I've been a fan of Cheba Hut for years. In my opinion they have some of the best sandwiches around. This place is basically a marijuana themed restaurant. The sandwiches are named after different kinds of pot, as are the sizes. There's a big joint hanging over there register and another on the back wall. There's a cool Cheech and Chong art piece by the bar. There are some pretty cool murals - - one by the restroom and another really awesome one on the small patio. There are tons of stickers on the plexiglass behind the long booths. It's just kind of a mellow, cool place. Definitely not dancing. I ordered the Afghani nug. It's not on the menu, but they will make you any sandwich from the past. There was a little mix up because I ordered a side of hummus and a side of fresh veggies to dip in the hummus. However, when my sandwich came they put the hummus on my sandwich. It was fine - - it tasted good on the sandwich--and someone brought me side of hummus to eat with my veggies. I even got the red Kool-Aid, which I rarely do because it is not sugar-free. It did, however, hit the spot! The sandwiches here are amazing. I love cheba hut! I usually get veggie sandwhiches, so I ordered their magic mushroom sub. I lovee how it is portobello mushrooms and their sauce is good. I was very happy with my sandwhich and would definitely get it again. I prefer eating my sub there than taking it to go because the bread is hot and crispy when it comes out. I don't like getting it for takeout because it ends up being soggy and mushy. Sometimes, there is a long lunch rush so it can take a while. I was so excited to discover that Cheba Hut is literally 5 minutes from where I live! I actually tried them for the first time at their new location off Shea Blvd, where I work. My boss treated the staff to lunch, and I ordered the "Pacific Blue" -- it was amazing and I'd been craving it ever since. Imagine my surprise when I found out there's a location on Southern -- and I've lived in the area for three years without realizing it! I brought my boyfriend along, and we decided to dine in and grab drinks since they also have a bar. I got the "Dank" sub this time (highly recommend!), and he ordered the chicken marinara with added bacon. He went with a draft beer, and I enjoyed a mimosa while we waited. The vibe inside was super chill -- not too busy but definitely lively, with a steady stream of customers. Our bartender was also our server, and he was fantastic -- super friendly and helpful. Maybe it was just this location or a one off because the last time I ate there it wasn't like this but my recent experience left me feeling a little underwhelmed. The vibe is cool and the service was fine but like with most things these days it seems that prices keep going up and the portion sizes keep getting smaller and smaller. In this case it was the amount of meat they put on the sandwich. I bought the biggest sub they offered and I believe I paid almost $17 just for the sub which I wouldn't mind but after getting it I was like - this sub looks like it has a ton of lettuce on it but light in the meat department. I took all the "produce" off and what was left was honestly less than 3 ounces of roast beef and there was no turkey breast at all and the sandwich ( it was supposed to have both). I didn't realize it because I took it to go and ate it at home otherwise I would've said something when I was there. It was just annoying because you would think for $17 you would get a decent sandwich. I mean, I could've went to Albertson's and got a pound of London broil for $15 and made an insane sandwich myself. When are these companies gonna realize that people are just not gonna buy their stuff anymore if they keep raising their prices and reducing the portions. When I ate it, I honestly did not even taste any meat in it at all. Hopefully this is the exception and not the norm. read more

This place hit the spot. Hands down the best place to get a sub. This location in particular goes out of their way to give you all the extra sauces and portions you desire. I always get the white widow which is a chicken, bacon, and ranch sauce they make which is incredibly delicious. I get extra sauce because I'm a saucy person and again it's so yummy. My Bf got their French dip which I believe is called the Ak-47 which is another yummy banger. I also tried their bbq meatballs which were also saucy and with veggies. So good.
