House coffee, with creamer!
David L.

My colleague told me about this place as he frequents it a lot. We stopped by here during our break to get a quick coffee, and the place is great! I had remembered I had come here a year ago to grab a sandwich and it was delicious, so i'll be going again in the future. We both got the house coffee, I asked for room for cream and splashed some half and half into mine, the service was quick, we were in and out in less than 2 minutes, but note it was later in the afternoon so the morning and lunch rush probably had already left. The coffee was delicious as always, and the cashier was always super friendly. I may have missed it before, but I see the location now has a TV with more tables on the side. It might have already been there, but I probably didn't notice it. It looks like a great place to enjoy coffee and a pastry, or a sandwich. Definitely come on by if you're in the area for a coffee or sandwich!

2. Egg, Cheese and Bacon with avocado

10/10. Service was super friendly, the coffee was great, and the bacon, egg, cheese & avocado croissant was SO good. The shop is a little tucked away, but once you find it, it's absolutely worth it. They also had a bunch of sandwiches that looked really tempting. definitely going back to try more.

Fresh organic coffee beans

The food, coffee and employees were all amazing. This is my first time coming to this location as I was around the neighborhood and the employees were really nice and kind. The three ladies working hard who made my experience impactful and not to mention, I love the fact how they roast their own organic coffee beans, in-house. I also got a free coffee for buying a pound of fresh organic beans!! Thanks Mayra :)

Java Chip Frappe

Small cozy spot with plenty of options on the menu from savory bites to sweet drinks. Only tried the Java chip so far and it tastes great! Would come back to try other menu options!

Italian sandwich on sourdough with pepperoncinis added. Vietnamese iced coffee.

I stop by Vasquez Coffee two to three times a week. The Italian sandwich on sourdough is solid, and the Vietnamese iced coffee is strong and balanced. The ladies working here are always professional and friendly, and the place is kept very clean inside and out. Good food, good coffee, consistent service. That's why I keep coming back. Stop by if you're in the area. Everything is good.

Chicken Salad Wednesdays!

Check out their Chicken Salad (on a croissant)--served only on Wednesdays! While you're there grab a pound of Manhattan Dark--the best coffee on the Planet!

I started this draft pre-covid, so I really hope that Vasquez is still open and serving those good breakfast sandwiches! Vasquez is my secret spot in this neighborhood. I was trying to keep it that way, but honestly can't hide my feelings anymore. I don't drink coffee, but I'm sure that's what they do best - given they are a coffee company. I go there for breakfast and lunch sandwiches, which are unique and tasty. Once I went twice in one day because I loved the bagel sandwich I had for breakfast and craved a tuna sandwich for lunch. Both great. Now that things are opening back up, I'll stop by and check them out. I know the businesses in the neighborhood love this little spot.

Kudos to this small sandwich shop & the Turkey Cranberry w/cream cheese, lettuce & tomatoes on sourdough. Amazing!
Myrnelle G.

This place, for the most part, has been consistent with their sandwiches. It can be on the pricey side, but they do pack in as much as their bread can hold! Definitely not "date food" as the mess is guaranteed, but it's all in good fun to get grub that you can stuff your face with! When they're Dutch crunch bread is fresh, it's amazing. But...you gotta be careful because there can be a time when that bread is stale. When this happened to me, I was able to get another sandwich for free. So at least they do recognize the error and try to compensate for it by offering to do so. The problem is that the bread is not baked on site and so they are limited to what they get on their deliveries. As for their drinks, I'm not really a fan. I think that their coffee is a bit watered down. Overall, I appreciate their quick service and that you're able to call ahead so it's ready when you get there. Sometimes the ladies are friendly, and sometimes not. But I'm not there for service. I'm there to get a quick lunch. As long as they get that right, I should be returning frequently.

Service / ambiance: This lovely little coffee nook is tucked into the lobby of an apartment complex. There's a ton of foot traffic from both the patrons and residents, but that helps give Progeny a truly neighborhood / community feel. Many of the residents also seem to be frequent patrons, and the staff at Progeny frequently greets folks by name. Even if you don't live here, the staff is still plenty friendly. They offered great recommendations on what to get (one of the first baristas who really delivered on my request for a sweet treat that wasn't too sweet). You can sit at the collection of tables in the apartment lobby, which includes a set of giant steps and huge windowsill bench. It's all a bit unconventional but very cozy. They also have access to the building's WiFi, so you can easily spend all day here. Food: Outstanding coffee and snacks, all of which is pretty affordable priced. I got an americano and black sesame mochi cake, which came out to less than $10...honestly unheard of in much of SF. The americano was outstanding. Progeny is focused on ethically sourced Colombian coffee, and you can really see their love for the country and product in every cup. The coffee is fragrant, slightly fruity, but not overly bright. It went wonderfully with the nutty, not-to-sweet black sesame mochi cake.

If you're into drip coffee, plain cold brews, or more traditional coffee drinks, this place could definitely be for you. However, as someone who usually orders crafted lattes, I don't think this spot was the best fit for my preferences. I ordered their popular Blueberry Iced Latte, and it just wasn't for me. I didn't mind the strong espresso shot; in fact, I appreciated it, but the very tart blueberry syrup didn't pair well with it for my taste. I will say, though, I loved the mushroom-shaped ice! There was a lot of it in the drink, haha. The woman who took our order and made our drinks was friendly and efficient, which I appreciated. The shop is located inside the lobby of an apartment building, so the ambiance is pretty minimal. Overall, I can see why this place appeals to others, but based on my personal preferences, it just wasn't my favorite coffee experience.

The coffee is pretty good--not a destination roast shop, but solid enough that pairing it with a warm biscuit or pastry feels exactly right. The space is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual morning in the neighborhood or a quick stop before heading to the waterfront. Service is friendly and low‑pressure, which makes it easy to linger with a pastry and a cup. Prices are on the higher side, especially if you're loading up on pastries or grabbing a sandwich and coffee. I've been wanting to try some new pastries and ended up getting the kaya bun, apricot twice baked croissant, and shrimpwich along with an iced matcha cappuccino to drink. Loved the matcha cappuccino which was super smooth and very strong - just the way I like my match! Of the food, I liked the shrimpwich the best which came with a yummy slaw but I thought the bun was a bit dry and lackluster. I was a bit disappointed with both the sweets though as the apricot preserve plus the almond top on the croissant was way too sweet for my taste and the kaya bun which reminded me of a pineapple bun was dry. I prefer the kaya toast over the bun.
