Really enjoyed our experience at Luna Grill. The owners did a great job with the interior design. Large booths with nice tables line the window sides of the dining area, there is a raised bar type of table in the middle surrounded by small tables and booth/tables on the outside, so no matter how big or small your group, there will be a place to sit. The interior is warm, inviting and a mix of modern and old, very cool feel. The food was great. My wife and I tried the gyro/chicken patter, it was huge. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the spice level was spot on. The gyro meat was thin enough that each bite has a little bit of maillard reaction on the tips, very tasty. The lettuce was not overdressed and all the veggies were fresh and crisp. If you are looking for a great meal for a good price, give Luna Grill a go. read more

Was really excited to try this place, but it turned out to be a total disappointment. I ordered the chicken sirloin kabob plate. The salad tasted bitter, the rice was super bland and undercooked, the pita bread was really hard, the "sirloin" was the worst! It was burnt like charcoal and I really didn't like the flavor at all. The only good thing on my plate was the chicken. The chicken was moist and had good flavor. The pita bread literally made a clanking noise in the plate, the moment I picked up the bread I felt how hard it was. Why serve that to a customer? The staff was also very rude and unprofessional. The only staff member that was actually doing there job was a younger guy; unfortunately I didn't catch his name. He was very helpful. Every other staff member I encountered was rude and snippy. When I walked up to the register/counter area to ask for my bread to be replaced the girl told me hold on, and then turned back around to clearly finish having a personal conversation. I was really taken aback by this. I stood there for about a minute when I finally just spoke up. I'm the customer being forced to wait for a quick fix on a food issue so you can finish your personal conversation, seriously?!? I already was upset that my dinner was ruined and I wasted my money on this horrible food, but then I get bad customer service to top it off. Needless to say I won't be coming back to Luna Grill, and will not be recommending them. Another FYI this place is outrageously priced for the bland food you get. I eat out every night and have been to numerous mediterranean grill's from Westlake to Augora to Thousand Oaks, and they all were way cheaper than Luna Grill. We placed a delivery order through the Luna Grill website, but what we received was not what we ordered. When I called Luna Grill, they told me it was a problem with Postmates (the company that handles their deliveries), and that I would need to contact Postmates to resolve the issue. When I told the Luna Grill person I thought this was poor customer service, the person repeated that I needed to contact Postmates and then hung up the phone! I have eaten at Luna Grill several times and have been very happy with their food and the cleanliness of their restaurant. After this experience, I will never order delivery from Luna Grill again and am likely to never return to their restaurant. There are so many other options. read more

Remember the phrase "JUMP THE SHARK"? Back in the day there was a sit-com called Happy Days. "Jump the shark" refers to a turning point episode when THE FONZIE jumps a Jet Ski over a shark. It truly was the lamest moment in TV history unexpected from a TV Show expected of higher standards. Like Happy Days, my happy days at Luna Grill are similarly over. Yes-I had many meals there that were delicious and inspiring. But then they brought in the Shark. Let's face it as a gyro expert I quickly dismissed Luna's strange mystery meat and had been ordering the salmon. I knew it was frozen farm-raised crap but somehow with all the sides it made it seem delicious. Then the shark bit. While the salmon was still somewhat edible they DO charge a whopping 15.03 with tax for it. So for me the sides made up the difference in cost. But now I see it. Cheap wilting bag lettuce and translucent gross old tomatoes not fit for man, woman nor beast. I haven't even seen tomatoes that bad on a Subway crappy sub sandwich (And those are $5!). Luna Grill jumped MY shark. If the "Chef" thinks that because I ordered "TO-GO" I won't drive all the way back to complain and they have the guts to throw disgusting second rate produce on my plate well----then Luna Grill doesn't deserve to waste space in Ventura. Mr. Shark are you listening? There are a ton of great restaurants now in Ventura with better salmon and impressive sides. You don't wanna take a bite outta this Luna crap. So bite me. read more

Great Mediterranean food. Their quality of meat and from the chicken to the sirloin is perfect. Their meat was not over cooked and not dry. My husband and I decided to try this place out recently. I got a gyro plate and he got a beef/chicken plate. The food was very fresh and the meats had very good flavors. The restaurant was clean and the employees were friendly. When I called my order in, the employee didn't know the price of anything and said I would just "get the total" when I picked it up. It Ended up costing $28 for two plates which seemed a bit pricey, especially considering we didn't even get drinks. But, the portion sizes were good so at least that made up for it. All in all, it is a good option for clean and fresh tasting food. However, it is very California-ized "Mediterranean" food. If you have ever had authentic Mediterranean cuisine, this is a far cry from it. As long as you don't go in expecting it to be super authentic, you won't be disappointed. read more

Giving Luna Grill- 3 stars for the food and 5 stars for cleanliness, decor, and service. My first visit was on a super hot day and their AC felt soooo good. I was greeted promptly, genuinely, and dealt with patiently through all my questions about the menu. Being part Greek, I am very familiar with traditional Mediterranean food. Luna has some interesting twists, like a gyro quesadilla. The place is sparkling clean and seating very comfy.Those red chairs and the silverware chandeliers really perk up the decor. I chose a gyro plate and subbed fries for the rice, which looked too bland to me. Those fries were spot on authentic to the ones I grew up with- thin and oh so crisp. The salad was just picked fresh and dressed nicely, not too much dressing. The gyro meat serving was humongous, not greasy at all- a tad on the dry side, in fact. Three triangles from a small round of pita for this plate was super skimpy, in my opinion. Ran out of bread way too soon. My main issue, and where you know this is a chain restaurant, not a family run restaurant, is the amount of salt used. The tzatziki didn't really taste traditional. It was so thick and oversalted to the point it overcame the tangy zip of the yogurt base. It also needed more parsley and lemon. Fries were over salted too but still were good because they were served hot and crispy. I liked having the choice of carrots or tomatoes as a garnish. I will go back and try something else next time. Overall, I'm happy there's some mediterranean food on the east side of town and am happy Luna Grill is there. read more

Have had many good meals at this restaurant but tonight takes the cake for one of the worst. Usually their chicken wrap features a generous serving of roasted chicken in a soft and delicious pita bread seasoned with a special sauce and topped with lettuce and tomato. Tonight I picked up two wraps and both had a dry pita wrapped around them. The pita has been grilled so it was tough and dry, there were no greens in the wrap, just one measly, greenish, small tomato. The packaging has gone from a nice recyclable plastic tray in a carry bag to a sheet of waxed paper wrapped around the sandwich and a small box for the side dish. Talk about cheap! Carry out is in a smallish brown bag. The food was not good. The packaging lame and I cannot support this company any more. it's very sad because I have catered many meals from here in the past and they've been great. It's gone sadly downhill and taken the low road for customer satisfaction. Bad news all around for me and for them. I don't know what happened but something certainly did. read more

I've eaten here several times, and have enjoyed it. I liked the chicken wrap and the falafel. Today, however, I got the Mediterranean chicken salad. It was inedible. The chicken was fine, but the rest of the salad was an over dressed, soggy, sour mess. The salad is supposed to be greens with Israeli couscous and feta cheese. There were almost no greens, and way too much couscous and feta. I ended up throwing almost all of the "salad/goo" out. It was really disappointing. I can recommend the kebabs, the chicken wrap and the falafel, but definitely not the Mediterranean chicken salad. read more
