$20 CHICKEN without FRIES? I came across LudoBird during my recent visit to Crypto Arena and figured it was going to be a pricey, but reasonably good meal. Unfortunately, it was way too overpriced and underwhelming. The chicken was decent, but it was a little dry and gave me weak night market vibes. The meal was $20+ and it didn't even come with fries! Everything is sold separately I guess, even the drinks! Thankfully, i requested some honey mustard, but we had to pay for that TOO. Service was fine, we came during a night with a lot of Japanese tourists and the staff were very patient. The line moved fast and our order was out in no time at all, therefore I'll give this place a few stars. Came here with a couple friends at the Kings hockey game inside Crypto.com Arena. Had to come check Ludo Bird out. I ordered a chicken sandwich and their home made chips. Meal was a bit on the expensive side. But the chicken sandwich tasted so good. The female person that helped me at the front counter was very nice. Crypto Arena offers a fantastic variety of food options, and in my opinion, LudoBird is one of the better. I recently tried the Spicy, Ludobird Chicken Sandwich, and it did not disappoint--it was delicious! The word's out, so be prepared for a line, but trust me, it's worth the wait for that tasty payoff. Be sure to try out the different sauces--they really make the meal pop. I'm a fan of the original spicy chicken sandwich, while my wife loves the massive chicken strips. You can't go wrong with either, and their fries are top-notch, too! Be prepared for sticker shock, although you should not be surprised in a sporting arena. I was excited to try this spot since it's Chef Ludo's take on fast food fried chicken and I'm a fan. The line gave me hope but the chicken was disappointing, served cold and flavorless. I ordered a salad bowl from the Kebab stand and I got dry over cooked, grisly chicken on top of onions and shredded cabbage (more onions) with a nasty sauce on top. I was surprised to see a chicken sandwich place at the Crypto and even more so after the first bite. The chicken sandwich is pretty good as far as flavor. It was a bit hard to bite but we managed to finish it all. Also the house made chips were delicious. The cashier recommended it and we didn't regret trying it. Complete ripoff!! The chicken doesn't even taste that great, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS, and they don't even come with a side (chips or whatever) since those are extra as well. Inside Staples Center, I wanted something besides nachos or hotdogs. I read about Ludo's, so naturally I had to check it out. What is it about fried chicken sandwiches lately? They're everywhere! I ordered the dark meat version of their fried chicken sandwich. It had coleslaw in the middle, not a lot, but it added to the texture of this sandwich. It was spiced just right and this is a good sandwich overall. Would I get this again? At $13.50 with no sides is kinda steep, but this was decent. I would try the white meat next time or maybe the strips only and skip the bun. If you don't want the typical pizza, burgers, nachos or pretzels at a game, then try Ludo's. read more

While I was checking the board menu I was surprised they didn't offer a sandwich. The menu is very limited to the chicken strips and chips. Considering the options at the staples center, Ludo bird is your best bet to something different. The popcorn chicken and chicken strips are not my favorite, the batter was bland and hard to bite... but their chicken sandwich and that slaw within... is taste worthy. Except the pickles, it was too salty... and I love pickles. I withdrew the pickles from the sandwich and voilá, yummy. The honey lavender biscuit is very dense on the outside yet the inside is soft, but very dry. It will leave you very thirsty after every bite because it sucks the water out of you. Literally. It's topped with salt which I think is unnecessary, and too much. The honey is awesome, I love honey, it was slathered in honey. I used the honey as dipping sauce for the biscuit which helped it go down more smoothly. I would eat here again and just aim for the sandwich and a drink. read more

We ordered food here while watching the clippers game (yesterday 12/28/19). I do appreciate that although the line looked long, it moved relatively fast. You pick up the food at the right side and they also served them in a good amount of time too. I ordered the spicy popcorn chicken. Unfortunately, it has no taste to it. I thought they maybe gave me regular but my friend also got the spicy popcorn and said hers wasn't spicy either. The batter was not that great or flavorful. It wasn't the worst I've had but I mean I would not order this again. Luckily I had honey mustard sauce to dip it in which helped. It was good with that. My boyfriend and his friend ordered the chicken sandwich and also were not satisfied with it. For one, it wasn't even a whole piece of chicken but like pieces of it. So his friend took a bite and a whole piece of chicken fell to the ground. That's weird!! No offense but for the price of these sandwiches. They can taste better and be made better. I was grossed out and moved onto the next tender. After biting into that second tender, I immediately noticed a HORRIBLE taste and SICKENING consistency. I looked down at my chicken to see that it was totally pink and undercooked and was also full of some kind of cancerous cyst filled with puss. I immediately spit that piece out after chewing it for a few seconds. This was the most disgusting and traumatic experience I've ever had with food in my life. I felt so sick after just a couple bites. I still feel awful. I don't even know what it was that was in that chicken but it was so gross I can't even believe it. After walking around the Staples Center before a Lakers game looking at the food options, we decided to try LudoBird. Having heard about Ludo Lefebvre's chicken on his LudoTruck, I was anticipating great chicken. For arena food, it was good. The popcorn chicken bites were not fatty, nicely fried and crispy but they could've used more seasoning. The herbs were a nice touch but basic salt and pepper was non-existent. On the other hand, the homemade chips seemed to get all of the seasoning that the chicken lacked as they were so salty some chips were difficult to eat. They should go a little lighter on the Old Bay seasoning. As expected for arena food, the prices were very inflated. The honey lavender biscuit was $5 (vs. $1.50 on the truck) and the popcorn chicken bites were $11.50 and the chips were $3.50 (vs. $2.50 fries on the truck). One dipping sauce was complimentary and each additional one was $2. Two dollars!!! All in all, LudoBird has decent, kinda pricey food at the Staples Center. Don't bother with the chips but consider getting the biscuit which was dripping with honey and so delicious! read more

Only a foodie like me could go to her first basketball game, first staples center event, first NBA game, and first PLAYOFFS game... And be as stoked about the food options inside the venue as much as the game. I was so excited when I saw that Ludo Lefebvre's fried chicken operation, LudoBird was inside! I heard about Ludo's now shuttered food truck from Anthony Bourdain's show and was already a fan of Ludo's sassy chef personality from watching him skewer San Diego's culinary wunderkid Brian Malarkey a few years ago on TV's The Taste. I got the signature buttermilk chicken, in strip form, for $11.50, a great price considering it was 3 big pieces of fresh, real all white meat and inside staples center where you would expect crazy markup. I love that it wasn't salty at all, but didn't like how the breading falls right off. It came with one sauce. I wanted to try the signature spicy bird sauce but asked how hot it was... So the staff member let me have a ranch for free just in case i didn't like it. Normally they charge $2 per extra sauce. Great service! I will go back to try their $5 sweet and salty ice cream sandwiches and probably their sandwich which is priced the same as the strips. Prepare to wait because the lineups are insane. We decided to sneak a couple of minutes before half time during a Lakers game to avoid the crazy lines. Ordered the chicken strips original, the popcorn chicken spicy, coleslaw, and fresh chips combo, plus a coke. $40 total. The good... Meat was quite tender for both, and was still warm when we got it. Quantity of the "popcorn chicken" (huge chunks of meat) was great and you really get your money's worth. It couldn't be a lot better... - Seasonings is super lacking and the spicy popcorn chicken has NO heat at all. A pinch of salt goes a long way. - They also don't carry all the sauces on their menu, no béarnaise for me unfortunately. But the honey mustard was pretty solid. - SUPER pricey! While I understand that prices are going to be insane at the Staples Center. I still feel it's way too overpriced with what we got. So glad the this opened up at Staples as a dining option. It is located on the lower level and I highly suggest you try it once. We try to go to games often and the same standard options have been less and less appealing over the years. It was an understatement to say I was stoked to see that Chef Ludo had opened up shop this season. My first time there I had to get "the original" buttermilk provencal fried chicken. I got the dark meat. $11-$12.50? It didnt disappoint. It was full of flavor. Perfectly battered with a smattering of herbs for seasoning. I opted for the ludo special sauce which reminded me of thousand island dressing kicked up a notch so I was happy. We also had the honey bbq wings. Crack! That was super good. That flavor was great. No dipping sauce needed... It was served piping hot. We actually had to wait for it to cool down before indulging. My last trip to Staples recently I wanted to order something different at LudoBird. I opted for a dark meat fried chicken sammich. The famous ones I always heard about from the truck but never got to sample. It was $12.50 and is served in a paper foil pouch. It's a hearty serving of the famous herb encrusted battered fried chicken. It 's encompassed in potato bread. The bread was nice & soft but my observation was it's too thin because it quickly fell apart as I was trying to eat it at my seat. The chicken is served with the ludo special sauce and pickles. It was tasty but just got a little too messy.. Good thing for the pouch cause it caught everything and after a while I was just picking at it. I also got the house made chips.. They were nothing special. Slightly salted potato chips. Smallish portion served in a paper tray. I probably would pass on it in the future... I didn't know there was a LudoBird inside Staples! Hungry at the Clippers game, I spied LudoBird and convinced my companion to go eat here (basically I said "we're eating here" lol). We shared a white meat fried chicken sandwich and a side of coleslaw. The chicken sandwich was very good! Chicken was was crispy and were more like chicken tenders versus a whole breast/patty, which was great and juicy and the greens in the sandwich were nicely dressed. The coleslaw was awesome! I've never had fresh jalapenos in coleslaw before and I loved it!! So fresh and crisp! Prices were a bit high, since we're inside Staples, but the food quality is much better than most of the options available. Yum! read more

LudoBird is fun, I guess... came here cause it was on Eater's Staple Center List and it has a lot of great names attached to it (Petit Trois, is what I mean) but gah it's typical sports stadium overpriced food. I think the quality is definitely better than the other options, got the provencal chicken tenders for $12 and it was 3 strips + sauce of your choice (I got honey mustard) and they were good, but definitely got cold really quick and I keep comparing to Howlin' Rays but lol like definitely not up there on my list of good fried chicken. Overall, I would pick the Nuggets over the sandwich any day. The sandwich didnt taste much different from something you'd find at a generic cafeteria. The worst thing was that the trays were really shallow and the little food plates didn't fit snugly into the tray compartments so I ended up spilling the food all over the floor the minute my hand tilted just the slightest.. :( ~$20 per combo warrants a lot more. Best food I've had inside staples Center! Salted ice cream sandwich. This was a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on a grilled savory buttery bun dusted with powdered sugar. Ludobird injects a bit of variety into the food scene at Staples Center, bringing Ludo's take on fried chicken. After seeing Ludobird featured on Mind of a Chef, I was excited to give it a try. I went with the strips and got white chicken (white chicken comes in three pieces and dark comes in two). The pieces are fairly small (about 2-3 bites each), but fairly tasty. The chicken is moist and tender while the batter is decent tho not as crispy as I had hoped. The batter is also heavily seasoned with s&p and thyme, which takes over much of the flavor profile of each bite. Overall, decent but based on the portion (which seems even smaller based on how it's presented and packaged), you may feel a little underwhelmed even after acknowledging the Staples Center premium. 1st of all - it's not easy to spot a good (and cheap) concession stand inside the Staple Center. With that being said, LudoBird is actually not a bad option. I will admit that food is a bit expensive here. I spent $20 for approximately $10 worth of food. Not only that, my cashier took a really long time to complete my order. However, I was just happy that their food actually tasted pretty decent. Buttermilk Provencal "The Original" Chicken (with Ludo Bird Special Sauce, $11.5) - Not as juicy as I thought, but it was crispy and a bit flavorful. For some reason, that Ludo Bird Special Sauce tasted a bit like ... ketchup (sweet and sour). Ludo Slaw ($3.5) - Ludo slaw? Basically it's another name for "crunchy jalapenos salad". Not too bad. Honey Lavender Biscuit ($5.0) - Can't really tasted the lavender flavor, but I like the idea! For food, it's a solid 3.5-star. This concession stand probably sells the most unique food out of all other stands. I might actually try the actual food truck (LudoTruck) for a better experience. read more

It's a hit or miss here. When it is good, it's quite delicious: the chicken is cooked perfectly and the batter crisp with really great seasoning. When it's less than great, which is a somewhat regular occurrence, the batter is soggy and the portion size is akin to a meal for mice. My biggest annoyance though is that these 3 meager pieces of chicken for $12 are the best food at Staples Center - which is full of predictably lackluster and expensive options. I ordered Combo B, a white meat fried chicken sandwich with chips on the side. First things first, the bun was terrible. It tasted a day old and like it'd been in and out of the freezer. It was dry and it easily tore apart. Moving on to the chicken itself, it was barely warm, it wasn't crispy, and it the only real flavor was from the pickles and sauce. I wouldn't pay $10 for this if I had to eat it again, and yet I unfortunately shelled out over $20 for it the first time. Granted, of course I expect all food prices at the Staples Center to be inflated. But I'd have been far happier with even a typical Wendy's chicken sandwich and have gladly saved a few bucks for that. read more

They have chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, fried chicken and chicken bites. Their chicken bites are much better tasting than the Golden Arches. They don't have fries but they do have chips or a BISCUIT. OMG a biscuit slathered in honey. So delicious and sticky you must eat it with a fork! Visit LudoBird and your bad day will get better I promise! There are other places I like to eat at Staples too, but for the price you pay here you get a lot for your $$. I'm not saying it tasted bad... it was pretty good. But not really worth the price or the super long line in my opinion. We got the chicken sandwich with dark meat (on so many lists I've seen this as the best single food item in Staples Center). It was tasty, but I'm not saying that it's really much better than Chick-fil-A. Let me qualify that by saying Chick-fil-A is actually pretty darn good, so it's hard to beat it soundly in a chicken sandwich. It's also a little hard to eat. Instead of a single fried chicken patty, it's really two chicken strips inside of a bun. You have to have an unusually firm grip in order to keep both of them in the bun while you're eating, making a mess in your hand that is really unnecessary. And the biscuit... the KFC biscuit with honey is actually much better. It was pretty dry and hard. Maybe I got a bad one, but I can only talk about what I ate. Next time I'm probably going for the carne asada tacos across the aisle. But since so many other people like this place, probably something to try at least once. read more

I ended up ordering the spicy dark chicken sandwich (12.75) and a Vitamin water (6.00). Their spicy chicken strips as well as their special sauce are very good; however, being that it is located in the Staples Center makes it hard to enjoy for many reasons (it is hard to go often and it is a rip off. I paid about $17 for a bottle of water and 3 spicy strips). If it located outside of the Staples Center, I would most likely go more often and pay less in addition it would have a better rating.
