Tried Breakfast brunch at Lupe's in Pearland. Although we have really enjoyed Lupe's in the past for lunch and dinner, this was our first try at brunch: we do not plan on returning. To wit, we were not seated for about 25 minutes even though the restaurant was not very full. It took quite a while to get served and when the food was finally served, it dribbled out in about four waves. The restaurant was obviously understaffed. The food was mediocre (my 'fresh' coffee was room temperature) and the breakfast pieces were not up to what we had come to expect from Lupe's. My son wryly commented that they did 'normal' Lupe's fare well, but not so the breakfast pieces. Also had to ask for everything, even salsa and chips-at a Mexican restaurant. read more

Let me start this by saying I have no problem with Lupe Tortilla, in fact I quite like the food despite it being a chain. But I'm hesitant to give it any more than 3 stars because from the times we've been, I've noticed some things I'm not real into...and I'm really afraid the Pearland food-mania train is going to turn this into Gringos-East in terms of ridiculously long 1.5 hour wait times. First off, I've had no real complaints with the food. The queso flameado con chorizo is brutal (don't have your lipid panel run any time soon), the fresh salsa and hot charro beans that come with the chips are 100% booyah (the partner loves the salsa, i love the beans...no competition needed), and the flautas are wicked good (shredded chicken, white cheese, lots of dipping options). However, what's up with the parachute sized tortillas? I get that they're fresh and they taste fantastic...but they're so comically large that you can't really do anything with them without tearing it into a weird, asymmetrical rag instead of making a taco or burrito. I'm really not exaggerating when I say these things are like 15" across. Is there some secret word to order normal human sized ones? If so...message me! The service is on the better side of average, though even when we've gone when there are only 2 other people in the restaurant, it seems really rushed. Not sure what to make of that. Also, if you're the type of diner that's a little off-put by personal managerial check-ins, you might not dig this place. The manager is quite friendly but also omnipresent. That said, they've always been friendly and attentive, but be sure to flag em down if you need something otherwise it might be a minute. read more

We had dinner at Lupe Tortilla last night and had a fantastic experience with Bertha as our waiter. She was quick, attentive and friendly. I really appreciated the dedication she has towards her job. We will make sure to always ask for her section when we dine in. Secondly, I just have to mention that my parents started taking me to Lupe Tortilla since I was a little kid. They built the Kirby Location near my childhood home and I have to say we never received the best service. The food was always good but it's as if the employees but especially the managers didn't make much of an effort to make the customer experience pleasant. Enough of that. This location far surpasses my expectations. Everyone in this restaurant including the managers were hustling and making sure their customers were taken care of. As long as my husband and I live in pearland we will be life long customers. read more

The staff at Lupe are very friendly and make great suggestions when you don't know what you want. I highly recommend the Barbacoa tacos. Also, you HAVE to try the $9 tres leches (don't look at the price, just trust me). My wife and I will add this to our list of favorite restaurants. read more

Sat at the bar for dinner and a few drinks with my wife. Only our third time at this restaurant, despite being Pearland residents since 2001. Only our third time because the service is always horrible; though this time HUGO, our bartender, was the ONE reason we might come back. He was paired with two or three other helpers, but one of the guys, the manager (we think) literally talked to one couple for 60 minutes at the bar; meanwhile Hugo was kicking butt serving drinks, taking food orders and keeping clean glasses for the patrons at the bar. Food was slow to arrive, but good (even though very pricey). Bottom line, HUGO is the one reason we might come back. read more

The food is pretty good. The margaritas are better than average. But the service at this location is usually terrible (occasionally we get a great server). Despite the place being empty of clientele yet filled with staff, we waited 10 minutes to get seated; the two girls at the entrance were either absent (5 minutes) or unable to read and make seating decisions - in an empty restaurant - while we just stood there. Finally we got seated, and 10 minutes passed before anyone came to take or drink order. After walking in and asking for service, the server said that "nobody is assigned the outside." On the up side, the food is consistently good which I can't say for Jimmy Changas, Emma's, or Gringos in the area. read more

I went to Lupe Tortilla for the very first time yesterday!! After hearing nothing but good thing from many different people.. I was excited to finally try the place! Got in at around 7pm with a group of 5... the wait time was probably 25 minutes, and they will text you when a table was ready. I thought this was neat! I'm a tech. guy... and appreciate when places actually use technology to help them run the business more efficiently! While waiting.. i was just watching.. watching people.. the setting... the ambiance.. It was all great! It seems like you get immersed into a little Mexican down.. with the exposed brick and the parrots hanging from the kitchen.. It was very tropical feeling. So I"m guessing they were basing this all on a coastal Mexican city or something.. but anyways.. back to business. After a little bit of a wait.. we were finally seated and was promptly greeted by the waiter. He was very soft spoken, which really made it had to hear him in a place that is fairly pretty loud. I ordered a Michelada... and it was just okay. It was probably under par .. when you compare it to Micheladas from Pastry War and La Grange!! The complimentary Chips and Salsa are placed on the table. The chips are bit thin and flimsy.. they basically break every time you go in and dip. The Salsa was the regualr red salsa you get at every other tex-mex establishment. The weird part was the beans... are you supposed to dip the chips in the beans as well? Beans aren't really my thing.. so yeah, I didn't really understand the whole beans with the chips and salsa thing. I order the chicken and beef fajita sizzling plate! I think they have the best fajitas in the area tbh. The beef was very seasoned and delicious! They have a hint of lime and is very tender and tasty and the tortillas are homemade and are delish! They are extra large and thin! Which makes it easy to tear apart and wrap individual mouth sized mini tacos! It's just how i like to eat my fajitas! All in all... this place was very good. They are at a higher price point compared to other Tex-Mex chains, but the food is on point! I will def. come back again... not very often.. but will come back! lol read more

We came here one evening when we were in the mood for some Tex-Mex. While this isn't our first visit to this location, it has been many years since we've been back. We noticed that there have been some changes to the interior. It looks a lot more "open". When you come in, the hostess stand is subtly to your left. We were immediately seated at a table. Our waitress came not long after to get our drink order. At that time, we went ahead and ordered our sons kids meal. We had a few questions about the different kids meal options and she answered them to our satisfaction. When she came back with our drinks, we then placed our entree and appetizer order. We were given chips and salsa while we waited (as is the standard in Tex-Mex restaurants). Their salsa had lots of fresh tomatoes in it. I'm used to more of a liquid salsa while this was more chunky pieces of tomatoes than liquid/sauce-like. It's different. I didn't like it much. When our fajita nacho appetizer came out, it was a good size and could actually count as an entree. My son barely touched his food when it came out but that could be more to it being a new food more than anything else. We opted to share a fajita plate and on the menu it says a half pound of fajitas was enough for 1-2 people. It came out on a small plate. Usually when we order a fajita plate, we get a lot more for less elsewhere. The fajita meat had some tang to it and was cut in thick strips. It was okay but I wouldn't say it tasted great. It was food and we were hungry. Their tortillas on the other hand are very good! But tortillas alone cannot make it an awesome place. Although the waitress was attentive and the food brought out in a timely manner, I cannot justify coming back here. For the amount of food we get and the taste of it (which wasn't to my liking), it just seemed too expensive when compared to other Tex-Mex restaurants nearby. I like that it stays open an hour later than other restaurants in the area but that will probably be the only reason for us to come back - if everywhere else is closed. read more

I've only been to Lupe Tortilla twice before and I am happy that I chose this place again. As we were walking in, my friend commented on how the Sugarland location always has the best customer service and apparently the same holds true for this location. Our server Jose was great at his job and did his best to make us feel welcome. There were four of us and we all have our "things" and I was hoping that he would be able to keep up. He did so without issue and brought us our drinks and salsa very quickly. I had the Big Sucker burrito which was great and my friends had the tilapia veracruz. They had no complaints and commented favorably about the taste. I ordered the barbacoa tacos to-go and they looked great. I tasted them and they were very flavorful. If Yelp had 4.5 stars, I would give it but they don't so I'll have to settle for a 4-star. read more

Every time we have gone our food has been delicious And our servers friendly and attentive... I am not a meat person but their fajita meat here has the be the best I have ever tried. My husband convinced me to try it and now every time I go I must have some...it is just that good...the only meat I crave ... If I could give no stars, I would. This was the third time my husband and I ate here. The first two times were okay. My husband loves their margaritas. But this third time.. not so much. My husband and I decided to go here to have lunch. He ordered a Shrimp Quesadilla and we both ordered a taco salad. Our first complaint .... the service was horrible. The waitress was almost non existent. The food was also not great this time around. The biggest problem came when my husband instantly got sick after eating the Shrimp Quesadilla. Just visited Lupe's for the first time in a while. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait but gave up after 50 minutes. We sat at the bar and had a drink which was a frustrating experience. The bartenders won't make eye contact and it took 15 minutes to order a drink even though we were sitting down. A terrible restaurant with bad service and food quality. We walked in and it's slow . There's 3 associates standing at the host stand talking to each other's. nobody sees us walking in and looking for help of where to sit. they kept talking til I asked one of them of where we can sit. They say oh sorry give us a seconds... then the host walk us tot he table. It took my server 20 mins to come greet us and gives us the menu. She never comes back til another 20 mins asking what we want to drink. Again, the restaurant is slow not busy at all. Then it's 40 mins before anyone ask us what we like to order. I ordered 1/2 lb of beef fajita for 1-2 person and a queso. The bill comes it $33. We have 2 water to drink that's all. The portion small it can only fit 1 person and they recommend for 2. The food the portion and the service is not appropriate for a 4 star restraint. The same price you can get a steak at pappadeux or Gringo for better service and food quality. Do not come eat here if you want good service good food and not feeling to be ripped off. I will never come back for biapace even though I live 5 mins down the road.! read more

So here we are once again...this location can't seem to get past crappy service. We've been a long time customer of Lupe Tortilla especially the Bay Area location but Pearland continues to leave a bad taste in our mouths. The waitstaff is where the problem remains...between making mistakes with orders and me having to retrieve my own refills at the bar for our table it is now expected upon visiting this location. Now the food remains a great quality but they've gotten pretty damn proud of their prices. And guess what!!! I definitely give this place 5 stars! I've been to so many Tex mex restaurants and I usually don't get fajitas but I tried the ones here and I must say omg, the best fajitas I've ever had, hands down. Amazing flavor along with a great chargrill, wow. The queso of course is so amazing, along with the margaritas and the blood orange margarita when it's in season, it's my favorite. I've tried the tacos, enchiladas and tamales. And I have yet to have a bad experience. The service is always amazing when I come here as well, and I never have to ask for extra items.
