I recently ordered a custom party cake (funfetti) with traditional buttercream from Ludger's, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the beautiful presentation to the delicious flavor and outstanding customer service, the entire experience was wonderful. After submitting an online quote request, I was contacted quickly with detailed information, and the ordering process was seamless when I called to finalize. The cake was thoughtfully and beautifully crafted with realistic bark texture along with detailed greenery; it was the perfect forest-style centerpiece for my son's Gravity Falls party. When guests saw the cake and learned it was from Ludger's, several of them raved about how amazing their cakes are. This was the first birthday party we've had where nearly the entire cake was eaten! Thank you Ludger's!

food - i went to the bakery near the end of business day yesterday to order to-go food, with german chocolate cake and some kind of streudel being the sweets of choice on my mind, with my main reason being that i'd read that the bakery has a strong german-american influence. nonetheless, at the time of ordering, the store had run out of german chocolate cake, so i decided to go with a chocolate bavarian cream cupcake instead, paired with an apple streudel available from the display case. while i'm less familiar with bavarian culinary traditions than german-american, the cupcake was quite tasty, and the favorite of my mom out of the two desserts, which we both tried. i'd say the apple streudel was my preference, with the pastry reminding me of a slightly more compact apple cobbler. that said, i did like the cupcake had tiny edible ball decor and bavarian cream filling in addition to frosted topping. service - the counter worker who served me, cel, was attentive and knowledgeable in helping me navigate the menu options, including the availability of german chocolate cake, the cake flavor of the month, and different available varieties of streudel. ambiance - although i ordered to-go, the restaurant seating atmosphere looked cozy, reminiscent in a sense of my favorite coffee shops, which is fitting because the bakery also serves several kinds of coffee and similar beverages. further, i like that the restaurant features a gift section, with birthday candles being my favorite of the items offered in that section because of the appropriateness to such a product at a store that sells cakes.

The pastries and coffee are top of the line and on par with each other in regard to quality. It is rare for a pastry shop to do both well. Ludger's does it. Wow, German technology is amazing: "The egg in a basket." This was a delicious sandwich to the last bite. Designed for exceptional taste and assembled with diligence. Buttery toast, bacon, cheese and a flawless soft runny egg yolk, precisely centered in a dye cut hole. It is difficult to decide which part of this sandwich was the stand out, but that buttery toast was a remarkable feature. And a bonus; as a souvenir, they give you the medallion that was cut from the toast. Rich and decadent, was the Tiramisu Cupcake. My wife's choice, described as the best that she has ever had. She raved about it and the Iced White Mocha, all morning. My Café Mocha was equally superb. Nice bright restaurant, Order at the counter. Food and drinks that are made to order will be delivered to your table. Very impressive coffee and pastries. Now one of my top picks in Tulsa.

Ludgers is always a good choice. Whether I want a sweet bite, coffee, savory morning croissant, or a salad, this is a solid spot! I love love the cake here. My favorite is the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake-it's absolutely delicious. While I am not a pork eater so can't comment well on most places' breakfast, I can say that the feta and spinach croissant is perfect. It's not a normal croissant shape, and I don't care. I want it every day and would eat one everyday if I could justify it. If you like fun coffees, always order from the seasonal drinks list. They always are great. The interior is super cute and a lovely spot for a small friends or a mommy-daughter date. The only thing lacking are the cookies. Usually more on the dry side than what I like, but that's why you come for the cheesecake

I live in Las Vegas, my family lives in Tulsa so when my mom's birthday rolled around, I was looking for a food gift that wasn't going to cost me a fortune in shipping costs. Has anyone seen the astronomical prices of food on Goldbelly and other dessert delivery services? It's crazy what places are charging! I wanted something special, something unique, and found Bavarian cream cheesecakes while doing a Google search. I was able to place an online order for date, pick up time, cake and frosting flavors, a sauce and personalization without incurring any additional fees, and without having to call anyone. It was so easy. I placed the order under my husband's name and my brother went to pick it up. No issues. Super easy with email confirmation. For less than $35 I was able to get a 6" round chocolate Bavarian cream cake with raspberry sauce that was personalized. My family told me it was super rich and very good.

The iced chai latte was excellent. But I tried to order food at 4:30PM. Sign says "full menu available all day." Lady tells me the kitchen closes at 4:00. But that's not what the sign says. Seems confusing. Chai latte was great though.

I was in search of a bakery for my husband's birthday and found Ludgers Bavarian Cakery! It was our first visit and the sweet treat options are endless - whole cakes, cake slices, cake pops, wedding cakes, decadent cupcakes, cookies, & pastries! They also have a variety of delicious coffee(s) along with a breakfast & lunch menu! You can dine in, sit on the front patio, drive thru, or take out! There's also a cute gift shop inside. The associate was nice and helpful in our decision. Instead of buying a whole cake, we decided to try a slice of the Carrot Cake & Red Velvet Bavarian Cream cake! Oh my goodness, it tasted so rich and delicious!!! On our next visit, we will definitely buy the whole cake!

I am working my way through the entire menu and today I ordered the T-Town Tuna Melt, the Stawberry Lemon Swirl Cheesecake slice and potato salad. I added german mustard, german mayo and bacon to the tuna melt. I have never eaten somewhere that makes every item, that I have tasted so far, absolutely perfect. It's all incredible. So much flavor and cooked/baked perfectly. I'm excited to try more.

Just picked up 24 cupcakes, mixture of 12 vanilla, 6 chocolate, and 6 red velvet with butter cream top. Nothing special but it costs 54$. And 12 of them are vanilla!! And the taste wasn't any different than Walmart' s cupcakes !! read more

Ordered a special birthday cake for my boyfriend and it turned out amazing. They worked with my budget and made it affordable for me. I ordered a white cake with buttercream icing and it was so good! They were alittle upset that I didn't let them know ahead of time that I was driving it to Kansas for the birthday party, but it made it in a cooler with out a problem. We also tried a slice of the Bavarian creme cake with chocolate chips which I was told was their speciality and that turned out really good as well. I would highly recommend this cakery! read more

Ludger's is absolutely amazing! I've yet to taste anything I didn't like. They have a healthy range of breakfast and lunch options (but healthy doesn't mean tasteless at Ludger's!). And you can shop their adorable gift section while waiting for an amazing latte! I bring family, friends and clients to Ludger's. They never disappoint! read more

Their desserts are consistently beautiful and well crafted. Pretty popular. I like them, but it's not really worth the calories or carbs for me. My wife is non-keto and she does not like this place at all. So it seems that people either love it or hate it. read more

Hateful Very Rude people that work there. The lady was annoyed that I was asking for cupcakes. Then I asked her what types of quiche. She says it's quiche!!! I said I know it's quiche but can you please tell me what kind. Then she stated slamming the box down and sack to let me know she was pissed off because she wanted to leave work by 4. It was 3:30 and I was trying to pick out candies, and a card. I definitely felt uncomfortable and unwarranted there. will never go back! The cake wasn't good either. I actually gave a whole cake away and got better one at All Things Cake. So many better places to choose from! read more

3 1/2 Stars: Tried this place because it has a DRIVE THRU! Good food but has the potential to be better. Turkey sandwich bread was dried out. I ordered a 9 grain bread and received white bread. Their turkey meat tasted like it was freshly carved. I think they could improve on their cheese freshness. Id like to see freshly curved cheese. I hope they offer more sandwich topping options in the future, such as, sliced avocado, hummus spread, etc. Their side pickle paired with the turkey sandwich was great. Their mocha coffee is above average. I recommend getting it lightly sweetened. I'd like to see them offer a healthy side option to go with a soup or half sandwich. Maybe try adding a quinoa or kale side salad. Overall, if they make a few adjustments I can see this place getting my repeated business. I'll check back in awhile and see how they've faired. read more

I needed a place to hold a breakfast meeting and thought about Ludger's new location. At their old location I had a coffee while waiting for a cake and it was very good, so I figured I'd grab some coffee and check out their new digs. I actually didn't realize they had so many food options! They serve breakfast and lunch in addition to all the cakes/desserts that they sell. I got a veggie quiche and it was fantastic! They warmed it up for me to have with my iced café latte. They also had some infused water by the checkout, which I thought was a nice touch. The new interior is completely redone... you would never know this was a Braum's. As always, the service was friendly and prompt and I'm very excited to make another trip there to check out their lunch menu. And it goes without saying, but I truly think their cakes are the best in Tulsa. So unique with the cream cheese filling and flavored sauces... definitely check out their cakes if you've never had one and while you wait, sample something from their menu! read more

Ludger's was an absolute joy to work with. Our wedding cake was... a little less than traditional, but they didn't skip a beat. We showed them an inspiration photo and they ran with it and delivered exactly what we envisioned. They were helpful, responsive, and clearly take pride in what they do. It doesn't hurt that it also happened to be the best wedding cake I've ever had. They also provided amazing cookies for our cookie bar! 10/10 do recommend. Perfect from start to finish. read more

Don't order bacon and eggs at lunchtime I guess--even though breakfast is offered at that time. I specifically ordered SOFT-scrambled eggs. As an added caution, I requested that the order for soft eggs be verbalized to the cook. Lo and behold, I received very dry and crumbled eggs and dried out bacon that was very hard and brittle. When served, I explained my eggs were cooked incorrectly and I got a blank stare in response. Someone came out and said they would re-make the eggs. I refused because I didn't want to wait any longer. The toast was excellently prepared. I couldn't eat the bacon. A staff person brought out a $5 coupon for next visit. I had already decided that I won't come back so I gave the coupon to a customer at the counter who was buying a cookie for her daughter. Boo. Inexperienced or uninformed staff--too many people working at 1:45 pm on a weekday. I don't know anything about the bakery items. read more

Great customer service, great food! Stopped in to inquire about baklava none to be had. However, the sandwich my husband had was excellent!! He called it the best BLT he's ever eaten! I had the tuna salad and it was way above par!! Better than what I make!! I highly recommend this place!! Quality and excellence in service also in the food!! Of course I've been here previously... but today was an extra nice visit. Worthy of a few moments to share my experience. It's Thursday, it's chilly and its rainy here Tulsa. So I did what all normal humans do... I pulled in for a hot cup of coffee. One glance at the pastry case and this little gem spoke to my SOUL. Kelly heated my little treasure up and took my monies. Talk about a drool-worthy place! I popped in Ludger's today before a meeting to grab a couple to-go coffees and hated that I couldn't stay and enjoy my coffee and a sweet treat in the plush red huge couches underneath a beautiful and modern chandelier. There are several coffee options here - from macchiatos to lattes to every flavor of syrup you could ever think of. I had a cinnamon latte and it hit my caffeine spot well. The espresso wasn't that strong but the overall flavor has a smooth finish. Breathtaking photos and displays of cakes are everywhere. Between Ludger's top notch cleanliness, professional display and friendly staff I will visit them first when I am in the market for a special occasion cake. read more

Ludgers never disappoints! The staff is always friendly and never have to wait very long. Everything I've ever tried has been delicious. If you let them warm up the pastries it's just heavenly. My favorites are the chicken salad salad, the coconut iced coffee, and the apple turnover, but you really can't go wrong no matter what you order. read more

Ludger's Bavarian Cakery is local family owned bakery and coffeehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We specialize in bringing quality confections and beverages to the community in which we live in and are proud to call home.

History

Established in 1980.

The cakery in its current form is an evolution that began from a single dessert creation by Ludger Schulz in 1980. Ludger created the Bavarian Cream Cheesecake that is reminiscent of a dessert from his childhood in Germany. The Bavarian Cream Cheesecake was used as a dessert option at his restaurant and private caterings. Eventually the popularity of the cake led to requests for birthday and wedding cakes. Over the years, the popularity of the cake outgrew the ability to share a kitchen space with the catering side of the business and a bakery was added to accommodate the demand and volume of cakes. The flavor selection also grew to include vanilla, chocolate, chocolate chip, strawberry, key lime and red velvet...as well as sugar free and gluten free versions of the original vanilla flavor.

Meet the Business Owner: Allison D.

In 2010, Chris and Allison Dickens purchased the bakery from the founders (and Allison's parents) Ludger and Alecia Schulz. As second generation owners, the Dickens are dedicated to preserving the reputation for quality and excellence that the Ludger's name has established in Tulsa and surrounding areas.

From the wide variety of healthy lunch eating options to the tempting cakes, cookies, pastries etc this place is the real deal. I think one of the best things about Ludgers is the the friendly wait staff that greet you at the counter and politely deal with you from start to finish. Tasty lunch menu style light entree's are the rule here and all are exquisite. I went through the drive thru yesterday and had amazing service, a true rarity these days. I tried the turkey pesto sandwich and it was phenomenal. They used great quality shaved turkey! Ludgers baked the wedding cake for our daughter this past weekend. The cake was amazing...so much so that this is my first review on Yelp. After tastings from several other bakeries, our daughter and fiance chose a vanilla and chocolate 4 layer cake with creme frosting and a raspberry sauce.
