I feel compelled to write a review as places and people like this are a rarity. I had my front bumper painted due to some scratches and several body shops gave me a quote over $1,000. I went to Luis and the cost was under $500 and excellent work. I went recently for the repainting of the back bumper as there was a bit more gauges there. Quote was $520 which was totally reasonable. I got the work done and I went to pay and Luis said that will be $450. I was like what? He felt that was the price for the work and had me pay less. Who in world does this? This guy is super honest and fair and the work done is amazing. People and places like this simply don't exist. I'm telling everyone to go here where you will be treated fairly and get great work. Ok, at first I thought it was a fluke. That this place/Luis was too good to be true. I was tired of seeing my boyfriends car all beat up in our driveway so on a friends recommendation, I took the car there for some body work. The estimate was very good, and I agreed to have them do the work. When the time came to pick up the car, not only was the work I had requested done, several other items had been taken care of as well. Then, when I paid the bill, it was $150.00 less than we had agreed upon. Wait, there is more. I brought my black car to have some scratches removed on the hood (b/c my bf put a box on it and scratched it all up) and the drivers door. He buffed out the hood and cleaned up the scratch. Perfect. The charge you ask? 0. he would not take any money. Finally, this last Saturday, I roll into the shop at 4:30 to get a headlight repair done for the car someone wants to buy at 5 pm and he fixes it on the spot. This time I insisted he take some money, which he did graciously. I wasn't going to let him get away with it again. If you don't go here for bodywork, you are nuts. I could not be more pleased with my experience with Greg and Luis Auto Repair. I was sideswiped overnight (hit and run) and had a relatively small dent and some scratches to deal with. I went to three shops in the area for quotes - Luis was significantly cheaper than the other two shops (less than half of the highest quote!) and I felt confident that they knew what they were doing. One shop tried to tell me that because my paint color had a pearlescent color it would cost a lot more. Greg assured me that it's a common finish and they make the paint in-house and it would not be an issue or cost more. My car was ready the next day (earlier than expected) and they were flexible with the pickup day/time. When I did end up coming, Greg had stepped out and his colleague didn't have access to the quote/payment system. He simply gave me my key and asked me to call back later to pay via phone. Since I had my 5-month-old with me it was SO nice to not have to come back in person. When I spoke with Greg to pay via phone, he let me know they were giving me a discount of ~$75 - a very nice surprise! Also, they cleaned my car inside and out before I picked it up - it hadn't been that clean in years! :) The actual work was perfect, but it was the customer service that compelled me to write this review. I brought my car here to get a side mirror replaced. I had the part; I just needed someone to install it. I called around and found this place. All of the other places wanted $100 to put it in; they took 15 minutes and charged me $30. Easy peasey. read more

Ok, I went in today to pick up the car and it looks great. I got charged less than what they originally estimated. The chrome pieces that need to be replaced are still on order - but were not forgotten about. I think the intial trip in may have just been a fluke, they made things right. read more

When you arrive, you will see that this isn't the fanciest place in town but Louis and his father have been in business for 50 years. They were recommended by the garage manager at 3260 Lakeshore (a high end condo building) who has sent residents cars there for years. My daughter ran into a car in her parking garage and we took both cars to Louis. The repair estimates were significantly (40+%) lower than their competitors, they completed the work ahead of schedule, and the quality of the work was outstanding. So, if you want "fancy" and you want a place that takes credit cards don't go to Louis. But if you want top quality work, exceptional pricing, and reliable scheduling you can't afford to go to any other shop. Oh, and if you need a rental car Hertz is across the street. read more

luis is a great guy to work with - he's flexible and is always accommodating. i took a turn too closely and smashed two passenger side rear panels. damage wasn't too horrible and the shop was able to repair the panels, repaint, and make it look pretty darn good for a fraction of the price if i went about replacing the damaged panels. this shop does repairs for my building's parking garage, which is how i learned of them - and am excited i finally have a shop in the city that won't over charge me. read more

My beamer had some damage on the front end, rust as well. I was qouted by Tiger's auto body shop on lincoln and western for 700$. I said abosolutely not, theres no way im paying that much, and I knew they were trying to get over on me. I figured I could try to fix it myself and spend 50 bucks on the materials needed. I thought about it more and wanted a professional job, one that I would feel confident about and I did not trust myself to do it, so i searched for shops around my apartment (lakeview). I found Louis. I went in on a monday and was qouted at 300$, he said it would be ready on wednesday afternoon. I have had bad experiences with auto shops holding my car for a week plus and not calling me with any updates, but louis sure enough called me on wednesday afternoon and said my car was ready. The work made the car look as good as new! I am very satisfied with their work and will def be going back if I need anymore body work in the future read more
