Usually our experience at Lupe is great. However, tonight we were very disappointed. My husband ordered a large Dos XX, in which the waiter said they were out. Which then my husband saw another customer being brought a Dos XX. The waiter could have checked or followed up before immediately saying no. Then when ordering our food, the waiter said that they were out both rice and sour cream. It is very disappointing that on a Tuesday evening, they somehow ran out of two main things. There was no other alternative offered. Not to mention, it is ridiculous to be charged full price when the service was not only poor, but the plates of food were not complete. My friend and I went to Lupe Tortilla in Cedar Park, Texas for lunch. It was before the lunch rush so it wasn't very busy. We sat at our table for 15 minutes before being acknowledged by anyone. Finally a waitress came over with chips and salsa. No drinks mind you, just chips and salsa. We waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. Another 10 minutes went by before the drinks arrived. An iced tea and a coke...not exactly a bartenders nightmare. The drinks arrived and the wait staff took off without taking our food order. Now we have a half an hour invested and have yet to order food. Finally, after another 5 minutes goes by, we ordered from the lunch menu, 2 chicken taco salads. We waited another 15 minutes before I called the waitress over and told her if the food wasn't on the table in 2 minutes we were leaving. NOTE: I am not one of those crabby old men who complains because the ice is to cold or the napkins are pink and I hate pink. I never complain unless the difficulties become problems. I understand that the food service industry is a tough one and a few mistakes must be forgiven. My patients was being tested though. Our food finally shows up and they were enormous salads. My friend made note that they didn't look like lunch sized salads. It ends up, they weren't. I'll try to wrap this up with a critique of the food. The chicken had a chemical flavor like someone grilled it and didn't let the lighter fluid burn off. It was also very salty. At the bottom of the bowl was about 1/8" of water. Someone didn't drain the lettuce very well...although the lettuce was fresh. I'll give them that. As I alluded to earlier, the salads were not lunch salads and we were charged accordingly: 2 rather unpleasant taco salads and 2 drinks cost over $40 and 1 hour 20 minutes of what little time I have left. I know this was a long review and thank you for staying to the end. I just want to share one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life...and that includes when we went to Longhorn and a really big cockroach crawled up on my shoulder. I hope you'll take these words as one mans opinion, but this place was awful. In closing: SURPRISE, I will never eat at Lupe Tortilla again. Next time I want a taco salad I'll go to Rosa's. This rating is for "take away" curbside service. Twice I have ordered from this location and have received an incorrect order. First time...ordered beef fajita taco salad and got a drenched ground beef salad. If you go to Lupe...you know the fajita beef is diff from ground beef. The price certainly reflected that as well. Yes....I should have checked my order before I left for those that may say it....but really...it would be a marvelous day to order something, pick it up, and actual get what you ordered. 2nd time I thought would be a charm. 3.75 My husband and I were in the Cedar Park area and met up with some friends for lunch. We decided on Lupe Tortilla. There was a large parking lot with plenty of parking but we went around 11:15 am before the lunch rush. When we walked in we were greeted and then told to wait briefly so that they could get a server. As I looked around I noticed that the restaurant has a lot of space for dining and a big bar area. About 5 minutes later they seated us. Within a few minutes our waiter came over and took our drink orders. He did a good job throughout with a little help as the lunch rush was occurring. After bringing us our drinks he brought us some tortilla chips, salsa, and charro beans to snack on. The tortilla chips were crispy and light with little salt. The charro beans are my favorite because they are so flavorful. I ordered the Chicken Burrito which is a tortilla with grilled chicken, jack cheese and green tomatillo sauce. They put tomatoes, lettuce, and onions on one side of the burrito and rice and refried beans on the other side. The burrito was good. The chicken in the burrito was tender. I went for brunch on a Sunday with my toddler, my best friend, and her dog. It was surprisingly slow, so the sweet and friendly hostess sat us immediately on the patio (which we obviously requested). Our server Ari was incredibly attentive and amazing. The food and drinks we ordered were delicious and refreshing. Highly recommend the breakfast nachos, btw- even my picky toddler loved them. The ONLY reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because of one specific individual. I'm fairly sure this was a BOH manager, and he needs to stay in the BOH. He came out to ask us how our meal was, and when my bestie replied that it was awesome and our server is fantastic and deserves a raise (common praise coming from most people), he proceeded to get verbally aggressive with her and was apparently offended by her comment. That definitely did not sit right with either of us, nor did his dry and rudely stated comment of "if you think she's so great then you should tip her more"- implying that we hadn't tipped her enough when we hadn't even gotten our checks yet because we weren't finished eating. Ari, if you see this, you're incredible at what you do, and your fun and spunky personality really made our experience a positive one. If we return, we will absolutely be requesting you specifically. My parents and I went to Lupe Tortilla for the first time on a Sunday evening. It was super busy and had a 40-45 minute wait when we arrived. We didn't realize this until we were already there but you can actually see the live wait times and add yourself to the waitlist from their website before hand! We will do this next time for sure. After waiting for about 25 mins we noticed that the outdoor area had some empty tables and checked back in with the host, he happily double checked and seated us out there moments later. The server, Stacey, was so happy, nice and honest! She gave us great recommendations and was super knowledgeable about the menu. Also, she made sure we were never short of chips or salsa (they also bring beans but they have pork in them so we didn't try them). For our appetizer, we chose to start with the chicken flautas (which is actually an entree). They were awesome. The flautas came with queso, sour cream, guac and a side of beans which we substituted for a side salad ($up charge) which had the tastiest lime vinaigrette dressing! For dinner, my dad had spicy red chicken enchiladas and a crispy chicken taco. The spicy red sauce wasn't too spicy but had good flavor, he added the red salsa that came with our chips to his meal too. My mom and I shared the spinach and artichoke enchiladas that came with a red pepper sauce on top. SO good. In fact, I'd say they were better than any other vegetarian (and most chicken) enchiladas I've had. Both of our entrees came with rice and beans (all beans except for black have meat in them fyi). The black beans had a nice flavor, little spicy but very good. For dessert we had one regular flan and one of their seasonal pumpkin spice flans. Wow! Both were so good. My dad liked his flan so much he took one to go for later. Personally, I preferred the pumpkin flan. The pumpkin flavor was great. It was the perfect ratio of pumpkin and flan flavors. My husband and I ate at Lupe Tortilla on the evening of June 30. I ordered chicken torillas. He ordered Steak Fajita's . By the end of the night it was apparent I had food poisoning. I went to Cedar Park Regional Hospital ER and the doctor admitted me for four nights. It has taken me three weeks to recover from this experience! Victoria was amazing!. She was efficient and attentive even though she had a busy section. Her knowledge of the menu and food and her friendly attitude made choosing an option easier. She gave great recommendations and answered all my questions. I came during the lunch rush and she still did multiple tables checks and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. It was my first time at the restaurant and if I never had the food I would come back just because of her. But, to add a nice cherry on top, the food was amazing! Granted we went on Mother's Day and it was very busy. Registered online prior to arriving. Checked in and they added another 20min to the wait. Why did I bother to register on line then ? Our waiter Henry was horrible. Our drink order did not come until we asked and our entrees were arriving then. We never received the tortillas and butter we asked for primo to the meal. Had to ask for any water refills. The quail was raw and the manager or lead argued and said this is how they are prepared. I'm sorry when there is blood present and the breast flesh is soft and boggy it is raw !!! Nothing was offered to be done or refunded. It was sooo disappointing. The waitress at the table next to us was outstanding. The food other than the quail was great. We went to get our next drink order at the bar ourselves. When paying the check it took over 15 min for that to get taken care of. The standards should not be broken just because you are busy. The ambiance is Lupe's Tortilla. As a frequent diner at various locations I was ecstatic to see this. Since the location is in the suburbs we anticipated a wait for a Saturday. The service was friendly and clearly overwhelmed. We planned to make the most of our booth and await to Lupe flavors that brought us in. The order wait time was an hour and the appetizer wait time 18 minutes. Upon arrival the sizzling fajitas captured us with its flavor and the classic large flour tortillas. We added stuffed crab shrimp and was disappointed as it was more of a sauce pour over. The fajitas did not have the tenderness and Lupe lime flavor we remembered but were fresh. The biggest shocker was the salsa...it was a blended salsa then the traditional chunky one we had prior. Even with the long wait time and changes the experience was good due to the continued communication by the staff. They even understaffed and overwhelmed were great about checking in and keeping us updated and made us feel attended to. read more

I usually only order chicken and shrimp fajitas because the steak is usually too chewy. Not here. The thin chips are served hot and they are so, so good!! You cannot get a reservation, you can only put your name on the waitlist via the website. That's fine expect that the wait time online is always wildly off from reality. Every single time we have come here we have put our name in, timed it so that we arrived right when our table should be ready and every single time we wait another 25-40 minutes after our table was supposed to be ready. Take-out is run just as poorly. Why they let you pick a time to pick up your order is beyond me as they will always be 20-30 minutes late with that. read more

My husband and I have enjoyed Lupe's in Round Rock, but had not been to this location before. We loved their food, and mostly gone for their brunch on the weekends. We know they always get packed later in the day, so hard to go there for lunch or dinner, and most of time we have caught a seat in the bar area. Today, we had some time to spare, as my husband's car was getting worked on. They said it was going to be about a "30 min" wait. After 45 min, I went inside to check, and they said it should only be a few more minutes, unless we wanted outside. On this day, the wind was gusting pretty hard, so I declined. When I got the text that our table was ready, my husband complained a little, and they apologized, saying a few wait staff had called out, plus there normal "business" of a Saturday afternoon. They sat us in a table in the bar area. It was really packed all around us. You could see the bartenders never stopping for a second and the waiters always on the run. We had a great waitress named Darlie! For as busy as they were, again, surprised at that smiling face we got when we first sat. She got our drink order going with our chips, salsa and their BEANS (*which you have never had...they are the best charro beans you have ever had, and yes, you can just eat them with chips)!!! My husband got the chicken burrito and got the Nico combo, which is a taco, tamale (*which still don't understand in Texas why they make them skinny and small width), and cheese enchilada. Both came with rice and refried beans. He enjoyed his burrito, which he deemed small, with green verde sauce. My taco was best thing on the plate. The tamale was ok, but again small, and sauce on top did not add much too it. Was disappointed in the cheese enchilada, as cheese inside was still thick and not all the way melted. Beans were better then the rice. Not your traditional Mexican or Spanish rice. But, the service was "on point". Darlie checked on us frequently, and refiled my husband's drinks, and brought up fresh chips and MORE charro beans!! She was pleasant, even though you could see she was covering a large area. I've been traveling for business quite a bit these last few weeks and I was craving a nice TexMex breakfast. I looked at reviews on line and realized I had not been to a Lupe's Tortilla in a very long time. I went for Sunday brunch at opening time when I knew it would not be crowded. I'd never had breakfast at Lupe's, and afterwards, I regretted not giving it a try. First of all, the service was excellent. The conscientious waitress checked back with me a couple times and it such a small thing, but not only did she give me lime with my iced tea, as I requested, she checked back to make sure I had refills and a to go cup of iced tea on a very hot September morning! I reviewed the Brunch menu while munching on a basket of fresh crisp chips and excellent salsa and decided on the Chilaquiles. I think it might generally be my favorite TexMex breakfast item when I am dining out for breakfast. I ordered the "mild" version and it was flavorful and delicious! It was delivered in a small cast iron skillet and had crisp tortilla ships at the bottom, roasted chicken, onions, a great tomatillo sauce (tangy but not too spicy), jack cheese, queso fresco, a fried egg and a dollop of fresh guacamole. It was served with yummy refried pinto beans and fried potatoes. I was not only pleased with the great blend of flavors, but loved the generous portion size! Half of it went home with me for a couple of excellent Monday morning flour tortillas (from HEB) chilaquiles tacos! Yummm. Food is not bad but service is awful. Also very overpriced. Went here for a to go order which I had done plenty of times. Drove 20 minutes from Leander, picked up my order to find there were no sides. I called the restaurant since I paid $60 for 2 entrees and nachos and received barely any food. The nachos came with 12 chips for $10, would never get this again and seems like that is a common complaint at the chain as a whole. The manager at this location offered to comp just the sides, which I am sure is about $5 off a $20 entree, we will see what they comp. Ultimately the Lupe Chicken was 2 small pieces of chicken for $20 with no rice or beans. I can get over forgetting sides and small portions but the kicker was just the lack of service. I have had better service from fast food restaurants. Drove all the way there, spent $60 and was very underwhelmed. Will not be back. read more

Ahh - sad to report that Lupe was a total miss for lunch yesterday. They have been a staple on the lunch rotation spots - but not anymore. My buddy arrived first so I asked him to order for me - the big burrito. He called back to ask Chicken or Beef and I always go with the ground beef because I really enjoy how they season it. Forty-five minutes later my plate lands on the table in front of me. It is barely warm with the actual filling room temp at best. It is also the wrong meat. A gentleman who I think was the kitchen manager stops by our table to see how we are doing. I share that we come in fairly regularly and the food comes out pretty quick. He apologizes for the delay and I tell him I still have the wrong dish. He puts an order in for me right away for the beef. I also share that the waiter has been very attentive and doing a good job considering the kitchen has let him down. So the bill comes out and I was upcharged for some food I never ordered. That was fixed but there was no discounts or free beverage to account for my wait. My friend has to leave so he takes off. I am now waiting by myself. About 15 mins later, my food arrives and of course I have to take it in a to-go bag. I also had to call my boss and tell him I was running a bit late for our next phone call. So 90 mins from the initial order, I am taking my food home and with my busy afternoon, I wasn't able to eat it. My wife had already prepared dinner so now I hope to eat the burrito for lunch today - but I am sure it won't be as good as it was yesterday. I ordered green enchiladas w tomatillo sauce. I can't eat spicy. This has always been the best creamy seasoned chicken enchiladas. Not any more by all means. The corn tortilla was a hard with plain shredded chicken topped with cheese and the so called tomatillo sauce was so spicy it was placed only at the ends of the enchiladas. The corn enchiladas should be lightly dipped in the Tomatillo sauce until soft then with seasoned chicken and covered in tomatillo sauce topped with cheese. And puffy tacos were not puffy. My credit card ended up getting declined because the server put in my info wrong and that was not discovered till after I left the restaurant.
