First time trying Luminous Nail Bar & there were 4 of us getting manicures. Two of us got our cuticles ripped up, one in the group selected a brown color and was given bright red, and the last girl had a huge dark spot in the middle of a very light grey nail that was overlooked and the color had to be completely removed and redone. They did offer beverages to everyone and they were all very nice, but the service was disappointing for us all. read more

had a nail appointment at luminous nail bar couple weeks ago. My daughter who owns her own shop in Michigan, usually does my nails, but was unable to fly in to do them so I went to get them done. They advertise gel X apparently they don't. They use builder gel totally different. I'm allergic and had a reaction. My daughter had to file this stuff off Sunday. It does not come off with acetone like other products do. I sent them an email requesting some feedback. They ignored me so here you go I'm gonna give a review letting people know that they do not use gel X products. I'm not sure if they don't know the difference, but builder gel is very bad for your nails and should not be used. Gel X is a specific brand. I believe they should take it off their menu as a service. read more

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. I really enjoyed my experience here. From the get go they offered me a drink. I didn't realize they have lots of options including alcohol. That was something I haven't experienced in a salon. My nail technician was great and helped me to pick the perfect nail design for my birthday. She made them so cute and I got so many compliments on them! I also got my eyebrows done and while they did a nice job, I broke out in acne all around my eyebrows. Finally, they charged me extra for my nail design which I expected, but I hate when places don't tell you they are going to charge and ask if it's okay. A plus was they gave me $5 off because it was my birthday! I appreciated that. Overall, I will come back next time I want to treat myself. read more

I went in at 5:40pm on a Friday when they close at 7pm for a short gel manicure. The employee that did my nails rushed me entirely, was laughing with other employees and commenting on my nails, making it seem like it wasn't going well. Then two employees were doing my hands simultaneously and pulling my hands out of the curing thing before they were done. Also their tools weren't fresh, he just half assed sanitized it. The whole place isn't that clean. Then, they did the hot towels and massage at the very end since they forgot. I almost didn't tip at all, but I did in the end. I couldn't have felt more unwelcome and there is almost no point to getting your nails done if that's how it's going to be. read more

I got a dip and the day of getting them done 3 nails cracked. The next morning I went in to get them fixed and the day I left for vacation they started to crack again. I had to take my car into the shop, so I decided to stop in while I waited on my car. My nail tech started removing my nails and prepping a new set. Halfway through the filing process, that nail tech left and I think every tech in the building proceeded to file/shape my nails. At one point, one of the techs was asking how to file my nails as she was filing. By the time I had a tech who knew what they were doing, my nails were so short I shouldn't have had to pay for the nail enhancements. Even the woman sitting next to me had two different nail techs during her appointment. She was also passed around mid filing/shaping. The whole process took over 2 hours and I only got a solid color. I paid way too much money for what I walked away with. It seemed like no one knew what they were supposed to be doing or knew where anything was. My usual nail gal was out sick, so I stopped in and had an appointment with LamChop who I believe is an owner. I'm a tad confused why the reviews are so poor, because I had a lovely experience. The salon itself is very clean and both staff and guests are asked to wear masks. The music was great, chairs are super comfortable, and I was treated with warmth/care. My dip was removed thoughtfully, despite it being from another salon. I showed Lam a picture of what I wanted and he delivered! I was in and out in about 90 minutes and my total was $110. This is more than what I usually pay, but my service included: soak off, shaping, dip, and gel design. I had an appointment and came when they opened but since they were opening the store at the same time I came in they were just rushing around pulling out chairs and I felt a little awkward. RIP OFF! I went in for a color change on my toes and a full dip set which ended up costing me $135 which I am still trying to wrap my head around. The top coat on my toes doesn't cover the nail and is not smooth. My nails and toes are 2 different colors even though they are the same brand and color number. I asked for an almond shape and got thick oval. The nails are longer on my left hand than my right. I am very disappointed and do not recommend this nail salon. read more

If I could go lower than one, I would. The point of asking for up front pricing is because you're expecting to receive a service for stated and agreed upon price. Two separate occasions with months in between, the same individual has over charged for services rendered. Months ago I was charged for taking off gel polish when I explicitly told the individual it was regular polish and when it came time to pay I was charged more than quoted. Yesterday, I simply needed two nails repaired, not overly long, no gel polish. I was quoted 14 just to repair those two. I was also quoted 38 to repair the two and change the nail polish (regular polish) on the rest of my nails. Because I had a prior engagement and I am planning to take the whole set off soon, I said go ahead and just do the repairs. The gentleman proceeds to fix the two nails. I go to pay and then he says it was 16. I asked how when he and another woman literally just quoted me 14. He proceeded to tell me each nail is actually 7.50. Even if that were the case, that still would have only been 15, but again, I asked UP FRONT and was told 14. When I asked why the additional fee I was told, "oh, that's because of the take off". I know this sounds trivial, but it's not about the money. It's the principle. While the amount quoted in my opinion seemed steep in the first place, I was paying for the convenience and was willing to pay what I was told UP FRONT. My issue lies in the me asking UP FRONT for pricing and being switched at the time of pay. If this were a one time occurrence, I'd be willing to overlook it, but since it has been twice with time in between (honestly the reason I hadn't been back), this leads me to believe this is a common practice. read more

Come here about every other week for pedicures and have had only great experiences. Find them to be some of the most detail-oriented nail technicians. Very clean inside. Acetone smell is there but it find it much reduced from other salons in town. Definitely recommend. read more

I'm so disappointed in my experience yesterday. I went in to get a dip mani and a regular pedi for a wedding I'm in this weekend back at home. My dip manicure looks absolutely awful. I've been getting dip for years and I've never seen such a bad job. I went in after not having a manicure/dip in a while, so naturally my nails were long, strong and healthy. Well, they certainly didn't leave that way - my nails were cut and filed so short and she applied the dip over the cuticle. The process she used to apply the dip was not like I've had it applied previously at other salons. And, I will caveat that I have a good idea of what I'm supposed to receive versus what the final product was because my sisters worked at a nail salon for four years, so I would consider them "know-it-alls" if you will. I assume she realized she wasn't familiar with applying dip because she got up midway and asked someone to take over lbecause her "stomach was hurting," but she stayed next to the new tech the entire time and talked to him in a different language. I'm not the type of person to complain about a service, but I got the sense they could tell I was displeased. A few times I pointed some things out, and she made a failed attempt to fix it, but they looked so bad either way so there was no fixing it. I'm so disappointed, truly and I can confidently say this experience and final product was not worth the $55. After seeing my nails I told them I wasn't staying for a pedicure and left. Long story short, this place is not worth your money, time or energy. It's quite possible you could get a better nail tech if you decide to go here, but considering how costly getting these services are now a days I would ensure going elsewhere is the best option! read more

I went here on a whim, being new to the city I've been trying to find someone who doesn't charge an arm and a leg for gel mani/pedi. My pedicure went great with Gabby. Super friendly, and did a great job. I usually hate the pedicure part, my feet are super sensitive. But Gabby noticed and went a bit lighter handed with her work. Then I got transferred to another nail tech for a acrylic set with gel polish bc Gabby did not do acrylic. Q was super nice & friendly also. Made me feel comfortable & kept convo going. He cut my natural nails with dirty nail clippers. They didn't appear to be sanitized in any way, they had dust all over them from previous customers. He applied tips, then acrylic powder. I noticed that he shaped them a bit odd, but figured it was just the way I was looking at them. Almond is typically the shape I get. While he was filing the acrylic to make it even he removed my cuticles with his electronic drummel.... It was painful because he was at a super high speed. I also noticed he used dirty drummels as well. He picked them out of a box of used ones. I started bleeding on 3 different fingers. I was confused as to why he decided to remove my cuticles AFTER he applied acrylic. He then applied something to my cuts to soothe or stop the bleeding that had been used on other customers as well... He then started to apply gel color without a Base coat. So just gel polish on top of acrylic. He did three coats and it looked awful... his manager came over to check his work & made him redo the gel polish. I got there at 10am and left at 1pm. When I paid, I was told it would be $155 for gel pedicure, full acrylic set with gel polish & a chrome powder over top. I was dumbfounded. Even after Q had to REDO the polish. They didn't even offer a discount for the time wasted. They were very nice, and so was I, but they could tell that I was super dissatisfied with their work. I got to my car and noticed that two of my nails are filed crooked. I will not be back. It's super unfortunate when you pay a lot of money, and aren't happy with a service. read more

I am disgusted by their customer service. I came a few weeks ago to get a pedicure and they accidentally gave me a gel pedicure. When I got home, the paint was not drying. I returned back two days later to correct it and they did it again- used gel instead of regular polish. When I returned for the third time to get it corrected, they charged me full price for another pedicure and told me they would only give me a 5 dollar off discount, leaving me to pay the full 40 dollars for a pedicure that they messed up in the first place. Visiting from another state and wanted to get my nails done for my birthday with friends and the manicurist that I was paired with didn't fully paint my nails , I paid and noticed how unfinished my nails were so I asked to please get them fully painted , I was told it was not going to look good so I attempted to demonstrate what I meant . The lady spoke behind our backs , one of the other ladies kept apologizing on their behalf for the unacceptable behavior. I went back and they did fix it for free but they weren't happy about it. Now only 3 days later another of my dip nails has broken. I am over it. It looks nice on the inside, but the quality of the service is very poor. I gave them 2 tries (with 2 different nail techs) since they are right across the street from where I live, but I will not be back. Both times I got a dip manicure and both times my nails peeled and chipped within a week of getting them done. I've NEVER had this happen when I've gotten a dip manicure in the past from other salons. Not sure if it's the product they use or the technique, but the manicure was definitely not worth $65.00. Also, before my second manicure with them, they had me soak half my hands in a bag of warm acetone for 10 or 15 min to get the polish off (instead of using a cotton ball and foil on each nail like I've had done at other places). I really tried giving this place a chance. I've never had a wait, but the service is entirely too slow. I got an SNS dip manicure. The stylist forgot I wanted a manicure and when I reminded her, she placed my hands in a bowl full of luke warm--maybe even chillier than that--water. They have a wide range of color selection, which doesn't make up for the fact that they use very dated tools. I was knicked about 7-8x while she prepped my cuticles, apologizing every time.... I took my mother here to get manicures and pedicures. They did our pedicures first and both of them did a great job. She got a regular pedicure and I got gel - no real complaints there. However, the same woman did her manicure and she did a terrible job, to the point where my mother pointed out how bad it looked and asked her to fix it. The woman did not understand or speak English very well at all so she clearly did not get what my mother was saying. I've attached a picture - she got a French and the white line was so ridiculously thick on each nail, especially the thumb nails, and she didn't fix her cuticles at all. She did redo the thumb nails and did the exact same thing that time. The woman at the front desk agreed that it looked terrible, and offered to have someone else do them for my mom for free on a different date. The problem is that she does not live here and is only visiting, so we paid $20 so that she could go home and remove the polish and have bad looking cuticles. I would avoid. read more

Got my nails (dip) done on Saturday, these are them 5 days later. I've tried this place so many times, and it's always a 50/50 chance that they'll look good/last more than a week. Loan is amazing there, but unfortunately I went to get my nails done last minute and they were with other clients. It wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't great... for me. My technician rushed through the whole process cutting my cuticles and my actual skin. She would not take my nails shorter and did the shape she thought would look best. The nail polish is not and even shade and splotchy in some areas. She left before my nails were done curing in the lamp. Turns out that she missed a step because they were sticky and another technician had to fix them. However, my friend had a great experience with Lam. He was AMAZING! Her nails look professional. The shaping and the application of the polish is perfect.
