Wow. Okay the pictures on instagram do not do this place justice. I rarely say that places look better than their official page and marketing...but yeah. This place does. Like people said it was romantic and I was like sure, I guess in the pictures it kind of does. In person though??? Wow. Absolutely wow. I was in awe. I wish I could sit there every day. The lights and ambiance are truly insane. I have never experienced anything like it. Let me backtrack too and say that I paid $14 for valet which tbh is not too bad considering I didn't have to worry about my car or anything so it was worth it. Okay the food. We got Parker rolls and the Mezze plate for the table. Wow, the Parker rolls were as you would expect. Buttery goodness. French butter as you know...top tier. Okay the Mezze plate? Every single sauce was so good. The little cous cous thing in the Mezze plate was so cute and yummy. Then the main dishes. Seven vegetable couscous was great. As a Moroccan, I can say it was a great vegetarian version of the dish. Has the staple veggies you look for in a cous cous. My friend got the vegan cauliflower steak and that was so beautiful and tasted delicious. It was a great dish for my vegan friend. Our waiter was so nice and really personable as well. From start to finish, he was there for us when we needed him and we really enjoyed our dining experience because of him. I forgot his name but he's a star. We celebrated a romantic dinner at Little Door for my fiancé's birthday and I would say the experience was OK. She chose this place for the Instagram worthy atmosphere you see online, but I would say it falls a little short of how picturesque it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice garden setup up, but we were expecting a more romantic and whimsical layout. We also noticed that the dress code is very loosely enforced as there were numerous people there with T shirts on. We got there for our reservation about 15 minutes early and was seated quite fast. The hostesses at the front were quite friendly and the wait staff were attentive and mostly nice. One of our servers seemed a little curt at one point, but it wasn't too bad. Once you are seated they ask about your drink order, and offered wines, sparkling water, and literally said "tap water". Pretty surprised that they said tap water, but we went with a glass of wine and sparkling water. The menu is short and it's easy to make your decision. We went with the 24oz Prime Ribeye Steak, Pappardelle pasta, Kingfish Crudo, and the Portuguese Piri Piri Shrimp. The ribeye was served with scalloped potatoes and green beans that were delicious. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare, tender, and served in a very balanced sauce. The Piri Piri Shrimp was also great. Large pieces in a slightly spicy cream sauce; I would describe it as almost a Cajun flavor. These were my favorites of the dishes we ordered on this night. The Kingfish Crudo was a nice choice. I believe it was yellowtail served with small pieces of cherry tomatoes and peach chunks. The sauce was nice and refreshing with a little sweetness. The Pappardelle Pasta was ok, and probably my least favorite dish of the night. It wasn't bad, but wasn't on par with the rest of our meal. The thick pasta noodles were al dente, and the sauce was nice and creamy with pieces of green beans. It got better once we mixed the poached egg into the sauce, but still didn't get it to the point where we would order it again. Since it was my fiancé's birthday, she wanted to get one of their desserts served as a small birthday. She saw pictures of their passion fruit coconut cheesecake on Instagram and wanted that, but they changed it where the passion fruit was at the bottom of the cake. I thought it was decent, but not a great dessert. I thought the staff would at least sing happy birthday like other restaurants, but that didn't happen here. Overall, The Little Door is a small romantic stop to have a date night. I don't know if I would consider it a place to celebrate a special occasion though. Vibe was romantic and sexy, I felt like we were in Europe. We came here for late night desert and lattes on a Saturday night. We were seated right away, and service was excellent. Our waiter brought us desert menus, waters, and then recommended some deserts and coffees. Early Grey Creme Brule was fantastic. It had unique decadent flavors. I called and made a reservation a week or so ahead for dinner on 7/5 at 6:30 (my birthday). I didn't find out until later, but my dad also called separately to let them know that we were coming to celebrate my bday (I think he wanted the workers to surprise me lol). Anyway-- on the day of my bday, 7/5, the staff had no idea who we were lol and there was no reservation under my name. Idk I took a star off for that because I thought that was weird and unorganized tbh. Luckily there was no wait! The food was pretty good. Some of it was just okay. Came here for me and my husband's anniversary and enjoyed our time. Their drinks are delish, try the cucumber martini! French onion is def a try if you love soup and if you like seafood, get the mussels. Curry flavor is so good and such a good size, they actually do not skimp on the mussels so it's so worth. As for the entrees, my husband got the ribeye steak and it was tasty and cooked perfectly. The scalloped potatoes that it came with was cheesy and delish! I opted for the cod and it was good as well, I recommend this entree if you want a lighter one since you munched on the appetizers already hehe. The Little Door LA was a pretty nice experience overall, mostly because of the service and atmosphere. The food was honestly just mid and didn't feel that special, especially for the price. Most dishes were in the $40+ to around $80 range, so I expected a little more from the taste. However, the staff were really attentive and friendly, and the space was beautifully decorated with a cozy, romantic vibe. Even the restroom was surprisingly pretty. My boyfriend suprised me and took me to The Little Door for our late Valentines dinner and I loved it so so much :') The ambiance of this restaurant was AMAZING. It reminds me of the lantern scene in Tangled. It's literally the tangled ride at Tokyo Disneyland if you've ever been hehe. It can be pretty difficult to get parking at this restaurant... we searched around and got lucky with parking right at the front (not valet but street parking). Our server was amazing -- he had amazing customer service and he was very attentive. We ordered quite a few dishes: - Rack of Lamb - French Onion Soup - Grilled Octopus - Potato Puree - Fresh Pappardelle Pasta My favorites were the grilled octopus and the fresh pappardelle pasta. My boyfriend's favorite was the rack of lamb and the grilled octopus as well. If I had to recommend any dishes here, it would be the grilled octopus. For drinks I ordered a dirty martini extra dirty, and my boyfriend ordered the 4 pepper smoke cocktail. Overall I give this restaurant a 8.5/10. We had an amazing time here. Came here for my birthday and overall had a really good experience. The decor was beautiful and the ambiance was great -- definitely a spot for date night or a special occasion. For appetizers, we ordered the octopus and escargot. The octopus was easily the highlight of the night. The flavor, sauce, and texture were all amazing, and the roasted herb potatoes paired perfectly with the salsa verde and chimichurri. I would highly recommend this dish. The escargot was also very flavorful, especially if you enjoy garlic. The bread it comes with is a great touch since you can dip it into the sauce or pour the garlic butter over it. For entrées, we ordered the Atlantic salmon and the rack of lamb. The salmon tasted very fresh, but unfortunately lacked flavor. The rack of lamb -- which is considered their signature dish -- was tender, juicy, and worth trying at least once, but honestly the appetizers stood out more than the entrées for me. We also got two cocktails: the Pomegranate Margarita and the Casanova. Both were good and definitely on the sweeter side, so I'd recommend them if you enjoy sweeter drinks. This is one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. The ambience is gorgeous, but the food is phenomenal. We started off by sharing the grilled octopus and a baguette with Rodolphe Le Meunier "beurre de baratte". The bread and butter - which may sound like nothing special - was so delicious it brought literal tears to my eyes. If that if I'd had only that I would have been happy. But I'm happier because we had WAY more than that. My girlfriend had the chicken. It was delicious - it came with veg and potato, with a lovely herb sauce. Sorry there's no picture. I had the couscous royale, which is lamb chop (perfectly seared) lamb stew (melted in my mouth!), & merguez (the spice was exactly what I wanted) and chicken. We had crème brûlée for dessert. It was crowded but not loud. It was her birthday and we were so in love with the food and the ambience that we didn't want to leave. And we didn't feel pressured to leave as soon as we finished. This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I chose it to celebrate my birthday. I was verbally congratulated, but that was the extent of any effort from the restaurant to acknowledge the occasion. As for the food, we ordered mussels, a mezze platter, and a fish dish, along with two Aperol Spritzes. Our server asked about the preferred order of dishes, which we appreciated. The mezze platter and mussels arrived first, but after that, there was a long delay with the fish. Eventually, a dish was brought to the table without any explanation or introduction. It did not look like the fish we ordered. When I asked the server, she confirmed it was a mistake - it was actually octopus - and left it on our table. The food itself, including the mussels and octopus, was tasty. However, we never received the fish we originally ordered. After about 50 minutes, I approached a server to ask about it. I was told that there was "no space on the table" and that they were waiting for us to finish some appetizers before preparing the main course. I found this explanation unconvincing and somewhat unreasonable. It would have taken just one simple question to ask whether we were ready for the next course - assuming the order had actually been remembered. Instead, it felt like the dish had simply been forgotten. While mistakes can happen, giving such a reason rather than acknowledging the delay was disappointing. In the end, we decided to cancel the fish. Overall, my experience was mixed. No one made any effort to make my birthday feel special. Throughout the visit, no one checked on us to ask how everything was or if we were enjoying the food. At one point, my friend was left with a plate full of empty mussel shells. I had to call a server and ask for it to be replaced. Although the plate was taken away, no clean plate was brought, and I had to ask again. I would also not recommend ordering the mezze platter. It felt like a waste of money - the babaganoush was overly salty, the couscous was cold and slightly undercooked, and the rest consisted of random piles of vegetables. Overall, it resembled a leftover plate you might put together the morning after a holiday. When I paid the bill and thanked the server for the service, she responded with a visibly displeased attitude, despite the fact that I left a 22% tip - which, frankly, did not reflect the level of service we received, especially on such an important day for me. My husband and I were seated in a corner next to a heat lamp which was a plus. The service was great! Water was filled continuously, the waiters checked on us many times, and the food was brought out on time. We ordered a a steak tartare, escargot, prime ribeye steak, and the black cod. Everything was delicious! The ribeye steak was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. One of the best ribeyes I've ever had. The cod plate was beautifully plated with crispy skin on the outside and so soft inside. The escargot and steak tartare reminded me of Paris. Just melts in your mouth. It's got a smooth jalapeño taste with a candy inside. The salmon was so good with the peas and bacon that gave it all the flavor! Jenifer our attendant was an angel, gentle and with the best attitude. I had the lamb rack and my sister the Branzino and before both had Escargot. Straight out of a Grimm's tale. We were seated right away, then ghosted by our server for 20 minutes. She kept walking past us like we were invisible while doting on a table of six. By the time she finally showed, after flagging someone else down, her tone made it feel like we were inconveniencing her. We've been to plenty of packed restaurants that still manage to give attentive, warm service--so this kind of set the tone for the rest of the night. Food took another half hour. My salmon and my husband's filet mignon were fantastic, but his cocktail arrived later than our meal. Eye contact with staff became a game of "catch me if you can." Spoiler: we lost. The garden setting was loud but manageable... until a nearby family decided it was adorable to let their kid run around the table shrieking. If we wanted Chuck E. Cheese, we'd have gone there. Dessert, a passionfruit something-or-other, arrived quickly, but was clearly forgettable because I don't even have a photo. Grilled Portuguese octopus: perfectly grilled chewy octopus served with fingerling potatoes and seasoned with tamari vinaigrette, avocado mousse, cilantro, and toasted hazelnuts. Sooooo good. Must order. 4. Housemate Parker Roll with butter: basic rolls (5) with aged Parmesan and side of butter. Nothing special 5. Filet mignon: medium rare steak topped with quail eggs with side of roasted mushroom/pomme Fondant all sitting on a bed of parnsip puree. This was ok but nothing special. 6. Whole Grilled Branzino: whole fish topped with Chimichurri which gave it a light flavor. This dish was ok but nothing special. 7. Finished the night with a passion fruit tart. This was also just ok. Overall, a solid 4/5! I think as a French native myself, I was expecting more French dishes and French speaking staff but still a great dining experience overall. Here's what we ordered: Octopus 5/5 that one was great and pretty unique Couscous 4/5 chicken tasted the best, other meats were okay Black cod 4/5 Lavender creme brûlée 4/5 I couldn't even taste the lavender so that was a bummer Rhubarb tart 2/5 too tart And the cocktails were delicious: Moscow mule 5/5 Casanova (sweet strawberry) 5/5 Service was great, our server kept coming to refill our water without us asking, and packed our leftovers. We love the ambiance, the place was really cute for our wedding anniversary. We love Mediterranean food so we decided to try it here. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations in taste. The presentation was beautiful but the flavors were very simple and bland. The best thing was the charcuterie. The most flavor out of everything there was avocado sauce and potatoes from the octopus. The lamb was simple. And the escargot was our first time but I wouldn't know until we compare to other places. Our bill was $300 with 18% tip but I wouldn't come back because it simply was not worth it, the space was cute but the food and service was not worth the price. read more

Was up in the LA area over New Year's Eve and stopped by The Little Door for their NYE fixed menu. The restaurant comes up in a list of prettiest restaurants to dine in and it did not disappoint. The inside is dimly lit, romantic and enchanted with a rustic courtyard with lush trees and bougainvillea growing through the roof and lots of tiny lights giving a starry feeling. We were seated immediately as we had reservations and were promptly served menus and our drink orders were taken. We each opted to select different dishes from the fixed menu so we could try each other's dishes. Drinks were tasty and the food came out one after the other. All in all we went through the three course meal in about 90 minutes. The food was delicious with some dishes being better than others. One has to visit this restaurant just for the experience. read more

I celebrated my anniversary here and it was just okay. The ambiance is amazing and I genuinely enjoy the lay out of the restaurant. However, our server was extremely rude. We were definitely treated differently because of our age and not given the service we deserved. The food was mediocre and although the dessert was great nothing really lived up to my standards. This restaurant could be 10 times better if the service was better. When dining at more expensive restaurants, I believe the servers should have no expectations for tipping. Tipping is a way of saying you did a great job but if you didn't do not expect a big tip. Unlike this restaurant, Ocean 48 is something you all should definitely try. We came to The Little Door to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I'll start with the positives: the food was excellent--no complaints there. The wine was great as well, and the ambiance truly is romantic and whimsical, just like the photos suggest. That said, while the food was very good, I felt it was overpriced compared to other high-end restaurants we've experienced in Los Angeles, especially considering the overall service. Unfortunately, the service is what really brought the experience down. It felt a bit snobby and inattentive. I normally don't dwell on how I'm treated, but there was a noticeable shift in tone once my husband mentioned we live in Ontario (California, not Canada). After that, the interaction felt different--almost as if we were being viewed as second-class guests. It did make me wonder whether that, or even our phone number area code, played a role in us being seated right next to the bathrooms, despite informing the restaurant ahead of time that we were celebrating our anniversary. The seating itself was fine, but it was hard not to notice that there were much nicer tables available for what was supposed to be a special occasion. What could have still ended as a pleasant evening was ultimately spoiled at the end. After we paid the bill, the waiter approached my husband and questioned whether he had made a mistake, since only a $10 tip showed on the electronic payment. We calmly explained that we had left cash on the table to cover the full tip and that the $10 was simply extra. He did apologize, but followed it with, "sometimes people make mistakes," which felt unnecessary and awkward. I remained polite, but honestly, something about the entire experience just didn't sit right. I've had far better, warmer, and more professional experiences at restaurants that are equally--or even more--high-end. This could have been a memorable anniversary dinner, but the service ultimately overshadowed what should have been a lovely night. read more
