My husband's co worker used to bring a couple slices of LuLu's pizza to him at work after he was up at Bogus. My husband always said that the pizza he got was always good. It's my husband's birthday week so it was only right to bring him in for a fresh pie. We did come in at the right time. We had beat the rush! I did check out the menu online so I knew what I wanted. My husband is pretty predictable so it was an easy order for him. I snagged the meatballs for dinner and my husband got a med pie with half pepperoni and extra cheese on the whole thing. We got our drinks and kicked it while our food was being prepared. I can see this joint being fun in the spring and summer. There's fun outdoor seating available. I also like the big garage type door that can be opened up during the warmer weather. The vibe of this joint was on point. It's all in the music that could set the right tone. From the moment we walked in to the time we walked out, the music was the business. It reminded me being in my 20's. It was great chillin and listening to this great music selection. My husband's pizza came out first and that pie looked amazing. Cheese covered every inch of that pizza. They didn't lack on the pepperoni on half of the pizza. It made me happy seeing my husband enjoy his slices, especially since it's right out the oven. He didn't have to reheat it. Over the moon that my husband was eating fresh, hot slices for his birthday week. My meatballs came out shortly after. They looked hearty and meaty! Covered in marinara and prettily garnished with basil on top. It was pipping hot! It came with beautiful slices of cheesey foccacia bread. Too many combination possibilities with the bread and the meatballs. It was all so good! I appreciate that the marinara was tasty. I have been to a couple local joints where there was too much oregano in their sauce. This joint's marinara was on point. I ate two of those hearty meatballs and I plan on finishing the other two tomorrow. I can see why my husband likes this pizza joint so much. The pizza was hella good. The meatballs were tasty. The staff was really nice and kind. The venue is fun and bright. I can't believe it took me this long to try them out! I look forward to coming back with my husband. Stopped on a whim and now I know why my twenty something son talked about this place. $8 lunch special: 2 slices and soda. Spend $14 and you get sushi, a slice and soda. The place was busy and the vibe was good. The crust was chewy and charred just the right amount. Had the pepperoni because I feel like you have to start there. Also tried the bbq chicken. The sauce on this one was a little sweet for me. I do prefer a smoky/spicy bbq over sweet though. My husband had the spicy tuna roll and pepperoni slice. Went to Lulu's pizza for the first time tonight. It was decorated the right amount. Not overkill. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered the large meatza pizza and a Caesar salad. Sushi and pizza? Yes, it's true. I didn't even look the way of the sushi that I heard they serve there because who goes to a pizza place for sushi??? We visited for the first time around 7 PM on a weeknight to grab a bite at Lulu's and go walk Harrison Boulevard afterward to see the Halloween decorations. As I walked up, I noticed a fair amount of people eating on the patio and inside the restaurant. As I looked over the pizza menu, I was looking for lower carb options besides a salad but the appetizers were limited to things like artichoke dip or cheesy bread. I decided to order the cheesy bread and a 16 inch Spartan pizza, figured to give up on limiting carbs that night! We did also go for the beet salad as well. When they delivered the pizza, it appeared to be much larger than the 16 inch that I ordered. This of course was not a problem. The flavors on the pizza leaned a little bit sweet because the tomatoes were marinated in balsamic vinaigrette. it was pretty good with artichokes, tons of Greek olives, chicken, and cheese. There was so much for the four of us that I ended up taking home half the pizza. The cheesy bread was fabulous. Everybody thought that was the best thing on the table that night. The salad was very basic with mixed green lettuce, beets, and goat cheese with balsamic vinaigrette on the side. This salad and pizza combination was actually a great choice. I ended up taking a huge slice of the Spartan pizza, putting some salad on top with the dressing and folding over the pizza and eating it somewhat like a calzone. Pretty good stuff. What earns this pizza place five stars ? It's the fact that we took the leftovers home and put them in the fridge, then the next day, I heated up a slice of pizza in the microwave for 30 seconds. The pizza flavors and texture was better than when we ate it the night before. Also, they give pretty good service . You order at the counter they deliver your pizza and are very friendly to bring you whatever other items you need although it's all sitting out on the patio and you can grab it yourself. read more

After every hike at Harrison Hollows, I told my roommate "we are eating there after the hike" Did that ever happen? Nope. My friends Birthday was the other day and I FINALLY made it to the locally famous, Lulu's Pizza! Ever since moving here, I've been on an ongoing quest to find the BEST pizza in Boise. Growing up in NY, I had the best pizza my entire life. Coming to Boise, Idaho, you just don't expect to find pizza that compares to any NY pizza. Oprah's big ass did a pizza quest years ago and claimed a restaurant in Phoenix had the country's best pizza. Her lover, Gayle also said this place had the best. I lived in Phx for years, ate at that restaurant a few times and I can assure....it is NOT the best pizza in this country. It's good, but best of the entire country...haha, no, not quite. Not even close to the best. 2 weeks ago I reviewed NY Giant Pizza. After visiting Lulu's on Sunday, I can still say that NY Giant Pizza...is still my favorite here and that it is without a doubt, the closest to true NY pizza. Lulu's is very good, don't get me wrong, but to dub it Boise's best...ehhhh, I dunno bout all that! The restaurant is cool as hell. You walk in and immediately notice all the bikes hanging from the ceiling. They also have some great art on the wall, including a nice little tribute to the INCREDIBLE Aaliyah. The staff are a bunch of hippies and hipsters. Yes, there's a big difference between the two lol. Hippies are great! Hipsters...wellllll, we all know about them lol. Luckily, lulu's found some good hipsters. All their staff is super friendly! Most HIPPIES tho...are, haha! The food...the pizza, it is very good. Nice large slices, and it it tasty. I would say it's unique to Boise. Adding "NY Style" I think they should drop that bit. Then again, businesses do this to make that $$$, lol. Again, it's very good pizza, but I wouldn't say it's our best here. Should you try this place? Absolutely! Will I go again?? Of course. Oh, they have sushi too! I know, I thought it was totally random too! But apparently people like pizza and sushi night, hahaa! I paid like $26 for a large. I kiiiiinda thought that was overpriced. But again, when you win "best of" you have more leeway to bump the prices up and also, north end businesses have that rent to pay. Ok, I guess I will end here. Lulus makes good pizza. I think guidos is more true to NYC style, but lulu does a fine, competitive job. Maybe they don't have to put sun dried tomato on their Hawaiian pie, and maybe they scrimped on the basil on their basil pie, but I respect that their crust had the right chewiness factor to earn a repeat visit (ehhh you guys could add a little more garlic somewhere maybe). I ordered online and based on their website anticipated maybe it would take 45min? Imagine my amazement when everything was ready in 23min. And that was my biggest problem with Lulu. It is pretty irritating for the Oder website to say you might have to wait up to 2 hours and then drill it out that quickly. Yes, yes, yes, I could have called them, but the order experience felt misleading and I'd wanted to time it so it would be ready when I got there. Instead my food was getting cold when I picked it up. While I'm grousing let me get to the sushi. Got life is good and I think unagi rolls. The sauce was the thick sweet unagi sauce and caught me by surprise when I put some wasabi in there-- I know that they say they include it with the roll, but I guess I was also expecting trad soy sauce too? For the life is good roll? Was that wrong? One more thing-- again, this is more about my personal idiosyncrasies but I am not always thrilled to see rolls with all the sauce on them. Unagi is an exception. Again, I didn't have to order the life is good roll if I didn't want to, so maybe this is about me. Despite the complaints I'm giving 4 stars for the pizza crust. COVID score is zero. Many customers were bouncing in and around the shop and patio without masks and ignoring the fact we are in a mandatory use condition. Management and employees have to be able to enforce it. Specifically a family of 5 adults and 8 kids were totally ignoring any consideration of others. Other individuals as well. One couple comes in 1 with an 1 without a mask or consideration of sanitation. This is EXACTLY why restaurants are restricted. And when it happens more- Lulu owners can be pointed out. Additionally, a business with this trashcan on their patio is probably not concerned about cleanliness. ONE door for the entrance and the way they operate, everyone goes through that dirty handle with no sanitation. Food was good. But not worth the "downer" of negligent customers. Disappointed in the pizza that we ordered last night from the Apple St. location. Went to pick it up and they forgot to make the pizza so we had to wait for it. Even more disappointed when we got home to find the skimpiest pizza ever! Ordered a half mushroom and half pepperoni large pizza. Basically got a cheese pizza! You would think you would get more than a hand full of mushrooms. One piece had 1 slice of mushroom on it so yeah basically a cheese pizza. Food is always fresh . We love grabbing a slice or whole pie of the jalapeño popper pizza (jalapeño, bacon, cream cheese on mozz). Several other adventurous options we like occasionally too: the Athenian, Napa Valley and Dolce Vida in particular. The thin toasty crust is superb. Sushi is really tasty as well and we are super picky when it comes to sushi. For a mellow option we like the Crane Creek or Veggie Roll, but the Dragon rolls are tasty too. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They are often slammed. So patience is a must if they're busy. There's s the north end crowd, people coming and going from the mountain, families and all sorts. It's a casual, but nice, north end vibe. Beer and some canned drinks are served , but the atmosphere is chill. read more

So, I moved back to Boise after so long and paid my old friend Lulu a visit. So much has changed since I was here! The restaurant is still has cool as it used to be. There have been a few additions. There is a selection of beer next to the entrance and there are condiments in the dining area. They still have my favorite, unique gourmet pizzas. If you are looking for some unique and yummy pizza you must come here you will be pleased! The other addition that I noticed is that they now have sushi!! Now, Lulu's is difficult to resist. I am not sure when they started serving sushi, but I know they acquired the sushi bar from the grocery store that closed next door. And people? The sushi is gooood! Lulu's is still a fantastic place to meet your date, bring friends, and maybe have a small meeting at. This place has made some improvements when they didn't really need any.
