It's COLD inside and not the good cool cold on a hot day. It's as cold inside as out. Every single customer still has their coats on to eat. Don't order the fish and chips. Fish tasted like it was done in an air fryer. The patty melt was nothing to write home about. I've had the spaghetti and it's really good. Happy to find Lucy's cafe. The waitress did a great job considering she was alone. Food was great and I recommend any Italian dish. The veal Parmesan was superb and the home made bread was nice. This place also serves breakfast! My bf, friend and I came into Rio Vista because it was close to Brannan Island. The park wasn't ready for us to start camping, so we decided to find a place that serves breakfast. At first I was confused that Lucy's was open but it stated it only served Lunch and Dinner. We walked in and they served breakfast! SCORE! There are two entrances to this place, one to get to the bar and the other to the dining area. The dining area is a bit on the old fashioned side and cozy (picture Olive Garden, but smaller). My BF and I ordered: Steak Omelette ~$9: This was ok, wish is had some sort of vegetables sauteed in with the steak and mushrooms. A large group of us went for breakfast on Saturday. Amazing service by Nicole. We each had our own ticket (10 tickets) and she kept us all straight. Food was great. I had the pancakes, eggs and ham. Everything tasted great. Several folks had bloody Mary's which looked great too. My husband had the veggie omelet and he loved it. A few people had special requests and those were no problem for Nicole and the kitchen. read more

What I liked about Lucy's was the number of spaghetti choices! If an Italian place can make a great red sauce and good spaghetti, then they move up high on my list. If they also have good sausage then you move in and stay awhile. This place has both. This is a nice family run (feels that way anyway) eatery with down home comfortable servers and a very inviting decor. There is a working mans bar adjoining the restaurant. The price to portion ratio is right on and the bar drinks are priced so having a second or third won't feel like you overspent your allowance. If you come to Rio Vista more often than Humphrey the Whale, then Lucy's is the place to get some good red sauce, pasta and a couple of beers! read more

Loved this restaurant. Did patio dining. Staff was super friendly & efficient. The food WAS TO DIE FOR! it was absolutely hands down the best Italian I've ever eaten. Eggplant Parmesan was cooked perfectly & the sauce was incredible- seasoned just right. My husband said it was "the best veal parmigiana" he's ever had. This is a nice friendly local cafe - we came for dinner - the menu is big and sure to please anyone - we ordered two pasta dishes and two sandwiches - everything was good - though my pasta could Have used just a bit more sauce- desserts, however were not as great as ppl had raved ;) I was really looking forward to the bread pudding -my most favorite dessert, and it was too hot, too little cream/sauce and the texture was just off. The tres leches cake was Ok - though not the real tres leches you expect - moist oozing super sweet cake - white Cake with caramel like filling - tho enjoyable. Came down here from Sac for a little day drive/explore and had lunch at Lucy's. Lots on the menu, super nice staff. We had the Philly cheesesteak and house-recipe meatball sub. Everything was delicious! Husband raved about the meatball sub again hours later when finishing the leftovers. read more

Their pastas never disappoint. I always have to get their spaghetti carbonara every time I'm here. THE.BEST.EVER! For some reason, it's no longer on their menu, but they've been able to make it for me still. So good! Also love their gnocchi with cream or pesto sauce. Lasagna is also delish! Waitress messed up our order so we were given a free slice of tuxedo cake which was also phenomenal. My only gripe would be that their kids menu doesn't include a drink and scoop of ice cream or fruits like most other restaurants. But luckily my kids didn't ask for it this time around. :) read more

Normally I would rate this restaurant 4-5 stars but last night was soooo disappointing We live about 120 miles from here and come up a couple of times a year. First it took a while before our waiter came over and took our drink orders. Not a bid deal and he was very nice. When our Chianti arrived it was warm and spoiled. We had to flag a server down to exchange it. They were very gracious and said they would open a new bottle. The second glass was much better. Here's the killer! Our salad arrived with their delicious home made Italian dressing. My first bite rendered a very long hair! Again we had to flag someone down and show them the long strand! There aren't a ton of choices of restaurants in Rio Vista but there are a few delicious ones. Lucy's is one of them. I've been here a couple times for lunch and enjoyed the sandwiches that I've tried. Tonight we had their spicy chicken pasta dish and chicken parmesan. Both were prepared wonderfully. The chicken parmesan was nice and crispy on juicy. The spicy chicken had just the right amount of heat and was very flavorful. I will be back again. read more

Lucy's consistently has good food. They have great pasta, burgers, and great bread. Any place that has great bread is always a winner for me. My favorite entrees here are the Lasagna and spaghetti bolognese. My husband likes the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and the ribs, which are usually a special and not on the regular menu. read more

Stopped in for breakfast having had lunch here once. Warm and comfortable, Italian decor. Waitress was fairly attentive and pleasant Husband ordered a Denver omelet, I ordered a scramble, and my son ordered eggs, potatoes, and bacon. There is a great option for a traditional breakfast where you pick one item from four boxes for 6.99. Good deal and a nice variety of choices. Not too many people in the restaurant (maybe four other than us), food took longer than I would expect to get out. About 15 minutes to get our food. Toast isn't buttered (butter comes on plate for you to do yourself, which my son loved since he doesn't like butter on his toast). My scramble was delicious. My husband didn't like that the Denver came with red peppers in it...he and my son were of the opinion it was a mediocre breakfast. I would give this place 4 stars based on my experience, but I am giving it 2 since the two other parties didn't like the food. read more

I have traveled highway 12 most of my life and had never *ever* thought of slowing down in Rio Vista more than I need to to avoid getting a speeding ticket. That all changed yesterday! My sister had car trouble here yesterday, so my wife and I put on our superhero costumes and drove to her rescue! It turned out that her timing belt broke. For you Yelpers that don't know much about cars, a broken timing belt is never good- and it's always expensive! To help calm my sisters frazzled nerves, we asked the nice lady at the repair shop where a good place to have lunch could be found in her fair town. The first place she mentioned was Lucy's Cafe. Lucy's is a good place to have lunch and is probably a good place to calm down YOUR sister, too! It's not all that impressive when you see it from the outside, but go inside anyway. We had excellent service from the friendly servers, even though they were busy. Their lunch menu was kind of small, but it had several tempting possibilities to choose from. All three of us tried different entrees and found everything lived up to what the lady at the repair shop had told us about the place. read more

This is a nice little place in Rio Vista that serves homemade food that is pretty great. Not gourmet, but home-style cooking with fresh ingredients. They have terrific specials and that's how we ordered the baby back ribs, DELICIOUS. The salads could be improved with just a bit more thought towards making them healthy and tasty. Also would like to find that they included a low fat dressing among their choices. Overall the prices are fair and you definitely get enough food. Wine is very reasonable by the glass as well. Waitresses are all friendly and competent. Would be nice to make it a little more romantic at night, the lighting is a bit industrial. We go at least once a month and never had anything that was bad. My husband likes their chicken parm sandwiches and he is Italian. read more

We recently stayed at the RV park and took a short hike to Lucy's. The young gal that served us was nice but looked a little over whelmed. She was very attentive but was being pulled in a 100 directions. Our food was very good and the portions were enormous. The garlic bread was worth the price of admission alone! First...the meatballs. YUM! I am usually not a huge fan of meatballs, but theirs are fantastic!! Moist and full of flavor. And huge! They are available in sandwich format, on top of spaghetti (but not ol' smokey) and on the side. Second...the alfredo sauce....YUMMMM! Seriously, most restaurants disappoint in the alfredo sauce department. Not Lucy's. Creamy and thick, with really great flavor. I love to get the tortellini (both meat and cheese mixed) with the alfredo sauce. I have tried the meat sauce (they will let you do half and half) and I also really enjoyed it--however, the alfredo sauce has my heart. Third, and more importantly, the garlic bread. Holy crap. DEEEEELICIOUS!! Not only do they make it out of the fresh homemade bread they bake every day, but it was out of this world. By far the best garlic bread I have ever tried. Buttery, garlicy (with real garlic chunks too, unlike what some restaurants use), parmesany and perfectly baked to the right amount of crunchiness. Fourth, the clam chowder...um, more please!! I'm not sure if it's homemade or canned, but it was still good. Nice and creamy, with big chunks of potato like I like. Not as clammy as I'd like, but the flavor was still good. And it didn't burn the holy hell out of my mouth like most restaurants that serve their soup at 4000 degrees. (Hello, most people go to a restaurant starving, maybe try not to serve soup at lava hot temperatures!) Fifth, the garlic bread. Oh, I mentioned that? Well, it's that good I felt it deserved a second mention. Cuz it's freaking delicious. The serivice is decent...it's a bit too slow, but who cares, they make awesome garlic bread!! I'm a big fan of Italian food and this place didn't disappoint me. Felt like exploring the lil town of Rio Vista. Always drive right through it on Highway 12. I checked on Yelp to see what places were around Rio Vista. And this was one of them. Glad I went. They have two entrances. One for the Bar and one for the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to check out the bar. We were seated quickly. We got there at a good time because soon after the place was packed. Its a bit small, but the service was great. Tried some Fried Asparagus and for the first time I had some sort of Chicken Enchilada soup.. Never heard of it. But it was good. The prices were reasonable and the amount of food you get, should fill you up. I ordered some sort of Chicken milano with all kinds of veggies and spices.. It was amazing. My friend was craving some ravioli because they had all kinds of different raviolis to choose from. We had dinner at Lucy's on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving. One of the specials was a turkey dinner and we ordered it. I'm so happy we did! We enjoyed a dinner salad and bread & butter before the meal arrived. There was enough of everything (turkey and gravy, whole cranberry sauce, pecan stuffing, mashed potatoes and fresh veggies) that each of us brought home half our meals. For dessert, we shared a piece of pumpkin pie. We really enjoyed the leftovers this evening. The ladies serving on Wednesday were very busy with a full house, and they kept smiling through it all. The Food here was likely 3 stars but the service was definitely 1 star. I stopped in with my mom on a leisurely drive around the delta since it had high Yelp ratings. I had the Meatloaf soup which was tasty and certainly novel but nothing special in the taste dept. I also had the Gnocchi with Alfredo sauce. The gnocchi was tender if a little gummy and the sauce was a little thinner than I like but likely scratch made and very garlicky which was a selling point for me but might be a turn off for many. Overall the food was good, but in no way special. My mother had their mexican turkey club which was a melt... sort of. The bread was lightly toasted the cheese and avocado were hot but the meat was stone cold (like refrigerated cold) in the middle. Cold is okay on a cold sandwich but not on something hot. Also the whole thing needed salt and for being "mexican" lacked any sort of spice. Even the pepper jack was bland and didn't flavor the sandwich. What you tasted most was the roasted red bell pepper from a jar which didn't taste bad but was not what should be the star, nor was it very mexican. The real problem was the service. It was slooow (I was one of only two seated tables) and while normally this would lead to hovering in this case it led to abandonment. I got one drink refill during our near 45 minute stay and when he left the check we waited for 10 minutes and then went to the adjoining bar where the waitress spent five minutes looking for the server before not finding him and running our tab int he restaurant herself. Worst service I've had in a long time, not even an apology either, from anyone. I'd never go back nor would I recommend it to anyone who enjoys sit down service or really service of any kind.
