The turkish eggs were really good but they were a touch too runny for me personally (whites slightly runny) but the labneh and spices on top was delicious. The baklava french toast is definitely a desert , I shared it with my family! I wouldn't recommend ordering that as a main though. We've been meaning to come to Lulu for brunch but we never planned early enough to make a reservation. With the new Solano location, the space is large, spacious, light and airy - and we were able to get a 9:30am reservation the morning of!! We were the first ones there when they opened and with a baby in a stroller, that helped so we can be at a table with space for her too. We ordered a latte and a rose burlee cappuccino for our drinks. The cappuccino was so unique! A little sweeter than what we usually go for but definitely worth a try. It was very filling even without ordering any meat. I recommend the Strawberry Rose Matcha Latte to drink. The dishes were yummy , yet healthy and clean. I began with a spiced date latte (!!) ... it was so effing good I downed it before I could take a picture!! First: they never post a menu. Ever. That's the point. It's a culinary choose-your-own-adventure with a seasonal heartbeat -- no spoilers, no repeats, just trust the kitchen and surrender. My friend and I (two lifelong GenX brunch warriors) shared a lineup so glorious it might have been blessed by an olive-oil-soaked angel: Dukkah eggs with a perfect golden ooze, rosemary-urfa aioli, and a crunchy, nutty dukkah sprinkle that practically sang. Lamb kefta meatballs perched on herbed lemon yogurt, crowned with olives and pickled peppers, ready for their close-up. Lemon orange blossom spritz, an entire Mediterranean spa day in a glass, though it arrived a little too fashionably late -- I was nearly finished eating before it showed up. (Fix that, please, Lulu. We brunchers have standards.) And then there was Baba's Breakfast -- scrambled eggs fluffy enough to float, labneh whipped into tangy clouds, crisp harissa tots, fresh pita, pickled veg, fuul mudamas, and that bold lamb sausage. This is what happens when a Palestinian breakfast goes to art school. It's vibrant, abundant, and made for sharing. Why do I support a place like this? I've been to Lulu a few times at their spot in Albany. The space is very attractive and bright, and while there isn't much room for a waiting area we were able to be seated quickly with our reservation. We had the opportunity to try a variety of their dishes. Their mezze sampler was a great way for us to try some items without committing to the mezze itself. The items were overall solid, with decent flavor. We were fans of the Baba's Breakfast plate as well. Both items were solid choices to try a few key items from their menu. The fish and chips were overpriced in my opinion. I've had many better options for fish and chips, with many at cheaper pricing and better portion size as well. Their sweets were definite items to go for as well. We quite enjoyed their Knafeh pancake and their baklava french toast looked amazing as well. We found that Lulu's portion size was on the smaller side, especially given the price for many of their items. What a cute place. Fun and colorful menu, wonderful staff, and truly beautiful. Originally, I wanted to do the mezze, which is $35 per person and the whole table has to participate. But I wanted warm food and the mezze is mostly cold food and dips, except for eggs. I ordered the baba breakfast which comes with eggs, lamb sausage, labne, pita, pickles, lentils and crispy potato cubes. I was beautiful but disappointing. I didn't even finish the eggs and for $29, I would have wanted to. But I feel the taste range of the plate was kind of dull. The harissa "tater tots" were too soft inside and lacked what I assumed would have been the bright spicy kick of their name. The lentils were also bland, surprisingly so. The scrambled eggs were a cooked a little two long. The best part of the dish for me was the pita--which was thick and fluffy and stayed warm for way longer than made sense--and the labne. But it was such a small portion of labne. The dish felt like it was missing something with some prominent salt, like a cheese, and more punch in the items labeled "spicy". My friend had their version of shakshuka with a dukah rim and Parmesan cheese and that was so good. I found myself duping my pita in her sauce in search of something a little more exciting than my bland plate. I had the date latte, which was tiny but flavorful (except for the grainy deposit at the very bottom). Would I come back? Well I want to try the mezze, so yes. Will it be sparkly or bland? The Mezze Platter was a nice sampling of dips and small bites including hummus, muhammara, labneh, and four mini falafels with "fancy sauce," along with pita chips and crudite for dipping. The Fresh Khubs plate came with fluffy, warm pita bread and ka'ak sim sim (soft sesame bread), along with za'atar in olive oil for dipping. The Summer Fatoush was a salad made of romaine, chicories, fennel, sungold tomatoes, cucumber, feta, pita chips, and a Meyer lemon & sumac dressing--a refreshingly crunchy, tangy, salty dish! The Shukaquiles was a Middle Eastern take on chilaquiles, made of pita chips cooked in harissa-tomato sauce, topped with scrambled eggs, feta, a creamy orange fancy sauce, and spicy zhough. The eggs and sauce made for a flavorful combination, but the pita chips turned out a bit soggy. A final highlight dish was the Turkish Eggs, which were sunny-side-up eggs served over a moat of labneh, topped with chili crisp, nigella seeds, Aleppo pepper, and herbs, creating a dip-like dish that went nicely with the fluffy pita bread. Overall, the food here was incredible and delicious, and the service was on point too! New restaurant in town! Surprised and excited to try this women owned and operated Palestinian restaurant. The restaurant lobby was so welcoming. The colors of paint, wallpaper, furniture were selected with care and have beautiful color accents. It was a very open dining area yet felt homey. The menu has some interesting options. We had the sliders, mezze sampler, harissa tots, and a dessert sampler that was amazing!! All the food was an epicurean delight with Palestinian regional foods I had not been exposed to before. The sliders were really fun, with halloume cheese, falafel and fried chicken, but the mezze sampler was gorgeous and fun to eat. There was so much happiness on that platter. It welcomed you to test your taste buds on dried fruit, nuts, hummus... wow! Service: 5/5 Our server Lauralee came quickly and was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu with great recommendations and intimate knowledge about how the food is prepared and cooked. Drinks: 5/5 Our party ordered off of the cofee menu, getting the spiced date latte (at Lauralee's recommendation) and a strawberry matcha latte (photo included). The strawberry matcha was the best I've had, I was skeptical about getting a somewhat common drink given the unique flavores at offer. But this drink did not dissapoint, their cream was very thick and the strawberry flavor was nice and strong. The spiced date latte was spiced and sweet. Friend of a friend recommended this place so my friend and I stopped by for brunch over the weekend with a reservation. The decor of the entire restaurant is vibrant, modern, and there are many details that give a nod to Middle Eastern art. There is a small card for drinks and desserts menu that I missed while we were figuring out what we wanted to try, so don't forget to peep that. What we got: Lulu deviled eggs (3/5) -- eggs were cooked fine and the texture of the filling was smooth and creamy, but I had trouble enjoying this because it was so sour. All I got from each bite was sour Baklava french toast (5/5) -- crispy filo dough that was able to withstand the super sticky, sweet syrup they pour over the dish. The filling was well spiced and nutty, the cream that comes on top is light but didn't really add anything for me Branzino mekliyeh (2/5) -- Fish was cooked well, but the filling and the potato salad were both too sour/acidic again for me to enjoy. The potatoes weren't very crispy either and the filling combined with the fish were quite dry. Definitely not worth the price for my experience Baba's breakfast (4/5) -- this was my friend's opinion, not mine A bit overpriced for the portions and the flavors, but good to try once. Every item we ordered had us raving about flavor, presentation, and balance. But I'd first like to point out how accommodating and welcoming the staff were to us as a walk in on a busy Sunday, we felt very welcome and looked after and that is something not always found in the often stressed restaurant business. We appreciated everyone there. What we ordered: Shukaquiles and baklava French toast were both wonderful items to try on a first trip here. The pita was perfectly crisp , not soggy or too hard, the sauce was gently spicy but just enough for flavor, the greens on top added a contrast and flavors that were delicate and intriguing. The egg was scrambled perfectly (if possible I'd ask for over easy eggs next time but these were very good as they came) and the French toast was great to share, sweet but not overwhelmingly so, texture was perfect. Reminds me of the power of design. Beyond that, the food is top notch. This place has been on my list of places to try for a very long time! I came here on Friday morning around 10:00am with my boyfriend. We were seated right away but the server did inform us that they strongly recommend getting a reservation beforehand if you want to come here on the weekend. We ordered the mezze sampler, Knafe pancake, and Lulu deviled eggs, and a rose latte. The presentation of the food was beautiful! Definitely Instagram worth! The best thing we ate was the knafe pancake! It had a crisp and crunchy exterior and then inside was soft and fluffy. The pistachios on top added a nice crunch and the pancake was not too sweet. I was a bit disappointed with the mezze sampler because the mini falafels were dry and hard. The pita chips were a perfect compliment to the hummus. The deviled eggs were pretty good as well and I absolutely loved the presentation! Overall, I think that this is a good place to check out and I would come back to try their other things on their menu. I'm so happy Lulu is back. I've been to the old location on Camellia Street multiple times and always loved the mezze brunch....and I still do at the Solano location! The mezze brunch is a lovely assortment of homemade breads, pita and pita chips alongside a number of delicious dips and falafel. The mezze brunch isn't listed on the menu, but it was available when I dined there a week after their opening....and it looks as though they will be offering it every day (as opposed to just Fri - Sun). The mezze brunch is one of my favorite things on earth to eat. My husband was worried that we wouldn't have enough food so we also each got a fried chicken slider; in my opinion, it was too much food and unnecessary. The mezze brunch is appropriately sized for the number of people at your table. They always have a lovely and interesting assortment of teas and coffees which are a delight to try. The interior design is so different from the previous business - it's bright, airy, sophisticated...and also casual. I can't say enough good things about Lulu - it's my absolute favorite. read more

The restaurant was steady and almost full when we got there around 11:00. Our service was friendly and attentive. The indoor decor was beautiful and traditional yet modern. We started off with a date latte and a cacao cardamom latte (both were good but a little pricey - but you can tell they make it fresh). Had a very nice Mother's Day lunch at Lulu. We had wanted to try it for years, but had difficulty getting a reservation before. The new space appears to encompass three storefronts, so the restaurant is much larger, but doesn't feel cavernous. There were things we wanted to try that weren't on the Mezze menu, so we decided to ala carte. Our part of four ordered six dishes, several of which were "side dishes" and the others more like entrees. The mezze sampler was perfect for our part of four, although I didn't care for the pita chips. The rest of the items were very good, including the were 4 mini-falafels. The Warm Kitfo Nayyeh was an interesting dish; it was well-seasoned, but the texture was a little strange to me (and I like traditional steak tartare). We also had an order of the Toum Fries (a generous serving) and the Fresh Khubz (3 breads perfect for dipping in all the sauces) . We shared 3 "entrees." The Baba's Breakfast was fun, although several of the items were spicy (which I unfortunately can't eat). It was both a "traditional" breakfast and some new tastes for us. The Chicken Kebab featured perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken thigh cubes, and I enjoyed the risotto. The surprise "hit" was the Baklava French Toast, which was like bread cubes surrounded by phyllo dough and flavored like a traditional Baklava - not too sweet, not too heavy. A perfect "dessert." Overall, it was a delightful meal - different tastes and textures, quality ingredients, generous serving sizes. It's an elegant-but fun, light-filled space, and the service was excellent. Something I wanted to point out was the bad service we got here. The hostess who greeted us was really friendly and a wonderful person. The server was friendly at first but then had a 360 degree change in attitude after a while-- possibly had some miscommunication with other staff at the restaurant. I only wish there was more of the muhammara + hummus (relative to the pita chips and crudite). - Spring fattoush - Nice light salad if you're looking to add some vegetables to your meal (not a must get). - Mansat roti roll - This was very good, loved all the flavors wrapped by the delicious roti. - Chicken banh mi - They had this as a special for their anniversary, and it was solid (I liked the sesame bread). - Shukaquiles - This was a huge hit, great contrast of flavors + textures (especially how the pita absorbed the sauce). - Baba's breakfast - This was fine, my friends really liked the scrambled eggs (had a bit of kick to it), and I was a fan of the harissa tots, but otherwise one of the less exciting dishes. - Knafeh pancake - Usually I'm the one who finds things too sweet, but surprisingly, I didn't mind the sweetness while some of my friends did. I really the pancake, especially the rose flavor. We've loved Lulu's since 2021 when we first visited the Berkeley location. Today we tried the new format - Lulu's Little Kitchen which has only been open for a week or so. We ordered takeout since dining out with a little kid and an infant isn't as fun as eating in the comfort of our home. My husband is vegan and got the Falafel Roti and couldn't stop raving about it. He's a tough critic and was utterly pleased. I got the Lamb Bowl and it was divine - so flavorful and perfectly cooked lamb. My 8 month old hasn't really enjoyed solid food until I gave her some of my dish tonight. She devoured the tomato and sweet potatoes. Our kid got the kids menu chicken tenders and said "wow, this chicken is SO good" multiple times (he has never talked about chicken like that EVER). It's clear that a lot of thought and care went into the dishes and that they use very fresh ingredients. The new location is on Solano, so there is street parking and reservations can be made on their website. They welcomed me in and were quick to sit me down at a table. The decor was so gorgeous everything from the place settings to the pomegranate and fig print wallpaper. Service was welcoming and quick - they were very attuned to our needs and even helped fix one of our wobbly tables. Drinks were very refreshing - I got the iced mint black tea - just a note that it is unsweetened! For food presentation was lovely. My partner and I go to Lulu enough for the hostess to recognize and greet us, but we also always order the mezze brunch and are apparently among the few customers who eat everything, haha. I love how the menu changes regularly so it is a new experience each time. The presentation is wonderful but obviously the taste is too for us to go back as frequently as we do. We've tried other items on the menu and really liked the fish and chips from last year. That hasn't been available for a while though, but hopefully it'll be brought back. Other highlights have been the Japanese sweet potato and strawberries & cream, both of which were available on the mezze brunch platter but I think as standalone appetizers too. Their hummus and falafel are some of the best we've ever had, and their speciality drinks are also fantastic. I absolutely love Lulu's aesthetic and the interior is so frickin' pretty, but it can get really noisy in the main dining parts when they're full. We sat for the first time in the main entrance area today and definitely liked it more there with more space and fewer echoing voices. Besides the strawberries & cream, we haven't liked many of their desserts either, but we're happy to keep Lulu in our rotation of regularly visited restaurants. read more
