I can't say enough good things about Lunette. First off, I love my optometrist, Dr. DeLee. Their equipment is much more state-of-the-art than the other 2 local offices that I visited and the doctor spent ample time discussing the health of my eyes. I have seen her 2 years in a row now. As for their eyewear, yes, they are expensive because they sell luxury eyewear. The assistant manager (Stacy) spent a lot of time finding the right pair of glasses that looked good on me and fit me well. She never made me feel pressured and was patient with me while I visited other stores before making my final decision. In addition, I had brought a pair of progressive glasses that I bought 6 months ago from For Eyes that I never had liked because I couldn't see well through them. Stacy immediately determined that the lenses weren't properly fitted and she fixed them for me! I am so glad that I used Lunette for my recent progressives. Not only did I get beautiful Chanel frames, the lenses are far superior than the lenses in my older 2 glasses. Significantly better! I have gotten my last 2 pairs of glasses here. What sets this place apart (aside from a great selection of brands) is the service. My most recent pair of Chanels - have broken 2x. Certainly not the fault of Lunette but I believe a flaw in the design/quality of the frames. They've helped me both times get them repaired and worked with Chanel to avoid charging me a cost. I appreciate how they worked with the vendor and helped me get a repaired pair. Service like this is why you go back to a store and are willing to sometimes pay more. I want consumers to be aware of the egregious customer service at Lunette Optic so another customer does not have to subject themselves to this substandard experience. They will mistreat you and disrespect you. I feel a great deal of this disrespect stemmed from the color of my skin and I was treated as less than a person. I now have to search for this frame all over again, which will be challenging as it is a discontinued model. Possibly the best place in the South Shore/Boston area to get an eye exam and buy glasses. Lets start with the exam - They have the most current technology, so forget about that is better or worse, 1 or 2, 2 or 1, is 2 better or worse than 1. A machine is able to figure out your prescription and you give it a try. You don't have to second guess your self any more. Also, no eye drops for the glaucoma test. They take a picture of your eye and do all the measurements that way. read more

The best eye doctor I have ever been to and I've worn glasses since I was 12. Dr. Dunker did the most thorough eye exam I have ever had and found a growth that other optometrists have missed. Beyond the eye exam, the staff was incredibly helpful. Instead of just pointing me to the frames and telling me to let them know which ones I like, they walked me around the store and gave me real opinions as to what they thought looked good with my face shape. Unbelievable customer service. Friendly, honest, and very well organized. The 2 staff members worked as a team in terms of selling me a pair of glasses, which I LOVE!! When I needed a second opinion one of the young ladies who worked there offered to try the glasses on due to having a similar facial structure and it helped in making my final decision on the pair of chose. The gentleman who walked me through the store was incredible. Not over friendly but honest and kind. He gave me a brief description on each pair he chose for me to try on. And, gave me his opinion on each, as did I. Once I decided it was a no, he took the pair away immediately so I wouldn't get confused. I order my glasses $ 757. I go pick them up, and they didn't read the prescription correctly, and ONLY did the lenses for the distance, NOT the reading. Ok. Mistakes happen. They re-did, I picked up yesterday, and the only did the lenses for READING this time - no distance ? WTF ? They had the prescription. Now, I will need to come up with the difference of $200, and drive from the Cape to their shop for the 3rd time, plus another once they correct. Think I will go to Providence - maybe they can read a Dr. prescription. read more

While the doctors were very professional and the exam and equipment was top notch I feel that I was mislead on the overpriced routine eye exam. 255 for a routine 15 minute exam is in no way competitive with any other store In the area. Frames and lenses are also 50% more expensive than any other store in the are. Unless you are a Hingham housewife who is in a competition to spend more money than your fellow housewives, don't waste your time here. Spend 20 minutes on the highway and go to 'See' or 'Four Eyes' in Cambridge. read more

Pros: Eye appointments always begin on time Scheduling is pretty flexible for last minute/emergency appt Eye doctors are great Have all the modern equipment and able to perform any test Cons: The retail experience is a little icy. Everything is locked up. The front desk staff (specifically the Jeff Goldblum-looking guy) hates children. Even well behaved, sitting silently children. We have probably spent well in excess of $5000 on glasses in the last year at Lunette. Yes, they have funky styles. However, I'm done with the horrible quality control and subsequent customer service. My wife ordered three progressive eyeglasses and one pair of sunglasses. The eyeglasses took two weeks and came in supposedly defective so they were sent back. We were never notified. It took another two weeks to finally get the eyeglasses back. A flippant "well at least you have your old glasses to wear" was not very endearing. The sunglasses were defective TWICE so here we are a month after ordering and they are still not right. Ok, mistakes happen but the customer service has fallen to downright awful. They proclaimed at about 5pm we will call the lab tomorrow in California when it opens. Huh? It's 2pm in California! How about we are so sorry we will make this right, instead they seem determined to tell you you need to get used to wearing progressives. She's been wearing progressives for 11 years! So to sum up, very stylish, very expensive, horrific quality control, and worse customer service. read more

I have frequented the Hingham store for years, spending thousands of dollars. Actually, I just bought a pair of bifocal glasses for $1400! Ouch, they were a "must have" and the sales folks are fabulous! However, when I needed them repaired, the whole experience has discolored every bit of positive customer experience and the quality of glasses too! I dealt with the owner for the "repair" who tried to charge me HUGE BUCKS, did not return my calls (oooops, he is building a new house and was too distracted), they sent my glasses away and after 3.5 weeks, I still do not have them back. WHAT? I will not spend the money on the repair and will now need to find another source to repair them - after $1400 on the glasses, and buy 3 sunglasses totaling $1,000 would he give me and my family a break? On a late Friday afternoon, while polishing my van, I Iay my glasses on the floor while reading the fine print on a car product. Unknowingly, I knocked my glasses off the floor onto the ground and inadvertently stepped on them. The lenses popped out of the titanium frame and one side was bent. So on Saturday, I put on my spare pair of glasses and drove to Lunette Optical on Derby Street in Hingham. There, I met Christie Lee, giving her my glasses as we spoke. She said: "Let me see what I can do. But I do warn you that these frames are fragile." She took the glasses into the "Repair Room" for about five minutes; returned and said: "Here. Try them on." She worked magic on them and they were "good as new." Not having visited an optician OR optometrist for over two years, I now knew whom I'd consult sometime this fall. Disappointed...but they're trying to recover. In September, 2014 I purchased a pair of Cartier frames ($1,750) from Lunette Optic in Hingham. At the same time I purchased an additional pair of Chanel frames ($1,500) for wife. Recently, I was sitting at my desk and one of the nose supports fell off my Cartier frames. I returned to Lunette to have the frames repaired, under warranty. I was told by the Lunette representative that it would take 2-3 weeks for Cartier to evaluate the frames to determine if they could be repaired or replaced. I was advised today that my frames would be repaired but only after I paid $275 to have the work done. The product is clearly defective. For the nose support to fall off in 9 months is unacceptable from any brand. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Cartier is suppose to be a high-end brand. My expectation was to get many years of wear from theses frames not 9 months. In addition, the Lunette representative could not have been more disinterested in the fact that my glasses were defective. I was told in essence, oh well, and asked if they would like me to have the frames repaired or returned. I chose the later and will have my jeweler perform the repair, at my expense of course. Needless to say I would advise doing your homework if you're expecting a high-end product to also carry an appropriate level of service from Lunette Optics in Hingham. It's apparent that service beyond the sale is not something with which they concern themselves. UPDATE: A person from Lunette reached out late today advising that they're still working with Cartier to get my frames covered. Apparently Cartier needs additional proof as to the date of purchase. The best place for any eyewear or exams! The doctor I saw was fantastic, she was very thorough and personable. I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else. She explained why I was not as happy with my vision as I had been(I had 20/15 and now have 20/20). And that I was given readers and that is not what I needed, not yet anyway. One of the opticians named Renaud, he's French, helped me pick out glasses that looked great. I kept picking out ones that just didn't look right on me, and he walks away and comes back with like six pairs that all looked good. I decided on a pair of IC! Berlin, that can be worn with almost anything. The brands they carry are all very high quality Chanel, D&G, Lindberg, Gold & Wood, Cartier etc. They even had these really cool bendable glasses, if you have kids these would be perfect, nearly unbreakable. Speaking of kids, they have the cutest kids glasses I've ever seen! And a good selection of them too. read more
