Went in for a lunch. Sunday afternoon .. nobody in sight. Sat down fast. Small bar so it wasn't so fully knowledged and versed on mix drinks. But ordereda simple bloody Mary and had thier Rub Chicken Wings smoked and they where good. Also had the half rack ribs with Mac n cheese And coleslaw. Not to bad. Really good BBQ, my favorite BBQ place in Colorado. I usually get the brisket dinner while my wife get the pulled pork dinner. We both like jalapeno relish that accompanies the dinner and sets it apart from most BBQ places, along with the great food of course. We came here during a weekday for lunch based on the good yelp reviews. We were seated right away on the nice patio by friendly staff. We started out with the smoked chicken wings appetizer which was meaty and very good. The fried okra was very delicious too. So after a great start, I was pretty disappointed to get my BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Right off, I noticed it was pretty dry and lacked flavor. I usually don't add sauce to my BBQ foods, but I did on this occasion. I ended up just eating the meat alone since the dry bun didn't help. However, the only reason I'm writing this review is that whatever they put on the pulled pork made my lips and mouth tingly from saltiness! Ever since I got home I've been drinking cold water constantly. I couldn't even eat dinner. I assume it's the pork since the other food items I had were shared. Thank goodness I only ate half the sandwich or I may have pruned up! read more

Fried pickles are of a solid construction; the bread does not shluff off like battered varieties. Brisket nachos are a definite recommendation of you have room for an appetizer. Potato salad had a little dill flavor, but is otherwise bland and has egg in it. Brisket is excellent, if a little on the firm side. Pulled pork is great. Ribs are good, but the rub is a little bland and needs a lot more salt--if you like them wet though that doesn't really matter, as the sauce makes up for it. Only three sauces to choose from--hot, mild, and a "Carolina" mustard sauce (which should obviously be relabeled "South Carolina" mustard sauce, as Tar Heels don't hold truck with mustard sauces)--all good, but I expect more variety from a dedicated bbq restaurant. read more

The ribs were amazing! I have been searching for some good ribs for a while and am quite happy to have finally found this place. The best part is that they even serve spicy ribs, which are rare back in California, my previous location. The brisket was even pretty good. The meat fell apart as we ate it. We were in Louisville visiting our daughter in Boulder. We are from St. Louis. We read a review about Lulu's and decided to check it out......Old Town Louisville is very quaint, and Lulu's was a real treat! The bar- b q-ue is excellent! I've been back to LuLu's a couple of times since my first review and it just keeps getting better and better. First off I love their Lazy H BBQ Sauce. It is the best I've ever had. When I first went there they only had Lazy H Original (Mild) and it was good but now they have Lazy H Hot and Hotter which are perfect to pump up the heat. I had a daily special last week that was a BBQ Brisket Sloppy Joe and it was stellar. This place rocks. Don't forget to ask about their daily specials as they are always different. read more

Just visited lulu's today and it was great. I had the ribs, sweet potato tots, corn bread and fried okra. Everything was delicious! This was worth the drive from Boulder. I am fat and happy. We've been here several times. After the initial meal, which was delicious but hindered by slow service during their Grand Opening, we have had really good food and service here without disappointment. The atmosphere is fun and it's a great place to lay low and enjoy. Nice selection of beer - we always try something different. The kids love the Mac N Cheese. I love the brisket and pork. They have a pickle relish which is zippy and adds character and uniqueness to the BBQ. Very flavorful all the way around. Can't wait to try some other entrees like the salmon. May 2012 Went to LuLu's as a last minute choice and were very happy we did! For our family of four, we got 2 samplers for 2. This is the best BBQ I've had in Colorado. 4 star overall, 5 star for CO. These guys know what's up. #1 The brisket is smoked very well, falls apart nicely, and has a great beef/smoke flavor. Was surprised to find such quality brisket, frankly. Rub could'a been stylin' some more, but that TEX for ya. #2 Ribs were the way they should be - not mush, smoked just right, tender and pulled right off the bone. Decent rub, not the best. #3 Pulled pork was good, not great. Needed more flavor in the meat. Wasn't mega juicy. #4 Sauces were solid. #5 The space is very cool and comfortable to hang out in. Loved the backyard with corn-hole, the outdoor bar seating, the beer selection was awesome... just really enjoyed the vibe they have going. Really impressed with this joint. I love eating meat and figures I had to try this place. 1st time here I asked the waiter about an IPA I was not familiar with. He let me knwo where it was brewed, etc. After the lunch, which was ok, he asked about the beer to which I explained it was the most un-IPA I had tried to which he replied "yeah, we hear that a lot" !? Maybe I'm crazy but I would have expected that to be mentioned when I ordered it. 2nd time here, I ordered a known IPA and some brisket. Food is good but nothing special. I've been to Lulu's twice and it is hands down my favorite BBQ place. The menu has a variety of options, although I usually end up getting chicken or brisket. I'm a big fan of Texas style BBQ, which tends to be spicy rather than sweet, and Lulu's doesn't disappoint. While I haven't tried their vegetarian options, friends I've dined with say they are quite good. They also serve a spicy side relish that I cannot get enough of, and they have a nice selection of beers to wash everything down. There is usually a wait, so be prepared. read more

First let's get this out of the way; their BBQ is excellent. Their beer/booze selection is excellent and the place/location/patio is outstanding. But here's why these guys rock.... About a month ago I made arrangements to rent the back area of LuLu's in order to throw a little wedding party along with 30 or so of my friends; this happened last Sunday. Unfortunately about 1 week prior, LuLu's needed to close for a couple of days in order to complete some minor renovations. I'm no 'insider' but it sounds like the city did not make it easy - helping to turn a 2 day project into a week long project. I can only imagine the stress on the owners and employees at being closed for an entire week. Even worse, the weekend they were closed was one where Taste of Louisville and the Sonic Boom bike race brought more than the usual amount of foot traffic to downtown. Regardless of the situation, Kevin and team came through for us like rock stars. Even through they were still closed, as agreed, they setup the back patio for our party, had a bartender manning the bar (and an excellent one at that) and through some sort of miracle (or perhaps a portable BBQ trailer), served up all the amazing BBQ, sides and cornbread we could ever want. Better still (for us), because it ended up pouring for the duration of the event, we were able to move everything inside so everybody could be dry, warm, full and a little buzzed (some more than others). read more
