(4/5) Let me start with this: The French Room is that girl. She's classy, dramatic, beautiful and a little high maintenance. The Food: The tea service is stellar. Everything comes out looking like a Pinterest board in real life. The finger sandwiches are fresh, the scones are warm and actually taste good (not dry and crumbly like some places), and the desserts? Dangerous. It feels indulgent in the best way. You leave full but still thinking about that one pastry you should've grabbed two of. The Vibe: The vibe is stunning. Grand ceilings, gorgeous décor, very "main character at tea in Europe" energy. It feels special the second you walk in. This is why we host our annual mother-daughter tea here, it's the kind of place that makes memories feel a little more magical. The Service: Once you're there, the service is great. Attentive, polished, and kind without being over the top. They make you feel taken care of. Why 4 Stars Instead of 5: Booking. The. Reservation. Why do I have to call like I'm trying to win concert tickets in 2003? You have to call... and call... and call again. I leave messages. No callback. So I just keep dialing until someone finally answers. For a place this elevated, the reservation process feels unnecessarily chaotic, especially when you're planning something special. Amazing breakfast! Service was phenomenal! They were very attentive and made my boys feel special and cared for. The star of the show was the espresso martini and the eggs Benedict. The eggs Benedict had Wagyu beef inside. The eggs Benedict was served differently than any way that I've had it before and I loved it. Everything was classy and delicious! We had a really nice time at the holiday tea. They are very well trained in keeping your service running smoothly to ensure you are done in almost exactly 2 hours. I am a vegetarian so I got a slightly altered menu from both the vegan menu and the regular menu, but each item was very tasty and I managed to be very full afterwards. It's really beautiful inside and was still decorated in January. The only issue we had was they charged one person in our parties card twice and mine not at all but we later figured it out and settled it amongst us. read more

Finally made it with some girl friends to the fabulous French Room! You feel so special as soon as you step in to the beautiful surroundings. Impeccable decor and ambience, attentive and thorough staff. The tea & savory course was perfect with a light tea flavor with perfectly delicious bites. Had a lovely afternoon tea here with a large party for my wife's birthday in September, 2025. Everything was excellent. The service was attentive and professional, and both the savory and sweet courses were fun and tasty. The kids even had their own menu. The hotel is a beautiful space with many photo opportunities. We came here for their Cherry Blossom tea and everything was so cute! The French Room is located in the Adolphus Hotel. There is valet parking and you have to mention that you're eating at the French Room when you park. The parking is $12 for the whole day. Everything is digital when you're parking so you text the number when you are ready to pick up your car. They park it in front of the hotel. The French Room is at the very corner of the hotel but the front desk can direct you to where it's located. The service was very good. They sat us very quickly and they offered champagne when we sat down. We had the three course Afternoon Tea. The first course was the savory course with sandwiches, the second course were the scones and the last course were the pastries. They even explained the different teas that came along with the courses. Overall, the food tasted very good, but for $75 per person you're going for the experience and service. read more

The review is for the French Room Bar (open until midnight). We stayed at the Adolphus Hotel so we went to the bar for a nightcap. Our bartender was amazing. The drinks were sophisticated and delicious. We very much enjoyed the drinks. The banana cake drink was served with a small slice of banana bread. We really loved the banana bread and asked if they sold it. The bartender told us they have a bakery downstairs that provides all the baked goods for the French Room and the cafe and gave us a complimentary slice. Amazing vibes. The atmosphere is intimate and romantic. A 20% tip is included in the bill but I gave extra because the service and drink/food were all amazing. 100% recommend. read more

I had such a lovely experience enjoying afternoon tea at The French Room! The ambience is absolutely beautiful -- elegant, calm, and perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Our server, Carlos, truly made the experience exceptional. He was incredibly knowledgeable and gave such an in-depth historical background on each of the teas we tried. You could tell he was passionate about what he does, and it made the whole tasting so much more special. High tea at The French Room had been on my list for years, so my girlfriend and I decided to celebrate Lunar New Year there. Parking is valet-only in the garage. It is $12 with no validation. Once inside, just take the escalator up and walk straight ahead. We were seated right away, being the first table there. Our server was quick and attentive, bringing out bubbly, sandwiches, and hot tea as soon as we got settled. We also ordered the caviar flight and smoked salmon mini platter. After the savory bites, we were served sweet pastries. The experience itself was fun, and our server was friendly and helpful. But the food and desserts? Underwhelming. The French Room used to be a beautiful part of my holiday season tradition. However, I have to share that when I first started attending in 2021 the experience was truly elegant and felt special. Also, the price was high, not outrageous. Now, the quality of food, decor and service has declined and the price has increased by about $30 per person (minimum) since I first attended in 2021. I love the excitement of going to afternoon tea at The French Room during the holidays, but I just don't feel the price now matches the experience. And, perhaps since I've been the last four years consistently, it's noticeable. I have seen other beautiful tea experiences pop up around Dallas in the last few years that rival The French Room in price, food and service. read more

Returned for Holiday Tea at The Adolphus this year was not impressed. I no longer recommend adding this to your holiday rotation. The service and ambiance was exactly how it's always been, an elegant experience that is exclusive to this tea room; but that is the only thing they seem to offer now. The quality of the food had definitely gone down, it almost seemed like everything we ate had been sitting out all day before being served. Some of the food I received did not even seem edible. The scones were bland and the bread on the sandwiches felt almost stale. Luckily, the tea and the ambiance were the best part - hence the two stars. read more

I was able to snag a reservation for the holiday tea (which goes quick for weekends). It was so lovely! The lobby is decorated beautifully for Christmas so dress up and take pics! I wasn't a fan of the pastel Christmas decor inside the restaurant. It was pretty just not my taste. The ambiance was perfect with a person there playing the harp. The service was impeccable. The tea offerings were very pleasing. Portions are small - if you've done high tea before then you know this. So I would not come on a completely empty stomach or be prepared to want a little bite of something else afterwards. read more

We were on our way out to dinner, but we decided to stop at our hotels bar called the French room bar.. It's very dark, very mysterious, very sexy, very old world .. It's adjacent to the fancy room restaurant. So gorgeous light and bright and full of windows.. opposite of the bar. (you can just tell that back in the 20s and 30s, men would gather there and smoke their cigars and have their whiskeys) We decided to have one of their specialty cocktails called, save the bees it was gin based, and it was delicious. we decided to take it out to the main lobby where the beautiful fireplaces are we sat. There are moments in my life that I remember especially traveling the world as a Flight Attendant. So serving and service are what I always notice. Today we had the pleasure of being served with the utmost care and class by a beautiful Woman; Connie ! This lovely sweet soul took care of us like we were in her own home! She shared the entire Service and all the wonderful details along with great suggestions! We loved everything! I actually had my very first expresso Martini and it was wonderful! The sandwiches were amazing, scones were so delicious. The dessert pastries so delicate and tasty! The ambience is incredible, with music from a harp , long with a decor that takes you back in time ! Decorated for the holidays it was exquisite! We will return and we will be requesting Connie! I can see why she has stayed 39 years she loves her job and it shows!! My husband and I went to the French room bar for a nice dinner and we're very disappointed with our service. To start the meal our drink order was forgotten and after waiting over 20 minutes we received it. When we ordered our food we ordered a starter and our entrees. I ordered the steak frites and was notified that the frites were out that night and that I could sub another side (not a big deal). When our entrees arrived we had still not received our starter. Nor did we get any cutlery to use to cut our steaks. We finally received our starter AFTER finishing our entrees. And then to top everything off when we received our check not only was a 20% tip already added on, but we received an upcharge for the alternate side added onto my meal when the side that was intended to pair with the meal was out of stock. I hosted a brunch for my daughter & her bridesmaids at The French Room located inside of The Adolphus. The Adolphus is old world beautiful. The French Room is also stunning. The staff was attentive to our needs throughout the brunch. The cider was bubbly & delicious. We were served 2 types of teas: the Green Tea was clean & smooth; the Indian Black Tea was mellow w/a hint of sweetness. There were tiers of finger sandwiches, blueberry/lemon scones & other delicate & delicious pastries. Needless to say, we had a great time.
