We've ordered takeout from this restaurant several times and with somewhat mixed results, mostly good. The arepas are delicious - my favorite is the pabellon! The cachapas are also very good. We've also ordered the Paisa bowl a few times which is also good but sometimes comes with overcooked steak and eggs depending on how you ask for it. We have never eaten at this location but it seems very nice and clean inside and we've always had good service and an easy pick-up process. read more

Four of us went for an early Friday night dinner, and it was our first time going to Luka. The restaurant was mostly empty at that hour, and so we didn't understand why it took so long to get our drinks and why the server couldn't remember who got what drink out of the three of us who ordered cocktails. When you are charging a service fee, you should be providing a certain level of service. It's Serving 101 to know who ordered what drink. The service fee is another issue, as the server did not point out to us that one was being charged. Luckily, one of us noticed it on the bill. In most places, the fee is circled or highlighted on the bill, or the server mentions it is included. It doesn't really bother me because I typically tip more than the 18% that was charged, provided the service was good. It was good except for the drinks, as I mentioned. Two of us ordered the picanha and were disappointed. The cut of meat seemed to be sub-par. The fried yuca came with a sauce, but there was only a very small amount provided. Yes, you could ask for more, but why? One of us had the soup and said it was good and I had the chicharrón, which was good. Again, it came with a very small amount of sauce and I did have to ask for more. Anyway, it was just ok, which is too bad. We are always looking for a great place to go as we go out every Friday and Saturday night, and this just wasn't it. read more

I have looked at this place every time we ate breakfast in the restaurant next door. My wife sent it to me on Yelp along with another place. It won't by default. We were just up the block from it. Now I wish we had here gone here sooner. Wow the food and the service were incredible. We started with some Columbian empanada, they were better then any place I've had them from before. I don't know what my wife had but it look really good. Now for myself I had the Picanha with a side of avocado and fried bananas. I could not believe how much I loved it. We also got a side of fried yucca. It's was cooked perfectly and didn't need any additional sauce for flavor. We rounded of our meal with icecream topped with flan. Who knew flan and icecream went really good together. I might have to go back just for that alone. I really wanted to like this place since I've seen a few videos from them on social media. We ordered the Picana for two which came with three sides. We chose the fries, Cesar salad and baked plantains with cheese. The picana itself tasted good but a little over cooked. We asked for medium and out of the four filets we received, two of them were well done. On the menu, it said it came with two sauces; chimichurri and a hot sauce and we did not recieve any of the two. When we asked the waiter she nodded and never came back. She also did not come back with a side dish that was missing. They never brought us the plantains with cheese which I was excited to try. We asked her and again she disappeared, we never saw her again that night. They charged us for the plantains and when we said something the new waiter had to double check, went inside and took another ten minutes to come back with a new receipt. We decided not to even try dessert because dinner was so confusing and we were tired of waiting. I felt like the side dishes were also small for a sharing platter. The Cesear salad was enough for one person and so were the fries. They also charges us $4.50 for a few slices of avocado. Even though I liked the meat despite being overcooked, I don't think I will be back. Service alone was subpar. Parking is free in the plaza. read more

Came for brunch with my sister and cousin to Luka. I must say that the service is 5 stars. The restaurant quickly became crowded and with good reason. The food is excellent. They have many options for brunch and everything we saw coming out looked delicious. I had the arepa with egg and coffee. My sister had the two toast options with eggs. Luka right off Broward and University. For as long as I've lived in Davie, I knew it existed but always forgot about it until driving past it. Going inside, the restaurant is really nice. A bit modern but still keeps that bistro vibe which is awesome. Our server was super nice and attentive during our visit. My wife and I got 4 items total : mango juice to share, arepitas, a carne asada bowl, and al pastor tacos. The mango juice is a great size for sharing and it's somewhere between a smoothie consistency and a juice consistency. The arepitas were so good. There were ham and cheese, pastor, pulled pork, and a guacamole focused one and each were awesome. My wife's tacos were perfectly spicy and the chicken was super tender. My carne asada was good just how I wanted and, while some of the items maybe lacked seasoning individually, the whole of the parts was great and it felt as healthy as it looked. Cost wise, Luka gives you a lot of bang for your buck. The portion sizes are generous and hearing the total gave me a "wow nice" type reaction rather than a "are you serious?!" one which is a BIG deal in today's economy. read more

It was our first time here, the host greeted us while asking. Our server today was Carlos, we loved him, he was kind and attentive -- he only works the breakfast shifts. We both had the truffle omelette and it was delicious , I do recommend. The frappe was strong so don't expect Starbucks style like I did hahah. The hot cocoa with the heart was cute and yum. I came here for lunch on Sunday with two other people since it was recommended by a friend. We got two paisa bowls and the Latin Luka burger. The paisa bowls were good, the steak was cooked nicely and overall nice presentation. The frijoles(beans) were pretty disappointing but the rest of the items in bowl were good. The Latin Luka burger was good as well. I would give this place 4 stars but the service was okay/mediocre at best. The waitress was inattentive and took forever to get us our drinks. The place adds an automatic 18% gratuity tip so it felt that she did not care about providing good service as her tip is automatically added to the bill. We came in looking for a good colombian breakfast and once we saw the paisa bowl on google we quickly changed our prior stop and drove over to Luka, bomb decision! They have a mainly colombian menu they have cachapas, all day breakfast menus and of course actual food like burgers rice steaks fish, even fried fish. They also have a drink menu and a menu with fresh juices which we will have to try because they looked amazing when taken to the table next to ours! To start our server carlos was very attentive consider the restaurant filled up after we sat down he was able to get our food in quickly and quickly get us our coffee before our food came- an essential for breakfast. We ordered 2 paisa bowls and the venezuelan empanadas cheese and beef they were so airy and warm and a great appetizer already so filling with the coffee. the bowls we had were amazing portions the meat was so soft and tender. I will be coming back it really gave me a flashback to Colombia and the authentic food and breakfast they have something that so hard to find. My server Carlos even made sure i got my side of cheese which is something colombian's love ontop of their meals and the cheese was identical to the original kind tasted in colombia. i give this place a 10/10 for authenticity, taste, food and service. Check this place out last night and wasn't disappointed. Maria Fernanda took care of us and she was helpful with the menu and very sweet. The restaurant itself is small and clean. There's little tables with couches that was a cute touch. Started with the ceviche which was good. Grateful Maria mentioned trying the spicy sauce on the side. For dinner I had the picanha tacos which was delicious. I got a side of chimichuri to add on. I wish I got a photo of the Lomo which was said to also be amazing. The food is good but the service is the worst I have ever seen in Plantation. They charge an automatic service fee of 18% per table so basically no incentive to care about the type of service they're providing. We waited 20 minutes for water to be brought out! That's basic restaurant service 101. I ordered a latte. It wasn't hot because it had likely been sitting there since there are only 2 servers for an entire restaurant full of people. I asked to it to be heated up which took another 20 minutes. The servers didn't care at all. Didn't even apologize. This is the second time I've been here with horrible service. I will not be back. we visited this place for the first time. The place is nice, the hostess is very nice and friendly. we ordered a cappuccino and a cold machiato. I am not sure why businesses have a difficult time making coffees the way they were meant to be made. They made me a latte, filled with milk. I noticed upon holding it as it was way to heavy. I questioned it and the guy said that more than half is espresso, which I have never seen before. I took it as I was heading to work and it was piping hot along with other drink. When I got to the office and took a sip, the coffee was horrible it was all milk. The other drink was really bad as well, both landed in the garbage. If you are lactose intolerant do not buy their coffee. Pastries were ok, not great . It's a niche place, not for me. read more

We ordered the pichana with 2 sides. The only downfall was our server. He took our order and never came back. He was to busy doing side work and was NOT attentive to his patrons. A unique, authentic spot newly opened in Plantation. You get all the delicious Latin American flavors at this spot! The quality is spot on, the food is delicious and unique, and the coffee comes highly recommended and definitely worth checking out. We got the tasting board, which is enough to feed 2-3 people for around $47. It comes with 4 different meats, arepas, tostones, guacamole, and yuca. It was more than enough to feed both my husband and myself. I wasn't a fan of the blood sausage. It's just not for me, but the steak was some of the best I've had. We ended with the guava dessert sundae and a latte. The coffee was worth trying, as they are known for their coffee. The guava dessert was incredible. It was a perfect sweet ending. I also got the coconut lemonade. Although I must not have read it correctly, it was frozen, but oh, so delicious. I know this was much needed in the area, there's really nothing like it. I started out with a caramel latte and the. My friend and I split the Venezuelan empanadas and each had one beef and one chicken. Both were delicious and the green sauce was amazing. We also split the guacamole with chicharrones and plantains. I really enjoyed the plantains and she enjoyed the chicharrones so it worked out perfectly. My friend ordered the eggs and sausage on top of two arepitas and I had the skinny omelette. We were so excited to see that they served breakfast all day as that was exactly what we were craving. I tried placing an order for pick by calling in. I was told to pay prior (only place I've ever had to do that) while they ask for a tip before you even step foot. I have a gift card I tried using that and even willing to text the QR code on the back. They refused and said that you can't use gift cards for takeout, only for dine in. As I was talking to the manager and tried telling him I'll just use my credit card he hung up on me. He spoke little English and was even less help.
