The hotel clerk down the road said the 2 or 3 minute drive to this place was worth the time. He was right. Devin (our server) met us at the door and gave us a seat at the window where our bikes were parked outside. This is a guy that gets it when it comes to bikers. He gave us recommendations and helped us through the menu and all of our questions. We ordered onion rings to start and they were very good. We also had a Cobb salad California Wrap (which is served hot). Both were filling and very good. Devin was also on top of drinks and all of our needs the entire time. Friendly too. The have some incredibly good looking desserts, but we were too full to try them. Inside you'll find one side of the restaurant that has a load of booths, and the other side tables and chairs in what you would expect in a 'Lumberjack' motif. This was a good stop. read more

UPDATE: Manager called me back, after a little bit more information she recieved approval to refund our full check (almost $300.00) which was a pleasant surprise. She was understanding and apologetic for the issues. Pending a successfull refund, we may give them another try. Last visit.... We visit this restaurant a couple times a year when we visit family in Susanville. The last visit was ok, service was a bit slow but the food was decent. This visit (our local family warned us that the quality has gone down but we decided to go anyway. Keeping in mind, we were a party of 7 adults, 2 teenagers and a toddler we anticipated it would take a little longer than normal but we didn't expect breakfast to take nearly 2 hours. Pro: the server was very friendly. Cons: 1 - took at least 15 min just order drinks, 2 - an additional 20 min or so to order food. 3 - By the time we actually recieved our food 7 out of 9 plates were cold and food hard. Even a biscuit with gravy that was ordered and delivered right away was ice cold. Not sure if thier food safety education is out of date but cold eggs, bacon, gravy, sausages, French toast, ham, and pork chops all being cold does not meet food safety regulation. Cold food is one thing but when multiple people in our party end up getting sick that's just not acceptable. 4 - I was so sick, I'm still sick a full 24 hours after the meal. I spent multiple hours in the bathroom with my head hanging over the porcelain bowl blowing chunks. I have never in my life been that sick from a restaurant. 5 - I called the restaurant to discuss the problem his morning, the person i spoke with had no real concern for the obtained illness but was more concerned about trying to convince me that I must have gotten sick elsewhere since thier regulars that were there this morning and yesterday are fine. She asked what i would like from them and I asked for a refund. I wouldn't normally want my money back but I've also never gotten so sick from food until now. She said she would have to call the owner and call me back. read more

We stayed at SureStay Hotel and used the free vouchers for breakfast for the first two days. We got the omelets and they were good. The third day we decided to buy breakfast off the menu. I got the corn beef hash and eggs with toast. It was the worst I have ever had. It was overly salty and dry. My toast never came. I also got a mocha ice coffee that tasted sour so I didn't take more than a couple sips. The service was slow but to be expected during breakfast rush hour. Cleanliness of the kitchen area was questionable as I saw the person handling money also handling food using their hands to transfer pancakes from one plate to another. I saw two workers wipe their hand on a random wet rag on the counter before handling food. The health department would have a field day!! read more

My husband & I walked in on Monday, July 6 at 3ish pm. There were 2 women working at the register who barely looked at us when we came in. We stood there waiting to be seated and neither one of them acknowledged us. After a few minutes we seated ourselves. I used the restroom and when I came out, my husband was still sitting there waiting to be acknowledged. So we sat for another 5 or so minutes before we decided to leave. As we left one of the women told us to have a nice day. Very poor customer service. We eat here every time we come to Susanville. about once a year, and I was so disappointed. We went last night for the early bird special. I had the grilled chicken breast, which, by the way, was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I chose mashed potatoes and vegetables as my sides. Those mashed potatoes were amazing! The vegetables were okay, but I would have preferred less carrots.
