Ok so here in Texas we have a lot of chains especially for Tex Mex.... but to have this combo for fajitas... crab stuffed shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, steak and chicken.... black beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. First things first the butter sauces are so savory you literally want to drink them and I don't like butter.... but drizzled on the shrimp and lobster are Devine and yes it goes into he steak and chicken too!!! They also accommodated is with lettuce wraps vs tortillas. And the street corn.... it's a good group I could that like 5 times a day. Today Aubrey waited on us an she was great.... we also had the quest it was a little to runny for my taste but still tasted good! My coworkers took me here on a business trip. They been here before, but wanted to introduced me to this place. The place was only a few blocks from the hotel. I noticed they had so many tables outside. The place had a great atmosphere and I could tell that this place will be wild in Cinco De Mayo. The waiter sat us and have us free samples of beef fajitas. Omg these were like appetizers and they're on the house! I ordered the pork fajitas and a margarita. The fajitas were bomb. They had everything separated for you to make. The tortilla was so soft and fresh, well everything was fresh here. Great food and great customer service. I will come here again when I'm in town again! read more

Well I've been to this place for the third and last time. The second time here we had the nachos which were about a 3 on the scale of 5. In my first review it was breakfast and it's hard to mess up eggs. Outside of that they do everything wrong. Tonight it was way too cold in the restaurant, even in a leather coat I was cold. My legs were freezing and so were hers. It was so dark, I couldn't read the menu. It isn't romantic, just dark. Some people must like it dark, but it baffles me why. I ordered a $15 beef burrito and the half I ate before giving up was all re-fried beans. $15 for a bean burrito is highway robbery. Our food took an inordinately long time to arrive. It's been a long time since I've walked out of a restaurant, but just as we were about to walk the food came - must have taken 20-30 minutes for enchiladas and a burrito to be produced while we shivered. The waiter was more like absent than inattentive. After we were ready to go we waited in this cold for about 5 minutes. We'd been trying to catch somebody's eye for about 3 of the 5 minutes before a hostess walked by. We asked her to tell our waiter we needed the check. Came here with a couple friends and it was pretty packed around 6. We got a table outside and were seated about 10 minutes after we got there. Drinks came pretty quickly. When we ordered it took about 17 minutes to come out to us so not too bad considering the volume. Food was delicious and my friends enjoyed their meals as well. Food is good. Bean dip for chips are super delicious. Tortilla is huge and delicious. Charros are super fresh and one of the best I've ever had. I absolutely have no complaints about food. However, service is horrible. I've been here 3 times since the food is amazing. I had 3 different servers and they were all horrible. Except for one guy who works super hard. I never had the pleasure of having him as our server. Don't expect refills on your drinks. Forget it if you are in hurry, you wouldn't even get your orders taken. read more

Margarita was good, we all (4 of us) had the house and everyone of us liked it; both the frozen and the on-the-rocks. The red sauce is different, it seemed more like chopped pico de gallo than the usual salsa. But, it is flavored well. We didn't have any green sauce, and I forgot to ask, so not sure if they have any. The Chili Con Caso is OK. I added a small cup of pico de gallo and that helped. Not my favorite Caso (based on how much I ate). I had the Tilapia Veracruz which is an 8 oz. filet topped con grilled shrimp, roasted chile cream sauce, tomatoes, cilantro y queso fresco. It was delicious and probably why I rated the place 3 stars instead of 2. Absolutely yummy! But, warning, it is a bit spicy. Would I return, probably if someone else I with wants to go there, but I wouldn't go out of my way or request to return. Would I recommend? We decided to grab Lupe Tortilla since they are open for dining in again. This was my first time coming in to one in around 10 years. Nice ambience. Masks required and hand sanitizer is available. All staff are masked and gloved. Now that the safety stuff is out of the way, let's eat! We had The Garcia (me) and the Sr. Gaffigan. You get allot of food, in addition to the chips, salsa, and beans you get when seated. The Garcia was one puffy beef Taco, a crispy beef Taco, and a ground beef chalupa with rice and beans. It was good. Not exceptional, but good. The Sr. Gaffigan was 2 enchilada, and a puffy taco. Enchiladas were pretty good overall. Again, it was allot to eat. The staff was all very nice and our server was attentive and pleasant. My only gripe was the temperature in the restaurant. It was hot. I don't know if the AC was broke, overworked, or if because the front door was wide open. read more

This Lupe Tortilla location is an outstanding Tex-Mex experience. My wife and I came here on a recent Saturday night on the recommendation of a few folks who knew that I've been on the hunt for some old school Tex-Mex in the area (see my other reviews). Lupe Tortilla does not fit that bill, but certainly offers up a delicious take on what I grew up eating on Sundays at the local Mexican food dive. The atmosphere here is fun, if not a little kitschy. If the weather allows, eat on the patio. Unlike other places, Lupe Tortilla has spread the tables out enough that you can actually carry on your own conversation and not have to hear others'. I'm not going out on a limb when I say that the patio dining here is akin to an hour-long vacation. Everyone from the host to our server was spot on. Not only were they polite and professional in every way, the orders came out perfectly (and he didn't have to write it down). The food here is divine and I'm particularly impressed because this is a quasi-chain. (I typically don't care for chain restaurants.) I created my own platter, which included a toothsome tamale filled with most shredded pork, a cheese enchilada and a bean, lettuce and cheese tostada. Everything looked and tasted like someone took some care in preparing it, and that includes the beans and rice. ~ My wife had the crab-stuffed avocado and ... Eureka! Perfectly ripe avocado and succulent sweet crab. My, oh my! If I had one minor bone to pick, it would be about the house salsa, which is more of a pico de gallo. The taste is excellent, actually, but I prefer a smoother salsa. That's just my thing. Still, we'll be back for sure. read more

3 stars since our fajitas were delicious and initially our server was great. I'd give zero stars for the rest of our visit. We placed a to-go order for veggie enchiladas & 2 margaritas towards the end of our meal so it would be ready to go when we were. 1. It was just 8 pm. They reported to us the bar was completely out of patron. Ok, we chose another tequila. 2. After about 20 minutes, not terrible wait, the drinks arrived and our server said he would check on the food. He also brought additional bill. A bit shocked to see they ordered & charged for 2 large margaritas, we ordered 2 regular. My husband just let it go. Who doesn't want more drink, right? 3. Additional 30 minutes pass, we never see our server again 4. Just shy of the ONE HOUR mark, a manger shows up and let's us know the kitchen had lost the ticket but it was being made immediately. They did comp the enchiladas, so that was appreciated. 5. Finally get meal and drinks delivered to friend. Margaritas were watered down by then, but the best part was they were margarita mix only, absolutely zero alcohol. So we paid $30 for watery lime mix. At least she had a bit of tequila at home to add to that expensive slush. Really, the overall experience was frustrating. We hadn't been in a while so thought it would be a nice change. By far my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant and in my top 10 best restaurants I have been to always very friendly and has fresh & delicious food each time I go. Recently just tried their breakfast had the 4oz Carne Asada with eggs and the best Mimosa-Rita I have ever had. Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. The food was rotten ! The shrimp and chicken tasted rotten. The smell of the rotten shrimp sank onto the chicken and surrounding food and made everything taste worse! The Manager came out when food was first sat on the table and barely had started eating. I thought it would be pretty good until I got to the shrimp which smelled and tasted bad . We were by ourselves out of the main traffic inside of the restaurant. Do we waited for the waiter who understood and went for the Manager. Twenty minutes later she showed up and said want went wrong. I tried the beans and rice and scraped off the shrimp but it tasted rotten or spoiled with a chlorine aftertaste. Our first time at Lupe Tortillas. It was a beautiful day. The wait was short. The mixed platter was good. What ruined our experience was despite numerous open tables we were seated in a spot that let the sun beam directly into one side of the table's faces. We brought it to our waitress' attention, but nothing was done. To added insult to injury the garage door directly above us started dripping water on us and even the manager was aware and we still weren't moved. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday. They did give a complimentary flan, but don't expect a happy birthday song. They don't do it. Service was friendly but slow. This was the first time I had been there--I'm staying at the hotel next to it, while on a vacation. I was sat immediately (it was just me). My server was amazing, on point, and had silent service down. Ask for Sofia if you ever get a chance to visit this place. The food was incredible and large enough portions that I didn't even finish my whole plate. I was expecting the bill to be around $40 (my dinner plate + a beer + a soft drink), but it was honestly considerably less. My point is the prices are MORE than fair. If I am ever in the area again, I intend on going back. read more

Update 12-9-18 I have been coming to Lupe for years and love the food. The traditional salsa they have had for years is the BEST. They have changed to a salsa that tastes like pepper which is a no go for us! Today we get told we are going to get charged for the old salsa! That is RIDICULOUS. Abuelo's, Gringo's, Pappasito's ALL have multiple salsas that you DO NOT get charged for. Come on Lupe. It seems like you are trying to lose long term customers with bad mgmt on servers at times and ridiculous choices like this. Update: Ido not know what has changed at this Lupe location, we have been coming here for years but the service is not what it used to be. I do not know if it's understaffed or just disorganized but there's definitely been a change. The waiters that have been here forever like Hector are still amazing but you've removed tables in the first room and still seem understaffed or diso. The other rooms are crammed in, very uncomfortable seating. Food came with no rice, by the time the rice came we were done. They are bringing this new hot sauce to the table that is just not good. Many of us came for the beans and salsa. I'm not sure who decided to change it but it's not good. I can see bringing what we all love and this new salsa to try but not bringing this new salsa and when we asked for the original it takes 20 minutes to get it. Previous review about breakfast: If I could give ZERO stars I would. First Mother's Day since serving breakfast and they have very little staff!!!!! Tons of empty tables and tons of people waiting. Ridiculous. No visible management! One bartender. The bar was filthy. I have been coming here for years and this was the worst experience at Lupe ever!!!! Incompetence at Its Finest- We decided to throw a surprise retirement dinner for a coworker and thought that Lupe Tortilla would be the perfect spot. Knowing that the party would be around 15 and that we wanted to have the dinner on Friday night, I called ahead and asked to make a reservation. The only way the restaurant would make a reservation was for us to book the fiesta room which is a mandatory $500 bill with a specific platter we had to order. We weren't sure at the time of the call that we would spend $500 for dinner, so we passed on the fiesta room and decided that one of us would get there early to reserve the table. I arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes before the decided time (the time we told the guest of honor). At check in, the hostess was visibly annoyed that I was requesting a table for 15 and said it would be a 45 minute wait. I said ok. I had a cake and flowers and no one offered to put the cake in a refrigerator for me. Most restaurants take cakes immediately from patrons. While waiting there was space on the side patio and I asked if we could be seated there, but I was told that they do not seat in that area and that she was going to seat us in the front inside room. At the 45 minute mark, I went to go check to see if our table was almost ready and saw the tables ready in the front room that was promised. At that point I was told that it would be 15 more minutes. Meanwhile they sat another party in that front room the hostess said she would seat our party. 15 minutes later, I went back to check and they said it would take a bit longer. The guest of honor came and we had to reveal the surprise in the waiting area. After 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting, I went to go check again and was told that we could be seated right away if we were okay with not sitting together. Why would we want to sit separately? After multiple checkins and more run around concerning the number of chairs and table placements, at the 2 hour waiting mark, we were told that they couldn't give us a wait time because they had to wait for people to finish eating, yet they continued to sit people in places where we could have been sat. At that point we left and took our business somewhere else. The manager never came out to apologize. I will never go back to Lupe Tortilla again and will tell anyone who listens to go anywhere else. This is the worst restaurant experience we have ever experienced in the Webster area. If I could give zero stars, I would. Take your business somewhere else. There are plenty of delicious Mexican restaurants in the area that have better service and actually value their customers. read more

I hate Tex-Mex food. It is not Mexican and is certainly a category all in its own. I don't care for queso, which tends to taste like uncooked flour most of the time. All of that to say, this place changed my opinion of what Tex-Mex could be. I haven't been to any other locations, but this one was really good. Since it was our first time, the manager gave us complimentary asada tacos to try out. They were so flavorful, I was amazed. I got the steak fajitas both times. The meat was very tender and full of flavor. I particularly liked how they served the fajitas with whole poblanos instead of bell peppers. That definitely added to the flavor. The fajitas came with rice and beans and a full molcajete of guacamole, cheese, pico, and sour cream. You definitely get a lot of food here. I definitely highly recommend this place. read more

My first Visit, decided to do breakfast. Sadly I am disappointed. I had my reason for going, wanted a simple Barbacoa Breakfast with eggs, refried beans and bacon. Nope, this combination not offered. So ended up ordering everything as sides. Then Sadly the Barbacoa is not the cheek meat I was hoping for, if not cheek it won't be tender. Shredded Beef of so kind, dry, chewy and stringy, didn't even come with Tortillas with out asking. I expected so much better. I went to have dinner on Saturday night with my husband and we are very unhappy with the service and treatment we received! For starters our drinks were almost $19 a piece and the margarita tasted like mostly sweet and sour. They seat us by the kitchen which was fine but when our fajitas and enchiladas came out there were cold and not sizzling, the enchiladas were hard as well. Being that we were so close to the kitchen I feel our food should have been piping hot. We ask to have it remade or warmed up. The food came back out and it is mediocre at best. The Enchiladas finally came back and we were already disappointed so we said Never-mind. We ask for 2 more drinks & they come back unsatisfactory as well, we ask to have them adjusted and it takes so long that I have to get up and physically walk to the bar to get what I needed. I ask for the manager to please bring me an additional shot and some ice because my expensive beverage barely had anything in it and to my surprise he said NO that he couldn't comp a drink for me . He did nothing to fix the entire situation. We complete our meal frustrated and ask for the tab . We waited so long we got up to go to the restroom and my husband had to find someone to pay the tab. We came all the way from Galveston and We will not be returning. I give this 1 star at best. This Management team lacks leadership and if I were the owner I would hire a new team. read more

I have always loved Lupe Tortilla's. It's been years since I've been here and I don't know why! I wanted my boyfriend to try their fajitas because I think they are SOOOOOOOOO GOOD! Both the chicken and beef fajitas are marinated in lime juice so they are so flavorful, juicy and tender! Yum!! For a starter, we ordered the Queso Flameado with the beef fajita to start off with since my boyfriend was starving. It was delicious! What's not to love? Cheese, fajita beef, cheese and fresh warm tortillas. Did I mention cheese? ;) We also ordered the Chicken and Beef Fajitas (1/2 lb) which was enough for us to share. They were so delish too! No complaints on the food, that's for sure. It was just as good as I remembered, if not BETTER! Our server was also very nice and friendly. He had a great attitude. Their prices are a bit high but it's worth it. Their quality of food is better in my opinion so I don't mind paying more like I do at Pappasito's. I've also tried their Puffy Tacos with shrimp in the past and they are amazing as well! Next time, I'll make sure I don't wait so long to come back! Lots of food. The steak in the tacos was tender and flavorful. The green chicken enchiladas were also good. The regular size guacamole is enough for 4. Johnny (head chef/ owner?) walked around and greeted us and initiated a nice conversation. BIG Birthday FAIL! We were visiting from out of state for Spring Break, and our son's birthday is also at the end of March. He chose Lupe Tortilla for his bday dinner. Our waitress totally blew it for our son's 10th. We told her when we arrive we were celebrating his birthday. After the meal, she handed us the check. We had to remind her about the birthday. He got a flan and we got the check. Best queso, best margs, best churros. And those are just my must-have favorites. Their seasonal margaritas ESPECIALLY top even their own classic ones, along with everyone else's. Lupe's is true Tex-Mex if you have never been. The chips and salsa they offer as a free app are standard fare, but Lupe's ups the pre meal offering by providing a tiny bowl of very tasty pinto beans. Their queso and guacamole appetizers are a must, as are one of a variety of margaritas - I particularly liked the Black Barrel Margarita (which I had never tried before). Most of our table ordered beef and chicken fajitas, while I opted for tilapia. Half my fish was overcooked and half was done properly, and the taste was just ok. The refried beans were standard and my rice was not very good - they just don't serve proper tasting rice here.
