We ate breakfast here yesterday. They have outside seating following Covid guidelines. Our food was ok. Nice sized portions. My husband liked the pancakes. I had an ice tea that tasted bad, like old... sitting around too long. They were out of hash browns? So we asked for our potatoes to be well done. They weren't. Service was ok. I am jubilant after coming to this restaurant!Amazing customer service aswell!! The bartender Heather who took our order was an outstanding young woman.. make sure to ask for her on monday nights! She is really friendly with the customers and made sure we were happy with our order and service. I am always so happy seeing her every monday night. The food was really good and was perfectly cooked... shoutout to the cooks lol! The ambiance was also great. Not once was I left unattended when I needed something. The environment was great and I loved the decor inside. But Heather really stood out to me and I was so glad she took my orders..can't wait to see her more here as I come. She is a very bubbly woman and is kind to all. I loved all the different views on the THREE flat screen TVs. The boss Ivan was also really kind and made sure everything was smooth and that our food came out fast..he served our food and im so greatful he did. We've eaten here many times over the years while visiting the area... I'm surprised I haven't already reviewed Lucy's? The food is very good and the menu is extensive; their prices comparable. Great selection of desserts!!! They've done some redecorating over the years and the atmosphere is nice. Our only complaint is that our waiter, the name on the receipt says Humphrey, and who we've had in the past, kinda has a bad attitude... a little snippy like we were putting him out. We've had several take out orders completely wrong (straight off the menu w/out special instructions), but the food is very tasty so we kept trying them. So we tried to eat in at their restaurant & had horrible service. By the end my guy who is a pretty forgiving, couldn't stomach eating his burger. I was SCOLDED twice by what appears to be a head waitress and/or perhaps the owner; 1) When I pointed out that I asked for salad dressing to be on the side her retort was a curt "well I didn't take your order". 2) We waited 5 mins after our burger/fries arrived & when I couldn't get anyones attention for catchup, I walked up & grabbed a bottle off their cart & was scolded again by the same woman about not being COVID compliant. Then telling me I might as well take it & go back to my table. Not only did her harsh words make me feel like a child, it was as if I committed a crime. Hey, we're all trying to navigate through this COVID stuff together. This persons inflammatory reaction had me realize she was dealing with a heavy amount of stress & I held compassion for her. Then as we were leaving, we heard a sweet male waiter share their specials for the day. We were never told of any specials by our young waitress & I would have wanted one mentioned. We are doing a week searching the cailornia delta for some hidden gems to do lunch today we went to lucys Cafe in downtown Rio Vista . This is a diamond in the rough its a Italian restaurant waitress Carey was on spot food came out hot and not wait for food .we had the deep fried asparagus,which was great crunchy dipping has hooked well, the breshcette was a meal in it self and a great one my favorite at today's lunch crustinies topped with mozzarella caramelized onions and garlic with fried basil and parm cheese . Was really good, then we tried the ultimate dip (French dip) it was really good too the auju was perfect, not salty! We have been enjoying our experiences at Lucy's Cafe for many years. I'm a huge fan of steamed clams, especially paired with linguine. Ordered it for lunch today and added extra clams. Thought we would try this little resturant heard about it from a friend, well that was a mistake, we started out with a cocktail at the bar, I ordered a lemon drop the bartender poured a packet of artificial sweetner in the glass instead of rubbing a lemon slice then dipping in sugar then proceeds to mix with pink lemonade! instead of lemon juice worst lemon drop ever...We then proceed to the dining room where the bartender followed us and proceeded to take our dinner order and wasn't very friendly. I ordered the clams linguini when i saw the dish I should have sent it back the clams were smaller than a dime! probably about 12 clams almost non existent clams. My husband ordered the Pork chop dinner, the pork chop was good size and he said it was very good. The prices were a little high for what you get. I am sure we won't be back. read more

We visited between the lunch and dinner hour. Our meals were enjoyed but we got the impression that they were 4 star meals. They seemed to lack. My garlic mashed needed a little more butter and garlic. The veggies were perfect and the Salmon was delicious. My spouse enjoyed the coconut prawns. Her baked potato came without any of the normal baked potato fixings. The service was Rushed ! All through the meal, our waiter, who did his job very well, appeared that he didn't have time for us. He made all the right moves, but move he did. Come to find out he was also the bar tender 'next door'. To him, I would recommend, taking a breath prior to arriving at the table and changing his pace, making the customer feel like they are wanted/important. Not knowing he was also bartending we felt like we were imposing on his time. Left to his waiter duties, or, I suspect, his bar tending duties , I'm sure he does an excellent job. This edit is due to my memory of the bathroom condition. After finishing our meal I used the bathroom. It is a shared bathroom with Lucy's bar. Had I visited it prior to ordering, I would have left without ordering. To think that the kitchen staff step foot in the space is revolting. Clean is free of crud and sanitized. Also, Inspected periodically and restocked. It appeared to be cleaned by an untrained person. read more

Alright I am writing this review due to the fact I have just moved to rio vista and one of the things I was worried about moving here was the lack of restaurants with good reviews, so anyone who is, or was, in the same boat as me this review is for you as well as those who come to visit the town. The service: Okay so first of all it was 7pm on a Monday, and I have a party of 6 which we were sat immediately. Once sat the server (forgot to catch his name) came and immediately told us all the specials they have going. He was very kind and a good waiter. The restaurant: The restaurant itself is relatively small, I think once the town grows a bit it might be a struggle to get a table as the maximum occupancy of the building is like 70 people. However, the building is clean and nice and has a bunch of nice decor that makes it feel very "Italian" I'd rate the inside 4.5/5 only because of the table placement was a bit weird but you can't really do much else in the building. Outside has parking directly out front as well as a large parking Lot. The food: So 6 people, all different meals, all with good reviews and it came out pretty quick. I had the steak special, there was 2 California clubs, a meatball sandwich, fettuccine Alfredo, and spaghetti and meatballs. Clubs: 5/5 very good sandwiches and pretty big, they also had garlic fries that while I prefer more garlic the fries were very good Steak: 4/5 while the steak was good in flavor it was a little tough. I asked for medium and it came more well done. As for sides the special came with 3 shrimp, baked potato, and asparagus. The shrimp was slightly burnt but the overall flavor was great 4.8/5, the potato is just a potato kinda hard to mess that up haha 5/5, then we get the asparagus, unfortunately it was so bland and undercooked. Didn't bother me cause I'm not a fan of asparagus myself anyway but even with salt and pepper I couldn't bring any flavor. I think it was just boiled, would be much better if it was cooked on the grill with the steak. Pastas: both the Alfredo and spaghetti were 5/5 reviews from the people eating them. The chicken in the Alfredo was very good and the sauce was nice, the meatballs in the spaghetti were marinated and seasoned very well. The meatball sandwich: 5/5 very good sandwich. Bread was soft but toasted, meatballs and sauce were very flavorful. Overall I would rate this restaurant 4.9/5. I think the sides could be better but besides that the rest was great. Tip is included in the check so you don't have to guess which was good for us since our waiter was good. The food is typically good however, the last time I tried was so bad I wont go back. I went with my husband, his grandparents and our son. I ordered a western burger. I even asked the waitress to note "light barbecue" sauce. For reference, the western burger is good but too much BBQ sauce is too tangy for me. Anyways, I was brought out a mushroom burger. I pointed it out to the waitress. She offered to take it back but the rest of my group was already eating so I didn't want to delay us so I happily kept the mushroom burger. The fries looked dark. I ate one and it was burnt. The fries had a burnt taste. I pointed that out to the waitress when she came back around and she offered to have new fries made. I sent back my fries and my sons fries. They were both burnt. The waitress came with new fries and they were translucent. I tried one and it was not cooked thoroughly. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to seem complicated. My husband ate a couple. I asked him how they tasted and he said frozen. He's not a picky person so I know the fries were under-cooked. My son took one bite of his chicken strip which is sometimes normal for him. I took a piece of his chicken before we left and it was disgusting. His chicken strip tasted like it was soaked in old oil. I felt bad for serving that to my little one. I'm still irritated that we paid for this meal. Someone needs to take some pride in this business and the food they are serving. It's simply unacceptable to put out burnt or under cooked food. read more

Just stopped in with my husband while we are on a motorcycle ride. It's Sunday afternoon and no one else besides an elderly couple are dining there. It's quiet, and no employees around. After standing there for five minutes, we were finally greeted and told to seat ourselves. Our server handed us menus and said she was going to find out what the specials are and would be right back. EVERY PERSON I have come in contact at this restaurant has been friendly, professional, courteous and helpful....... The other day, while my wife and I were dining, an elderly couple sitting across from us were causing a "fuss". Seems they didn't get their 2nd basket of bread and some sour cream FAST ENOUGH. This couple (the old lady) could NOT have been more rude....... complaining to the waitress......the waitress just stood there and took this abuse while trying to explain the reason for the delay. Maybe the old couple were regulars......I don't know. Maybe the ol lady was just REAL hungry for bread. But for that server, the people who prepare the food, the food itself....... It's been a while but perfect for taking out a a date you want to impress. the exterior is unassuming small even quant the word cafe makes it a real sleeper. Your date will perk up upon entering as the smells dazzle making her look to the plates of the other guest who will undoubtedly have smiles the food has always been excellent! Great place to eat but watch out for the manager with the man bun as he doesn't want to be here. Had a problem with our order and asked to have the upcharge removed from our bil ( $2 maybe 3 bucks) l as it wasn't what we ordered. He told us we were paying for it anyways. On July 24th I visit Lucy's as my last meal. I ordered Veal Saltimboca. I have ordered this many times before in other named restaurants . Usually served a nice portion. I dont know what they served . It was pounded veal (terrible) the suace was unrecognizable . The beer Hazy IPA was the only good about that dinner meal. DON'T ORDER THE SALTIMBOCA. We've been here a number of times now and its been great evetyyime. My wife is pretty picky and the last time she ordered the bone in double cut porkchop and she said it was the best shed ever had. And I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and it wasn't the best I'd had, but it was a hearty serving and really tasty. We shared a tiramisu dessert and it was amazing. Service was excellent and it was a awesome experience overall. Their menu has a great variety of Italian, with a bunch of different pastas and sauces, good choices of grilled meats and seafood, and even burgers which are really good. The salads are as good and are served really cold and crisp which is a nice touch. Plus we love the whole small town cozy friendly type place over the nationwide chain restaurants any day. So ifvyour looking for a place for consistantly good food and service, I'm sure you'll like Lucy's. We sure do. read more
