I have very sensitive skin so it took me a long time to find a place that I trusted. I am also VERY picky when it comes to service. She was so professional yet fun at the same time when treating me. She is straightforward and never pushes products or treatments you don't need. My skin looked fresher and clearer after one treatment. She also did an amazing facial with made me a regular customer. There are not a lot of high quality spas in the area so I was really happy to discover her. I even started getting my hair colored and cut with Kristi at the salon Fringe. I literally love this place! The neighborhood is super cute, close to the train and safe! I found them on the MindBody app & decided to get a 3 pack for underarm laser removal. I'm obsessed! I've only had 2 sessions done and literally have no hair! But naturally I'm not very hairy, regardless I just want it all off. I even started Brazilian laser removal because I just loved the service and efficiency. It does hurt a little but they are totally cool with you taking breathers. Beauty is pain. I hardly ever leave yelp reviews but Jen is an absolute legend. I had an appointment for broken blood vessel on my nose and showed up almost 20 minutes early (overzealous time management on my end ‍). I felt bad about it but Jen had no problem taking me in early. It was so quick, I was in and out before my original appointment time! She explained everything she was doing which was very reassuring for someone who had never done laser before. The laser itself was only mildly uncomfortable, just felt like a hot needle pricking my skin for a few minutes and then we were done! She gave a quick rundown of healing time and said to text or call if I had any questions. Just over 2 weeks later (i'm a slow healer!) and my nose is completely clear of broken capillaries. I am sooo happy, I didn't even realize how much it was affecting my self esteem! Now I can't wait to take off my mask (vaxxed!!!) so everyone can see my nose lol. Thank you Jen!!! read more

I had the Genesis treatment and micro-deabrasion as well and a mix of a few other things. It's been two days and Jen said to wait 3 to see full results but my skin looks great! Jen took a picture of me undressed without my permission. With that said I will continue the review: My first laser hair removal session with Jen was 11/24/15. I felt comfortable, it has a calm ambiance, is appropriately decorated & private. She has good reviews so I knew I'd be ok. When I came in Jen mentioned she had it done herself and her horrible last work experience at Skin Spa NY (or Sacred Skincare?) made her create Lumena. Said she's the owner & that Kait used to work for Skin Spa as well. We chatted so much my appointment went by so fast and we booked 12/29/15. Unfortunately I found out I wasn't going to make it. I went there some time before that day with my sister Donna and Jen offered me her personal number to contact her anytime. I remembered this & text her a few days before that appointment. I asked to reschedule for the next available; she told me that was 1/9/16 but in the evening with Kait. I said didn't mind; what was important was at least I'd be seen asap. Kait was really friendly. She noted I'd paid online & invited me to pay through Square at our next 2/8/16. That Monday afternoon I found the lights off and her sitting in a chair with the front door wide open. She explained the Fringe Salon is closed Mondays; I had no idea. She said they were best for this reason. She brought out the Square while saying don't worry it was giving her issues. Jen stopped by and was pretending not to see me but we got along fine before... Not long after Kait said call my bank, the Square should resolve and I could go on my way. Chase said the problem was the Square... My sister Donna was also a client at the salon but she got a confirmation email about MY follow up. She replied she didn't have one for February & Jen was RUDE about THEIR confusion even though she put DONNA'S name in the message. Jen had the idea there were multiple cancellations but Donna NEVER cancelled any of her sessions so I don't understand why Jen was confused. I called the spa, left a detailed voicemail then called Jen's personal. She answered with an ATTITUDE about her day off. It's your DAY OFF and you're sending WORK emails??? Plus no one ever followed up WITH ME about MY appointment. Then I couldn't avoid missing my 3/22/16 nor was Iable to contact them until the end of the business day. I text them & outlined it's expected that they have policies; I'm mindful of my appointments, contacts, and their professionalism. I said it's my choice to deal with the spa and I'd call them asap. I stopped texting them at 7:00 pm but Jen kept sending texts as long as 15 mins afterward since she was offended by my honesty; Jen mixed me up with Donna MULTIPLE times and acted like that was OUR fault. As a salon you should have separate files for each client, related or not. The Square malfunctioning and saying they all of a sudden weren't open Mondays after I was there 2/8/16 were issues as well. As a business you need to be consistent. Why Jen thought I'd play the text game all night with her, I don't know since it was so late. She obviously took what I'm saying personally despite saying HERSELF it was business. The next day I called the spa directly & Jen returned with her personal. She admitted not knowing about the Square having issues and her failure of being professional. I told her I understood that her pregnancy made things harder. She wanted to refer me to Skin Spa after admitting Lumena didn't meet professional standards; she said she could give names. She lied she was booked til the evening of 5/10/16 which at the time was over four weeks away. Obviously Jen simply did not want me as a customer; that was obvious from the Monday that her and Kait didn't communicate with each other not to be open on Mondays. It's too bad Jen made the choices she did because I otherwise enjoyed my experience at the salon with Kait. Donna left a review before me below (sort the reviews by date to see) and Jen is UGLY. Speak of Jen elsewhere and you'll find she is known for her nasty attitude, which is surprising. Donna was NEVER late, ALWAYS paid & gave tips EVERY time. I was with her. She NEVER cancelled either yet Jen still unloaded on her. Plus SHE WAS NEVER EVEN SERVICED BY JEN, she only saw Kait! read more

Scheduled a consultation with Jenn back in February and booked an appointment for March. I had to call and reschedule, and Jenn and Shay were both extremely accommodating to try to work around my tough schedule. When I went for my consultation (which was free of charge), Jenn used the high frequency wand on a blemish and gave me a free sample before I even booked anything! When I went back for a facial and laser genesis, everything went smoothly and was very comfortable. I was nervous since I've never gotten anything laser-related done before, but Jenn made the process as comfortable as possible. She explained what she was doing every step of the way, and her extractions are top notch. I had a lot of clogged pores on my chin and she completely extracted all of them without leaving my face red and inflamed afterwards. The prices are also extremely reasonable and the quality is much better than you would get at some overpriced medspa in Manhattan. I booked another facial on the spot and will continue to go to Jenn for all of my skincare needs! read more

I am in my 50's and have been vigilant about my skin for at least 15 years now. I am very fair and every little mark shows more prominently on fair skin, plus signs of aging, ugh! I have had every possible kind of facial, chemical peels, laser peels, all kinds of machines and wands and serums, you name it. I even did a CO2 peel about 8 years ago (the cadillac of peels with crazy long down time). It is very costly but I really love having nice skin and do not want to resort to fillers and that sort of thing (although I do like botox :-) I heard about Jen through the owner of the hair salon I go too and was impressed by all of the different treatments she offers at great prices. I opted for the signature facial and all I can say is OMG. It is very hard to find someone who does deep extractions of dirt in pores. She cleaned me up so beautifully and then exfoliated my whole face. She customizes the treatments based on what you need and what you discuss with her. She did my face, my neck and my chest - incredible !! As someone who has done every facial treatment and loves loves loves the technology, I can honestly say I have never been so impressed with the service I got. It's three days later and my skin feels and looks beautiful and tighter and plumper - oh yay !! She was very patient and generous with her knowledge. Discussing each thing we did along the way. We did IPL on my chest - I have been wanting to do something about the dark spots on my chest for quite awhile and was so excited when she told me the IPL would work for that. I am a fan for life. I have already booked my next appointment. I am going to give my daughter some treatments for a Christmas present. Never to young to start taking care of ourselves and never to old to see great improvements with the right treatments. read more

I got three laser hair removal sessions done here, in the beginning it was great, but after when I wanted to schedule more appointments they would tell me that they were booked for the month or two! They did it to me for April and May and proceeded to say they didn't have anything until June... so I stopped coming here and I stopped trying to books appointments, at some point I felt like by didn't want me to come there anymore because every time I tried booking an appointment they would tell me they were booked. I go to sacred skincare spa now, their prices are great, and they give you chocolate and refreshments as u wait along with creams to use after your laser treatment. Much better service. And also I've never canceled any appointments with them or was ever late, I was always nice and even tipped each time. My sister was a client there as well and they treated me differently based on their experience with her which is not fair at all. They were always rude with her and never professional, they knew they were wrong bc they were always quick to snap at her.I was always nice always on time never late always tipped but bc of their experience with my sister they treated me differently! Funny how Jennifer says she knows the owners of the other spa but mean while when I mentioned them, they had no idea who she was, I was just leaving an honest review but since I didn't give a 5 star rating Jennifer felt the need to be nasty with me, I am my own person, stop being bias and treating ppl the same based on their knowing of each other, nice to hear business is booming but you won't have me as s customer anymore, Kait was nice, and you Jennifer never have done treatments on me only my sister so relax and learn how to speak to customers if you want to continue running a successful business. I've been getting laser hair removal for a few years, on and off. I started going to Lumena a few months ago. The space is clean and modern, like a treatment room you'd find in a moderate to expensively priced spa. Jen evaluated my skin and gave me her analysis - it was clear to her that I'd had some laser treatments but there were stubborn or missed areas that weren't responding. I wasn't sure I'd always been treated with the right laser in the past, but she confirmed she had a Yag, which is the right laser for skin of color. She kept checking in with me to make sure I was comfortable and I was - she kept the discomfort at bay with a cooling gel and the treatment was thorough and pretty painless. Not to mention, Jen is both professional and extremely personable. Best of all, I'm starting to see the results that have been alluding me. My skin is smooth, the pores/follicles are less visible, and there's barely been any new growth between treatments which have been about 5 weeks apart. Finally I found a place that I want to keep going back to, it's a really nice space, the treatment isn't painful, I've gotten really good results, and I've found an aesthetician I really like.
