I personally cannot recommend this place for a few reasons. First ordered their version of eggs benedict not on menu but showed as a special.. only place I have ever been to that serves it with only one egg and no side for $19!! Next I asked for milk for my coffee was charged a minimal fee for it (why?)'then I was also charged extra because I ordered decaf coffee (really!) third until I got the bill I had no knowledge of the extra charges but they also had the nerve to charge me 18% tip!! food was average but It appears they feel they can charge extra for anything!! read more

Fantastic service and great food and coffee! Beautiful restaurant and very unsuspecting from the outside. Our servers were very attentive and gave great suggestions for our order. I started out with a caramel latte and the. My friend and I split the Venezuelan empanadas and each had one beef and one chicken. Both were delicious and the green sauce was amazing. We also split the guacamole with chicharrones and plantains. I really enjoyed the plantains and she enjoyed the chicharrones so it worked out perfectly. My friend ordered the eggs and sausage on top of two arepitas and I had the skinny omelette. We were so excited to see that they served breakfast all day as that was exactly what we were craving. I popped into Luka for lunch, and wow--the food and drinks hit the spot! I had a craving for empanadas, so I ordered the mini Venezuelan empanadas, the pollo asada bowl, and a strawberry smoothie. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Ana was amazing and made the experience even better. Ordered a chicken arepa to go from this place. It wasn't great. Chicken for the most part was incredibly dry that it was inedible. I pulled out half of what was in the arepa (it did have a lot which would have been great if it wasn't so over cooked) My mom got the starter empanadas and said they were amazing. She did say she'd go back for those again (hence rating). Probably worth another try but for something else at least for me. read more

We came for an early dinner, sat down quickly since there were only 5 other tables sitting. It got busier as the evening progressed. The waitress came over and took our drink order. I ordered the fresh mango juice and my wife ordered the lemonade with panela or sugar cane sugar which made it appear brown, both were delicious. I ordered the chicharones for the appetizer, cut into bite size pieces and it came with an arepa, perfectly crisp and crunchy. For the main dish I ordered the lomo salteado bowl, came with white rice and a perfectly cooked egg on top, the lomo was very well seasoned and tender and also came with perfectly cooked fries. My wife ordered the " I'm Feeling It " burger medium rare , comes with ham and bacon lettuce and tomato and a fried egg on top. She said it was perfectly cooked medium rare and again with perfectly cooked fries. Will definitely return, I would like to try the breakfast. They are open from 7 am to 10 pm. read more

The burger was basic nothing special in my eyes but the Lomo saltado empanadas were delicious!! They had very good flavor with the spicy sauce plus the empanada itself was soft and flaky. Now the coffee...if you truly love the flavor of espresso and appreciate the traditional you will love this place! The cappuccino was awesome! Not over sweet with the flavors. I'd come here if I'm not looking for a specialty ice drink, but a classically made cappuccino/latte that's mildly sweet so you really taste the espresso. The ambience is very new modern, does have loud music playing and it feels more like a bar, than a restaurant and coffee spot. Which they do offer a good cocktail menu! Service was great as well. What an incredible experience. We came with family and lots of kids. Everyone was so happy. My nice ordered a rice bowl and I have never tasted such great quality rice. Coffee was wonderful, and everything was cooked so well. Then a young man came up and started singing and playing guitar. As a professional musician, I was amazed at how fantastic they were. This place is a whole vibe. Very unassuming from the outside but inside it's beautifully decorated. I was greeted immediately and wanted to place a to go order. It was quick to do and they had me sit at the bar to wait. Apparently Thursday is ladies happy hour and margaritas are absolutely delicious! They had live music. Everyone seemed to work like a well oiled machine and all the staff was so friendly. The food was exceptional. Cobb salad was so fresh! I also got an order of Birria tacos and cachapas pabellon. Only comment I would give is more cheese on the Birria tacos. Otherwise flavors were perfect and my soul was comforted which is what I needed. This is the second time I've been here. The food is good. Not amazing but good. Very expensive for what it is. But let me get to my real issue with this place. I didn't remember this the first time I went and didn't see it on the menu anywhere this time. I very well may have missed it but 18% gratuity is added to your check. My friend and I did not notice when the waitress came to show us our receipt on her handheld. Was very slick about not scrolling all the way down for us to see that. When the screen popped up for us to tip it was showing weird amounts like 5% 3%. She watched as we voiced our confusion and decided to custom tip 20%. Never once did she offer up that it was included already. So as nice as she was that really ruined it for me after we sat for a few minutes trying to figure out how 2 bowls and drink came to $90. When I asked for a paper receipt there it was. We didn't want to act up and she wasn't a bad waitress so we just let it slide but I won't be returning. That's really bad form from your wait staff. Pretty sure she knew we didn't realize it. 38% tip?? Not in this economy. Maybe let your customers know in a more obvious way than some fine print in a corner of a menu. read more

Recommend this place, they have various menu options with breakfast and lunch/dinner. They are very busy on Sundays but they definitely are very efficient and provide great service despite being so busy. A lot of families come for brunch/lunch on Sundays. The noise level average with great decor and they invested a lot in that. I had the Luka bites and the lentil soup, which were both great! The blue cheese dressing was nice, but when we asked for a second one, we were told they wouldn't. We should have been told they would, or that there would be a small additional charge. Then our other dish was the truffle omelette with mushrooms and cheese. Well crafted. It came with a delicious side salad and a small waffle. The waffle was forgettable. Lastly , service was spotty. Our coffee orders were taken, but the waiter didn't come back. A second waiter completed the order. Nearing the end of the meal, they attempted to clear a plate that my wife was still eating from. Also, be aware that a tip is included before they bring the bill. There was no mention of that, although the practice is becoming more common. Our experience at Luka was very pleasant! We were helped by Mauricio, who was super friendly and kind! We had been wanting to try the place for a while since we saw their ad on social media. We're Venezuelan, and the menu has something for everyone, but also a good number of dishes from our country. I ordered a classic cachapa (just with queso de mano, a little bit of cheese on top, and nata cream on the side) with chicharrón. I asked for the chicharrón on the side because I like to taste the cachapa on its own with just cheese. The cachapa was absolutely delicious! I could really taste the corn kernels, very natural! The chicharrón was lacking in crunchiness... the fatty part was a bit chewy. Maybe they could revisit how it's cooked? We also ordered some tequeños, which were really tasty, served with a garlic sauce! And I had a macchiato, which is basically like the Venezuelan cortadito, and it was delicious! Oh! They didn't charge me the full price for the cachapa with chicharrón. They charged me for the classic cachapa with just cheese, and they even offered me another coffee on the house. Great dinner and dessert! At our table, we ordered two grilled chickens with different side dishes. They had the black beans and rice and also avocado and french fries. All of it was great. I ordered the ceviche and it was so good that I felt badly that I could not finish it all. It was actually a very large order. We also had a side of plantains, which were very good, although I would've actually liked them a little bit crispier. That was my fault for not asking them to be cooked a little more. My wife ordered flan that they said came with ice cream We asked for the ice cream separate for me as she wanted only the flan. I have to tell you that the ice cream was so delicious and it came with two chocolate wafer cookies and a caramel sauce. We also ate outside and the server was very attentive, even though we were the only table outside. While the outside seating area is in the walkway where people can pass by you heading to other stores or restaurants, it is still a nice area to eat.
