This bar dates back from 1895 and currently is your typical mahogany, green leather type of establishment. It's a popular hangout for the young crowd, loud, noisy, and rambunctious, and is a great place for people watching. Luckily we were able to find a place to sit because the night we went it was packed! Two of my favorite beers were the Face Down Brown from local Telluride Brewing and the 90 shillings from Odell Brewing out of Fort Collins, CO. Face Down is a brown ale with an excellent malty flavor. 90 shillings is an English-style amber ale with lots of flavor from the grains and was easy to drink. Next time I'm in town, I would love to visit for happy hour. read more

After driving from Denver to Telluride and finding that everything closes around 9 pm, if you are lucky 10 pm. It was nice to find a late night place. If you want to go where the people are, this is the place to go. The night we went there were all ages of people which was really cool. There beer was also good. Two of our favorites were the 90 Shillings and the Face Down Brown. They also have pool and foosball tables, and live music every Thursday night. Something else that is interesting about New Sheridan is that it's Telluride's oldest bar dating back to 1895. It had beautiful stain glass divider panels and the original mahogany wood paneling. read more

Cool old hotel with nice rooftop views but expect to pay super high prices ($25 martini) and slow service.

This is a historic bar located off Colorado Ave in downtown Telluride. It used to be a brothel in the late 1800s. There are buttons on the walls that were doorbells for the rooms for rent back in this time. What I really liked about this place though we're the drinks are considerably cheaper than every other establishment in town. They aren't serving top shelf liquor, but the price difference was drastic. $5 for a Jack Daniels shot, sign me up! read more

The roof top is a great place to grab a drink outside! We ordered the charcuterie board and ate every last thing on the board which is saying something! I ordered an aperol spritz which came ombré and in a large glass! Would highly recommend! read more

Let me start this review by stating that I have a working service dog who is trained to alert me if my blood sugar drops. I also have a dog in training when my current dog retires. I had a nice experience on one evening in the Sheridan bar. My dogs are highly trained and very well behaved. On a second night the bar tender was extremely rude to my husband and scolded him stating that our dogs were fake service animals. We were so taken aback I did not know what to do. This has never happened to us. I wanted to lift up my shirt to show him my insulation regulator but decided against it. Never again will this lousy place get a dime from me. The bar tender needs an education in ADA rules and how to determine if a service animal is in use. I realize Iam writing this review while angry at the situation but sometimes that is what it takes. We stayed at the New Sheridan in July. I have never experienced such outstanding service as I did at the bar. The bar tender was a middle aged man whose name I cant recall, the most perfectly professional server I have ever encountered. He was on top of everything. His eyes were everywhere making sure everyone was taken care of. He was attentive, courteous and aware at all times of the all customers without being obtrusive. Just outstanding! read more

If you are from Texas and under the age of 30 do not come here. I have never met a bartender so rude. My sister and I are both from Texas and both of age. We've been coming here for years. She took our ID's in the back room told us our ID's were fake, because she's seen so many fakes from Texas. "You should be glad I'm not taking them, but you need to go anywhere else." We asked for a manager or for the cops to check them and she refused. She wouldn't serve us, and I saw her serve high schoolers. Highlight: PBR is $2.50 per pint. The bar is right downtown and has great prices and specials. Jack and coke were $5. There's pool, lounge seating, everything you could ask for in a bar. Wow- this place does some business. We wanted to come here but it was always so so busy and loud. Finally we went in late night to check it all out. Bar has $5 Jack Daniels every night and different specials on each night of the week. We were in on Saturday night and they had $5 mandarin vodka and $7 Mexican setups (shot of tequila and a bottle of Plata mexican beer). So I had the vodka and soda and hubs had the mexican set up. Not a bad deal. We were lucky enough to get seats at the bar but I doubt that is usually the case for most evenings. I definitely think this is the "scene" of Telluride. They do have a glass of wine and 10 oz sirloin steak for $21 any night of the week in the bar or parlor. So if you want to try their steak but wish to avoid the $40 price tag on it, you can skip the restaurant and try it out for half the price. There's my little tid bit for the day! read more

Charming historic bar filled with skiiers from out of town talking up a storm about their ski conquests. Full bar with all kinds of beers. Pool tables in the back, poker upstairs. I would recommend New Sheridan Chop House to anyone. Amazing food and service. My family has spent every Christmas Eve for the past 10-12 years there. However, I use to love the bar at New Sheridan until tonight. My wife, my Mom, and I went into the bar to get a flat liner to celebrate my father's life. My father passed away after a 2.5 year battle with throat cancer earlier this month. He was my best friend and business partner. He always enjoyed seeing my mom and her friends get a flat liner and make snow angels in the street after the drinks around Christmas time. I was asked to show my Id, which I held before the plexiglass tonight. The rude bartender asked me to hold it closer so I put it right against the plexiglass. He said, "I have bad eyes and still can't see." Therefore, I put my ID under the plexiglass still inside my wallet for him to see. Finally, he asked for me to take my ID out of my wallet so he could check it under a light. All he had to do was ask me from the beginning to take my ID out of my wallet. He continued to be rude for everyone in our party. I decided to be the bigger man and use the restroom and cool down to de-escalate the situation. When I returned, I gave the bartender a 20% tip because I know the virus has had an impact on bars and restaurants. When I gave him the tip, I wrote a note on the bottom of the bill to let him know about my dad and how he was so rude when we were celebrating my father's life. I didn't want to call him out using my voice, so I decided to write the note on the bill. The bartender noticed me writing the note and yelled "if you want to say something, then say something to my face." Incredibly rude when I was trying to say something in private to him and not embarrass him in front of others. He kept pushing me to say what I was writing on the bill. I finally said quietly, " you will see when I hand you the bill a**hole." He told the manager at the bar what I said and the manager grabbed my wife's drink, my moms drink and my drink and told us to get out. We left right away. I told the manager we would leave, but to refund me the money for the drinks since we didn't have a sip. The manager said you will have to take it up with your credit card company. The bartender and the manager handled the situation poorly. I even told the manager that we were celebrating my fathers life and he said "well you f***ed that up" and proceeded to kick us out without hearing our side of the story. Very sad and pathetic situation for a family where the emotion is still very raw. I am very disappointed with the place I use to love. I spoke to the main guy in charge, Ray, later tonight and he handled the situation like a professional. I just hope hope the manager and bartender can learn how to respect customers. My family and I was embarrassed tonight for no reason. I really hope this never happens to anyone again. read more

I stopped in the New Sheridan while on my cross-country motorcycle trip.This place was recommended to me by one of the locals I ran into at Allred's. It was a Monday so it was kind of slow which I liked. The bartendress was sweet and gave me a lot of good advice on places to visit while on my journey to California. I have been debating writing this review for about two weeks, but it still troubles me. I have been to this bar multiple times, but recommend you go to Liberty bar down the street if your looking for good drinks and people. Disappointed to see how rude the bartender and manager treated a man, his wife, and assuming a mom. To blame the situation on covid is wrong. It is called you need to sit down with your manager and bartender and teach them how to be civilized beings. Look at all the reviews! All the negative comments are about how wrong people are treated. There is no excuse for the bartender and manager to curse at a customer. You are dead wrong to do so! It is disgusting when the manger chooses to side with the bartender that said "guess you f****d that up" after he was told by the customers they were celebrating their dad's life that had recently passed. We were in town for the Blues & Brews Festival this year and stopped in for a drink after we had some dinner. Crowded spot but we were able to snag 2 seats at the bar. Great beer on tap, pool tables in the back, and poker game upstairs. if that doesn't bump you up to 5, not sure what does. Though the night I was there, I'd just battled 40 mph winds in a blizzard, so I'm sure a 40 minute wait for swill piss would have earned at least three stars, so take it with a grain of salt! Bar staff was friendly and accommodating. Even though it was crowded, they changed the TV for me to the NBA dunk contest (which was greatly appreciated by the bar crowd as well). We found this place after being referred by a resident on the gondola. We were a party of four looking for pre-dinner drinks and found a comfy antique couch to sit in near the window. Only a bartender, no waitress. I ordered a flatliner to drink, an espresso based martini type drink. Not bad, not great. No food offerings so we had to move on. The decor here is WONDERFUL! We were new to Telluride and the New Sheridan Bar came highly recommended. Couldn't have been more disappointed. The Bartender was as rude as they come. Our son turned 21 three days ago and has a " vertical license". The bartender said it was their policy, not the law, to not accept them regardless and RUDELY asked us to leave the bar. Great old school bar. Exactly what I would think most people are looking for during their stay in T-ride. Dark wood, lots of whiskeys, and plenty of pool tables. While I did run into some locals, it's mainly the tourists and some understanding bartenders. If you're looking for a place to kick a few back with a good crowd, this is as good as any place in town. We went to two Nightgrass shows. The staff refused to clean up a pancake of puke on our "gallery" seats the first night even though we were 30 min early.
