What a cool place to hang out and let off some steam .. throwing axes like total bad asses!! We had a work team building event here, what a great time!! I highly recommend this location and it's staff was so friendly and helpful You start off with a safety briefing and then you pair up to practice, before the competition begins.. some rounds you're hitting your mark every time and others the ax is bouncing off the wall and hitting the ground with an embarrassing loud clang plenty of picnic table seating indoors and it's byob in the evening.. They sell water, soda and a small variety of snacks..

What a unique and fun (indoor) thing to do in the Valley! Glad that we get one of the first locations for LumberjAxes in the USA, right before our weather turns up and forces us to hide from the sun. One of my friends tried it recently with just a handful of people, and after seeing his Snaps, I told him we had to get a group of people together ASAP to do this! In total there was 12 of us who got together on a weeknight to be bad axes for a few hours. There's no large signage out front that directs you to the location. It's a little hard to see since it's in a warehouse district. It's a pretty good spot though if they brought in a food truck or two since they don't sell actual food (outside of bags of chips). It's BYOB for drinks, no glass containers. While they have a drop-in rate, I think the best bang for your buck is getting a group together and doing an outing for 2.5 hours. $35 for that includes instruction/how to, round robin flighting, and March Madness-style brackets to determine your group's #1 Lumberjack or Lumberjill. Since they've only been open a few months it wasn't busy on the night we did that. The staff are super nice and chill. I just wish it was a little more organized for the round robin games. Perhaps it might've been because there were only two of them? Unsure. Love that they let us choose the music since it was just our group there. There's a lot of potential in the space if they can get an alcohol permit and some food trucks or some food in general. Maybe things will turn up once their league starts (yes, that's a thing!). Can't wait to see how this place fares!

This place is awesome! First timer here!! The check-in/wavers were super easy to complete (via QR code). The Ax coach was a phenomenal teacher and handled himself well with our large group. We were pleasantly surprised at the ability to have catering brought in. Definitely will be back soon (:

New location at Tempe Marketplace is amazing with a full bar, restaurant, and lounge seating. Service was fast and super nice! If you're looking for a fun activity inside during the AZ summer this is the place! Recommend the deep dish pizza and prickly pear margarita if your hungry & thirsty!

Our annual friends trip to Scottsdale for Spring Training was dampened when dare I say it, baseball was cancelled. We were still going since there was no refund on our arrangements and we were looking for fun things to do while there. I've done axe throwing once before back home in California and knew my competitive group would love it. After seeing the relatively close distance from our stay to Lumberjaxes, the reviews and affordable price, we went. It was sooo nice to be able to bring your own beer after 4pm, the checkin was quick and friendly, the teaching from our assigned coach (Brendan on day 1, Colin(?) on day 2) was awesome; we decided to go back a few days later! We even bought the trophy to start a tradition of making our annual AZ trip to include a trip to Lumberjaxes and to scribe each trip with the winner of the round robin tournament! Thank you to the entire staff and coaches who made our two visits very memorable and if it wasn't for a baseball-less trip, I probably wouldn't be writing this review. :-)

What a fun night of team building. This location, which is inside and industrial park, is exactly as pictured. You can bring your own booze and your own food. The staff is lovely and keep the fun going. We had a lot of people and they cycled us through very very well! I would definitely return! And apparently they have leagues so if you're good you can throw axes all the time.

They are open to catering, this was for the Wounded Warrior Project that I am a member of.

This was my first time throwing axes and I could not have found a better place than LumberjAxes. Our instructer was amazing and would evaluate our technique and listening to him I was able to get quite good at throwing the Axe's.

Must wear closed-toe shoes! This was my first axe throwing experience and it was an axeciting one. I had a female teach my family how to throw axes. You could do the two hand method or the one hand method. The two hand method was my preferred throwing option because it added stability and allowed me to throw the axe straight. It is a lot more difficult than you think to make the axe land on the target! I don't know if there's an age limit but my 10-year old niece was able to participate in the fun. There's plenty of parking outside. The day I came, the place was supposedly closed for special events or reservations but they took me as a walk-in anyway. They have picnic tables inside on which you could enjoy outside food/drinks. This includes alcohol! The staff were really chill and helped make sure that we were playing safely throughout the entire time. They played a huge variety of music that included country and hip hop. Some of the hip hop songs were explicit so maybe it's not the most appropriate place for a 10-year old. They have a score card that you can use to keep track of your points. This is a great experience for team bonding experiences, bachelor/bachelorette parties, family fun or a casual date. I noticed a group next to me were all wearing plaid and definitely played the lumberjack vibe.

So I had the pleasure of attending the race today in Avondale and to our surprise LumberjAxes had a set up! It was only $5.00 for a while bunches of axes to throw. The young man who was teaching did so with great care! The whole team was so so nice and very considerate. I cannot wait to go to the Tempe or Phoenix location for a night of axe throwing! If you are looking for a fun night out doing something super fun give this place a go! We definitely plan on attending super soon! This was a great way to blow off some steam. Very cool and something totally different. My girlfriends and I wanted to step out of our comfort zones and decided to try axe throwing. Never knew people actually had a league for it but it was interesting to find out. At first it took us some time to get the hang of it and understand how to actually throw the axe. Then it became really fun and we were taking score and went to 31 points. I highly recommend people trying this out if you want to be out of the ordinary and just want something to do. read more

Came here for an office party and had a great time. The gentleman that helped coach us and keep our score was really good and could tell he really enjoys what he does. The place was clean and all the staff we came in contact with. You can bring in any kind of foods and drinks. They provide tables for each lane so you have a place to sit. Overall a great experience. We had a great time as a group and will most certainly do it again. Our Master Axe Throwing Coach took his job VERY seriously, ensuring that we left with all of our limbs intact. The team was very accommodating to our large birthday group. Music was on point and the TV's are a nice touch while waiting for your friends to throw. The resident cat kept an eye on everyone while not bothering. Oh yes, the BYOB is a huge plus. Nice work, guys! read more

Team event here we come!! We came here for a team manager outing and everyone was so excited at the surprise. (They didn't tell us where we were going). You can BYOB which is also pretty cool. Went here with my wife for the first time and absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere and staff, doesn't break the bank. You get a pretty good lesson prior to starting. I'm not very athletic but I had the best time of my life throwing axes and laughed so much ! The instructor was a young man named Francisco and he was very patient, friendly and very knowledgeable. He showed us when we were holding the axes wrong and made our tournament fun! Plus it helped We had a large group but everyone was involved to the end. Loved that we had to take our own drinks and food. They had picnic tables and bar stools. Very clean and very friendly all the employees! read more

Had a great time on Father's Day with my parents. I like that the coaches teach you how to throw then let you enjoy your time on your own but are available if needed. There was a bit of a delay in the beginning because a coach didn't help us right away but they made up for it extra by adding more time for us and getting us some drinks! We weren't upset but still appreciate the efforts read more

Cannot recommend LumberJAxes enough! The staff was awesome and ran a really fun tournament for our group. Plus, they took extra time to teach everyone how to properly throw an axe. Great experience & super friendly/helpful staff! I chose this as a weekend activity mainly for the boys in our group, but it was actually fun for all! They let you bring in your own food, and have picnic style tables for you to relax & enjoy. Make sure to wear closed toed shoes--happy I had a pair in the car. My friends and I came to Lumberjaxes on a Saturday night and we had so much fun! The staff was very nice and explained everything to us. Be sure to wear closed toed shoes, but if not they have clean socks and little crocs to borrow! I appreciated the freshly laundered socks to borrow. read more

This place is rad. Although it should be mentioned it's more like hatchet throwing. Either way this is a great place for a fun time. I went here on a work team builder but it would be great with some friends or a double date. Staff does a fantastic job with safety and teaching how to throw. The wood that is used for the targets is white fir. You can bring your own beer and drink after 4pm. read more

This was a great experience! I really enjoyed it and time flew by. My wife got us a gift certificate for Christmas and it bought us one hour of time in a bay. We got right in as we arrived pretty early in the evening (6:30). They set us up and did about 10 minutes of coaching to help you understand how to throw the ax to be successful. They brought us a game sheet and we were able to complete all the games on the sheet within the hour. I will be back for sure. The only reason for a four star is that in our bay, one of the boards was beat up pretty good. You could barely see the black ring and the wood in the center felt more like a sponge and a giant split through the green dot (clutch). It did frustrate me as a first time axe thrower and having a blade that isn't sharp. read more

This is definitely a unique and fun business model. At first I thought it was crazy $35 bucks a person but I was proven wrong. We had a 2 1/2 hour time block to learn and enjoy throwing axes. There was 20 of us and everyone had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was BYOB which was pretty neat. We will defiantly come back just with less people though so we can get more individual practice in. I recommend you checking this place out. read more

Our group of three went as a walk in around 6pm on a Friday night. There was no wait and and then employees were very friendly and informative. I could not get it for the life of me, but Gem took the extra time to help me out. My husband and daughter had lots of fun. One hour was plenary of time for beginners. read more

Our second visit to LumberjAxes in Tempe with a group of about 20. Wry simple and quick checking procedures. They accommodated our group and provided two "coaches" to make sure we were ready for the big tournament. The place was clean and well stocked with beer, wine, soft drinks and some snacks. Hanna did a great job overseeing our tournament and making sure we got it completed within the allotted time. Overall a great experience for our multigenerational group and was nice to see lots of others enjoying the location with friends and family. If you need more that chips, etc. for backing you can bring in your own or contact local local eateries that will deliver. We'll be back!! read more

If you're looking for an activity off the beaten path this place is for you. the staff here are amazing, they go above and beyond to make you feel safe and comfortable while throwing the axes. (a tip: watch for axes bouncing back!) another plus is the venue is byob! I definitely will be coming back to make many more memories with friends and family. read more

While each location differs in offerings and size, each location also offers something unique to the ASU community. While I've been in all locations, I often go to events most often at the Tempe Campus (which is what I was doing last week though the campus I go to work out at or for work in general is the West Valley Campus. Regardless of campus, all of the SDFC locations have well-trained student staff and professional staff who care about fitness and helping others be Well Devils. The SDFC fitness training options include group wellness, personal training, swim lessons, lifeguard training, safety education, and adaptive recreation. Sports programs include sports clubs and intramural sports. Note that some of these options and programs may have extra costs associated with them. The Tempe SDFC amenities include the Bike Co-Op, Sun Devil Kids Camp, Shake Smart, Equipment Rental, and Locker Rental. It has been many years since I have taken part in personal training at the SDFC, though I have a faculty/staff membership currently and have used this location (and the Downtown and West Valley Campus locations) for working out and using the treadmills, bikes, walking, and using the weight machines. All ASU in-person students pay a fee that includes membership to the SDFC. Non-fee paying students can get a SDFC membership for $100 per semester or $25 per month. Faculty and staff can pay $110 per semester for membership and pay through payroll deduction. ASU affiliates (alumni, ASU contractors, and students attending other colleges or universities) can pay $130 per semester for membership. SDFC members can sponsor someone else for $10 per visit or $45 for five visits through guest passes. I also find myself at different events, most often at the Tempe SDFC. This past week was the annual Vendor Fair, which ASU staff who work most closely with vendors (food and products) and hotels will come to the SDFC and attend a fair in one of the gyms. I have been to conference events, department team-building days, student organization events, and much more on all four campuses. Compared to many other universities, all four of the SDFC locations are state of the art and really set up students to be healthy. I certainly recommend SDFC membership to all ASU students, staff, faculty, and alumni!

Since we did the all-day pass for the littles, the two older kids and husband and me were include. All-in-all, it was $76 for admissions and 6 pairs of socks. We hung out for a few hours, went home for dinner, and then came back for a couple hours. After spending the entire day, we decided to convert to a monthly membership. The facility was so clean in the playgrounds, eating area, and bathrooms. The staff were pleasant and patient. The play areas were so much fun and large enough for adults to follow around the kids. My husband and I had a blast playing with the kids and were able to navigate the playground fully. With summer coming, we will be spending a lot of time here and will recommend to any others.

This turned out to be pretty fun. I was skeptical at first when my daughters said lets go axe throwing I didn't think I'd like it. It turned out to be lots of fun once I got past my fear of severing some part of my body, which by the way no customers have ever been injured while axe throwing. They give you a demonstration on proper throwing techniques and help you get comfortable with the axe. They also have games you can play. I seen a birthday party taking place and that seemed like a cool idea for a teen birthday party. I would recommend 100% it's clean environment for family friendly entertainment and friendly & knowledgeable staff. Also walk-ins are welcome as we were walk-ins on our visit. read more

Our company chose Lumberjaxes for our company Christmas party this year and we were not disappointed. All of the staff were professional, patient and made sure we put safety first. Lumberjaxes organized our Catering and shuttle service so all we had to do was select food, show up for the shuttle, have a blast competing against each other and pay the bill at the end. It was a very good experience and we all had a great time. We added in a "Best dressed Lumberjack" costume contest and the staff helped out and voted on those for us. This was a first time visit for our group and most of us had never experienced Axe Throwing. We had a blast! Sean was excellent at instructing us on proper throwing and giving suggestions during our time at LumberjAxes! Our group was about 10-12 people, and we did different activities of throwing from just throwing to throw, we had completions that were offered by LumberjAxes which really got our group into it and help us aim (or we thought we were, it might've been lucky throws!). It was our first time at Lumberjaxes. We had a group of 9 for a holiday family activity. Making the reservation online was very easy. It was confirmed right away. Our instructor, Jenna, was very helpful. I did think that our targets needed a little attention, as the paint that delineated the different target values were hard to read because of the wear. Other than that, we had a great time! I would definitely recommend Lumberjaxes for a fun group activity. I do think that groups should get some kind of discount, though. read more

Yo the GM said that his soap dispensers arnt even working in the kitchen and turned down any help with the food knowledge and any help... this is a oil fueled over funded place that dont give a fuck about american workers, honestly how do you still have the upstairs paid for?
