I have not been so pleased with the vegetarian options offered on a menu in a long time. I had a hard time deciding. I chose the vegetarian fajitas. I was amazed at the freshness and selection of veggies. Grilled Portobello mUshrooms, sweet red peppers, poblano peppers, onion, topped with a hot pepper wrapped in handmade corn tortillas made my mouth water with all of the flavor combinations. Tasted like they picked the veggies fresh from the garden and grilled them just for me! The chips and salsa is the usual thing they give out Mexican restaurants but not this one ....You get BEAN DIP !!!! I was surprised to have gotten Bean Dip because no other Mexican Restaurant had done it. That overall had given me high hopes for the food because of the different approach with the Bean Dip. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We just had lunch there on September 7th, 2019 and my mom found a piece of hard plastic in her salsa. I told the waiter and he took it away and brought fresh chips. Second go around there was a large chili or pepper stem in the second set of salsa that was brought out. One of the managers named Johnathon came and apologized and said "it could be the plastic wrap on the cilantro, but I'm not making an excuse". Then my waiter refilled my diet coke with Dr. Pepper. Fine. Stuff happens. The worst part about it was that no manager's discount or anything was given!!!! We paid the full amount and left. While my pepper cheese steak was good the enchiladas were disappointing, the Pina colada tasted gritty and when they gave us a refill on beans for the chips they tasted like cigarette ash. I tried this location recently when places were only doing Togo orders. My husband and i split the fajitas (chicken and shrimp) and everything was packaged very nicely and fresh! Fajitas for 2 will run you around $50 with tax. The only disappointment was that we didn't receive our tortillas and I was not going to drive all the way back for them (i used whatever I had at home). Luckily the restaurant was nice enough to provide the queso we received complimentary so can't be too upset. read more

Very disappointing. We have eaten at other Lupe Tortilla restaurants and the portion have been very generous. We ordered fajitas for $25 thinking we could share and the portion was barely enough for one. Maybe 1 tablespoon of onions and 2 small 1/2 peppers that were uncooked and there was no lettuce. My wife had to order a salad bringing our total to $50 including tip for a substandard meal. We could have done better at Chili's but will give Papasito's a try next time read more

Let me start off by saying I am a fan of Mexican cuisine Spanish cuisine whatever you want to call it . So safe to say I've been to pretty much every Spanish Mexican restaurant in Houston area. But this is my first time going to this restaurant and I was eager to try it out. I'm only giving this restaurant three stars because of the food. Service was great my waiter was attentive and funny. The food however was bland and just regular I have nothing great to say about it or nothing really bad to say about it it was just kind of in the middle. Cinco de Mayo this year was a mess BUT I can't blame the team that was working. They did their absolute best. They all kept the best attitude and continued to be helpful in the worst conditions. Customers waiting hours on end, disorganization, and a incredibly bad storm. I could tell they were still trying to provide positive service and good food. Albeit not 5-star worthy but I can forgive a lot given the situation. The team made up for it. I watched awful customers tear at these people and the employees kept their cool. (Way more patient and understanding customers there, though) I see one unhappy customer left a comment which forced me to leave one to counter balance. I'm not sure who made the decision to open up all order streams (drive up, online, and phone) but it wasn't smart. You're taking on more orders than your normal (table) capacity. And being cinco de Mayo....ugh it was obvious they were overwhelmed. It took awhile but they got a system going. Every other time I have been has been great. So whatever about this one time. I used to like the food and drinks. However, after eating there on July 15th three people in our group got sick the next day which lasted several days. March 2019 - I seem to go back once a year to try Lupe again since I used to enjoy going there. Once again disappointed. First the new hot sauce recipe is awful. I asked if there was another one and there is (the original pico) but it cost 25 cents! Why. It just serve it with the other awful sauce? The service is SLOW! The food is sub par. The food was fine. In fact, it is pretty decent Tex-Mex which is the only reason I can give two stars and not one star. We arrived at 3:30 PM and did not receive our food until 4:55 PM. The place was not busy but there was one large table and two other smaller tables that our waiter was taking care of which seemed a bit much. Our waiter was a nice enough guy but not very attentive and the orders were messed up a few time. We did not receive one of our orders at all and the waiter first stated that it had already been brought to the table. After inspecting the table he concluded that it was not delivered and was going to have it redone but we declined because we were already running behind due to the late service. He was going to take it off the check but never did. I would not have paid for it but it was taking an extremely long time and I just left cash and let it go. My husband and I NEVER write reviews but this one HAD to be done. Last night was one of our worst experiences at a restaurant ever. I don't know when I will ever be able to eat Mexican food again! I will certainly never go to Lupe Tortilla again. We started the evening with our waitress passing us off to another waiter which was fine. My husband ordered a beer. When the foam settled he went to take a big sip when he noticed lipstick all around the rim of the glass. After speaking with a manager he asked for a margarita instead so that he could use a straw to drink it. We ordered the kids food and an appetizer first. My little ones food was wrong but she ate it anyway. We then put in our order. We waited so long for our food to come that my 3 year old was falling asleep and we were thinking they had forgotten about us. We could not find our waiter anywhere. He also had promised a refill on my coke which never came. All of a sudden we spotted a GIANT cockroach right next to us!! It was walking on the wall. We warned the table next to us as It started walking toward them. Then someone finally came over but he stomped on it right at our table and grossed us out completely......waited longer longer longer, finally our food came which we could barely eat....then the bill. The manager did not comp our beer...my husband asked her about it to which she had a smart comment about giving him a margarita that costs way more than a beer....okay...horrible customer service. I'm always visited by one of the managers during my visits and Ford Fowler, the GM, is a constant friendly presence on the floor. The guys behind the bar are legendary and masterfully manage the rush hours making it look effortless while executing and delivering great drinks and service. We love coming here for Beef fajitas, the flavor is always great and the meat is always tender. The service has been mixed but nothing that they can't work on. I like to enjoy chips and salsa, after all this time I just found out they have a Serrano salsa that was so great and spicy. The flat enchiladas were superb. The Chicken Flaca was incredible - two juicy tender chicken breasts topped with spinach, artichoke, and a delectable tomatillo sauce. Oh - I opted for the fresh vegetables instead of rice & beans and was served the best grilled asparagus I have ever tasted. A pound of steak fajitas is good enough for me! it runs about $40 but you're suppose to share it between 2 other people. The steak is deliciously marinated and grilled!!! you get so much flavor in every piece! Another plus is their giant tortilla which, does not even taste like a tortilla. Its a hybrid between bread and a crepe! Its so gooooood! I call it a burrito instead of a fajita taco when wrapped because its so big!!! Hallelujah! Since moving to Pearland in April 2007, I've been sorely disappointed with the Tex-Mex offerings. About a month ago, I noticed a sign that Lupe Tortilla would be opening soon in the former On The Border location at FM518 & 288. I nearly wrecked when I saw the "Coming Soon" sign, so when I noticed it lit up last night as I was leaving Best Buy, I had to investigate. Could it already be open? Why has there been no news? Why, worst of all, does the corporate website not even LIST this location? I quickly parked in front, saw folks coming and going and rushed in through the front door. When did you open? I asked the hostess. Monday, she replied. Well praise the Lord and pass the fajitas. Since I was on my way home, I decided to get a to-go order. Went to the bar, where Darryl took great care of me. 1 beer and some chips later, I was out the door, salivating over the goodness of Lupe's beef fajitas. At home, I had to slightly warm them up, as they cooled off on the trip to the casa. Nevertheless, they were tasty and had the same lime-marinated flavor of every Lupe Tortilla in town. I had thought I would eat about 1/2 of the order, with the rest going into the fridge for leftovers tonight. How foolish of me to think that! I wiped out the whole pound of fajitas in nothing flat, including the condiments. The included bag of chips, salsa, and beans were put away for tonight, as I'd already stuffed myself silly (including a few of the chips with some of that great guacamole!) Lupe Tortilla is one of my favorite Tex Mex places! There is one thing that I order and have never ordered anything else for myself. I always order the Three Pepper Cheese Steak. It is amazing! It comes in 2 sizes. Usually the smaller portion is plenty with leftovers most likely happening. It is a strip of carne asade with melted cheese and 3 types of peppers on top (hence the name). I love spicy, but beware of the heat content of each pepper. Now I can handle the jalapeno and Serrano, but the habanero will sneak up on you! The meat coupled with the blanket sized, delicious flour tortillas is a perfect match. My wife usually ordered the chipotle smoked ribs which are tasty as well. I subtracted one star because I am just not a fan of their very mild salsa and beans they serve with chips. Why beans with chips? Just doesn't seem right! read more

Beyond Delicious! I stopped by here on my way home & it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I started off with a frozen margarita. Then, had the chips & salsa. The chips were bland & I had to add salt/pepper for taste. The salsa was muy caliente (spicy). In fact, it was so spicy my nose started to water... but, it was very tasty. Alongside the salsa, they give you a cup of charro beans, which are very well seasoned & tasty. Now, for the entrée! I ordered the Shrimp & Poblano Enchiladas with rice & yes, more charro beans (I love charro beans)! My mouth fell in love with the delightful flavor of the cheese sauce, peppers, onions & shrimp. I mean the flavored from this dish seemed to dance a sweet melody on my tongue. I will definitely not pass this place up again without stopping. My husband and I are secretly happy that Gringo's in Pearland Town Center gets so crowded because that means the wait isn't too long at Lupe's! The margaritas during Happy Hour are great, and the service is always very attentive. We usually split beef fajitas, which we like better than most Tex Mex places because of the lime flavor that comes through on the beef. They are usually happy to bring us both corn and flour tortillas when we order. The only part I don't understand is why the tortillas have to be so huge. They are the size of a large dinner plate and I usually have to tear them in half to build a decent taco (they seem more like burrito tortillas, like at Freebirds?). They are delicious though, so the size issue is something I easily get over. This location is always clean and handles large groups well. It is a great hangout spot to grab a drink and watch at Texans game too - there are plenty of TVs in the bar area. read more

Came here for Mexican and wanted to try a new place. We were greeted as we came into the establishment. We were told a 20 minute wait, but got seated in less than five. Our waiter was Daniel. He was fairly attentive, but did have to ask for more drinks. Otherwise service was great! Chips were served with a side of salsa, guacamole sauce and also a side of ch I had the The Pedro: a beef enchilada and a cheese enchilada with ancho sauce, also served with rice and beans. A lot of beans and rice, enchiladas were smaller than I expected, compared to other Mexican restaurants. The food was good, but I felt not enough enchilada and too much rice and beans. LP is listed here on yelp as Mexican food, but their menu boasts their comida as being Texas Tex-Mex. In that, I agree: it's hardly even Tex-Mex. So the wife and I have a seat and began the peruse the menu. We are given chips and salsa. 2 types of salsa, one being the classic red, and the other being a bean-like mixture that I think is actually churro beans. Whatever it is, it's nice, and the salsa is quite fresh and spicy. I order shrimp and poblano enchiladas and the wife orders green chicken enchiladas. Both orders come out in a timely manner. Wife's enchiladas are well prepared. But my dish tastes odd to me, but my wife thinks it's fine. I think I have extra bitter tasters on my tongue and some dishes end up tasting weird to me. But it's ok, not as savory as I hoped a shrimp dish would be. Overall, the value for money is poor. You are paying quite a bit for enchiladas. 2 Enchilada dishes and 2 margaritas come to 43 dollars. I can go to a mom-and-pop place and get better enchiladas for half the price. Overall, I would normally review LT a 2 star. Being as the service was impeccable, I'm bumping up the review 1 star. I was invited to a night out with another couple who had been dying for some of Lupe's fajitas. I have had them once before and didn't think they were that great...but either way, I decided to entertain the other couple's desires. We decided to meet at Lupe's at 745PM and found the restaurant absolutely packed!!! There is no other restaurant even close to being as packed as Lupe's, except for maybe BJ's. Honestly, I think some more forethought could have gone into the planning of this establishment. If people really LOVE Lupe's the way Saturday night would seem to indicate, then why not make the restaurant bigger, so it can accomodate more people? Either way we were told the wait would be 45 minutes, after which the hostess decided to completely ignore me and not even take my name. I guess the look of shock on my face gave her the impression that I wasn't starving, even though it was 745PM. After that, I decided to leave since my hard earned cash was not good enough...I guess they had enough customers for the night to justify their existence. Either way, I know the food is palatable at Lupe's, and probably deserves a higher rating. But honestly, there is good Tex-Mex to be found almost anywhere in Pearland...and for sure in Houston. Not really sure what happened to the food AND the service at this place. At one time it was the go to place for me but I guess 2020 is just full of changes and surprises. It all started earlier this year when I was trying to support local businesses So I made an order to go just as many other people due to the current events. It was Cinco de Mayo so I kinda didn't get to upset after waiting HOURS for my food that I had preordered but still had to wait an awe full long time. The managing partner came out to apologize to the many people waiting. Fast forward 4 additional trips to the same place....... I still get an apology for service and food which by now should NOT been a problem at any of these visits but it was. So today just really did it for me Ordered brunch and a Mimosa and it was the absolute most disgorging I've ever thought. I had a large catering order for my company Christmas party that was a train wreck. They couldn't find the order that was placed days in advance along with a follow up call the day of the event and made me and the food late for the party. 45 minutes to pick up an order...??? Packaging was not good and I had items fall out and spill in my vehicle. Also I signed up for the rewards but didn't have the information that the system requested and when I send a request in nobody ever responded.
