I stopped in with my daughter to grab sandwiches for me and my husband. The girl at the front suggested the Chinese BBQ pork for me, and my husband ordered the grilled beef. When we got home, we realized we had two grilled beef sandwiches instead. They were honestly so good... no complaints at all, but I was definitely excited to try the BBQ pork. Mekong Sandwiches would get higher than full stars if possible. By far, without a question, the best banh mi I have ever had. I come here at minimum weekly as my most frequented food. Grilled chicken banh mi and bbq pork banh mi are the regular (split with the wife). The meat is tasty, the pate is amazing and generous, and the vegetables are perfect. I have tried to find other banh mi that compares, but they have never even been as good as an "off day" at Mekong let alone their a-game days. read more

Was recommended by a friend to try this place since I love banh mi's and I'm so upset that I hadn't tried it until now! This may be my favorite spot to get a banh mi in AZ. I got the lemongrass grilled beef and it was so flavorful. Everything tasted fresh. The bread itself was also fluffy and soft. Recently discovered this place within the past two months. And I must say out front this place is better than Lee's Sandwiches. I did grow up with those sandwiches and I must say it is very nostalgic, however, the bread here is much softer than it doesn't tear up the roof of your mouth when you eat it. We always have a large order when we come in, but the staff is always very nice and accommodating to our larger order as well as placing veggies on the side since some of our sandwiches we eat at later time. Very clean and nice with a easy layout. It's a small shop, but it definitely gets the job done. Will continue to come back here again and again. read more

I love mekong sandwhiches and love how it's in the mekong plaza!! The #3 grilled beef banh mi was good. The meat is so juicy and tender and has great flavor. I also love how they sell a lot of Vietnamese snacks and food there. It's really nice to see the typical vietnamese snacks and desserts, sesame balls, pate, and sticky rice. Friendly service and a nice restaurant with a good amount of seating inside and outside. They have a good selection of drinks and food items. The store itself also has a lot of snack items for sale. I still LOVE Mekong Sandwiches but admittedly, the prices have gone up, doubled even- from $4.85 in 2021 to ~$8 in 2024/2025. The su da is about $5, so the combo is $14. Got the Mekong special sandwich which is their version of a deli meat combo. The meat and veggie ratio was good, with a lot of meat. I would like a little more pate, but it was tasty. (You can add more pate for $1.). Also had the pork sandwich. It was good too, but I preferred the Mekong. The guy at the counter was friendly and helpful with a few questions we had. It's located in what appears to be the Asian district of town and is bright and roomy, with some small tables for dining in. There's a large counter with a lot of other food items not on the menu. I have had a few sandwiches that I didn't love there, but overall this place still easily has the best sandwiches that I have ever tried in Phoenix, and I think I've been to every alternative. The bread isn't hard as other places and still crispy on the outside, it was the best!
