We went to Lucky's SoHo around 6pm on Christmas Eve it was quiet at first but it filled up quickly and had a really lively atmosphere by the end of the night. The staff started us off with water and kept refilling it throughout the meal, which is always appreciated when they do not forget to do so. We also loved the complimentary bread that they happily kept bringing out. For appetizers, we ordered the Caesar salad and fried calamari. Both came out quickly and were absolutely delicious. The Caesar was super fresh with a light dressing not heavy at all and just the right amount of Parmesan. The calamari had an amazing crispy batter and came with cocktail sauce and a spicy mayo that balanced everything perfectly. For our mains, we shared the filet mignon and the half chicken. We added skinny onion rings and mashed potatoes since the entrées don't come with sides. The filet was tender and flavorful, and they even offered to slice it for us, which was a nice touch. The chicken was good, though a bit average but the shallot sauce from the steak really elevated it. The onion rings were a standout super crispy, not greasy, and a HUGE portion. The mashed potatoes were fluffy, cheesy, and comforting. For dessert, we couldn't resist the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream. It was incredible. Warm, melty, sugary goodness paired perfectly with the ice cream. The dark, cozy ambiance made the evening feel intimate and special, and the service was friendly and attentive. so I would say this is a pretty good steakhouse. I had this steak with The Roquefort cheese. even though I ordered, medium rare, it was a little overcooked, and the taste profile wasn't great. Terrible service and it wasn't busy at all We got sat and forgot about for 50 mins they sat 2 other tables and when we asked if we could place our order they came to the table and said "wait I'll be right back" then proceeded to take the orders of 3 other tables before ours finally ordered waited another 30 mins and then had to practically beg them to give us the check so we could leave 2 hours just to eat breakfast and it wasn't busy read more

The ambiance is pleasant, the service is consistently good, and I've tried a variety of dishes from the menu over the years -- most of which have been very enjoyable. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. Ordering the calamari and Branzino turned out to be a mistake. The Branzino was especially underwhelming: dry, lacking flavor, and seemingly overcooked. The calamari was decent but also a bit over-fried. I'd still recommend the restaurant overall, but I would stick to some of their standout staples like the filet mignon, lamb lollipops, and mushrooms . read more

I don't understand the few bad reviews this place got. It's super cute, charming, and the food / drinks were top notch as was the service. It's a small space, feels like this is how they wanted to dip their toes into the NYC restaurant scene, as they are well established out in LA. Definitely will return. N.B. Had a great girls dinner here. Nice, elegant ambiance, attentive server, and enjoyed the food. The complementary bread was great, very soft and with the creamy Vermont butter it was delicious. Not a big fan of the Ceasar Salad (I love Ceasars and have had a million of these so I'm quite the critic when it comes to those). The sauce had an interesting after taste, and the croutons weren't as crisp as I like them. The calamaris were great. Lightly batted but very fresh and flavorful. The filet Mignon was cooked perfectly and we paired it with the bearnaise sauce which was nice and thick. The highlight of the evening was the Mac & Cheese. It was SO creamy and cheesy, definitely go for it when you come here. Then the second favorite of the evening was our dessert, the Sundae. read more

Well, well, well... Lucky's, the iconic steakhouse from Montecito, Santa Barbara--home of Oprah, Prince Harry, and that princess-turned-duchess. It's a personal favorite, and when I found out they opened one in Soho, New York, I had to take my friends there. I got there early to enjoy their famous martini--one sip doesn't quite knock you off your chair, but trust me, after the full glass and the refill (yes, the martini comes with a little sidecar!), it'll do the trick. The New York version is a bit smaller than California's, but hey, taxes, right? My friends arrived, and we grabbed a cozy corner booth. The vibe was great--loud with a mix of birthdays and couples out on dates. I'm pretty sure one girl had the martini, too, because she could barely get out of her chair, but her date was a gentleman and helped her out. This place is perfect for date nights, groups, or whatever you're celebrating. One downside--they didn't have escargot, my personal favorite. Boo. But no worries--I'll be back, Lucky's. This place was not good. The service was so unattentive that it was frustrating, and the food was just okay. I always order my steaks medium well, and when it's done nicely it shouldn't be tough, but this petit filet was very tough. My partner's matzo ball soup was also not great. Amazing! Maybe the best steak I've had in NYC. Loved everything. I actually ordered the Peppered Steak but they gave me the red wine and shallots Gene's Steak. The funny thing is that it was so good I was distracted by the taste and didn't realize until I got the check, and then I thought about it and was like, oh yeah! It was cooked perfectly medium rare. Exquisite sauce and shallots. I'm glad this mixup happened because I actually think I liked this one more than I would have the peppered one. The potato skins were also a surprise! They're more like big fries - very unique and incredible. Crab cocktail and pecan sundae also good. I'll definitely go back. Small typo on the menu they spell Peekytoe as Peakytoe. read more

Went for first time last night and sat at the bar. Was looking for something festive and cool with good food. It did not meet these expectations in any of these categories. I expected a lot more from an established restaurant from California. Never been to the California locations but I'm imagining they're kinda like Craig's in LA which is a solid restaurant. It's a tiny establishment with low energy and ambience. Food was mediocre. Bartender who served us looked miserable and had a negative attitude. She seemed bothered to be there, which affected our experience. The bartenders are important to make a restaurant boom. Sadly, the one we got on a Friday night was horrid. The New York strip was ok but I did not like the burnt exterior and it was mediocre overall. The potato skins were horrible. They were refried way too many times, overcooked and burnt. So happy they opened a Lucky's in NYC! This is my favorite restaurant in Montecito CA and they did an AMAZING job of recreating the awesome vibe and the incredible food here in New York. We are visiting NYC and excited about dinner per the other reviews. We took an expensive taxi ride to get there. We were very disappointed. We ordered the wedge salad to start and was served the Cesar instead. The waiter apologized for the error and brought us the wedge. Drinks arrived late and a request for iced tea was met with a frown saying, " I can make some". Fish and short ribs were good--not excellent. Overall, staff was very nice but would not return due to so many options in the city. read more
