Do not come here expecting service of any kind. Arrived at 5:20pm on a Tuesday to be told the wait is 30 minutes with over half of the restaurant empty. There was staff running every where with at least 4 floor managers on staff but doing nothing. This place doesn't want your business. Do not give them money just because the Houston locations are good. The hostess just stand around with blank stares, managers huddled up talking amongst themselves, and from my count over 22 empty tables. They are fully staffed but don't want you to eat here. We've gone to Lupe Tortilla a few times during their soft opening. The food is fabulous and fresh. I've never had tortilla's soooo good, light and buttery. I'm a fan of corn tortillas and these do not disappoint. The Tex-Mex Benedict for breakfast with a breakfast margarita is delicious. The corn (elote) is to die for ... I'm not sure when they will be fully open but I know it will be a hard place to get into. People giving them lower ratings are not being fair since they are still training everyone and the kitchen. It's a learning experience, everyone. They are working on getting things perfected. I love this place and it will continue to get my business. Izuri, Ryan, Kim, and Mathew are terrific. read more

Decided to try this place because we were wanting something different. Our go to is Blue Goose for Tex-Mex so we didn't know what to expect. We had the Mixed Grill and the Steak and Enchiladas. Started it off with queso, margaritas and then ended it with flan. We got a taste of the fajitas and because it was their soft opening we got a lot of good service. Very flavorful but a little pricey. The only real downfall for me was the flour tortillas. I like mine a little thicker than they make theirs. Next time, I'll try the fajitas. read more

The Fajitas were amazing, Brian the Bartender makes some really good Margaritas, and has great conversation skills, everyone was friendly and welcoming; even if we were "those people" you know show up way too close to closing time. Lupe tortilla was great. We waited a little longer than expected but the food was good and the service was great thanks to Jacob the manager in training. He took very good care of us knowing we had another commitment to be at after waiting so long. He ensured our order came out in a timely manner and our needs were met. Was greeted by an unhappy hostess...possibly manager. Sat at bar for promt service, waited ten minutes for a coffee that was ready in front of bartender. Sugar and cream never arrived. Tortilla soup was cold. Probably will not return. read more

Don't bother. On your way to this highway-side chain from Houston you'll likely pass 5 other Tex-Mex joints 10 times better than this generic disappointment. The service was slow and joyless. The food took so long that I had forgotten what I ordered by the time it finally showed up. The dish I had was the Chicken Lupe Del Mar...an underwhelming grilled chicken covered in a bland cream sauce with shrimp. Two-thirds of my plate was covered by the mediocre frijoles and rice. The lone highlight was a bean salsa served with the chips. You can do better at just about any neighborhood Tex-Mex place. read more

I'm a native Houstonian so I am very familiar with Lupe Tortilla. The original Lupe Tortilla in Houston is delicious. I've been a couple times now to the one in the metroplex so I feel comfortable leaving this review. The service left some to be desired but I'm chalking it up to them working out the kinks when a new restaurant opens. The food was good which is all I ask for. Since I've moved to Dallas it's been hard to find "good" Tex Mex so I was glad to see Lupe Tortilla was opening nearby. I will definitely come back to get my fix for Tex Mex read more

New restaurant with a lot going for it ... except a good understanding of the hospitality business. We arrived on a Friday at about 5:30pm. Thinking we were ahead of the Friday night rush, the hostess informed us that there was a 25-30 minute wait, despite a fair amount of unoccupied tables in clear view and no line of customers waiting. Our inquiry to availability in the bar as an alternative to waiting drew a reply of "I guess so". After a minor misunderstanding that the tables near the bar are not first-come-first-serve, we took seats at the bar. We had to ask for both beverage and food menus from a bartender that didn't seem all to interested in being there. From our seats at the bar, we watched the tables near the bar ... for which we could've waited ... sit vacant for 20-25 minutes. Simultaneously, a stack of dirty dishes sat on the bar for about the same length of time, occupying at least 3-4 spots for bar patrons. After being served a decent margarita, the bartender abruptly asked "Do you want to order?" "Can we see a menu first?" We were then served fairly promptly ... but had to request (again) napkins and silverware. Food was OK ... but the dining experience is diminished by lackluster service. Almost forgot the story told by the bartender about lacerating her finger early in the day at her other job and no visible bandage as well as frequently observing her push her hair back bare-handed. I'm probably 20/80 on giving Lupe Tortilla another dinner opportunity. read more

I am so disappointed in this location. I am also familiar with the Houston and College Station locations which are great. Came here on a Thursday around 5:30 with some friends and waited almost 30 minutes to be acknowledged. The service NEEDS to improve!!!! I feel like the managers are setting up the waiters for failure by giving them more tables than they can handle. Then it took about 45 minutes to get the bill. I spoke with the manager and he walked all the way over to my table to say he would take a $1.50 off my one drink that I ordered, "oh thank you for taking off $1.50 (had ordered others but they never came). What a joke. If you like waisting time and not feeling like a valued customer I urge you to try this location. This used to be my favorite Mexican food when I lived in both College Station and Houston. The portion size is very small for the high price. The food quality is great of course but the service just makes it not worth it, with all the competing restaurants who have their stuff together in the area. I really hope they improve. :( read more

They have really good carne asada me and my wife love it, but sadly they do not deliver when it comes to breakfast. Food was very blend. I wouldn't recommend it for brunch, but definitely would recommend it for dinner. read more

We went in last night to celebrate our son's birthday. Service was very slow, but we ordered drinks first. Our waitress obviously not very good. A couple 10 minutes after our drink ordered sat down and they got their drinks in 5 minutes, while we waited and waited. I asked for more salsa, since the little 2 ounce holding was not enough for four, let alone one. That never came. We ordered 2 margaritas, 1 draft beer, a bottle of wine and queso for starters at the start. 25 minutes later all came out except the bottle of wine. waitress kept walking by as I reminded her of wine, but no such luck. Then went to bar and requested the bottle and waitress said it would be out shortly. i grabbed my party and we walked out the door. I prefer a short, bad experience and not a long one. I wonder if the clueless waitress ever figured it out. I will never go there again, and they weren't even that busy yet. read more

Today experience at Lupe Tortilla was not up to standards. They only had one servers taking care of the entire restaurant and to make matters worse the kitchen was just as slow. The server took our drink and food order at the same time and we waited a while to get water and OJ. The food took forever even though we were the 2nd table they sat. Server never came by to refill our drinks. Sadly two tables walked out because they were never served. The worst part is the manager was no where to be found. The server told us two people didn't show up and the next person was scheduled until 11. A good manager would have hopefully called to see if they another server could coming in early or better yet touch bases with the tables to assist the lone server. They just kept sitting table and they never bother to let the patrons know that they are understaffed and they service would be slow. Sadly that falls on the manger that wasn't doing their job. read more

This place, in a word, is RIDICULOUS! I primarily came to try their "homemade tortillas", so I ordered the combo fajitas ($23.99!!... for ONE person). You would THINK that for THAT price, you might get a generous portion. HA! The MICRO portion came out on a 6" sizzling platter (smallest I've ever seen!) consisting of four 2" long pieces of beef, four 2" long pieces of chicken, 4 small grilled shrimp, ONE piece of green bell pepper, and literally 1 Tbsp. of grilled onions! Are you KIDDING me!!??... for $24??!! And then, to make this RIP-OFF even MORE ridiculous, the flour tortillas are like 14" in diameter!! WHO in the hell thought this is a good idea??!!... Its our first time here. The food was fantastic. Their chips and charro bean salsa was delicious (ate about 4 of the charro beans). I ordered the chilaquiles with egg mild, but they where out of mild sauce and brought regular sauce. I tried to eat them but where spicy. Manager Kim came over to table to see if I wanted something else. She was super nice and didnt want me to leave hungry. Highly recommend good mexican food. read more

Tonight I placed a take out order for fajitas from Lupe - usually one of our absolute favorites. When I got to the Irving location the order was lost. Really not that big of a deal, just wanted to get the order in as soon as possible so I could get home to feed my family. Instead of being treated nicely, the manager Danielle, accused me of calling the wrong restaurant for over 10 minutes all the while my order still had not been placed. Let me repeat I was not at all upset my order got lost I understand that happens. I was upset at the treatment I got when the manager was alerted to my lost order. I would also like to say the man that was working the takeout area was not to blame for the situation, I spoke to a woman when I called to order my food and was treated like a criminal by Danielle when my order could not be found. The manager never even as much as apologized for the wait or the inconvenience. The way the situation was handled was beyond anything I have ever experienced. Lupe tortilla is one of our usual spots for dining, take out and catering and I really can't express how disappointing the treatment was that I received. read more

We've been here several times since they opened a few years ago because the food is good, but never have we've had such horrible service like we did this past Saturday. Tried to have a decent birthday dinner with my family, yet turned out to be the shittiest experience there yet. Not only did it take our waiter, FRANCISCO 20+ minutes just to acknowledge we were there and at least say he will be with us soon, apologize for the wait or get us some waters, when he finally does come by, he doesn't introduce himself (only know his name by the receipt) or apologize; he just talks over everyone with a terrible and extremely rude attitude: "Are y'all ready?!" I was the first to order my drink, and while everyone is about to order theirs, he sighs and says: "WELL YALL JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU'RE READY!" Again, extremely rude, and ignoring the fact that I just gave him drink order. So I said, "Um I literally just gave you my order..." Got enough chips and salsa for about 3 people (while there were 9 of us), would not even bother to bring any extra out or ask if we'd like extra. When he brings our food out, he tells my dad "can you take this???" instead of putting the plate down in front of him like a normal waited would. Once we finally got our food and finished eating, it was at least another 30 minutes before he came back to our table so we could ask for plates for our cake and another drink. Instead, we reused plates we already had on the table because asking for anything else from this guy was clearly the biggest inconvenience. When we finally get to ask for to-go boxes and our checks, he kept cutting us off with "ANYTHING ELSE?!" while I'm also trying to ask for a water that he never even brought me to begin with and I had to share with my husband. We get our checks, pay, leave a tip that reflected the same service Francisco gave us, only to find out today by the charges on our cards that he takes it upon himself to DOUBLE the tip charge on at least 3 of the receipts from our table. The only tip he deserves is to fix his attitude. For as nice and patient as we were from the beginning (because we understand when waiters are busy), this was completely unacceptable and out of line. We are still waiting on a call back on how this is going to be handled, after the first guy we spoke to says it was "inputted incorrectly." No sir. This was not coincidentally "inputted incorrectly" on THREE receipts. This is called stealing: there's a difference. Do yourself a favor and don't go to this place. And if you do, make sure you don't sit in Francisco's section so you don't receive the same disastrous customer service we did. read more

My family and I are from Houston and all of the tex mex restaurants aren't even on the same level as lupe tortilla. We were so excited to hear that they were opening one in Irving!! Friendly service, the best chips and salsa, amazing quesadillas with rice and beans (finally something other than french fries as a side) and DELICIOUS fajitas. They are expensive but I guarantee you it is SO worth it. The beef is so delicious and tender and they have our favorite tortillas. 5/5 stars of course. the BEST Tex Mex!!!! read more

Showed up with my family the night of 5-31-19 to have a good dinner at these new place ,when we got there the atmosphere looked great not full with lots of tables available in and outside the patio so me and my family got out and started walking inside right away we got greeted by an individual he said the restaurant was closed to the public and that the only way you could eat there that night was to get invited thru some time of email service rsvp type, but yet when you look them on line it states that's it's open for business don't waste your time on these place one more thing the guy who greeted us dint offer to get our email or no type of information so we could off gotten on the email service bad really bad customers service......... read more

Waited over an hour for food when many other tables that sat down after us had received their food already. Waiter told us on at least one occasion that "the food was on the counter," ready to be served. This was clearly not true after waiting for so long. After waiting over an hour, we spoke with the manager. It was at this point we were told they lost the food ticket. These things certainly happen. Every time something like this has happened in the past at other restaurants, the manager is very apologetic and we are compensated in some way (free dessert, percentage off the bill, etc.). If they would have done anything close to this, I would not have written a review. However, the manager never came to our table and we weren't provided any discount. It's was as if the management did not care. Mistakes happen, but your character comes through in how you handle a mistake. This restaurant handled their mistake horribly. Will not return and can't suggest anyone go there to eat. read more

First time here...nice staff! It didn't really wow me not what I expected I don't speak Spanish so I didn't know where ground beef was on the menu plus they specialty is Fajita beef (which are really good they gave out a sample) so don't expect a lot of dishes with ground beef. Overall good large portions with plenty of toppings you will not need to order extra on the side. I would probably go back again at a friends request but not my first choice. I do think I will give them another chance with a different menu item. I had the Tex Mex plate because it was my first time and wanted to play it safe as I was really hungry lol...overall I would order it again except I would have the regular pinto beans instead of refried beans and the rice was a little too dry. Oh the chips and salsa are pretty good they also bring out a small cup of the pinto beans I could eat a whole bowl of them with tortilla shells which are great LOL! read more

Lupe Tortilla catered my daughter's recent wedding for 125 guests and they exceeded our expectations with outstanding service, quality, selection, etc. Manager Kevin and his staff were outstanding to deal with every step of the way, and several of our wedding guests commented on how much they loved the food (especially their world famous steak fajitas). There was plenty of food for everyone, including seconds. Besides chicken and steak fajitas, the menu also included rice, beans, chips, salsa, queso, and all the fixings. We heard nothing but great things about the fajitas so I was anticipating on getting those until we found out how pricey they were (for a good reason) so we opted for something else.
