This was my 2nd stop at Lucy's about 1.5 years after my first stop on the way from Indianapolis to Traverse City. This place is easy to access from the interstate and very much worth the effort! The atmosphere is charming, clean, mixed modern/industrial/mid-century. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is exceptionally executed. My mom and I came here for breakfast while on a trip to Grand Rapids and we loved it. I had the special pie, which was a quiche with bacon, butternut squash, cheddar, rosemary, and corn. Delicious! Mom had the veggie hash which she loved. Our server was very sweet and attentive. Only downside is it's FREEZING in here, which also affects the coffee temperature. Not sure why they are running the AC in October. Other than that, everything was fantastic. read more

I went to Lucy's for the first time this past Friday, and loved it! Lucy's is located in the Creston area, which is the cutest little hub in not-so-downtown Grand Rapids. The whole area has a certain chill vibe to it, and Lucy's definitely fits that! We were seated right away, and our server remained attentive throughout the whole meal! I loved Lucy's coffee options, and that they had a bar area for people just dropping in for a cup, or maybe looking to get some work done while enjoying some delicious coffee. My mom and I both ordered a mocha. I was pleasantly surprised by how not-so-sweet is was. For food, my mom ordered the short stack of french toast. It was pretty basic french toast, but wasn't overly eggy, which was good! I had the breakfast sandwich, and am still regretting not being able to finish it all The cheesy eggy goodness blew me away. Til next time, breakfast sandwich. Overall, I was kind of shocked by how "basic" a lot of their food is, like pancakes, french toast, etc, but I appreciate that they mastered those basics instead of focusing on flashy dishes. My spouse and I were back in Grand Rapids over the winter holidays to visit friends. We stopped by Lucy's for brunch. I've been here a few times since they opened and somehow, it appears that I've never written a review! Lucy's is one of my all-time favorite brunch places. The food is always perfectly prepared. The menu is interesting and has all of the favorites. On this visit, we took advantage of the waitlist feature, which meant we were seated within five minutes of our arrival. I appreciate it when busy spots offer a virtual queue. We dined with another couple, so a group of four. Everyone ordered something different and seemed to enjoy their meal. Our server, Lisa, deserves a special shout-out. One of our dining companions asked for a recommendation on which skillet to order. Lisa shared her personal favorite, complete with customization. Wow, how have I never been to this restaurant before?! There were so many incredible options, it was hard to choose what to order! I settled on the strawberries & cream latte (GIANT and yummy) and the breakfast pot pie with vegan sausage. It was so good, I had such a hard time stopping myself from eating it all (it's a large dish, I would have definitely been sick if I had the whole thing). The bacon roll was a fun and unique twist on a classic, and my family loved their orders of the chilaquiles and root veggie hash. This was our first time visiting Lucy's in Grand Rapids and we can't wait to go back and try more things! We joined the waitlist via Yelp and were seated right away upon arrival. When you walk in it is so bright and cheerful. The bakery looks phenomenal and we couldn't wait to grab things from there on our way out. Our server greeted us right away and grabbed our drink order and appetizer order. We were there for brunch and had to try the deviled eggs. I also had the Sweet Lucy espresso drink but subbed oat milk and no whipped cream. The deviled eggs were so tasty! They had a subtle spiciness to them. Also they had pickled onions on them that added a nice acidity and crunch to the eggs. I had the Creston scramble and it was SO good. The corned beef was perfect! We have yet to have any food that we didn't love at Lucy's, and service is always great. Parking can be a challenge some days, but that's only because everyone else loves them too. I love Lucy's! The ambiance in here is so nice. There are so many big windows and there is outside seating when it's nice out. A lot of exposed brick and stuff like that makes it a comfortable place to be. It was nice being able to park close because they have plenty of parking around them whether it's in their lot or on the street. The service was quick and friendly! I joined the waitlist on Yelp, and was able to be seated as soon as I walked in the building which was great. The food was phenomenal! Definitely the best part of the experience. Lucy's is one of my favorite brunch spots in GR but it's usually pretty difficult to get a spot unless you come super early. Then walks in Yelp Waitlist! I was checking on Yelp to find us a brunch spot and noticed that Lucy's recently (or maybe not so recently but news to me) added the option to join the waitlist via the Yelp app. I was STOKED. It gave an estimate of 20-30 minutes for a table of 2 and when we knew we were about 30 minutes out, I threw my name down and proceeded to get ready. It has the feature of notifying you when you want to go a little later and when the best estimated time to join the "line" would be. It's one of my favorite features and will definitely let me get to enjoy Lucy's more often! Once we got there, the app told me to check in with the host so she knew we were there, but there was just an iPad for us to "check in". Luckily, when I clicked, I was pleasantly surprised to see my name was #2 on the list! While not 100% accurate on timing of being sat, we only waited another 10 minutes actually in the restaurant to be seated. The last time I was at Lucy's, I feel like the space was not nearly as big and open and they've really stepped up the seating and bar space. The menu is fairly concise and easy to follow. Our server was timely and helpful even though the restaurant was clearly extremely busy and it was about 30 minutes to closing (2pm on Sundays). We ordered the huevos rancheros and the spicy hash - both delicious! A little heavy on the pickled red onions but both fantastic and some of my favorites on the menu. We also ordered an almond croissant that we had to remind someone that we ordered, but happy we received it pretty quickly after that! The almond croissant was probably my least favorite item we ordered that day. It was a lot more dense and not nearly as fluffy flakey as I want my croissants to be. Great flavor but not a light and flakey as a traditional croissant. Maybe just how they decided to add the almond paste into the dough? Either way though, with Yelp waitlist, Lucy's will definitely be back in my regular rotation of brunch spots so I can "wait in line" with the comfort of my own schedule instead of in their lobby area. read more

Alice M was our server today and she was INCREDIBLE! We have a 19m old daughter that came with us and she was great with her. Between me accidentally spilling my water literally everywhere, and my daughter getting her finger stuck in her cup lid - Alice was very kind and accommodating. Our drinks were always filled, and she always kept us updated on our food as it was pretty busy but we were expecting that for a Sunday afternoon anyways! I had the Spicy Hash and thought it was great, although the waffle it was served on was slightly sweet, which subtracted from the flavor profile for my preferences. The servings were MASSIVE. Our server was accommodating and knowledgeable, although it was hard to hear her at times due to the restaurant being quite full and noisy. We also thought the bar looked beautifully arranged and decorated. Unfortunately, two of the three of us found hairs in our dish. We did not notify the staff since I discovered mine after nearly finishing my dish. We also had to wait a long time for a seat, but this was due to use arriving at peak brunch hours on a Sunday. Lucy's is a gem! We had an amazing breakfast here while in town. Our server was just the sweetest and the food was excellent. We got there around 9am and we had about a 10 minute wait, it got really busy by 9:30am so be prepared to wait. Parking is a bit tricky as the lot was full and street parking was scarce. So bring patience because it's worth it. For breakfast I had the Creston scrambler, the corn beef hash was soooo good! I am gluten free and when I saw the GF baked goods I couldn't resist! Our server said I could sub out the toast that came with the meal for a GF donut for a small charge, heck yea!!
