My spouse & I dine monthly with our dear friends. constantly on the prowl for great places to host our connections, we are open to most any menu. We chose Lumière (Wilsonville, Oregon) because 1. It's a convenient drive from our friends' residence, and 2. It is of French cuisine. Lumiére is a small, off the beaten path, in a very high-end residential area. The trappings are tasteful, welcome and clean (except for the stool in the men's lavatory). The venue has several dining tables, as well as attractive & comfortable patio seating. We chose inside. Our server/service could not have been better, in any way. Addie took care of us with smiles and warmth, in spite of her tender age (she's pursuing an Environmental Engineering undergraduate degree). From beginning to end, we were given service as though the server had been there for 20 years. The menu is somewhat limited, which I would have expected, but the selections and quality are pleasing. Likewise, the precious and tiny bar will meet your needs. Each in our party chose a different entry. I chose steelhead salmon with perfectly prepared au gratin potatoes and equally-delightful asparagus. If anyone cannot find a meal of delight, it's because they likely are "meat & potatoes" or "burger & beer" diners. The dessert menu is limited to 3 choices; the 4 of us shared two of them. The quality was high, and the portions were plenty. Lumiére is not a bargain restaurant, by any means. Our 4 meals + gratuity was $177, and I did not consider that excessive for our total experience. I stand strong in recommending this quaint family venue, and our party has already agreed it is high on our dining list! read more

The food was mediocre at best. I found they skimped on ingredients. I ordered a cheeseburger but could barely find the brie cheese, the bacon jam, or the aïoli. I needed a magnifying glass. read more

The atmosphere and the restaurant were charming, service was good, but unfortunately the food was not. Three of us, three different meals and all three were flavorless and the hamburger and sandwich were dry and void of any sauces. One person had a Cobb salad with barely a drop of feta cheese or bacon. Not going back. read more

My review of Lumiere can pretty well be summed up in one sentence: "Of all the restaurants I've ever been to, this was definitely one of them." Our visit was mediocre throughout, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt, because the restaurant and staff are still new and very inexperienced -- so I'll rate A-OK (3 stars). I would not be so kind to a longer standing eating establishment. The biggest positives I can give are: the decor is attractive and well lit, our server was very nice, and some of the food was tasty. Starter courses were small, yet quite expensive, with sometimes strange components (like potato chips on a charcuterie plate). The best flavors of the evening came from the caramelized onions & balsamic reduction on the whipped brie appetizer. My Caesar salad was good, but nothing extraordinary. At $5 for a half salad, this was actually the best value of the evening. For a main course, I ordered the King Salmon (listed as Steelhead on the website menu). The salmon itself was nicely cooked, and quite tasty; but it was served with an *excessively* salty béarnaise sauce, which was quite unpleasant. The dish also included the strangest "herb roasted potatoes" I've ever had -- they were cut into tiny cubes, and browned to the point of being very dry, without much potato flavor or fluffiness. The broccolini was cooked as well as one can cook this fibrous vegetable, but I am absolutely baffled by the food industry's fascination with this veg option, and I wish the fad would pass. I still had room for dessert, so I ordered the chocolate mousse, which was described as "dark chocolate with vanilla whipped cream". It was not at all what I expected -- the "mousse" was very dense, without any real chocolate flavor, and was not enjoyable at all. Mousse should be, "light, airy, and velvety smooth consistency, similar to a cloud", according to one online definition, and this was nothing like that. The whipped cream also lacked any sweetness, and whole dish tasted quite stale; as if it had been sitting in a fridge or freezer for quite some time. I'm hoping all of the mediocrity I experienced at Lumiere was due to growing pains, as I would really like to this cute establishment succeed; but they are going to need to make some significant improvements for them to achieve long-term success. read more

Second visit to Lumiere. First visit soon after grand opening. At best, food was mediocre and I could tell staff was just learning their jobs. We decided to give them time to get settled in and perfect their menu and service. The second visit was to try their Easter Brunch. $25 for either French toast, eggs and bacon, or Eggs Benedict and potatoe. meal also included small cup of fruit, oj or mimosa, and coffee. when served, the scrambled eggs were cold and the French toast barely warm. The bacon was in a soggy pile, very undercooked. The food was sent back to kitchen, but when new plates arrived, still eggs and French toast were barely warm, the bacon was more crisp. Also, the cup of fresh fruit was mostly filled with fruit and melon that was not ripe. We told owner about our "cold" meal, while he did have them replaced, he was not very friendly and did not seem very happy being there. There was a small but pleasant patio in front, enjoyable on a sunny day. Also, the waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall a very disappointing experience. It seems the owners may not be very experienced in the restaurant business. Listening to customers could be helpfu. We will not be returning . read more

A great option for dining in Wilsonville, Lumière is tucked into the village center in Charbonneau. Three of us went for lunch, and each meal was delicious, well-prepared and well-presented. The Banh Mi was one of the best in the area, with a crisp (but not tough) baguette, and tasty sauce; the BBQ burger was enhanced by its light-as-a-cloud brioche bun; the chicken sandwich was moist on crisp toast. The desset of choice was crème brulée, with a just-right warm glaze cracking open to a smooth, cool custard. Our server was cheerful, pleasant and helpful - adding to the enjoyment of the meal. Our only caveat was that, while the interior is well-appointed, the surfaces are all hard, so the noise is likely to be a problem for some diners. read more

Had a wonderful dinner Friday of perfectly prepared ravioli and Brussels sprouts appetizer, French Bordeaux wine to drink and to top it off, i splurged on crème brûlée for dessert. I've heard that they had a rough start (they've only been open a few months) but it looks like things are pulling together. We need to support this restaurant as they continue to get better. We need a place for dinner in Charbonneau, especially since traffic on I5 gets so hectic and they are open until 8 pm. I hear happy hour is fab so I plan to return to check it out. read more

Yum! I just had my 3rd meal at Lumiere. So good. Such exquisite flavors. I had brunch there and enjoyed it. The service was great. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. I went 2 nights in a row for dinner. Tonight I enjoyed a 2 1/2 hour date night with myself. Court the girl that lives within. I started with a glass of red wine accompanied by the Caesar Salad and the beet salad. The server did not rush me in putting in my dinner order and when I was ready the chef was kind enough to let me choose different sides from the menu. I had the NY steak with grilled asparagus and rosemary mashed potatoes. I am pleased. For dessert I had Chocolate French custard, orange zest, whipped cream. I must say this is what I consider the perfect dessert. A cup of fresh brewed decafe completed my perfect night out. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

My husband and I had lunch there today and the food was fantastic! I had the Bahn Mi sandwich and the flavors were delicious. It came with a side of their homemade frites. My husband had half a Caesar salad with chicken. He loved it! The chicken was moist and tender and the salad crisp and fresh. More people need to give this place a try. I really, really wanted to like this place. Wilsonville sorely needs better places to eat and it was clear from the decor that the owners of this place had invested a lot of time in re-doing what had previously been a dark, dingy, and dated restaurant. The interior is largely white, with nice tables and good natural light. There are also speakers for music, though oddly the music did not turn until about halfway through our meal (at which point it was mostly '70s pop music ... at a French restaurant). The menu is very limited. There are only about 5 entrees in addition to other items like appetizers, soups, salads, etc. Perhaps the management wants to learn how to makes these dishes well before expanding the menu, so I'd give them a pass on that if everything else was ok. It turned out that one of the best-looking entrees (from the menu, at least) -- the steelhead -- was out when we arrived for our 630 PM dinner. So we proceeded to order other items. After ordering our food, the wait took FOREVER. We ordered bread as well (bread is not gratis) and expected it before the meal. The waitress brought it out after the very long wait, but forgot to bring bread plates. The next time we saw her, with the bread plates, she had our meals, so the bread was then kind of superfluous. The bread was also kind of hard, like it was half-toasted, which was weird. It turned out that my ravioli dish also included more thoroughly toasted (almost burned) bread (which the menu had not indicated). Had I known that, we might have ordered one fewer bread plate. My ravioli was good, but my wife's chicken cordon bleu dish had some issues. The chicken itself was fine but the accompanying mashed potatoes and asparagus were lukewarm if not room temperature, which was odd since my ravioli plate was hot to the touch, presumably from sitting under a heat lamp for some time. My son ordered the steak frites and his steak was one of the fattiest I've ever seen. The other items at my table -- fries, salad with salmon, and burger -- seemed to be fine. The desserts were good, even if pricey ($10 for cheesecake!), so that was a bright spot. Generally speaking, it looks like the place is under-investing in staffing. I saw the owner out on the floor, bringing drinks, repeatedly going in and out of his office with the door open (the office is visible from the dining room -- bad layout). If the owner is that hands-on, that worries me. He may have no margin to hire other people. The table behind us sat unbus-ed for an hour. When I was a busboy, I cleared tables immediately. They probably don't employ a busboy at the moment. I hope this place can iron out the kinks and stay in business for a while but after my trip here I am worried. read more

We bought a gift certificate for Lumiere at a silent auction. The restaurant was about 45 minutes from our home but it looked intriguing so we gave it a shot. We were very pleasantly surprised. The owner was on sight and stopped by to make sure we were satisfied. I told him our server was excellent, had a big smile and she was most gracious. I ordered the steelhead, which anytime it's offered, I'm in. My wife ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu. The steelhead was tasty. My wife's Chicken Cordon Bleu was prepared quite uniquely, was very good and large enough where she brought some home. There are some interesting things on the menu that would certainly be worth another visit. Overall, the experience was worth the drive and Lumiere is a great addition to the Charbonneau community of Wilsonville. I recommend you give it a try! read more

I don't normally leave reviews, but I think I need to warn potential customers... It was empty when we got there but no one was there to seat us. After a few minutes the one waitress came, and all throughout our dinner it seemed like we were bothering her with our presence.. The bartender wasn't at the bar most the time, I got my first drink after I finished my appetizer (Ordered them at the same time) To top it off, the steelhead I ordered was flavorless and actually had a hair in it! Tuesday's are Pasta Night at Lumiere and we had a great meal of penne with meatballs served with ciabatta and a glass of wine--all for $20. The food was excellent, the staff were kind and friendly (but not too attentive, you know what I mean!), and the prices on their menu were quite reasonable. We will definitely go back again--we really enjoyed the French bistro feel of the place! read more

Been there twice, for lunch & for dinner. Menu selections are great. Had the soup tour for lunch - all soups were delicious! Dinner was chicken cordon bleu - extremely well prepared! Roasted asparagus was to die for. I wanted a second helping! Portions are generous. Prices are reasonable. Both servers (lunch/dinner) were perfect. Good service (fast), friendly, and fun. The inside of the restaurant is really lovely, and I'm so happy they have outside seating! It is elegant, but comfortable and welcoming. We will go back again and again to try the other entrees!
