Best vet in the area. People that really care and show it with every visit. Good hours and a fair price.

We had weekly appts - (illness is stressful) - then one morning he could no longer move - not even his tail and was barely breathing. They told us to come right in, despite clients waiting. We were ushered in a room immediately for euthanasia (we cried) - clearly not easy for anyone involved including the staff who had to continue on with the rest of the day. I'm sure our emergency impacted scheduled appts. All the staff give quality care to their patients, from exams to record keeping. In 2020, we adopted again and still go there in 2023.

I showed up on time for an 11 am appointment the other day. Another customer angrily told me he'd ben waiting since 10:20 so I knew it was going to be trouble. At 11:35 I called a friend and asked her where she took her dog. At 11:45 I called that vet, made an appointment, and left. At 12:05 my phone rang and a cheerful voice told me (without apologizing or even mentioning that I had been kept waiting) that it was time to bring my dog to the entrance. Needless to say. . . .

First Choice Veterinary Care in Lunenburg is absolutely my LAST choice for veterinary care, and if…read moreyou value the lives of your animals, it should be yours too. I brought my ten m/o kitten in to be spayed on a Friday morning, and picked her up that afternoon as instructed. I was told both on the phone and while picking her up that she did great through her surgery and there were no concerns. However, as soon as I got home, I saw that my cat was already bleeding from her incision site. I immediately called concerned and was told I could email a picture for the veterinarian to look at if I felt the need. Obviously, I did so, and the vet was completely dismissive of my concern. Well, my kittens bleeding continued into the next day (Saturday) and had worsened severely. I brought her to the emergency vet, where, after testing, they diagnosed her with internal bleeding. When I confronted the vet, Melissa Sulin, she disregarded the trauma my cat had experienced, and accused the reputable emergency vet of lying about my cats condition, and refused to read the paperwork that they had given me detailing her symptoms. Melissa Sulin was unwilling to listen to my concerns and experience which occurred due to her dismissive practices and nonexistent bedside manner. After I had voiced my disappointment with the overall experience, she walked out of the patient room shaking her head at me as though I had done something to offend her. Needless to say I will never entrust Melissa Sulin or First Choice Veterinary Care with the wellbeing of my pets again.

The next day the cops show up because she told them he wasn't up to date on shots. The cop told us it was her who complained. Ummm, he would have been up to date if she had finished the appt and not freaked out. So Unprofessional and mean considering she never helped with his ears either.

I am trying them out for the first time, but their ethics of creating nutritious dog food for dogs seems to be informed by a vet and years of experience. I have been feeding my dog whole, natural foods for a year and a half now and it has really made a difference in her coat, her weight, her health, and general demeanor. She is a healthier and happier dog, and I intend on continuing that way, so provided this works out for us, we will probably continue with Napa Fresh dog food service for years to come. I went through a phase of making my own dog food and learning all about the essential nutrients and food portions, but because of how time consuming it was, for the expense of it and the time it really was just better to seek out a dedicated business that offered this service. We opted for the bestseller variety pack so we can try a variety of meal proteins and flavors and I thought that for a 50 lb dog, 21 days' worth of high quality food was reasonably priced. So we have high hopes for our recent Yelp find!! I shall update this review later on.

I learned about this shelter during our recent online search for a kitten, we were approved to…read moreadopt and made an appointment right away. I was concerned after reading the reviews, but our experience was very different as much has changed for the better. Priscilla informed us the day of the appointment that there were some health issues with the kitten we wanted. She explained the issues in detail on our arrival and what the timeline would be for adoption after the kitten got the vet care it needed. The facility was clean, roomy, and bright. Cats are kept in separate cages (other than kittens from the same litter) and the cages were immaculate with beds, hammocks, litter, fresh water, plenty of food, and toys. We were asked to follow sanitizing protocols between handling any cat. There was a room log for health/behavior notes as well as cage logs, the latter noting daily biological functions (yup, they track it all!). We read in the logs that the health issues for the kitten we wanted had developed the morning of our appointment and she had already been treated by a vet before our evening visit. After a lot of thought about the timeline for the kitten, we returned two days later to instead adopt a perfect 1 year old cat that caught our attention during our first appointment and stole our hearts. Priscilla opened up 30 minutes early so we could get in that day and not risk losing her to another adopter. Our adoption included a care package of new cat guidelines, food, toys and a hand crocheted blanket that smelled like the shelter to help our cat adjust to her new location. We received an email of her vaccine records that day so I could make her follow up vaccine appointment on time and got the hard copies in the mail 3 days later. I would return here to adopt our next cat, hopefully many years from now. I would also recommend this shelter to anyone adopting a kitten or cat.

Then I questioned am I not allowed to return and she said I don't know you'll have to call the office. I just don't get a very friendly feeling when I'm there. You are not allowed to walk between the rooms and look at the cats and they really spend a good amount of time with them. One lady that is really nice. I can't remember her name, but she sort of really tall and has short, brown hair. Not a place that makes you feel welcome. That is very sad because it might affect the cats being adopted, there were a few that I was interested in there, but I probably won't return and I will look elsewhere because of the unwelcoming feeling and the unfriendliness of the lady with the short gray hair. She is not that nice. I don't know why she is in that business.

We were also told that the grooming would be recorded so that we could watch the session if anything weird happens. When we picked up our dogs, it became clear that the boy's grooming was incomplete. He had little knots on his head and a large knot on his tail, as well as a new bald spot on his chest. When we spoke to the groomer about it, she said that he was difficult and wouldn't sit still so that she couldn't complete it, and she said that the bald spot was a cowlick. This didn't *seem* right, because he gets groomed 4 times a year and in the previous place they never had any issues with him at all, and we pet his chest all the time and would've noticed a bald cowlick spot before. She was also not told that the girl was supposed to get a pretend grooming session at all, so that never happened. Since the boy has never been an issue before, we wanted to see the video that we were told we could see if we requested it (we wanted to know what might've set him off), but then we were told that we couldn't because the video system has been down for weeks. The manager I spoke with didn't care and just told me that the groomers rent out the rooms so they aren't responsible for what they do. We contacted the owner but she hasn't responded and instead blocked us on the company Facebook page. Best case, this place has terrible communication amongst the staff and the groomer, poor customer service, and a broken video system. I wouldn't trust my dogs there.
