Wayne's house burned completely down and the kitchen and restaurant in the shopping center in Superior, just south of Boulder, was severely damaged. It took them well over a year to rebuild and reopen. We decided this past Labor Day Weekend, to supply our own meals with their BBQ, sides and dessert. Since reopening, they have maintained a very short week to be open because of many time and financial constraints. They still open at 11am and serve until about 2pm or until the majority of the prepared food is gone. They also work all of the hours from before dawn every day to smoke and cook all of the meats, sides and desserts, fresh each day. The schedule is just to be open, Friday and Saturday, leaving them some quality of family life, the rest of the week. In the very early years Wayne was there himself, doing almost all the smoking, cook prep, and lunch every day with a very small staff. That became unsustainable when the place built such a huge following and he hired a lot of staff that needed training. He had learned these recipes and techniques growing up near Austin TX, so this is classic Texas BBQ. In fact, the original form of the famous peach cobbler dessert was his own mother's recipe. It has been altered a little over the years to make serving in such volume better and this very latest version is the best yet. Every serving is the same balance of dough, peaches and cinnamon topping. It is generous and has wonderful flavor and texture and served warm. At home we usually reheat it if we don't finish it all the first day. But it is still good, cold too. If we drive so far and wait in line to get in, we always buy enough for a few meals. It's absolutely worth it. The higher price than the mass producers is worth very penny. It's really homemade with quality ingredients. In the past, I almost always got the brisket, always chose the lean end (yes you get a choice and the side is still warm from the cooker/smoker in front of you. All of the meats are purchased by weight as you would in a butcher shop. My husband almost always has the ribs. We were the first in on Saturday, as we arrived 30 minutes before opening and the line formed behind us with quite a group ready for the doors to open. Since we had first pick and when we saw the first rack of ribs opened, we just bought the whole thing. We also bought a selections of sides and as I had not been here in so lone, I bought way too much. We did not need the mashed potatoes so we only ate about 1/3 of it. But we ate absolutely everything else, the BBQ beans, the Cole slaw, the green chile mac and cheese, the peach cobbler. We always get the original BBQ sauce that they make but there is also a house spicy and a house mustard too. They do charge for the sauces these days and if you plan to use a lot, buy the bigger tub. But the meat is so flavorful, just one or 2 of the tiny size would have been enough. They started making these tiny containers for each customer during the pandemic when they had to give up the communal bottles on the table and this system seem nice and fresh to me. I don't mind paying and they buy and hand fill these serving size cups which I appreciate. I have heard some other people do not. But it's very inexpensive. We enjoyed every morsel of the meals. It's my favorite mac and cheese around, the ribs were still hot, tender, crispy, and with buying the whole rack, we got the entirety of both burnt ends, which I love too. It's really worth the effort to do this, but once a summer is probably our limit. I plan not to miss any more years, though. They do still have tables inside which are used heavily during a normal work week for the crowds they get from nearby businesses. But honestly, I think most of their customers are there to take home a full shopping bag to serve at home for family and friends, for no stress events without cooking yourself.

It tasted great! Can't tell you what tasted the best because everyone thought something else was the best! Rib meat fell off bone; the baked beans had a flavor all its own; the Mac and cheese was devoured in minutes and even the apple slaw was eaten by everyone. If you like BBQ give this place a go. We certainly will be going back again (and again and again).

I was a little bitter about a bad experience I had at Lulu's a while back, but I'm over it now. After paying Lulu's another visit recently and having a very good experience, I wanted to amend this review. First of all, great service on this trip. Our server was attentive but didn't hover and was very friendly. The food definitely hit the spot as it normally does. As usual, I got the Texas Slush which was actually one of the betters ones I've had here. Sometimes it's a little too slushy but this one had the right balance. Brisket Nachos...oh boy. Those are so good and I definitely have to restrain myself from ordering them every single time because I can not stop eating them. While I've tried most things on the menu, the Spicy Pulled Chicken sandwich is my go-to fave. It's not super spicy, but I like to give it a good drenching with their Hot BBQ sauce to kick it up a notch. Everything was really tasty and the service was great, so I thought it only fair to update my review accordingly. read more

I've been here a few times now, mostly with friends who are leading the way and next time I'll likely suggest otherwise. The staff is always pleasant but it seems that it's more of a turn and burn atmosphere which I can certainly understand with them being in the heart of Louisville with so much foot traffic. My favorite part is the back patio especially in the evening to enjoy a beer. The food is lackluster in my opinion. The best thing on their menu are the bbq sandwiches which aren't half bad, but it seems more and more BBQ food trucks are popping up that are brining better flavor to the table. I've tasted through almost all of the sides and the fried offerings seem to be by far the best. I can definitely see myself going back for a beer which they tend to have a good selection of and perhaps catching half of a game, but for food I think I'll look elsewhere. read more

They ran out of burnt ends when we got there :( Ordered the sampler platter for $21 which came with 3 meats and 2 sides. I wasn't expecting much for $21 but what I got was amazing. We chose brisket, ribs, and sausage with cornbread and sweet potato tots on the side. There were four slices of brisket, two sausages, and a quarter rack of ribs. The brisket was tender, I loved the fatty goodness of the sausage and the ribs were fall off the bone, finger licking good. The cornbread and sweet potato tots were added value to the meal. Definitely get the PPO (Peppers, pickles and onions) on the side for some added crunch to your meal. We got BBQ to go so can't comment on the service here. 10/10 would go back. read more

Great location, terrible service, even worse food. Just moved to the area and was excited to try lulus looked fun w decent reviews. I don't know what u people are smoking it's definitely not brisket.Not sure how this place has survived, my guess is the bar rev keeps them afloat because they obviously can't BBQ. That must be the plan here get people wasted enough and they will eat just about anything. Hope you like a lot of sauce because their meat is to dry to eat w out it. Lucky for lulus there aren't a lot of options in dt Louisville. Hopefully they get the Cuban place next door up and running soon. read more

This was some really great BBQ! I've eaten so much bad BBQ I usually just make my own these days but I was visiting my brother who lives in Louisville and he vouched for this place. As it turned out, they served me the best smoked turkey I've ever had, and that includes the stuff I've had at famous places in TX/ I also really loved the rib tips. Their take on that was super tasty. The service was great and the only gripe I have is that I wish there'd been a bit more on my platter for the price. read more

Lulu's is one of my favorite places, especially when in the mood for tasty BBQ. Sliced beef, sausage and burnt ends are great choices. The side dishes (potato salad, beans, sweet potato tots, okra and mac & cheese) make the meal even more delightful! They also have a great Happy Hour menu with drink specials. I must not forget the warm and friendly staff that are happy to answer questions and make sure your drinks stay full. Someday, I will try to leave enough room for dessert! read more

Great atmosphere however, the food came out mysteriously too quick... had way too much vinegar for anyone's own good. The hot mess sandwich was like eating sloppy Joe with too much hot sauce. This place has some solid food, a good beer menu with plenty of cocktails and liquor shots to choose from. I'm admittedly not big on the down-home southern/TX style cooking but I do enjoy a good smoked chicken wing as well as some macaroni and mashed potatoes. All of which they did with good efficacy. Their Beef brisket is to die for. We ordered 20 pounds of it for a party last year and everyone raved at how good it was. If you can go here on a friday and get their special which is a smoked prime rib. You can only get the smoked prime rib on Friday's but it's definitely worth it read more

Lulus is by far the best bbq in this area. If you are a transplant, like me, from an area that's heavy in bbq you'll already know there's not much around here. Lulus could compete with any smokeshack around. Highly recommend the ribs. read more
