Would never return. One of the worst Italian-American meals I've had in over a decade. The "rigatoni bolognese" was anything but that. What it was was some warmed over canned tomatoes with just a little bit of meat, served over unbelievably overcooked noodles. I could tell from the aroma as soon as the bowl was placed in front of me that I was going to be very disappointed. No depth of flavor, no seasoning, no precision. We should have also known we were in for some re-heated trouble when all the entrees arrived in less than ten minutes. You can't cook from scratch in that period of time. Yuck. This used to be one of my favorite pizzerias in the mountain village / telluride area. Really authentic Naples style thin crust high temp pizza and friendly manager. I honestly have no idea what happened to this restaurant this year. I spent about 40$ on raw pizza dough and uncooked toppings (minimal). The pizzas were supposed to be large, and I'm honestly glad they under-delivered because I didn't want to eat more. There is cheap grocery store mozz, what tastes like canned mushrooms, and what I think is canned sausage. Store bought frozen pizza is better. I can only surmise that the restaurant was sold due to covid as there is nothing in common between what it used to be and what it is now. If you have fond memories of this restaurant, PLEASE cherish them and never go back. read more

Not my favorite and probably the lesser meal of our Telluride visit. The restaurant is in an extremely convenient location. I think it's worth the little extra walk or gondola ride for another place though. We sat down outside on a Thursday night. I don't think the host notified the waiter we were there but we got their attention and they made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal after that. It was a little chilly and they also brought over a heater, which I appreciated. I got the Salsicca Bromina pizza. My girlfriend and I shared a Cesare salad and she got the Pollo Al Limone E Carciofi. Pretty basic salad and pizza. The pizza was definitely better hot out of the oven. I usually like cold pizza a lot but the few remaining slices weren't the same the next day. The pollo entree was salty to the point of being too much for even a normal lover of salty foods. That's saying something when my girlfriend thinks something is overly salty. I would've said something but she was too polite until it was too late. My Face Down Brown came in a can. That was a little disappointing, considering that's the local brewery. I'd hope the stuff is on tap. I'd also hope to get something more than a disposable plastic cup at a restaurant where the entrees average about $25. read more

Really good pizza! Definitely worth a stop in if you are in the Telluride mountain Village area! I love how they have that huge plaza set up outside for tables to eat at. Our server was very friendly, and everyone else there seemed nice. I hate to write a bad review... but the pizza here is just terrible. I got the Diovola, which the menu said was spicy salami (although it looks to me like pepperoni - you be the judge). It was greasy, had almost no taste, and left me just overall not feeling well. My wife got the vegetarian pizza and had maybe three bites. The waitress was really nice and it was pretty funny to see her confused look when we both didn't ask for a box to go. You would think in this town with that location and those prices ($29 for a chicken parm!) the food would be amazing, but sadly it is mediocre at best. Also, I don't really understand the backyard BBQ table clothes and plastic chairs/plastic cups for water. I'm not really into fancy restaurants but the chairs were uncomfortable and the table cloth was sticky. Bottom line - if you have little kids with you and are trying to save some money I could see going here I guess, but just know the pizza is terrible. I hope they can fix some of these things because this place has potential. read more

We went here during COVID-19 and they have a huge outdoor seating area. The service was really confusing, several people came over and were just sort of socially-awkward about taking our order. Their pizza prices are surprisingly pretty good, but the pasta prices seem overpriced. We ended up getting the Prosciutto pizza and the Lasagna to split between two people. The lasagna was good and came with a crunchy Cristina, the pizza was also really good, but I wish it had come with some arugula too or a fresh green element opposed to just Prosciutto. Between two of us, we finished everything but one piece of pizza, but we were definitely full! They also have a tone of wine, but only a few beers, however the beers they do have are only like $4! read more

On our recent visit to Colorado we stayed near Telluride in Mountain Village. As we wandered around the shops earlier in the day I had picked up a Take-Out menu for this restaurant - just in case! Ordered, picked up and devoured! This little gem of a restaurant is hidden up in Mountain Village and is pretty hard to find - even the people working in the main part of Mtn Village don't seem to know it's there. A passerby who heard us discussing it pointed us in the correct direction. How to find it: the gondola to Mtn Village drops you off in Heritage Plaza. You then have to walk over to where the ski lifts are, pass them, go up and around a path that connects you to Sunset Plaza, and it's right there. First off...the bread. The foccacia bread they brought to the table was delightful, and oil and balsamic were already on the table for dipping. My partner ordered the special which was a crab-stuffed ravioli in a pink vodka sauce, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the Pappardelle Aragosta, which was fat but flat pasta with white wine, garlic, tomatoes and olive oil. It was delightful. My only complaint about the food is that for $45 I expected larger serving. And I am a lighy eater who never finishes my food (maybe a third of my meal gets eaten onsite and I take the rest home), and I nearly finished my plate, so that should give you an idea of portion sizes. The two reasons I gave the restaurant 4 stars is because everyone we encountered at the restaurant did not speak English except the man who took our order, and I believe he was the manager and maybe owner. The young lady who brought our menus and water did not bring a wine list, and when I asked her if they had a cocktail menu or wine list, she said no even though we passed a bar. I asked again and she managed to tell me she didn't speak english. I got up to use tje restroom and passed a stack of wine lists, so I just grabbed one and brought it back to the table, but there were no cocktails. When the mgr/waiter came to take our order, I asked if they had a cocktail menu and he said no. My partner asked if they had a full bar and he said yes, they could make anything we wanted, so I asked if they could make an italian margarita and he said OK. When they brought my drink, it was a regular mexican margarita, and it was just an ok one at that. Then, when our food was brought out by the food runner, I asked for extra napkins and he didn't speak English and had to send the mgr/waiter over to ask what we needed. I am surprised that with alcohol sales being such a large part of a restaurant's revenue that they don't give diners italian cocktails to choose from - it's like leaving money on the table. So summary: hard to find, great food, a little pricey for the portion size, bread yum, difficult to communicate with staff, and a cocktail menu would be nice. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. I would never recommend that anyone go here. It is grotesquely overpriced. The food was way below average, and it's hard to imagine that these folks consider this to be fine Italian dining. The sauces were completely under whelming. The pasta was not handmade. It certainly was from a dry pasta probably from the local store down the street. They served us water in red solo cups. I'm not in college anymore. This is supposed to be fine dining, and there's no place in fine dining for red solo cups. The service was below average. I would recommend that no one go here because it was an absolutely terrible place to eat. This is a tourist trap if there ever was one. read more

In a nutshell: wow. They've combined menus with their sister restaurant, La Piazza, during the pandemic which I suspect has expanded the wine menu significantly for La Pizzeria. This was hands-down the best tiramisu we've had in 20 years. Not too sweet, noticeable coffee flavor, fantastic ladyfinger texture- everything we've been looking for. We also had a bottle of the 2018 Fontanabianca Dolcetto D'Alba which was absolutely amazing. Judging by the length of the wine list and the quality of this relatively inexpensive bottle, I suspect you couldn't go wrong with any of the wines. The diavola and salsiccia bormina thin crust pizzas were both perfectly cooked and tasty. We took everything to go since we were traveling with our dog, and the staff and owner were exceptionally helpful, kind, and speedy. We'll be back when we're in town again. read more

Excellent service and even better cuisine! We started with minestrone, which was so light and fresh!! Made daily! We also shared a salad with beets, walnuts and mixed greens. Very, very good! We thought that maybe the pizzas were more personal sized as the price is reasonable, but they were larger than we could handle! Again, everything was very fresh and arrived quickly. The staff was super attentive and very grateful for our business, we felt spoiled! Per recommendation, we split the tiramisu which was a perfect size for our full bellies! I stopped here for a light dinner the other night because it was raining, and had sausage pizza and gelato. I thought the pizza crust was quite good but that overall the pizza was more on the average side. (I am comparing this to other quality pizzas, not fast food pizza.) Fairly reasonably priced. The hazelnut gelato tasted a little odd to me, and I wonder if it has natural or artificial flavoring in it rather than just hazelnuts. I did not even finish the scoop. The soups that other people were eating looked nice, but $10 per bowl is a little expensive for vegetable soup unless I am sure it is really high quality. It's a nice casual atmosphere, so that part was good. All in all, it wasn't terrible, but I still doubt that I will go back. read more

Had lunch here with some local friends that love this place. I agree, this place is good. If you like Italian style thin crust pizza this is your place. We had the Margherita and Prosciutto and a Mista salad. Both pizzas had crispy crust and that classic Italian style to them. I liked the Prosciutto better. The salad was delicious (Mixed greens, Arugula, Tomatoes, Red Beets, Red Onions, Walnuts and Balsamic vinaigrette this provided some contrast to the salty pizzas we ordered. Noting the concerns of another review here, I thought I'd add my two cents -- this is a great addition to all the interesting choices for food in Telluride. This little sister restaurant to Piazza del Villagio on the plaza in the Mountain Village in Telluride is great fun. The pizza is real, authentic, Italian pizza from a wood fired hearth, as these owners do at their Rustico Ristorante in town. Food prices are reasonable, you can have a real Caesar salad as opposed to what passes for one in most American eateries, and there are gelatos for dessert for the whole family. Came here for lunch and was greeted immediately by a nice fellow who offered us either sparkling or flat water. The place itself is oddly decorated with orange chairs, green and yellow walls and blue checkered table clothes. We decided to start out with the mista and Cesar salads and split a margarita pizza. The salads with delicious and just $9 and $10 respectively. The margarita pizza was more like a New York style pizza which had a good amount of cheese and crust was flavorful along with the sauce. The usual margarita has basil but this had oregano but nevertheless was truly delicious and hit the spot. Not sure if some of the negative reviews but if you like chain style crappy pizzas like papa johns well this ain't the place for you. I'd stay clear of the pastas as they seem a bit overpriced. Lasagna for $24? Manicotti $21. I'll pass thank you. So stick with the pizzas you won't go wrong. read more

This is the best pizza in Telluride and I have had both Brown Dog and High Pie. The atmosphere is not as good as the two other restaurants but if you are looking for truly authentic pizza and Italian food, this is the place. Aside from my struggle to order a pizza with just cheese and sausage with the woman taking my order over the phone (apparently had to get it approved by the chef?) , our take out order of pizza and salad went smoothly and the pizza was delicious as was the salad. We brought a large group of people here for pizza. The staff was friendly and polite. Everyone enjoyed the pizza and had a good time. Their pizza is the thin crust variety. Not greasy at all. I feel that if a pizza place can make a plain cheese pizza taste good, it's a good restaurant. And, this place certainly makes a great cheese pizza.
