Discovered this little cafe with my mother on our morning bike ride. The bakery is phenomenal. They make artisan breads and pastries. The chocolate croissant is a must have, but do get there before 10 am to get yours, they go fast! The cheese quiche makes you want to go back for more as well. Unfortunately, the coffee was a bit of a disappointment. My cappuccino was so light in weight (all foam, no coffee) when I picked it up, I almost tossed it out of my hand. read more

It has a nice environment but the people who work there are not the friendliest some are quite rud. I love the sourdough bread there and their sandwiches are good but they don't have anything special to drink for example no ice coffees or teas which is a big bummer!!!! read more

This wasn't the worst place I've been in, the coffee was okay, the chocolate chip cookie was light on chocolate and the carrot cake was just okay. What irked me was that this coffee shop plus bakery had no wifi. Seems to me that coffee shops is where wifi got it impetus. BTW, the breads on display looked really good. read more

Okay, I am not a frou frou kind of person. I don't mind when baked goods look a little messy and i'm usually understanding when an employee has a bad day, but I had the weirdest experience at Lulu's today and I will never come back. I ordered some key lime pie and was patiently standing by the counter, looking at the sandwich making while I was waiting. So the employee was touching meat, cheese and putting condiments in sandwiches with her gloves, served up the order, and then took the key lime pie out of the tin with her hands, and handled it on the plate with the same gloves that she used to touch sandwich meat, condiments and cheese. I couldn't believe that that just happened. I am a vegetarian, but honestly thats not even the problem, that is just not sanitary. I stood there in shock, I mean it makes me sick to think about it. I asked her why she hadn't changed her gloves and she said that would be a waste of gloves. Okay, theres environmentally conscious, but why not use a cake server to put it on the plate or using a different employee to get the baked goods? I mean...That is basic food services. I didn't even really want to eat it afterwords. But I don't waste food, so I did end up eating it. and it was good for a keylime pie, but honestly. They will never have my business again. That is gross. I can't believe that that even happened. Heres a tip, if you order pie or sweets, ask them to change their gloves. read more

I loved Lulu's when they opened, but recently they changed. Their sandwiches were always full of meat and other goodies, last couple times I got a teaspoon of tuna or one thin layer of turkey. They went from really good to super sucky! YEAH SUCKY! Their coffee is always burnt! Not going there anymore!!! read more

Lu Lu's offers a nice assortment of fresh bagel sandwiches and quiches. The quiche was perfect! The lox bagel sandwich was also quite good, the capers gave just right kick at lunch. The only downfall is that it can be quite busy at lunch time and seating is limited, so it's not the best place to hang out and read a book or mingle with friends for an extended period of time. read more

I loved to eat here, but they seem to have lost their experienced staff and taken turn for the worse. My orders are often messed up and the quality of the food preparation has declined. Better to give them a miss. Hopefully they can get back their experienced staff of spend some time with the new staff to return to their former glory. read more

When I'm in the mood for a good breakfast sandwich bagel and coffee I go to Lu Lu's. Oddly they are closed on Mondays... I was always get good espresso at Lu Lu's, constantly good lattes. My favorite is the Kaladi latte. Some reviewers don't seem to enjoy the coffee, but I get coffee through out the year at Lu Lu's and barely ever get bad coffee. Several of my friends and I believe that this is the best place to get espresso in Fairbanks. The breakfast sandwich bagels are good. They put the sausage or bacon in the center of the egg, and the sandwiches are big. Our friend from New York loved the place. He eat breakfast there almost everyday while he was visiting. The bagels look and taste home-made. I'm not a fan of the bread and the other sandwiches they make though. The sandwiches are plain and expensive. The bread, in my opinion, not good. The customer service is good and usually not to busy in the mornings or at lunch. Lu Lu's location is sort of out of the way for many people which is why I think they are less busy. Though I don't even try going there on Saturday or Sunday mornings, they are always way to busy. They have lots of bottled drinks, there are ice teas, calypso lemonades, and other drinks. read more

if you're looking for a delicious cup of coffee look no further. after surviving a countless number of all-nighters in college i came to really appreciate a delicious cup of coffee. They serve Kaladi Brothers, which i love. i sorda miss the old location, but the new one is growing on me. the sea salt bagel with tuna is delish. the employees are hit or miss (like anywhere else really...) but usually their service is pretty on point! Occasionally when i have the time I'll drive out of my way to grab a coffee here rather than closer to home. read more

Fairbanks needs a decent bakery, and lulu's just isn't it. We got a quiche, sticky bun and bagel. The quiche was warmed up in the microwave, making it rubbery and the crust soggy. The bagel seemed more like a roll, not dense and chewy like a bagel should be. The sticky bun was really dry and breadlike, didn't even finish it. The staff were friendly and got our order right. What really killed me was the lack of wifi. What kind of bakery/ coffee shop doesn't have wifi in 2014? read more

Have been there twice and the bagels are good if the girls working there can get your order correct. When I told them they got my entire order wrong, rather rudely the cashier corrected me and told me...I was wrong. Ok... zero stars for service, but 3 for the bagels. By all means don't pass this place up, just spell out your order as if your speaking to a kindergarten and make them print you a receipt. read more

No service. I buy "homemade" bread regularly at other places so I decided to try Lulu's. Went today and stood at the counter and watched the 2 young women working behind the counter. Neither ever acknowledged us. We waited and one girl came out from behind walking right past us within 2 feet and started cleaning empty tables without acknowledging our presence. She was right behind us as we stood at the counter. I turned around and stood there watching her and she wiped the tables. Both girls pretended to not see us standing there. We finally just left. That is a lot of business in loafs of bread that they missed out on since they are the most convenient location for me to shop. Naturally, I won't be back. read more

The place is expensive. The service in general is good. I only gave it 3 starts because I just payed $3 for a Cranberry-chocolate roll that is hard like a rock and even after chewing it for ever I concluded that the taste wasn't worth the effort. Their Lemon-Blueberry muffins are great...but it seems like they never have them anymore...Considering the meager options in Fairbanks I would still recommend the place. read more

I thought the coffee here was really good (I had macchiato). I met a friend for lunch and we both had a lox and bagel sandwich. The perfectly toasted asiago bagel was finished with the right amount of cream cheese and some of the nicest lox ever. I agree with the other reviewer who said they should offer wifi, and they could make the atmosphere a little cozier, but I feel like the food and drink deserves a solid rating. This is the first time I've ever Yelped anything, but, I feel so frustrated with LuLu's that I'm actually Yelping. Go figure. So, Lulu's used to be awesome. In the past six months they have SERIOUSLY gone down hill in terms of being able to get any orders correct. Sadly, I'm pleasantly shocked if I order a bagel and I actually receive it without any problems. Frequent mistakes include: not toasting the bagel when you say you want it toasted, putting red onions on the bagel when you specify no red onions, and a microscopic layer of hummus for the "hummus bagel". Furthermore, it's way over priced. I just bought a coffee, bagel and loaf of bread for $17. More employee training is needed and a serious price reduction. Sorry Lulu's to give you a bad review - I used to love coming to Lulu's for a treat but now it is way too frustrating to come here because having my order messed up 9/10 times and paying too much for the messed up order puts me in an extremely grumpy mood.
