bit more training for this young lady, as customers shouldn't have to experience this, especially at a place they revere. If my assessment is wrong, I'm happy to hear back, but until then let this serve as a warning - if Kaitlyn is your server at The Mint, make sure she stays on her job she's apparently not qualified to do. read more

It's been years since I've gone to a club to see a band. There was a time when I was out almost every night of the week. However, I mainly stuck to the Hollywood area and never ventured to the Mint. My girlfriend met Freemor on a plane and she invited me to join her to catch his live performance. She bought tickets online, but you can also purchase them at the door. The club has a cozy, intimate vibe. If you want to sit at a table there's a $20 minimum per person. It's nicely laid out so you pretty much have a good view whether you are sitting or standing. Jessica was our server, and she was fantastic. She was the only one working the room and she managed it like a pro. I ordered a Peach Margarita (El Jimador, Crème de Peche, Fresh Lime, muddled jalapeño.) My friend a Paloma and her sister a dirty martini. All drinks are $15. The Margarita was refreshing, delicious, and nicely balanced. It had a little bit of sweetness from the Peach liquor with a little bit of spiciness on the back end from the jalapeño. My friend & I shared the Calamari Tempura $13 and her sister the Thai Shrimp Salad ($18). The salad was impressive, and the shrimp were huge! She loved it! The Calamari was very tasty and came with an herb aioli & chipotle aioli both of which were also good. Boys In Shorts had the honor of kicking off the festivities. They are a DIY alt rock band. Their set consisted of lively, upbeat tunes that had the crowd dancing. They even played a great cover of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," which everyone sang along to. These guys were great! Follow them @boysinshortsband. Freemor is an indie artist whose unique sound is a fusion of alt, funk, soul, & psychedelia. He's backed by a team of seasoned musician including a female drummer. Collectively they delivered an energetic set of catchy tunes that got your blood flowin' and fists pumpin.' Follow him at @freemorl Both bands were entertaining and made me miss my club days. I'd come back to The Mint for another live performance. This place is the doyen of performance venues in LA, and I really appreciate how they have some dry events friendly to high schoolers. It's a wonderful place to encourage young talent, with its friendly vibe. It's nice that they have a variety of bar food and drinks, for other events. read more

Great bar food! Surprisingly, Reasonable priced & large portioned fresh & tasty bar food! I had a great Cobb Salad with chicken. It was large & the ingredients were fresh. I ended up fat & happy while accompanying it with to 2 cold pints of Allagash. The night was young so it wasn't too dark that I couldn't read the menu. The Scott Rocco band was on & they were clean! For a packed house and having very loud music on stage the service was good at getting you your order. The chicken wings seemed slightly undercooked and made me nervous in the dark but I didn't get sick so it was just paranoia from a past experience. Beer was cold and refilled when emptied without a long wait but we had reserved a table. The bands that night were good, Electric Spaghetti featuring former Anthrax lead singer John Bush was very different. For a $10 cover and a good sounding small venue you can't really go wrong. read more

I went to the Mint last Sunday to hear Will Brham and his band. The performance was excellent. I was there for an hour and was unable to order a beverage as well as a meal. The waitress didn't seem interested in serving me. I was unable to get her attention. It would have been nice to have a meal and a beverage. When I go to other venues such as the Baked Potato, they always make sure that everybody orders their two-drink minimum. She did me a favor and saved me some money. read more

Her demeanor is so friendly and engaging, she makes you feel right at home. It's kind of a drive for us but we keep coming back because she's fun and makes us feel so welcome. I've lived in LA all my life but had never been to the Mint. Until last night. All I can say is wow. Incredible service. Incredible Venue. I was missing out & had no clue. I purchased a pair of last minute tickets to see local artist, Will Gittens, & requested a table for two. As expected, they were booked. No worries. But then I get an email letting me know that if anything opens up, I'll be the first to know. Hours later, front row seats for two that felt like VIP seating. From valet to entertainment to service, we had an amazing time! Will was incredible & The Mint felt intimate & inviting. The vibe was smooth, soulful & sultry. We loved every minute of it. First of all, folks - look at my other reviews. They are overwhelmingly positive. I am not a complainer by nature, but... The Mint has an identity crisis. It's not a lounge, nor is it a listening room. In trying to be both, it's not great for people who want to listen to music, and not great for people who want to be social, though the folks there to socialize are the less disappointed party. In a previous review I gave it two stars because the music and staff were ok but the talkative audience killed it. The owner took the time to reply to my review so I did go back and give it a few more tries - two jazz nights and a feature show. They were worse than the visit that prompted my last review. I'm not going to waste my time with the full version, but here are the points that to me are terminal: The venue accepts that nobody is going to be happy. It's fine that the music is too loud for you to talk to your friends, and it's fine that the talkers are going to ruin the music. That's all you need to know. If you want more: Curtis, the manager, isn't terribly interested in the music. He's one of the guys talking over the band. We had a chat with him as we were leaving a jazz night where a table of guys arrived drunk and were rambunctious. It wasn't worth trying to filter them out even after I politely asked them to keep it down. I was told it's inappropriate to ask people to be quiet when you're there to listen. Right...well if you created a room where I didn't have to do that... On a busy night with a bigger name act, the owner Todd is right - a higher percentage of the people pay attention and don't talk, however, the 10-15 people at the bar who don't care to be courteous to the rest of the listeners will ruin the room for everyone. It's not a big room. If you're talking over the stage and PA to the point it's distracting, everyone in the room hears you competing with the band. It's actually possible for 10 people to ruin a gig for 75+. That sucks. I live four blocks away and I've been in the neighborhood for over 10 years. I spend the vast majority of my discretionary income on concerts. Nobody in LA is more interested in seeing this place rock than me, but I've spent my last dollar at The Mint. All three nights I have been there recently, there were musicians who told their friends they would not be willing to come back. It will continue to be a problem, even after this vocal critic has decided to stop spending money here. Save yourself the aggravation and go to Baked Potato, or one of the many other rooms where people actually want to enjoy great playing. read more

The Mint!! Great night with decent food and drinks. We came on a random Thursday night to see our boy play bass in a pop band. Small crowd but it's the MINT-- classic staple in LA. The cherry on top with having Alannah as our waiter! She's been there for a minute and is so attentive to all the guests, and was at our table constantly to refill drink and food orders. First time here. Came to see Six Gun Sal. They were great. Sound in the venue is good. Love the lay out and space, including the dance floor. To sit at a table or booth, it's $20 minimum per person for food and drinks. Wasn't thrilled with that. I paid a cover to get in, not really wanting to have to pay another $20 to sit down. Street parking available. Back parking area is very small. If you're loading or unloading gear, you need to park on the street and come down the alley. There is a super cool, detached room next to parking area where band can hang out, tune guitars, eat etc. Really liked that. read more
