I paid $70 for leftovers!! To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. With 4 out of 5 stars, I have to assert that my fellow yelpers got it all wrong. We ordered Chicken Marsala and Mushroom Ravioli; while I'll save the conceptual short comings of each dish for another day, i will say that the execution for each, very basic dish was atrocious. Chicken was rubbery and clearly had been cooked at least a 24 hours beforehand as was the case with the accompanying roasted vegetables, which were barely warmed through, dry and dehydrated in appearance...which also indicates reheating. Ravioli was clearly not house made and utterly unimpressive for their $18 price tag. The plating for each dish looked as if it were done by a a feral baboon. I have seen more successful dishes from the outtakes of Master Chef Jr. The experience overall was unsatisfying. This place is not reaching for any sort of potential, quite a shame. read more

The pasta here was to die for! I had the penne arrabiata my bf had the romana (I believe that's what it was called) I'm not a big fan of tomato but my pasta had a great flavor to it and his was garlic which I loved! The restaurant is on the small side but it wasn't loud so I didn't mind. Our server was nice and attentive as well. read more

I love this place. My friend and I ended up going there randomly one day a few years ago on a whim, turned out to be one of the best food finds EVER. Its always nice a quiet inside with some old school mellow Italian music playing over the sound system. The staff is small but they're pretty on top of things. First time visiting, I tried the Cannelloni just cause I thought the name sounded cool... It ended up being my favorite Italian dish of all time hands down! Terrible place. I ordered the bolognese pasta through door dash which gives the gluten free fettuccine pasta because I have a gluten intolerance. Instead we received gluten penne pasta. I always used to drive by this place on my daily commute and I'm so happy i finally decided to stop by! Amazing food, great options, nice wine collection, and super family friendly staff. The customer service in this restaurant is terrible. I wanted to try something new and made reservations through OpenTable. Once I got to the restaurant I said I had reservations and my name. The host made an ugly fave and said I didn't have reservations. I proceeded to say I made reservations through OpenTable and tried to show them my phone. The host said no.. you don't have reservations. Another employee came to me and said we are busy enough so we don't pay OpenTable anymore. The restaurant had a few tables and could of easily accommodated my party. Instead they spent all the time trying to argue with me about not having a reservation. At the time I made the reservation, I didn't know that they didn't use OpenTable to make reservations, since that restaurant appeared as an option in OpenTable. Moral of story, if you want horrible customer service, go to this restaurant and don't make reservations for them through OpenTable. read more

The service received was above what you would expect BC (before Covid). Ford was friendly, attentive, and great company! Mind you, my family and I walked in towards the end of the evening, honestly, the kitchen was likely ready to close. We were only coming in for a glass of wine to kill some time. He allowed us to come in, and we wound up having a couple glasses of wine, a small bite, and a couple ports as well. He made us feel at home, felt like we weren't an inconvenience, and genuinely made our evening that much better. Everything was amazing!! We ordered the ceasar salad, bruschette salmone, zuppa cream of butter squash, caprese, crab and artichoke ravioli with champagne cream sauce and braised lamb with cherry sauce. Every dish was very tasty and well served. Excellent service, nice ambiance, Tuesday night was perfect (not a lot of people dinning) and hostess kept everyone far from each so we all had privacy. Very cute Italian place. Amazing food! One of the best places I've ever been to. We ordered the Carbonara and the Con Salciccia and both dishes were AMAZING! The dessert however was even more amazing! The portion sizing was perfect. And the pricing was very good. We thought we would leave almost $100 but turned out to be $60 and that's with appetizer, 2 main dishes, dessert and drinks. It was our first time there and we will definitely be coming back soon. My wife and I absolutely love coming here for a dinner date night. The food is so amazing and the service staff is very friendly. Normally we start with a Bruschetta. Then we both always order a caprese salad to start with and for the main dish we order the gnocchi con salcicca (sometimes it's not on the menu but you can still ask to order it). Their gnocchi taste so fresh and the sauce to so good. This place is a most go too. read more

This is our new go-to for Italian in Pleasant Hill... Our server was friendly and honest with his recommendations which we really appreciated and the food was as beautifully presented as it was delicious. Hubs loves bruschetta so he started with that and we shared the spinach and apple salad to start. Hubs got the veal marsala which was ALMOST tender enough to cut with a fork and l had mushroom ravioli that was dressed in marsala sauce. Although a bit bold & heavy (for me), the meals were delicious and you could taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. We were too full for dessert but hubs insisted we take some home for later. And l'm glad we did. The cheesecake was LIGHT and delish and hubs loved the tiramisu. Overall, the quality of Luna is on point and not super expensive! (For all that food and 2 glasses of wine, the tab was about $80) Definitely recommend this place!! read more

I wish I could give 5 stars, but I have to be honest. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 is because it took us a long time to get a drink menu (we had already had the food menu and knew what we were ordering), and to get our drinks, to get our order in in general... our entrees took awhile to get and I guess it was just a long experience in general. I'll put it this way, it took 90 minutes from the start of our reservation being seated to the moment entrees were being served at our table. To be fair, we did eat 2 appetizers and a salad during this 90 min wait for entrees. We were a party of 4 on a Saturday evening. It was busy, we made reservations ahead of time. I highly recommend making reservations on a weekend night... not sure about weeknights. But, our indoor table was given to a walk in right ahead of our turn with the hostess. Fortunately, it was a really nice evening so sitting outside worked out. It took about 15-20 minutes of sitting at the table with water to have a server come up and ask if we had been helped yet (by another server). The food though.... DELICIOUS!!!!! Highly recommend the goat cheese garlic bread and beet salad. I'd go back just for those two items. But, everything that was ordered was incredible, tasty and you can tell that each plate was made with care, freshness and quality. The owner was cooking that night and he came out to introduce himself and make sure everything was good - he did ask if we had to wait a long time but I don't think anyone had the heart to say so because he was so kind, appreciative and genuine. All in all, I would (and will) be back again and again and again because the food is AMAZING!!! I recommend anyone to give the restaurant a try! read more

Not only was the food so incredibly good, but the staff treated us like family. We had the best experience there. Our waiter was so kind and we enjoyed talking to him very much but we also had lots of privacy and did not feel rushed on our date at all. I loved the Chicken Marsala. My newly husband and I found this place about 4 years ago and have since introduced many of our family and friends to it. We recently we're married on July 20th (very short notice) and we're told by another restaurant that they could not accommodate us. Well a week and a half before the big date we had nowhere to take our family and close friends for a reception Let me tell you not only did the staff accommodate us, they opened up an hour early , had our cake and seating perfectly. Just had the best lil dinner from Luna, and I'm even more excited about my leftovers for tomorrow (they give you plenty). Started with the spinach salad. Delicious! I also had the goat cheese garlic bread....YUMMY! For my entree I had the chicken pesto and it was tasty. I ordered on door dash and my philosophy is if it's good on door dash it's probably even better in person. I will order again! I had heard great things about this restaurant so my husband and I decided to try it on a Thursday night around 7. The service was very slow and took about an hour to get our plates. There were a few other parties but it wasn't extremely busy. My husband got the raviolis and he loved them, I got the pesto and it was good but nothing amazing that would bring me back. I walked into Luna at about 7pm on Saturday night with a friend of mine, we noticed a sign out front that said fresh oysters and right then, i already knew what i was going to order. Little did i know that the sign should have been taken down because they were already out of them, which to me is rediculous considering its only 7pm on a Saturday night. So we start with an app and drinks and as I'm shopping my drink i notice a bug in my drink. Not a big deal, it happens often, so i discreetly flag down the waiter and have him bring me a new one. Then we order our entree, she orders a steak and i order the veal, now once again, this is only 7pm on a saturday.... and 10 minutes after i order, the waiter was only then informed to let me know that they are also out of veal... great, so i order a seafood dish that was ok, fish was a little over done but everything was good, her steak looked ok, clearly a flat top grill in the kitchen because the steak looked oily. I ordered a side of meatballs that ended up looking delicious, bbbuutttt tasted like uncooked, unseasoned, just disgusting little balls of nasty. Now as we were waiting for our bill, we kept having to wait on the waiters that were constantly in conversation at the end of the bar and completely ignoring people. When we finally got the bill we noticed that, not even the drink with a big in it has been comped. Im not charity care but common practice in my experience has been to at the very least, take that off the tab. Oh, and they screwed up making my drink the first time. This place used to be an absolute favorite for many people i know and even for myself, but after this. Ill never be back, and I'm absolutely talking everyone i know of this shit experience and how far down this place is sinking. Goodluck Luna, you need it. read more

I highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely fit for foodies, in my opinion, and it is worthy of 4.5 stars. Our party of 5 ALL had a memorable meal. My mista salad, braised short ribs, and chocolate lava cake were all top-notch. The Chianti Classico wine was wonderful. I will definitely return! Yes, meals come out of the kitchen on the slower side and yes an excessive amount of time did transpire between the main course and dessert. Both of these events can likely be attributed to a smaller operation. There was one female waiter who had assistance from 2 busser types that delivered food, re-filled water glasses, etc. The owner also waited tables as needed. I suspect he has only a couple chefs in the kitchen but cannot confirm this. My biggest complaint was the owner seemed to greet those seated diners that were his regulars. We were completely ignored by him which made me feel a tad uncomfortable because the restaurant is small and he greeted diners at most of the tables around us. The service from our waiter and support staff was excellent, however. It would also be nice if we had been thanked upon leaving but that didn't happen either. All in all, a great meal. read more

We came here on a Sunday night to celebrate two birthdays. With 4+ stars, how could you go wrong? We made reservations the day before. When we arrived at our reservation time, our table was not ready. It was a short wait (5 mins), so we did not mind. We were seated without menus. We waited another 10 minutes before handed menus. Another 10 minutes goes by and we were given water. Another 10 minutes goes by and we were asked if we wanted bread and we said yes. Within 5 minutes we were asked what we wanted to order for dinner. We placed our order, and asked about the bread, and was told we would get it immediately. We waited another 10 minutes and asked where the bread was. We told the waiter this was the 3rd time we have asked for bread. Within 30 seconds, we had bread! Miracle! It has now been 45 minutes since we finally got bread and our dinners were also being brought to the table. The food was "okay" (nothing to write home about), but our time was largely spoiled by the SLOW SERVICE. I would say that the service was sub-par, especially for a place like this that tries to give a high-end appearance. In all fairness, the place was busy. BUT, this is a small restaurant and they had at least 3 servers. We felt largely ignored, especially by the younger female server (perhaps because she was not assigned to our table?). I would ABSOLUTELY NOT return. This place is NOT cheap. There are so many more options available that offer a better experience and higher quality food than that served here. Two stars because the food was "meh, okay". Service leaves much to be desired (unless you enjoy being ignored). If you like slow service and mediocre food, then this is the place for you. Went there to have their black truffle raviolis. Seated ourselves and ordered bruschetta and also ordered pesto dip. The bruschetta was horrible! It was mushroom and powdered Parmesan cheese and the bread was way over crunchy. They served the pesto dip which had huge chunks of garlic and only pesto infused olive oil with scant amount of parm cheese. They served it with NO bread just a sloppy plate of oil and garlic chunks. I ordered the black truffle raviolis to go, left and came back to pick them up and they said" they never put my order in" This place has gone down hill really bad. I used to love this place and was visiting from Las Vegas and was dying to have their raviolis again but I'll never step foot in that place again. Too bad read more

what a fantastic restaurant!!! first time eating here. I stumbled across this place today. i'm not familiar with the area, so if you blink you may miss it. Its off a one way street. We went in around 1:30 and didn't realize they stopped serving lunch at 2pm. The nice man which i think was the owner, said no problem. come on it. there was another couple that also was there at the same time. I guess since it was raining today, it may have been slow. what can i say, quiet lovely place with soft music. The service was excellent!! the menu and the daily specials were mouth watering. I wanted 1 of everything. they really put personal touches to the meals. It is hard to find a great Italian restaurant. We had a great bottle of wine, yummy cheese bruschetta to start and this time we managed to have time for dessert, and I am so glad because it was wonderful. ORIGINAL: I was very impressed! We came for a quick dinner pre-show and ended up missing half the opening act because we just couldn't tear ourselves away. I know we could have gotten out on time (service was totally on the ball), but we just didn't want to. I had the best arrabiatta Ive had in the US at Luna. I did ask for it extra spicy but it was PERFECT. The only way it could have been perfecter was with home made pasta, but that's not easy to come by! I also liked the selection of bruschetta, although the brie and carmelized onions were not quite the to-die-for dish I envisioned from reading it on the menu. However, it was still very good. We had a special salad that was phenomenal - the perfect mix of greens, fruits, nuts and cheese. The wine list was a nice representative of Italian wines. I wish we had had the time for dessert - I bet they are great. I know where we are going with my Alamo-based parents next together! read more
