Enjoyed lots about our lunch today! I started with a Ruby Reg grapefruit margarita that was divine! The chips, fire roasted salsa and beans for dipping were sooo good! For appetizer we ordered a Mexican can shrimp cocktail which we ate on tortilla chips. It had chopped avocado and a mild salsa mixed with the shrimp in a large parfait glass. Pretty and delicious! We shared puffy tacos served with rice and refried beans were good. I wanted the taco shell to be crispy, but it was soft, still good but soft. In my world puffy tacos are crispy puffy shells like those served in San Antonio. Service was super! The restaurant is cool ambiance. The menu is extensive. From prior visits I'll say the fajitas are among the best I've ever had! I want to come for brunch next time. read more

I'm really saddened at the fact that we chose this location over the silverlake location due to the degree of service at the Webster Lupe. We had a party of 20 and were told there was an hour and half wait. We said yes we were willing to wait to be serviced. The hour mark comes up and every one is waiting inside except like 4 people that were parking. Once we advise our party is complete we are told we will be served/seated but with a limited menu only fajitas. This is at the 1.25 hour mark and that our table was "ready" we let our entire party know the menu will be limited and fajitas will just be served and at the choice of the birthday girl we obliged. When we communicated this to Zach ( manager serving us) about us accepting the limited menu. He seemed to scramble about - BARELY gathering tables to seat us. When at this point we're under the impression our tables/area was ready as previously advised. My thing is this. If management was unwillling to serve such a large party. Okay. I get that. But express the sentiment when we arrive two hours before close at 7:05p. Not after we've waiting for 1 hour and fifteen menus and advised of a limited menu then SCRAMBLE to put tables together. My thought process here is that when telling us of the limited menu he expected to leave and not have to accommodate us. Which upsets me because I know for a fact they would enforce gratuity (all within their right) and with good service an add'l tip would've been paid by everyone in our party. As customary, we arrive shortly after they open to make sure that we are seated promptly and that we can eat and be back to the office in a timely manner. The staff is always very welcoming. We all know the fajitas, margaritas, chalupas...everything is good at Lupe! My husband and I order the fajitas plate here all the time... it's our favorite!! Finally we came for breakfast and I'm in love! I love that breakfast is served till 2pm on the weekends. So go on and get that workout in like I did before you indulge. I ordered the jalapeno sausage egg tacos with corn tortillas. Now you know their flour tortillas are like the size of giant plate; so the corn tortillas are the size of a flour tortilla that you would get anywhere else. Sooo delicious! The jalapeno sausage is sliced nicely inside with the scrambled eggs and cheese. Beans, potatoes, and sauces on the side. Potentially what they serve you could be 2 meals and that is exactly what I did. Put 1 taco in a to go box and devoured it later that day. Came out in this cold chillin night for some Fajitas....Walked right in and got a seat near the front.. Only draw back is that it's cold outside and when the door opens it's then cold inside. I am glad I dressed Warm in my Steeler Warm up Gear. I must say that I never noticed how small/tight the small two-seater tables were until now sitting at one. I felt good about the service we would probably be receiving because we've had this waitress before. Lupe Tortilla is one of my favorite Tex Mex restaurants when visiting Texas. If you call ahead or ask when you arrive they will bake tortilla chips for you and you can ask for a separate bean dip and salsa to avoid contamination with the regular chips. It does take longer to get the chips but well worth it! After the chips, I got the chicken fajitas and a pina colada. They were unsure if the pina colada was gluten free so they let me look at the ingredients in the mix they use and it looked safe to me! I started eating the food too fast to get a picture of the fajitas but they were amazing. The portion size was generous, and it came with all the classic fixings - grilled onions and peppers, guacamole, sour cream, and warm corn tortillas. The fajitas can get pricey but you get what you pay for; it's a ton of food! There is a large parking lot so you don't have to worry about parking. In the fall and cool days in the summer they have a very nice outdoor space. read more

I was tried to eat healthy but on Saturday night, (it was busy I understand) but my food took an hour to come out so I ate a ton of chips. We visited here on Saturday and I really enjoyed the food. I ordered the steak quesadillas with all the toppings and the steak was very flavorfully. I was pleasantly surprised considering most times in order to get good flavor you have to add the toppings. I was impressed not only by the great flavor of the steak but the refried beans as well. The beef fajitas are of course melt in your mouth berry, limey goodness!!! Don't waste room or calories on the chicken. It's good but the beef is just so exponentially better. Super cute restaurant with a lively atmosphere! They have a great patio area and nice bar with plenty of tables. The black barrel margaritas are some of the best in town. I get mine served half frozen and half on the rocks. Be careful they can be deadly, all you need is a one! The chips are very crispy & the salsa medium hot. The chicken fajita tacos al carbon are so delicious. The flour tortillas are always so soft and fresh and chicken fajita meat is always so tender with lots of flavor. There was one review that started "This place blows" and that's where it should have ended. I decided to take the kids to a non chain. This thing was nearby. Again...is Gary Busey the silent partner in Yelp? I swear to God someone in the algorithm is just handing out stars like prom night babies. This place sucked. It sucked because there was a wait if 20 minutes for ZERO reason, other than lazy staff. Tables were open EVERYWHERE. Staff was busy mingling. Finally seated and I asked for queso. Look...we all know queso is just a liquid heart attack and it's just a way to eat cheese quickly and efficiently. We got queso. There's really only one way to screw it up - serve it ice cold. There was that layer on the top that coagulated, which is whatever, I get it. It sat under a heat lamp forever (it took awhile to get it). That means it'll be hot underneath. Nope. This velveeta was as cold as Winterfell. I sent it back and told him to keep it as our food was arriving anyway. A note about ordering - this place is pricey for Mexican. Excuse me. It's pricey for Texican. I also want to point out that half of the menu here capitalizes on how close Galveston is, so seafood is all over it, yet on the kids menu it's the regular fried tenders and Mac n cheese. That annoys me. Kids have palates too, and in a seafood place throw a goddamn grilled fish in the mix. There wasn't even a kids quesadilla option btw. I had to order the appetizer portion and it was EXPENSIVE and about as bland as a jar of baby food. I had to also order off the regular menu for a piece of tilapia. That cost me $17. Specifically asked for no spicy seasoning on it. They did it anyway. Look...screw up my food and I'm typically okay. But you've already screwed up queso and now this? I wanted to get the red and green enchiladas. Was informed I could only get red OR green sauce. I tried questioning it because it's a cheese enchilada either way. I wanted one sauced in red and one in green. It wasn't like they had to prepare anything. It's like getting ice cream and when asked for sprinkles being told "no, because then I'd have to remake ice cream." It's stupid. I again went "so you are saying that you can't put two sauces side by side like these other people did on Yelp here?" I was told no. It was as if I'd met Ric Flair and told him I just want to go to first base. Instant denial. He suggested "lobster stuffed avocados". That was a quick 360. It was actually crab. Take that back another five steps. It was "crablike" salad and if we do ratios it was 2/3 avocado and 1/3 of this salad. Again...it was my meal and I can roll with being told they were lobster, then crab, then imitation crab. It wasn't even that bad. But is that what you want to be known for? Being "not that bad?" (Ask my ex.) For $15 these were an expensive lesson in "just go to TGIFridays because you know up front the disappointment level." Can't give stars for service. The Bieber kid who served us didn't refill anything or care much for our table. Oh well. I'm learning that Gary Busey is strong down here when it comes to Texican. Stay away. Hit up Jack in the Box for tacos. (True story...we did just that after and we all were happier. That should say something. Also...sorry to the hotel bathroom we destroyed after.) read more

Overall impression: Didn't have the greatest experience in terms of service here. Food was just okay. Food: average I had the Pedro enchiladas and my wife had the crab meat with avocado. My enchiladas were fine, nothing special. Her crab meat was a little too mayonnaise-y and made her a little sick afterwards. The chips were pretty good and the beans with bacon was a nice touch. Price: slightly high A little on the high side for Mexican food but for the ambience and portions it wasn't too bad. No huge complaints here. Service: we had a bad experience Overall, I'm sure their service is generally better but our experience was a poor one in this circumstance. Basically, what happened was, our service seemed to be fine until a large family came in right next to us and then pretty much all attention was on them. I ordered a queso for an appetizer and for some reason the thing didn't come out even after the family (who came way after us) got their queso and we had gotten our meal. At this point, I just told them that we no longer wanted the queso since our other food was already out. All I got was a "sorry about that" and nothing more. It also took awhile to get our checks and we didn't see much of the waitress once the other family arrived. At least they remembered to take the queso off the bill. Overall, I was very disappointed. Ok so here in Texas we have a lot of chains especially for Tex Mex.... but to have this combo for fajitas... crab stuffed shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, steak and chicken.... black beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. First things first the butter sauces are so savory you literally want to drink them and I don't like butter.... but drizzled on the shrimp and lobster are Devine and yes it goes into he steak and chicken too!!! They also accommodated is with lettuce wraps vs tortillas. And the street corn.... it's a good group I could that like 5 times a day. Today Aubrey waited on us an she was great.... we also had the quest it was a little to runny for my taste but still tasted good!
