Luna Rossa is officially the new favorite restaurant for my fiancé and I! The atmosphere and the service was so refreshing and on point...but the food?? Incredible! My fiance had the penne a la vodka and I had the cioppino and we shared both. Hands down the best we've had. Absolutely will be back to try the Pizza. This is a cute little spot if you want to have a date night that isn't too expensive. The patio has tons of heaters and live music so the atmosphere is perfect. Inside is set up nice but not quite as romantic feeling. The food all was good except our entree, it took so long that we didn't get it. But we started with the small Caesar salad, which is not that small! It's big enough to split. Also with calamari, it was lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed that when they brought the bread they brought polenta sauce as well, it was a nice touch that was a little different. The only downfall of this place was service, the service was very slow and didn't communicate very well to us. He didn't make any suggestions. He also didn't communicate what was going on with our food, why our entree was taking over 40 minuets. The server assistant on the other hand was awesome! read more

Our waiter was very sweet and personable. Portions were good and tasty, but prices of wine was expensive and corkage fee was a whopping $25. Our group got a variety of dishes from pastas, eggplant parmigiana, bruschetta, another bread dish with cheese and sliced meat. We all had left overs to take home, but no one was raving about the food. My eggplant was not the normal eggplant parmigiana I'm used to(consistency and salty taste did not remind me of eggplant) Nice location next to AMC theater, which we went to immediately after, but I'm not sure this is a place I'd choose to go on my own. read more

Conveniently located in the District next to the movie theater, this place is really easy to find! A cute small pasta place with somewhat reasonable prices and many vegetarian accommodations. There was a bit of confusion when we were first seated, we waited 10-15 min before getting up to go find a server which was a little annoying since the restaurant was pretty empty. We went with the kids to have our first iunch out in may be 4 months.. CDC guidelines were executed properly.Tables were distant. Service was made with proper protective equipment like masks. My friends and I went here for a birthday dinner. While the service was good... the food? ;( The pasta wasn't cooked thoroughly. I mean I like my pasta al dente but the penne was just hard like cardboard. We had to return it and I usually don't ever do that. The pizza? I was a big fan of their spaghetti clams... however this time it's a bit disappointing and lackluster. Spaghetti texture and cook is perfect, but they've changed their clams. A lot smaller, not fresh, (some tasted spoiled) and not cleaned properly. Nobody likes crunching down on bits of sand while chewing their food and the sauce was bland and barely there. The lasagna was an even worst. Second time we've gotten it and no better than the last. I've never been to the physical location but holy smokes this pizza is good! The price is steep but the quality makes it worth every single penny. Our server called my friend "princess" for requesting paper napkins, told me not to eat too much bread, and asked if we would like our entree to-go. Our main entree took an hour to come out. We were extremely put off by his passive aggressive remarks. He would also continuously go inside and speak to another server who would then come out to where we were sitting and stare us down. Is it because we are female, or because my friend is Asian? Either way after spending $80 on two appetizers, a salad, and one entree, we will NEVER return to this place. If you don't want to serve all customers alike, put a "closed" sign on your doors. We will happily spend our money elsewhere. read more

Last night was our second visit to Luna Rosa and probably our last. It was extremely expensive for the quality of the food. The service was mediocre at best. There were 6 of us and we arrived at 5PM. We were seated right away and water was served. We waited about 20 minutes for the waiter to return. There was not enough silverware on the table, and we had to track down our own. In the meantime, two other tables were seated and received bread and cocktails, before our waiter returned. We finally asked if there was a server assigned to our table. I ordered a pasta dish and paid $5 extra for mixed vegetables, which turned out to be mostly carrots, and a few mushy broccoli pieces. One person had the risotto with shrimp, and she was lucky enough to get three shrimp. We had to ask for refills of water and we gave up asking for a second round of drinks. We brought a cake in since we were celebrating birthdays and the waiter was kind enough to bring it out with a knife and plates, but we had to flag someone down for forks. The restaurant was not particularly busy until after 8, so it was hard to understand the slow service. The food was just okay, but for the price, I expected something much better. Would not recommend this place and definitely will not be back. read more

Love coming here! It's clean and inviting. They have a good size menu and I've never had anything that wasn't delicious! The staff is so friendly too! We sat outside on a beautiful day for lunch. I had the pasta with sausage, mushrooms, and onions and they were able to make it gluten-free. It was fantastic. A huge portion, but with a perfect tasting red sauce. My wife had the pasta with creamy pink vodka sauce. Again, just a fantastic meal. We ordered a pizza to go for the kids and they were very happy we did. Service was fast, helpful and smart. And the food was served quickly so we could get back to work. Came here after bowling with my family for my birthday. We were seated within 10 min water and bread was brought then we sat there for 28 min couldn't get anyone's attention! We did the awkward stare of hey we need to order the awkward waive but no one stopped. At this point my kids were over it and wanted to go home. They were losing patience sitting there so we went to the bar to ask if we can just pay for the water and bread because we did eat that. The waiter then apologized and said he saw sitting there but thought somebody else had took it and wasn't aware. We left which I have never done in my entire life! I have never gotten up and left restaurant due to service or lack of for that matter. I go to Italy 2 times a year, this is the closest your going to get as far as authentic Italian cuisine here in the OC. Good sauce!! The Cannolis are to die for. I think it is only fair to update my review. The manager was definitely very nice. The waiter we had was horrible. My girlfriend and I came here for date night looking to try something different away from Maggianos. If Mama Ds was open later would have gone there. Started off ok. We were seated and wasn't busy at all. Asked the waiter what is in the Sangria, and he said the owner makes it her own concoction. I can understand that, but I do have a couple of allergies, and he seemed completely uninformed and frankly didn't seem to care. During this process my gf went inside to speak with the manager and I was responding to the Owner via yelp. The whole event was a major turnoff for us. The owner and manager were great there is no debating that, but when a customer asks whats in something, or for utensils to eat then you make it happen. I don't know everything in the business I work in, but you better believe I will ask and figure it out. We sat at the table for 5 mins no utensils while the waiter took some to another table. He then blamed the bussers. This is where I come with my "c'mon man" if you are understaffed I get it, but we already asked and you are understaffed and our food has been sitting here. The owner in the end took care of us with the great manager, but it had already left a bad taste in date night which we dont have a lot of. Haven't decided if we will give this another shot, but very much appreciated that dinner was comp'd not necessary, but thank you very much. Where do I begin? My wife and I walked in and were greeted with a harsh "how can I help you?". That should've been the sign. Once we told the host that we wanted a table for 2 she sat us in a section that didn't have a waiter. It took 10 mins for someone to notice us and when he did notice us he took our order and didn't return for 30+ minutes to check in. He wasn't off b/c I counted 3+ other tables he checked in on and refilled water. At some point another waiter checked in on us and refilled our waters. When the other guy finally returned he didn't offer anything - Water, beer, desert - NOTHING! We grabbed our check from the other waiter and paid cash without a tip. This was probably the worst dinner we've experienced from end to end. Oh and only one of the meals was actually good. I would give zero stars if I could. Avoid this place!!! read more

Pasta is exceptional and i will definitely continue to eat from here. I give it one less star because of lack of hostess or host. My first time coming here was New Year's Eve..given how busy they knew they would be, I was surprised to see only one hostess (being completely overwhelmed at that) Bless her..she handled everyone with grace and composure. My second time visiting the restaurant there was no hostess at all or anyone in the front. First time and what a disappointing dinner!!! Food no flavor and service was horrible. No one came back to our table to check in on refills and to ask how our food was. As for the food bland no flavor. Pizza very bland, permed alla vodka bland and only 4 shrimp . Spaghetti ala vongel ample clams but needs some spices and garlic. My family has to ask for the check 3 times. Maybe the owner would be better off trying to hire some servers instead of doing it all! I would recommend you walK by and enjoy one of the other restaurants in the area!!! Over priced!!!! Of course no one from the restaurant cares about the horrible reviews!!! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Our server was very attentive and made sure our wine glass was never empty. The food was amazing as well. My boyfriend ordered the chicken Parmesan and smiled throughout his entire meal. We definitely will be back especially with the yelp deal. Food: Chicken Parmesan was tender and juicy. There was plenty on cheese on top to satisfy any cheese lovers out there. Their marinara sauce was delicious as well. I ordered the risotto with seafood. Plenty of calamari, mussels, and clams throughout the dish without any sand. The risotto wasn't as creamy as typical risotto dishes I've tried but still had wonderful flavor. Definitely coming back to try the other dishes. Parking: it is located at The District so parking is free in the lot. It may get a little busy at night and during the weekend. Also, it is located by the theater so it may be advisable to park near there if you want a shorter walk. Price: the food is a bit on the pricier side. Chicken Parmesan was $26 and my risotto was $28. Ambiance: it's a nice little intimate restaurant. I saw folks wear casual clothing (jeans and t-shirt) to cocktail attire. Overall: pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed our meal. This was a great dinner choice for my daughter's 21st birthday! We loved the ambiance in the patio as we nibbled on fresh bread and sipped red wine. Frank was a knowledgeable and efficient server. His recommendations were ideal and all five of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Frank made a delicious handcrafted beverage for our daughter along side a wonderful slice of ganache tort with berry sauce...very nice! The manager reached out the day after my bad review. I appreciate that and after three months finally gave them another chance. I am mad at myself that I did. Once again the service here let me down. Called ahead and was told there was no wait (on a Saturday) I should have known better. Came in and there is a sign that says "ring bell..." isn't that what a hostess is for? Should we really have to interrupt other diners with a bell? Anyways, we ordered an app with out double vodkas and those were great. Here comes the problem.... I ordered a salad and an entree to split and guess what?! They came together. (During this whole time we still just had bread plates with no bread and they had the nerve to bring out our app, salad, and entree!) I sent the entree back and went to the host for a manager. She brought a server, (Valentina where are you?) He was nice enough and asked if we wanted fresh pepper with our salad (something that should have been asked originally). Never received bread. Probably one of the best italian restaurants in orange county. My family likes to come here whenever we are craving italian food. They have the best eggplant parmigiana i have ever tasted at any restaurant. They cook the eggplant so well and the cheese is so gooey and yummy. It's my favorite dish there. I also love their calamari which comes with a pink marinara sauce to dip. The calmari is so crunchy and delicious. They have several pasta choices so every time i come, i try to order a different dish each time so that i can try to taste them all. Their desserts are also yummy. I've been here many times with friends for dinner out on the adorable patio and the food AND service is always outstanding! I loved it so much that when I needed to host a party I asked the owner if I could rent out the patio for my husbands OCSA Graduation party! She said yes and was overly gracious and kind! Always checking in and so professional. The food was set up buffet style and they kept everything coming always hot! Everyone loved their food. She allowed us to decorate the patio and even bring our golden retriever to surprise my husband! I love everything about Luna Rossa!! Highly recommend!!! read more

Oh my goodness, this place is amazing. Went here on a Tuesday night and there was no wait. The waitress was kind enough to let us move to a booth after it opened up. We had the OC restaurant week special which came with an appetizer, entree, and dessert. We got a salad, the tortellacci filled with red wine braised beef short ribs with shaved black truffle, and the blueberry tiramisu. The tortellacci is to die for. It's a crowd favorite and I can definitely see why. Also got the lasagna, which was perfect for a cold evening. They gave us complimentary Moscato. 10/10 and definitely coming back soon! read more

Best fettuccine Alfredo I've had in a while. Get it with veggies added. Makes you feel healthy and actually tastes better. The eggplant parmesan is outstanding. You must must get that. We haven't tried any of the beef or chicken dishes yet, but they look promising. Service was outstanding. They have this Covid thing down. Outdoor seating is great. Best seats in the District. Only reason for lower review is their salads are not that great. They're fresh, but we're not inspiring. I took my parents who are vegetarians and they were underwhelmed. It's also a little pricey, but totally worth it if you want authentic and delicious Italian pasta with a nice and convenient setting to boot.
