Owner Richard Williams went to Italy to study the advanced art of REAL Italian pizza, which is not very similar to the Americanized version you're used to. I stumbled across this place by chance, and found it amazing. The atmosphere is very welcoming and you can see a lot of thought went into making the surroundings beautiful and "Italian." Richard was there, working alongside the staff, mingling with customers. When my pizza arrived fresh from the oven, I could not believe my taste buds. They take no shortcuts here! It's the real thing, and good luck finding a pizza this good in the States, outside a major metropolitan area. Excellent Neapolitan pizza - well balanced sauce and nice char on the crust from the wood fired oven. We enjoyed a 'pizza with sauce and cheese' and a 'crisp eggplant' (was a little nervous about the eggplant as they are large slabs but they were perfectly fried and tender). Both pies were delicious. Salad options are limited so we combined a 'dressed greens' and a 'panzanella' which worked great. This is one of those things where I must have avoided it for so long because I love it so much and I was trying to gatekeep... although that's not really a thing if you're familiar with Greenville, NC. This is a downtown staple, right next to Pitt St Brewery. Pizzas are great and tiramisu even better. Probably my favorite thing on the menu, and the thing I crave the most often, is their salad with croutons, marinated tomatoes, salami, etc. Service is always great. Luna is a great lil artisan pizza joint. Food. The real star of the show is the eggplant appetizer. The eggplant is very crispy. The cheese is very cheesy. Combined together they make for the perfect combination of hot and tasty. The pizza is also very good but could be better. The complaint in a few of the reviews is that the crust in the middle is a bit oversauced and soggy. Those reviews are correct. If they can fix that I would bump the review up to a 5. Vibe. The buildout is nice. It is very intimate and well appointed. It is the perfect spot for a date or just hanging out with friends and family. In town for our kids soccer tournament and so glad we chose this place for lunch. I would not be surprised if the owner had made a few trips to Naples, Italy...the pizza is reminiscent of that area. Such a cute and yummy pizza cafe! Love the atmosphere! The owner provided my young children with tattoos and a small bucket of toys to play with! I consider myself a bit of a pizza snob, having grown up in New Haven, CT and being so close to NYC. Ive had some terrible Napoleon pizza before and Luna is absolutely amazing and my absolute favorite! The basil was so fresh and the mozzarella chunks were so tasty. My husband ordered a 2nd dinner for him (which he usually does to "try" around) and ordered the Spaghetti with Meatballs....well what arrived was one (1) Meatball, Spaghetti overcooked, and barely any sauce!!! Come on; a basic Spaghetti w. Meatball and that can not even be prepared correctly? Let's talk about the size. My husband assumed that I ordered a "Kid's Meal" because the "Meal" came in a little squared white plastic box that is usually used to put 1 small piece of cake inside and NOT an ENTIRE meal!!!!! We also ordered the expensive Tiramisu and that is the ONLY Positive that it tasted good......BUT the price of 1 tiny piece is not worth the Delivery order. We could have purchased true authentic Italien food from our Italien Supermarket online and it would have been cheaper and had more quantity and quality!!!! We usually do NOT provide negative feedback for privately owned businesses because it's normal that a restaurant has a "bad day" but common all items that were ordered/delivered were either not edible, no quality vs price. Very sad that we can not add Luna to our special & regular Date Night delivery. At the end we paid $83,- for 2 people that ended up not eating any of the food other than my husband that ate both of our Tiramisu. Despite being salty, the foot-long Cannon was awesome and two full meals. Great meatballs and sauce smothered in cheese. Heated up nicely the next day. Sorry, not as passionate about the chewy dough with nothing special toppings of a highly priced 12 inch pizza. Maybe we just aren't the artisan pizza types. I'd be willing to give this place another try, I'd like the experience of eating inside. From what I saw of the inside and the full bar, it looks like this old Coca-Cola bottling company would be great fun. I love this place. It is a great spot for folks to experience the greatest pizza in Greenville. Everything about this restaurant is fresh- inviting and so comforting. This place gets an A for effort and a C for execution. The wine from a box is not good. It is cheap, but not good. They used to pour a decent glass. The pizza is fair. Crust and sauce ok, the mushrooms piled high were pretty much raw. Picked them off. Salad get the mixed greens. Very good. I ordered 2 salads. The other one had crouton made from cement. Bottom line, it's pizza. If you want to offer a higher end experience, the details are important. It appears this place stopped caring. On the bright side, everything is fixable. read more

The only problem with this restaurant is it's a one-hour drive from our home in New Bern! We read about Luna's in "Our State" magazine and desperate for a real Neopolitan pizza, (other than my own homemade), we drove to Greenville today. We share a meatball starter and it was better than Mamas so we placed a second order to take home with us. My wife had a Proscuitto & Arugula pizza and I had the Margarita. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection in their 1250 degree oven. I give Luna's 5-stars and although it's a 2-hour RT, I declare it to be our "go-to," pizza restaurant when I haven't made my own dough, but feel like pizza! PS - Our server, Stephanie contributed to the great experience as did John, one of the owners and pizza chef, who took time to explain some aspects of their oven and his training in Firenze (Florence). read more

HORRIBLE WAIT TIME TO RECEIVE MY FOOD! Me and some friends went here for dinner on 9/28/2024 and ended up waiting almost 2 hours to receive our food after the waitress had taken our order. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen but it was absolutely ridiculous. I don't know if they were short staffed in the kitchen or if management is just that bad but there is no excuse for it. The only good thing about my experience was the waitress keeping drinks filled and being kind. I will not be suggesting this place to anyone. read more

Before coming here I checked the menu and loved how they had panzanella, parmigiana/melanzane and panna cotta. And of course pizza! If you have to order anything, let it be pizza. It is a pizza place after all. Skip the appetizers because you can get pretty stuffed with just eating one. The pizza dough is soft and I dare say has a traditional texture to it. Another nice thing about this pizza place is that you can choose your own base: tomato or white sauce. And for those who suffer from heartburn or esophageal issues, being able to choose an alternative to a tomato-filled pizza is a big deal. Yay to the pizza. Please don't come here if your idea of good pizza is Pizza hut or Dominos. The pizza here will leave a true Italian impressed. Definitely come here for the pizza! Service is well-timed and prompt. Hip and trendy and perfect for a young professional's budget - not too sure it's prices are made with college students in mind. Clean place, good selection of wine and draught beer. Their appetizer melanzane needs a bit of work with the besciamella sauce cus it was a bit crumbly and almost had a texture of scrambled eggs. As you can see on the photo, it was also flooded with tomato sauce on top running off to the side. It could also benefit from more of the melted parmesan cheese. It was a good attempt on my favorite dish but it was definitely an "appetizer" - leaving me wanting to go straight to the main meal. Panzanella salad is really a salad made with stale or leftover bread. Which is a really tasty salad if done right. But the bread they used is too stale to be even made into a salad. Too hard and dense. Too much cucumbers on it too. Maybe more fresh basil leaves perhaps? If it wasn't for the mozzarella cheese and salami cubes, I'd think I'm actually eating Greek salad. Panna cotta with salted caramel syrup another favorite Italian dessert of mine. My go-to dessert when I invite friends over to my home. The panna cotta here wants to be panna cotta but is almost like milk jell-o. It's not as creamy as a custard should be. Maybe the salt (on the caramel syrup) should be less big? The salt that size is too empowering. It nearly masked the whole flavor of the caramel. Ugh. Desperately wanted to love this place. I may have just ordered the wrong stuff. Sigh. read more

Hm. Where should I start.. the only thing the was good was the Host and Server asking did we need help. I ordered a $17 pizza that was cut into four slices. The pizza was soggy overly sauced.. I also ordered an appetizer of mushrooms yuck. I've never in my life had a pizza so nasty. Paying $51 for 2 pizzas, appetizer and a salad was not worth it. The salad didn't even have any lettuce most cubes of cheese and 20 cherry tomatoes and like 6 pieces of hard sausage/ham I don't even know what it was. But that is my first and last time dinning at this restaurant. I was so disappointed I actually could've eaten a frozen pizza from the dollar store. I wish I could give a negative star. Maybe if the pizza was cooked longer in the stone cooking oven thing it might have been okay. Over all it was a 1/5 for me. read more

While in town for my son's piano recital, we decided to eat at Luna being that it was right around the corner from where we were staying. Upon entering, they have outside seating options and the inside is just the right size. The staff was very professional and the place was clean. I ordered the cucumber martini, rather low in volume from what I am use too, however it was delicious. My son order the pepperoni, fancy type, and cheese. He enjoyed it.
