I have become a regular during the warm months for a number of years, and it never disappoints with the different combinations of flavors I have tried. Some flavors are discontinued, and new ones emerge. Post-pandemic some of the offerings are no longer around, and they closed the covered seating area at the back of the store. Decent ice cream. I came here on Sunday around 6:30pm. It was very busy and long lines of customers. It took awhile for my turn to order. I got kiddie side which is 2 big scoops of 2 flavors: strawberry cheesecake and black raspberry. The staff somehow skipped my order and prepared the next custom ice cream instead. Once they realized it, they got my ice cream, but it took some decent time waiting. They had good size of parking lot and plenty seats in the back for customers. Many options to choose from when ordering ice cream. The staff are amazing. Today was a little slow because there was some training occurring. No issues waiting because they truly were amazing and not many in line. It is a cash only business so three orders a flurry, a baby ice cream and a baby soft serve vegan was 16.80 for those three things. I get it's inflation but if we had a few more people with us or bigger sides the cost is more than a quick cash purchase. They might want to start considering credit card for in person transactions. So many people told me I had to check this place out for their massive ice cream cones. I stopped by and was surprised at how busy it was ( told the lines can be crazy long, but it moves fast) Large selection of different hard ice cream flavors. A few types of custard and sherbets. It's all about the size here, I knew enough to go small.,, I went with a baby size chocolate ice cream and I'm not ashamed! Lol I love ice cream but some of those sizes are just way to much! Lugia's is a staple in Spencerport. The lines are long, but it does not take that long to get through them. Ice cream sizes are crazy so beware! We got the smallest size the mini, which was still a little pricy, but we could barely finish it because it was a lot of ice cream. Lugia's is a place that consistently wows everyone we bring here. At times, the lines can be daunting and customers often don't move out of the way enough for the staff to hand you your food. That said, if you deal with that, you're treated to the best ice cream in the area. Wonderful flavor combinations with so much to choose from that making a decision is downright difficult (but fun). My only gripe that prevents me from going with five stars is the cash only bit. It's 2024 and people don't always carry cash or not enough sometimes. Yes, there is an ATM but that's a pain and there is a fee higher than a credit card fee -- mostly it's inconvenient and I don't know how much to withdraw so I have to take out too much. If they are interested in speed, only allow contactless payments. Aside of mobile payments on iPhone and Android, most physical cards come with that built in now. If it's about the credit card fees, charge the customer and let them make that decision. Lots of businesses do. If I can pay festival vendors out of the back of their van or under a tent with contactless or card, surely I should be able to at a very busy brick and mortar establishment with lots of staff. read more

Haven't been to this place since I was a kid. They have so many different flavors, it's crazy. I like that they allow you to sample flavors. I ended up getting the campfire s'mores. It was good. The flavor tasted like a s'more. It has pieces of chocolate and marshmallows swirls. I would of liked graham cracker pieces in it. That would of been 5 stars. But you could also go up the road and buy a gallon for 5 dollars (many of the ice cream choices are Perry's) They sell a variety of brands, largely Perry's but also Hershey's, Guilford's and Turkey hill. So they do have probably the biggest selection of flavors when compared to other places. Buuuuuuuut, they limit you to only two flavors despite how big of a size you order. This may be negotiable, I didn't try but it was stated on their sign. The location is just placed amongst roads, no cute walk way or seating area to enjoy. Its quite large and gives of the feel that your just chilling in a large parking lot. You can tell it's popular though, there are several windows to take orders and they all usually have lines. I would much rather go up the road to Byrne Dairy. Their large soft serve is under three dollars, it's creamy and delicious and can't be bought in the store. read more

My cousins raved about this place ever since I arrived in town and made sure that I was not going to go home without trying it out. There was several lines of people waiting to be serviced. However, my cousin did say that the lines tend to be much longer regularly. I cannot begin to tell you the amount of flavors that Lugia's offers but it has tons of flavors of soft and hard serve ice cream. I have been coming to LuGia's for over 15 years now! This Ice Cream place used to be the best spot for the best Ice cream. However it seems that in the last couple of years it has gone down hill from what it used to be. The best thing about LuGia's and what they are known for are their portions. Starting with Baby going up to Large it's a lot of ice cream! For example a Kiddie is two huge scoops of ice cream if not more. This used to be great, getting a good portion of ice cream for your money. However now the prices have gone up and the scale is just skewed so now a baby (one scoop) at LuGia's is the same price if not more than a small (one scoop) at any other ice cream place. The quality of the ice cream has also gone down. The past 2 times I have been there I have had chips of ice in the ice cream and others complained their ice cream tasting frost bite. The only things that have remained the same are that there is always a line and they still have a huge nice picnic area in the back to enjoy your ice cream and converse with other families. Came over after dinner with friends around 8:30 pm on a warm summer weekday night: the (big) parking lot was almost full. The lines were so long that I could not read the items on their menu other than the categories in yellow when we just joined the queue. The time we spent waiting in line was necessary because there are just too many flavors to choose from and some might confuse you, like Queen of Hearts, or Gone Fishing. They have sizes from baby (1 scoop), kiddie (2), small to large, and I was shocked seeing people holding a small. Bless their metabolism and/or guts. I tried the Gone Fishing, which is like a cookie dough with chocolate bits, and settled on baby size Kahlua Almond Amaretto in a plain cone. The almond flavor was straightforward in the taste and scent. Kahlua, on the other hand, was not discernible. I tried one of the vegan ice cream (lemon strawberry??) from my friend's cone and the texture is similar to a chilled well-blended thickened smoothie. Anyway, it was an experience worth having, and the location is just right off 490. Price wise, mine came out $3.50, similar to other ice cream shops in town. Don't forget to bring cash though. You can sit by the tables on the lawn as long as you are not bugged by bugs. read more

Like Dr. Evil, I took Luge lessons as a child, and that makes me uniquely qualified to say LuGia's is one of the best-tasting custards you'll ever put in your mouth. Even better than your best-tasting ex boyfriend's custard. It's the kind of custard anyone would swallow, even if you're not into boys at all. Then again I'm not into boys, but I love swallowing custard. Go figure. What to get: Vanilla Custard. What else: I like cats. Also: It's not really open til 10.30 every night. Only on weekends. Other nights it's 9.30pm close. If it were full of people who mis-hear rumours like Chinese Whispers, then it'd be LooseEars. They say Loose Lips Sink Ships, so what do Loose Ears do? They cause people to end up in Police Custardy. Rochester is blessed with some fantastic custard spots (far better than its rival Buffalo-716 area), with the best national Custard chain (Rita's) in Henrietta, and the best local chain of custard shops (Abbott's) in the whole world. 585 is so freaking awesome for custard, even more than a bunch of Frat Boys at a ranch with neon red lights in the Nevada Desert. And LuGia's is right up there with the best of them, making some of the thickest, most luscious Vanilla Custard you're ever likely to gulp down, girls. And boys. If all the people using the restroom were applauding loudly, then it'd be LooCheers. But it's not. I mean, depending on what's happening in the loo, but it's usually not. I stopped here one night as the final port of call on my second 585 food tour of summer 2015. I was already stuffed full of every kind of custard you can imagine (minds out of the gutter) and yet LuGia's made a real impression. It's the pride of Spencerport. Unlike male custard, it's not salty at all. It's creamy, sweet and delicious. If it were full of people exposing themselves for attention (like I often do), it'd be LookHere's. I was shocked by how busy it was. I had to park all the way in the back on the grass, as most people did. There were hundreds of people here, including lots of hot girls, boys dressed for the Prom (and ready to make their own custard), plus old people, and crazy maniacal tattooed muscle guys that were looking for a fight. How Spencerport of them. I even saw a girl wearing a Neymar shirt, which pleases me. When white suburban America can name Neymar more easily than naming who the Bills selected in the draft, my mission here is complete. If it were full of underdressed hotties, it'd be HooChias. Oh wait, it is. The girl at LuGia's told me to skip the Lemon Ice and get the custard. She was a teenager, so I took her advice. I'd never say no to a teenage girl, ever. Oh wait, that came out wrong. That's what he said. After he made some custard. OK this is getting weird. Then again when do my reviews not. If you come here with your friend and make them buy you custard, then it's MooChias. And it'll only set you back $3 for a large baby size. So come to Rochester, try Abbott's, try Rita's, and make sure you try LuGia's too. Three of the best custards you'll ever swallow. Don't get it all over your face, as napkins cost money, and you wouldn't want all of that money shot. Shot, as in wasted. I have been wanting to try out LuGia's ever since my husband mentioned them, like 3 years ago when we first met. (We lived on the East side for years and then moved to NC... But finally, FINALLY I got to go today because we are up visiting family!) I came around 2pm. There was not much of a line because I have heard that it gets crazy busy here at night. Sometimes even wrapping around the building. Despite being a short line, there was still a bit of a wait. No big deal because I wasn't in any hurry. I went with the Peanut Butter S'Mores (my sister-in-law's highly recommended suggestion) and it was AMAZING! I got the "kiddie"-size and it was huge! I actually got a stomach ache from eating too much. Next time I will get the "baby"-size. I liked the little cone holder which will catch drips so your hands don't get all sticky. There are just sooooooo many flavors to choose from. Hard to decide which to try. If you get a kiddie or bigger you can try 2 flavors. Baby-size is one scoop and thus, only one flavor. Cost-wise, the kiddie was $3.75. Not too bad. (But then you think about how you could go to Wegman's a buy a container of Perry's ice cream for about the same cost as 2 scoops....) When it comes to sweets, I don't leave a crumb behind or a clean spoon. I couldn't do that at LuGia's because their servings are enormous! Their sizes are double what you ask for. As painful as it was, I had to toss half of it out because I was stuffed. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw two girls walking away with a leaning tower of ice cream piled on an apparently sturdy, made-for-LuGia's ice cream cone. There seems to be a loyal crowd regardless of the day and weather. The clouds were threatening, but we waited until it was our turn at the window. It gave me some time to check out their wall of flavors while we waited. I ordered the Caribbean coconut which was soft vanilla ice cream with coconut shavings. The coconut added the right amount of sweetness without overkill. The bf ordered coconut almond fudge with chocolate sprinkles. It was hard coconut ice cream with lots of chunks of fudge. It was too sweet for me and I didn't catch any almond flavor or nuts in the few bites that I tasted. Overall, a 4.5 out of 5! The only improvement I would like to see is a description of the flavors. I think it would help shorten the wait time so that the indecisive (ahem) already know what to order without asking for descriptions at the window.
