Vibe was romantic and sexy, I felt like we were in Europe. We came here for late night desert and lattes on a Saturday night. We were seated right away, and service was excellent. Our waiter brought us desert menus, waters, and then recommended some deserts and coffees. Early Grey Creme Brule was fantastic. It had unique decadent flavors. Passionfruit cheesecake was yumy, but did not love the coconut flakees, but tasted like we were on vacation. Definitely cannot wait to try dinner.

The ambianceeeee is super cutsieee! What I imagine the French Riviera is like lol adored the decor and cozy nonchalant vibes. Come have a drink or a fancy dinner - great for either. Okay, now for the food: Black mussels: curry deliciousness; 10/10 Caviar service: 8.5/10 (the pancakes were eh) Steak tartar: 9/10 (heavy on the horseradish but if you don't mind, you will love) Gnocchi: 7/10 ( pillowy soft but waaay salty) Dirty martini: 10/10!!!!

Came here for my bday dinner and it was great! The ONLY qualm I had...is that when the runner brought out our food...I CLEARLY saw him touch my cod with his bare fingers...adjusting it on the plate as he made his way to our table....really not sanitary and I would have said something to our server (who was so nice) but I didn't want to ruin the mood of it being my birthday so tried to just ignore that I have no clue where his fingers have been!!! the steak tartare was phenomenal, one of the better ones in LA, the shrimp was okay, it came out piping hot which was nice, but I will say the cod dish was delicious, the green beans I could do without, it was giving frozen bag of green beans nothing nice enough for the price. My fiancé loved the couscous and was a great amount for men with big appetites. But the EARL GREY CRÈME BRÛLÉE was absolute chefs kiss. now that was the best way to end the meal!

I called and made a reservation a week or so ahead for dinner on 7/5 at 6:30 (my birthday). I didn't find out until later, but my dad also called separately to let them know that we were coming to celebrate my bday (I think he wanted the workers to surprise me lol). Anyway-- on the day of my bday, 7/5, the staff had no idea who we were lol and there was no reservation under my name. Idk I took a star off for that because I thought that was weird and unorganized tbh. Luckily there was no wait! The food was pretty good. Some of it was just okay. The items I would get again if I came back are: 1. Ribeye steak; 2. Steak tartare; 3. French onion soup; 4. House made pappardelle. I wouldn't get the gem salad or the branzino (was a lil dry). Octopus: maybe depending on my mood. Vibes were nice though, and I wish we came a little later to see the restaurant get darker! They have lights that come on at night (according to other yelp pics lol). Anyway it was a good experience & I enjoyed feeling like I wasn't in LA.

Came here for me and my husband's anniversary and enjoyed our time. Their drinks are delish, try the cucumber martini! French onion is def a try if you love soup and if you like seafood, get the mussels. Curry flavor is so good and such a good size, they actually do not skimp on the mussels so it's so worth. As for the entrees, my husband got the ribeye steak and it was tasty and cooked perfectly. The scalloped potatoes that it came with was cheesy and delish! I opted for the cod and it was good as well, I recommend this entree if you want a lighter one since you munched on the appetizers already hehe. Service was great as well, they're all really friendly and attentive. The place is so cute as well, make sure you try to sit outside, it is such a cute place and pretty romantic. Highly recommend for a date night!!

Ambiance 11/10. As you enter the wooden door you feel like you're being transported to this magical , cozy , and romantic place that feels like you're in Europe. The vibe at night is so romantic. Service was good. Food was great too. We saw Usher! Definitely for those special nights out.

Such a beautiful birthday dinner at The Little Door! My boyfriend joined me for the celebration, & everything felt so special. The service was excellent, the ambiance was absolutely magical, & I loved that they offer customizable birthday touches to make the night feel even more personal. Yes, it's a pricier spot, but you're truly paying for the full experience...and it's worth it. Great portion sizes, stunning atmosphere, and such a romantic setting for a date night. Parking can be tough at night, so I definitely recommend valet for $15. Can't wait to come back!

Such a pretty restaurant!! Went for date night, food was good and service was even better! This restaurant is seriously so freakin cute. From the setting, the dishes, presentation. They have it down! Our server (forgot her name ) was so sweet and helped me with all my indecisiveness with the menu. Sidenote, I think their French onion soup is one of the best I've ever had. So many flavors in their dishes and nothing felt heavy. It was a great dinner. Definitely recommend for a night out.

The Little Door LA was a pretty nice experience overall, mostly because of the service and atmosphere. The food was honestly just mid and didn't feel that special, especially for the price. Most dishes were in the $40+ to around $80 range, so I expected a little more from the taste. However, the staff were really attentive and friendly, and the space was beautifully decorated with a cozy, romantic vibe. Even the restroom was surprisingly pretty. Overall, I'd recommend it more for the ambiance and service than for the food itself.

My boyfriend suprised me and took me to The Little Door for our late Valentines dinner and I loved it so so much :') The ambiance of this restaurant was AMAZING. It reminds me of the lantern scene in Tangled. It's literally the tangled ride at Tokyo Disneyland if you've ever been hehe. It can be pretty difficult to get parking at this restaurant... we searched around and got lucky with parking right at the front (not valet but street parking). Our server was amazing -- he had amazing customer service and he was very attentive. We ordered quite a few dishes: - Rack of Lamb - French Onion Soup - Grilled Octopus - Potato Puree - Fresh Pappardelle Pasta My favorites were the grilled octopus and the fresh pappardelle pasta. My boyfriend's favorite was the rack of lamb and the grilled octopus as well. If I had to recommend any dishes here, it would be the grilled octopus. For drinks I ordered a dirty martini extra dirty, and my boyfriend ordered the 4 pepper smoke cocktail. Overall I give this restaurant a 8.5/10. We had an amazing time here. This is a perfect place to go to for a date night. I love how it gives speakeasy vibes too.

Came here for their Valentine's Day special menu. It was really cute because they gave each couple a rose. People listen up if you want to wow your significant other then this place is definitely the spot to take them. Food 9/10 Their appetizers and mains were very fresh and tasted good! Their desserts were okay in my opinion. Service: 8/10 The servers were very nice and prompt. They checked in on us in a manner were it didn't feel like they straight up abandoned us or that they were pestering every 5 min. Loved that. It did take them a while to deliver each dish to our table and the wait got longer as the night went on. Minor inconvenience though because we enjoyed our time there just taking everything in. Ambiance: 10/10 Absolutely gorgeous and romantic!! Would DEFINITELY recommend this place as a romantic restaurant for special occasions!

Came here for my birthday and overall had a really good experience. The decor was beautiful and the ambiance was great -- definitely a spot for date night or a special occasion. For appetizers, we ordered the octopus and escargot. The octopus was easily the highlight of the night. The flavor, sauce, and texture were all amazing, and the roasted herb potatoes paired perfectly with the salsa verde and chimichurri. I would highly recommend this dish. The escargot was also very flavorful, especially if you enjoy garlic. The bread it comes with is a great touch since you can dip it into the sauce or pour the garlic butter over it. For entrées, we ordered the Atlantic salmon and the rack of lamb. The salmon tasted very fresh, but unfortunately lacked flavor. The rack of lamb -- which is considered their signature dish -- was tender, juicy, and worth trying at least once, but honestly the appetizers stood out more than the entrées for me. We also got two cocktails: the Pomegranate Margarita and the Casanova. Both were good and definitely on the sweeter side, so I'd recommend them if you enjoy sweeter drinks. Overall, I would come back mainly for the appetizers and cocktails.

There is valet available or find parking on the street. Great ambiance each little section was designed and decorated differently very nice dim rustic vibes. Service was great from the host to the server and the bussers. Ordered the mezze plate which had different dips like hummus and a unique variety of pickled veggies i especially enjoyed the shredded carrots. For the mains i ordered marys organic chicken which was cooked to perfection with a nice crispy simple seasoned skin accompanied with carrots potatoes and other veggies it also came with some kind of gravy sauce on the side in a nice little dish Also ordered the rack of lamb which was so tender and melts in your mouth top tier meat full of flavor! Ended it all with the passion fruit coconut cheesecake which was a great balance of tart crunchy and creamy goodness. I highly recommend

The Little Door Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Little Door

    Are there gluten free options?

They do ask for allergies and substitute/accommodate accordingly.

Does the restaurant have high chair for toddlers?

    Yes they do, upon request

I was wondering if it gets cold in the outside area, I have a reservation at 8 and it's says it's going to be about 57 degrees?

We were outside and it was fine at 8pm. I think there might be heaters

Is foie gras available?, because I don't see it on the main menu.

We wish it was but it’s been basically ban in California

    I'm a Level 10 D-bag. Am I worthy of eating here?

They will gladly take your money Sir D-bag...

    What's dress code?

Casual but you can dress up if you want. I saw some glamorous people when I went but also some regular in jeans and a t shirt with flip flops.

What are the probabilities of getting on the waitlist and then getting called?

Not impossible. There is also a bar section. I went without a reservation on a Friday.

Do they have parking spaces or just valet?

    Both. Valet or street parking.

Is it better to dine here during the day or at night?

We are open for dinner only

    How much to validate car?

    Depends of the location

    Are there vegan options?

    Yes!

Is there still roses hanging from the ceiling outdoor?

It's not roses, but it IS Bougainvilleas.

    Dress code for men?

I'd recommend collared shirt, sport coat if you're feeling fancy - the restaurant is a mix of elegant and eclectic so it accommodates a range of attire.

Can we still book events for say 25-35 people?

Doubtful since any gatherings over 10 people are banned right now.

Is this business open for outdoor seating or just takeout and delivery thank you?

Seating "inside" their outdoor space. Reservations recommended.

Is there parking at the location or do we park in the street?

    It's valet or street parking

Do they have high chairs to accommodate my daughter?

    How much to valet?

    $10

How does seating work when you have a reservation and it rains? Are all reservations seated indoors? Does it usually cause a delay in being seated? I don't mind, I just want to know what to expect.

The outdoor section is covered if it rains

Do they have options for Vegetarians?

see my review. I had the the best pasta I have ever had here. I am also a restaurant of this caliber will do about anything you want.

The service was absolutely on pointe thanks to Kaiya, Teri, and Randy. Warm, polished, attentive, and just the right amount of fun. Hubs and I split everything, which was the right move because this meal was rich, delicious, and very filling. We started with the baguette bread service, which is an additional charge but 100% worth it. The bread, salted butter, and mixed berry spread were pure France in a basket. Next up was the French onion soup, and wow. Cheesy, full of flavor, with a beautiful broth that somehow managed to be rich without being too salty. Perfection. Then came the Big Mec burger, as seen on Food Network's top burgers -- and yes, it absolutely lives up to the hype. Definitely enough for two. Perfectly seasoned patties, melty cheese, a fresh brioche bun, and that bordelaise sauce bath underneath? Flavor-forward, decadent, and unforgettable. We rounded out the meal with a slice of French toast because apparently we make excellent life choices. Also delicious, also worth sharing. This was not just lunch -- it was an experience. Will I go back? Absolument! Next up: dinner.

Got seated on the patio on a beautiful day, so we were perfectly happy. After a quick glance at the menu, our recommendations from our server, we decided to order. We started with the escargot, as one does at a French restaurant, and the French onion soup. The escargot cube bathed in butter, garlic and parsley and were very tasty. I mean, how can they not be when bathed in garlic and butter? The French onion soup was also delicious with ample gruyere cheese overflowing. Pure indulgence! For entrees, we all tried something different. The steak frites were.... steak frites. If you've tried one, you've tried most, so not very memorable. The duck confit was cooked well and not overly fatty, which was nice. The omelette, let me say, is beautiful to look at. You almost don't want to touch it because it is very picrure-esque, and absolutely cooked perfectly. A, dare I say, perfect omelette. Finally was the Big Mec. Now, there are a lot of good burgers in Los Angeles, but the Big Mec is one of the greats. So much flavor with the double wagyu patties, cheese, special sauce all while sitting in a Bordelaise sauce. It isn't something you would eat every day, as it is heavy, but it is phenomenal when you do. I'd say one of the top five burgers in Los Angeles, in my humble opinion. Overall, delicious French restaurant in Hollywood, a little above Hancock Park, serving delicious food. Get the escargot and French onion soup to start, and definitely get the omelette and the Big Mec, you will not be disappointed.

For the record, the burger IS worth the trip should you only order that... but so are the scallops and the sea bream. Those three were easily my top three favorites and we tried quite a bit. I loved the uniqueness of each dish. Camphor is a low key, beautifully done restaurant in the Arts District. The interior is pleasantly inviting and quiet with a jazzy/old school playlist. Definitely a charm the minute you step inside. Open kitchen concept with bar seating available too. Our server, Ivan, was pleasant and patient. Money well spent (and it is a little pricey).

I chose seating at the Chef's Counter thinking it would be a different and interesting dining experience -- it did not disappoint. The husband absolutely enjoyed it! Upon arrival the sweet hostess warmly welcomed us in, then wished us both a happy birthday. Our seats had full view of the chef and the kitchen. Our incredible experience started when a small bowl of what looked like two Alka-Seltzer tabs, was placed in front of us. A small pour of warm water expanded them to become lightly citrus-scented towelettes. After cleansing our hands, the amuse-bouche arrived shortly after. We knew after this bite-sized hors d'œuvre, that we were going to have a wonderful dinner. The husband chose the Steak au Poivre (of course) with Pomme Frites while I was drawn to the Scallop Demi Lune. But first bread -- we chose Sourdough accompanied by Époisses Butter & Wild Honey -- so, so good! Then the mains (wow!) -- everything was meticulously prepared and presented. The steak was unbelievably delicious with the pepper sauce which was poured at the table. The Pomme Frites were perfectly crisp and tasty, served in a small cast iron vessel to keep them warm throughout our meal. But the scallop pasta was the showstopper for me. It arrived with a side of warm, lightly toasted brioche to pick up all that luscious sauce. It looked so appetizing that the husband who has refused scallops in the past, couldn't resist a taste and he loved it! Watching the chef and his team manage service for a full house was truly delightful. We enjoyed the experience of seeing all the different dishes plated and the chef calling out for "hands". We were especially fascinated with the assembly of the Chocolate Hazelnut at the station right in front of us. We fully intended to have it for dessert but sadly had no room for it (next time!). And just when we thought it was over, we were surprised with two edible candles, lit at our table. The husband really liked these white chocolate lemon treats -- he ate them both! We also received lovely handwritten birthday cards. Then two little pecan madeleines arrived with the check -- those were mine. :) I love, love French Food -- Camphor takes it to another level. The entire team is quite exceptional. Seriously excellent from beginning to end. We look forward to returning often. Parking -- it's the LA Art District so it will be challenging if you don't opt for valet or the paid lots. We were pleasantly shocked to have come by street parking as we drove up 2nd street.

There is very little street parking and two parking garages around the block, with typical super fast accelerated pricing which becomes $20 quick. You can make a reservation on their website or the app using Resy. I called because it was a holiday and was able to make a same day reservation, unfortunately it took me over 30 minutes to figure out the parking siutation and to get there. Service was good, both the host and the server were very friendly and helpful. It was warm and super busy so I could see they were stressed. It's pretty small inside, good for couples harder for bigger groups. There is also some seating outside but glad I was inside since it was even hotter out there. I got the bentobox: binchotan jidori chicken teriyaki, seasonal vegetables, ztsukemono, miso soup, rice. Everything was crafted well and beatifully plated. Overall a very delicious meal. The chicken was definitely fatty and heavy

Unfortunately didn't get to try any of the more French-inspired dishes so can't comment on that aspect. It was busy on a Saturday morning at 11 am and we had to wait a bit, even with reservations that I had booked 2 days in advance (there were still plenty of slots left). However, the service and turnover were fast and the wait staff were extremely nice and attentive. The interior was snug but clean and comfortable. We parked at the Aiso Parking garage for $2 for 2 hours.
